This is my first time eating here so I can't speak to other menu items but I had one of the best salads I've ever had in my life. (Honey Balsamic salad). Unfortunately I inhaled it before taking a picture. I can't leave anything less than five stars for a place that serves a salad like that! There are plenty of TVs and not too loud music and the place was decorated for the holidays. I'm adding this place to my "Must come back again" list! Went to an ole favorite to watch golf. Ordered a chop salad with grilled chicken and an iced tea. Always appreciate the large drinks at Zips and servers friendly. Also asked a side of garlic bread. Restaurant was unusually cold. Took 35 minutes to get my food. Salad was small, iceberg lettuce tired, dressing greasy, and garlic toast had no flavor. Overall disappointing. Came into the restaurant with my friend and niece. We were sat at the booth and given menus. My niece had a Canes kids meal that she was eating. We ordered drinks and then a few minutes later were told my niece could not eat her meal there. There were no signs on the door, or anywhere in the establishment. The hostess did not mention the fact that my niece walked in with her meal and the server who got our drink order said nothing. I understand that this is a restaurant and I can see how this would be an issue in some establishment. What gets me upset is that the hostess at the front desk said nothing, the server said nothing, several other employees saw us walking to our table saw us and said nothing. They really waited for us to sit and order drinks to let us know and just looked down at us while we got up from the booth and left. Such a disappointment, I don't like eating there anyways. FYI if anyone orders salad from there get it with the dressing on the side. The lettuce is never washed right. In 2 occasions I ordered the buffalo wing salad and I thought my lettuce had pepper, IT WAS DIRT! Manager came out, looked at the dirt went and got me another salad and it still had dirt. At this sports bar, you'll find plenty of TVs to catch a game. I ordered the golden medium wings, but unfortunately, they drowned them in sauce--so much that even the server acknowledged it. The sauce is good, but not when there's way too much. To make matters worse, the price of the wings had gone up. There was a minor bar fight and no employees / managers around to really diffuse the situation or make sure both parties exited the premise. Also there were off the clock employees talking really loudly and rudely at booths in the bar area during this time because we had asked for a game to be put on one of the tvs (I did mention to not change any of the football game tvs knowing the significance of the game). Zipps is always great for bar food. I absolutely love their Zipparitas. Zipps is great for watching sports, hanging with friends and enjoying wings. I typically get their margaritas and enjoy happy hour appetizers. On this occasion we did all happy hour: chicken screwers, pretzel & cheese, chips and salsa and lots of margaritas. Favorite margaritas were Firecracker and Chambord. Happy hour runs from 4-7, Monday through Friday. This location also has reverse Happy Hours. read more

When they brought it in the glass with the stem that it came in, it was shocking to see that they would even deliver something like that to my table. Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce and a side of fries. Sandwich arrived plain and dry. Fries were soaked in buffalo sauce. Server came and said he would fix it. I asked for a new order of fries and a side of buffalo sauce for the sandwich. He finally came back with those two things BUT charged us $.60 for the sauce that should've been on my sandwich not on the fries. Two stars for good location, I was able to leave and go any place else on Mills Ave. I could see how this place could be fun on game days though. It'd be hard to mess up pouring pints of beer and chicken wings I suppose. Attempted to have a late dinner here with coworkers. You can tell this place definitely caters to the college kids because the quality in everything is low. It smelled sticky and sweaty, the women's restroom smelled better than the actual place. I wouldn't say the food is nasty, but I'll say it's edible. I got the steak nachos and they were so dry and flavorless that I could even eat half or it. My coworker offered me their chicken skewers and alright they said they like it, I thought it was dry as well. If I remember correctly, another coworker ordered a flatbread sandwich and instead was brought out a wrap. Although our waitress was very kind and sweet, she was a bit forgetful. After the loss of our friend, Zachariah, we wanted to honor him by going somewhere special and having his favorite drink, Zipparitas. Our friends recommended that we visit Zipp's on our next visit to AZ, so we made it a must do on our latest trip. This location isn't the one they were talking about, but we saw it and had to give it a go. I ordered the Pepper Jack Focaccia and was happy. The flavor was good, I just wish it had a little bit more of a kick. For a beverage, I had the Zipparita with strawberry. It, too, was good, just not what I was expecting. It was not like a typical margarita, rather it was creamy, almost like an alcoholic ice cream drink. As we were in Tempe visiting a different friend, I'm not sure how often I would be getting back to this location, so I may just search out the location my friends recommended, on my next trip. Food and drinks are always great here. Typically the ambiance is too but today there was a large group of aggressive males making extremely racist and homophobic statements. I asked the gentleman to please stop and they ignored me and became more aggressive. In an effort to de-escalate the situation my fiancé and I paid our checks and went to leave. I'm very disappointed that this group of "regulars" were allowed to be disrespectful and aggressive to patrons of the establishment. This experience will definitely discourage me from returning to Zipps knowing that they allow "regulars" to be so disrespectful and aggressive and try to incite a reaction from people just trying to enjoy lunch. read more

Worst experience ever. We ordered a pizza which came out wrong so we said something about it. The sorry excuse of a manager named Kent came over and asked "what's wrong with the pizza?" I get it, it's a busy Friday night but the attitude this guy had towards us was WAY too aggressive. Once we mentioned the pepperoni isn't cooked and the cheese hasn't melted, he said "well we don't redo food here just because you don't like how it looks". If thats policy then I understand but he definitely didn't need to come at my family that aggressively. We would have accepted him at least getting the cheese to melt. Nope he goes on to say "if I make a new one I'm going to charge you for two". He really made a pretty bad day that much worse. I tried Zipps again after not going for awhile. Never again. Didn't feel too well after eating the wings there. This is probably the reason. April Health Inspection. 7 violations, Really? In an April 10 inspection, Zipps Sports Grill in Tempe had five priority violations, many also related to raw chicken. In a prep cooler, raw chicken was stored above veggie patties and hand-washing practices weren't followed. There were also multiple instances of old food. Cooked soup with a discard date of April 4 and sausage with a discard date of April 7 were both found. Lastly, an inspector observed a "prep employee pick trash up off (the) ground and begin handling ready-to-eat foods without washing hands." read more

I went to zips with the impression it was a SPORTS bar. I intended to watch the WNBA finals game. When I asked them to turn one of the tables ver 20 tvs to a basketball game I was told they had to check with management and would see. We went to this location for the first time last night. My aunt got up to take her toddler to the bathroom and slipped on a puddle of liquid in the middle of the dining walkway. After notifying the appropriate staff (or what we thought) about the puddle so it could be cleaned to prevent further accidents, they did a cursory job of "cleaning." The liquid was still very much there. We had to flag down a "manager in training" to once again notify them that the puddle was in fact NOT cleaned. They attempted to clean it again but it was obvious nobody really understood what they were doing. A wet floor sign was placed about 30 minutes later. And to top it off, they gave us two $5 "Zipps" bills equating to a whopping $10 for our inconvenience, I guess. But wait, when we tried to use the meager $10 coupon we were informed we couldn't even use it for this visit as they are not valid until 4/27!!! As if we would ever frequent this place again. It was a grilled chicken with tiny slivers of avocado and Swiss cheese the fries tasted old and gross. Both seem like they were just thrown on the plate. Husband had onion rings also tasted terrible. Servers were good that's the only reason for the one star. I've heard they've had quite a few violations after reading through the reviews.
