The owner Rick is really friendly and easy to work with... They provide a good service for a good price. They did the rear brakes on my Buick for $60(I provided the pads) and threw in a brake fluid flush for $20. I get my oil/filter changed there all the time on their $16.95 coupon special. It is certainly a good deal. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that they over filled the oil when I asked them to leave me room for to add an oil additive and the rear brakes made a scraping noise when I left. But they were more than happy to correct both issues right away. When I came back they just put the car right up right away... I came in for a $16.95 oil change. A great deal and they honored the coupon for two vehicles. The mechanic said my Miata's front brakes were almost metal to metal with 5% pad left and I needed rotors. He said, "do you want see for yourself?" The job would cost $299. So, I took the day off work the next Monday and changed the brake pads and rotors myself for $70.00. I don't have a problem with price, or the fact the brakes could have used replacing. However, when I changed the pads I did see they were worn, but there was at least 20% pad left and the rotors did not look too bad either. I suppose the brakes and rotors did need replacing, but the mechanic made it sound like it was critical to have the work done before some some catastrophic thing happened. Next time, I will insist he show me. read more

I bought a used Toyota Tercel from the mechanics at this shop. Within two weeks the car broke down. It continued to stall, die while I was driving, not start and have a series of mechanical issues. At least every two weeks there was a problem. I took it to another shop and discovered that half the engine needed to be rebuilt. While they seemed upfront and honest I cannot believe that professional mechanics would have no idea that the engine needed to be rebuilt. They did not say anything about it. I had to sell the car to a junk yard because it would cost over $3,000 to get the engine properly repaired when they sold it to me for a little less than 2,000. I would not trust this shop to do anything and will never do business with them again. They also told me they would smog the car. I called ahead to arrive on a Saturday for the smog. I had to drive from San Carlos in order to do this. I was reassured they would pay for the smog and it would get done that day. After I drove almost an hour they had no one to do the smog. I had to go somewhere else to smog the car and pay for it myself when they had told me they would handle it. The two employees told me they often buy cars at auction, work on them, and resell them. I would not trust them for any kind of major work. Additionally, they gave me the records for the car. When I had my own mechanic look at it we discovered that some of the problems they fixed were misdiagnosed and the true problems were not actually fixed. One repair they did was so botched- they used a mis-manufactured part and did not even notice. Due to their negligence and poor mechanical work I have now lost over $2000 on the car they sold me. Do not trust them for any kind of major work. While it appears some people have had good experiences here it seems to only be about oil changes. When it comes to bigger issues it seems that they scam people to make money. They were dishonest in the sale of this car and the work they did on it was shoddy. After going to two different mechanics I suspect it is highly likely they tampered with the car to cover what would have been obvious signs of problems to sell the car. read more

Rick at Zipin Out is the most conscientious and responsible Auto Repair Service owner that I have met. Trust is the key factor to earn my business for Auto repairs. I have been coming to Rick and Zipin Out for the last 10 years. Time and time again, they have provided honesty, responsibility and fair pricing in their dealings. In fact, many times, they have done extra work after their original quote for NO EXTRA CHARGE. A few months back, I brought my mother's car, a Mistubishi Galant in for a tune up, brakes, and deferred service and they repaired dents in her rear fender for NO EXTRA CHARGE. Likewise, they are vary diligent in finding the true nature of a problem. I had an AC issue in my minivan and they tried 3 different ways to diagnose it and finally fixed it (although it took longer than they expected and quoted) at NO EXTRA CHARGE. My starter went out & I commute so at the end of the day I had to get a tow to an unknown shop. The driver recommended Nitesh & I agreed in spite of misgivings about not being able to get to my normal shop. But at 5:30pm they were open & able to help, disassembling the engine assembly in seconds, a driver literally drove up with the new starter within a minute, Nitesh signed for it, installed it, and I was on my way. The port isn't much to look at but the guys were only as standoffish as I was & in a few minutes we were chatting about kids and car stories...I was forced by circumstances to try this shop out. Had car trouble yesterday and needed a tow truck to get me out of an intersection in Saratoga. There was obvious electrical issues that shut everything down (even had a guy roll down his window and screamed that I needed to turn on my hazard lights; Just be aware that not all car problems allow you to turn on your hazard lights should you feel to yell at someone else's misfortune). When the tow truck came, he recommended that I try Rick and his team. Not knowing a whole lot about cars, I was apprehensive but Rick took care of my issue and within about 20 minutes. Turned out it was a bad connection cable and not something that he probably could have sold me (I thought was an alternator). I have been going to this place for my cars. However, I will not return. Each time the manager is telling me that I need this, I need that. Each time the item and the labor are extremely expensive. He says I may lose my car if I don't have such and such fixed very soon. I have fallen for his stories each time and paid out what he charged within $50. He does not give me a break for all the service I have given him. Just recently he replaced a TCS switch and charged over $200. Now, the light is still coming on. I want my money back and will not return to him after I get it. He said 90% of the time it is the switch not the sensor, which he did not test. dumb me. I cannot believe I am in the 10% of all these car owners that are not in the Switch percentage. No way. He robbed me again. read more

Very careful when you go to oil change and they call you and show you " look at this, you have problem here and there". They showed me oil in the rear brake and said it is leaking. I went to other place to repair it, it turned out there was no problem. It looked they applied oil intentionally near the brake. Be very careful and make sure get other opinions before you give them a job. read more

The customer service is nice & they try to explain issues in details. Most importantly, my experience was very nice in regards to the willingness to work with me regarding prices. But the #1 issue is they never fixed any of the serious issues I've been having with my SUV. I've gotten repairs, on multiple occasions and had to come back, the soonest was two days later. On another repair a few weeks later. And on another repair maybe like 2 or 3 months later. And after all this, I am still having the same issues I was having when I first came there. The only thing kept me coming back was they always say, well just bring it back in & we'll see what's going on. I come back, they resolve the issue then and I'll have to come back no more than 2 or 3 months later. Good customer service, but not great work. Great place to go for small jobs. Defintely not the place to go for extensive repairs. read more

Went there for over 10 years. First 5 provided great low cost service and honesty. Last 5 years not so good: (1) They told my daughter she needed new shocks right after Toyota replaced her shocks. (2) They replaced my sons rear brakes and left both rear wheel axels loose. (3) They changed the oil in my wifes car and left the oil filter loose and the oil cap off. This almost cost us the entire engine. We are never returning there. read more

I had my wife's Higherlander in for fluid changes for the brakes, transmission and radiator. Zipin Out did a professional job and also checked the brakes, tires, shocks, etc. The cabin air filter needed changing but everything else was OK. Have seen satisfaction on other customers faces as well. They have worked on three Porsches for me and if they can't do the job, they will tell you and send you to a specialist. Prices are good, and their recommendations for future repairs or other work is always honest, not pushing for work. They are also quick, and very reliable in their cost estimates. My 70 plus, recently widowed friend has been coming here for years. She has had her cars serviced here many times. She has been hearing her car make a squeaking noise in the morning so she took her car to Zip In and Out believing they were trust worthy. They said she needed all 4 brakes replaced for $600.00 and a power steering pump for $300. Since she is on a very limited income she did not have the money to pay them or would have had it serviced on the spot. I suggested she go to Firestone so that she could apply for a credit card then pay over a period of time. We took her car to Firestone where they said she did not need breaks. They are still looking into the power steering pump. I know that there are shaddy businesses out there, but never thought any of my friends or I would be a victim of their greediness. I am saddened that any business would do this to an elderly woman or anyone else, but according to their reviews this is not an isolated occurrence. Shame on them! We are now wondering how many other times they have lied to her about her needed repairs. read more

I don't even know where to start. This place is terrible. Do not bring your car here. They will rip you off. They'll pretend to acknowledge your coupons, but will then find some kind of reason as to why your car is different than other cars and why it will cost you more money. No matter what car you have... I needed a simple oil change and about 2 hours after dropping it off the guy called me and told me that I needed like 8 other things done also. That's okay, most places will do that. When I asked what the total price will be all together, the price I will have to pay when I get there, he said $300. I just told him that's fine and to just get it done. That was reasonable. When I got there he charged me $742 and then told me that he must have forgotten to mention the labor charge. I told him I couldn't afford that and he told me that it's not their problem and that they already did the labor. They would hold my car until I could..... ONCE I finally got it paid the check engine light came on and would not go away. I needed my car smogged that day for the DMV and it was an automatic fail. I brought it back to Zipin out, and after a few hours they finally had it fixed. They tried charging me again but I would not pay them, and after threatening to bring my lawyer in they just gave me the key. If you're planning to bring your car somewhere on White Oaks Ave. to get it fixed, don't go here. Go next door to Los Gatos Repair or something. They are honest and do the work right. Zipin Out is just not worth your time or money. read more
