Me and my friends come here a lot. It's open late, I'm not sure if it's 24 hours anymore (many Zippy's locations changed their times). It's decently big and clean It gets really busy in the late night/early mornings, as drunk club goers pour in. I get the usual, Korean Fried Chicken. I was told this is the Hawaiian version of blueberry hill. I can totally see the connection. The person taking the order seemed to be in a rush. Wasn't the nicest lady ever but it didn't really bother me. She should have asked everyone if they wanted fried rice substituted with their bento box as the person before me ordered the same thing and after I substituted fried rice, he wanted that too. I ordered a breakfast bento box with Portuguese Sausage, egg, and fried rice to go. It really did come out faster than I thought which was a plus. For a little breakfast box, it was pretty decent. The fried rice was decent. It wasn't nearly as good as other places where I've had fried rice, but it wasn't too bad. Sausage was okay. Overall, for five bucks, it's really not a bad deal. If that's the type of food that always comes out, it's really not too shabby. Five bucks for breakfast isn't horrible. In a bind, I can see a Zippy's being a decent option for food. read more

This prices keep increasing, but the customer service is not. I recently visited this location where it took almost a little over 15 minutes to receive an order that was taken in store. After about 10 minutes I proceeded to the takeout order area and waited patiently at the counter side. I watched a young girl make her soda and walk away as if I was not there. She sat down to go take her break. I waited a few more minutes until I finally decided to walk a couple of more steps to another employee who was working on some other project The workers forgot about my meal.. Ahhh....nothing like a Zippy's run after a Friday night of drinking right? I thought I was still drunk, but my watch confirmed what I thought was very odd. I was in line for 15+ minutes with 3 people in front of me. Seriously, You know the service sucks when I ordered a Korean chicken plate and the time it took for me to get the order was shorter than the time it took for me to order it. Luckily another register opened up as the person in front of me was ordering or else I might have been in line for another 5 minutes. It took about a minute for me to pay for my order. But other than that, the food was good and the portions was more than what I usually get at the Ewa or Waipahu location. read more

It's about time I reviewed one of many Zippy's locations. I recently stopped by tonight to catch up with some friends after work. This location is great, because it's off of Nimitz which is on my way back home. However, the parking is quite small and sometimes can be difficult to get into with the back log off Nimitz ewa bound and east bound. This rating is based upon their Restaurant side and my salad. I was running about 10 minutes late and they close at 12am. Thankfully, the waitress happily took my order via my friend for a mini Chicken Oriental salad. To my surprise, my food was being placed on the table next to a freshly poured cup of ice water. When I asked if I could have a chair, she still smiled and brought one back within less than 30 seconds. Trust me when I say, we were not the only patrons at 11pm. Once I was situated, my eyes targeted the heaping pile of greens. There before me was what looked like a pile of lettuce with large chunks on top. Chunks of yummy goodness that is! There were 8 pieces of chicken breast, some imitation crab, char siu, won ton chips, and fish cake. When you're starving and on a diet, that stuff looks so ono! It tasted ono too with the sweet dressing. I couldn't believe that my bill was only $6.75 for that. Great price for such a big portion. I have been going to this Zippy's for a long time. It's always good. I love the fried chicken and chili mix. Another favorite is the sailing, especially on cold days. I used to like the hamburger steak but now they charred which I don't care for. The Korean chicken and Zip pac are also great dishes. read more

Okay, I know that I was on vacation and everything, but I really enjoyed eating here and I think a lot of people take this place for granted. Yes it is similar to Dennys, but when you don't have a late night spot that serves Hawaiian food on the mainland, THEN YES ITS A BIG DEAL! I stumbled in here after a night barhopping with my cousin and our friend after a night of clubbing given that its one of the "better" places to eat at late in Honolulu. I was actually too drunk to remember if the service was any good, but it must have been ok since I'm giving this place 4 stars. I ordered the corn beef hash and eggs which was pretty good and helped my stomach settle a bit. It was crispy on the edges and soft and tender on the inside, just how I like it when I make it at home. My friend ordered the steak and eggs and and my cousin ordered the zip pac (fried chicken, teriyaki beef, fish filet, spam, and rice) and they both enjoyed their food for its taste and sober up value ;). I may actually try the zip pac next time. On a side note, a lot of cute girls were here around the same time being that it was after club hours. Making the experience all more entertaining. Say what you want about Zippy's or this location in particular, but anywhere that my eyes and stomach are both satisfied deserves a good rating! read more

Best Zippy's HANDS DOWN... Service is AWESOME....fast, friendly, personable. If you go enough, they know you by name, bring you your normal drink and ask if you are having your "regular" entree. Food is GREAT....consistent and decent portions. Parking is never an issue. My family and I will go out of our way past several other zippy's closer to our house...to come here and eat. read more

I love Zippys, I'm actually a huge fan. This review is not for the food because their food is fine. This review is for our server tonight. I get it, she's a trainee HOWEVER I believe there are some things that all servers should know even before they start. For starters, always have paper to write the orders. Our server decided to write our order ON HER ARM!!! Who does that?? Also, she kept handling the part of the fork that goes into our mouth eww! Plus she's coughing!!! I also caught her scratching her hair EWW. I haven't eaten since lunch so I'm starving. But after what I saw tonight, I don't even want to eat anymore. Worst place I have ever been to, I went there last night and got an oxtail soup, 2 cheeseburgers, and an order of fries with a large drink. When I had gotten home to eat my oxtail soup my rice first of all was as hard as it would've been raw... and to top it off I am sitting at home vomitting with food poisoning from the oxtail soup. 5/18/19 at 6 pm, my elderly uncle and aunt decided we should change it up and go to Nimitz Zippy's for a change- upon arrival we all decided on Won Ton min- The waitress was attentive and took our orders- when the Won Ton arrived, it was terrible- all of our soup was COLD, the noodles mushy, and the broth watery- my 87 year old Japanese uncle NEVER complains- tonight he did- he called our waitress over (short 35 yo chunky Portuguese mix fake eyelashes) and politely told her our concerns- she did not expect that from all of us- I told her one of the Department of health standards is that the food should be a certain temperature, and COLD broth is not one of them- Unfortunately Nimitz Zippy's did not care nor did the management Shame on Zippy's , never go to Nimitz again, poor quality matches the neighborhood read more

Generally Zippy's is pretty good, but I'll never go back to this location. Both my fiancé and myself got the zip pack and within hours were incredibly sick. I think it was the fish in the zip pack. The food poisoning knocked us out of commission for the better part of 2 days of our 5 day trip to Hawaii and ruined a ton of our plans. Called in the morning to do a Korean chicken pupu platter order, and made the pick up time at 5:15. When I got got to zippys at 5:15 and paid for my order and come to find out it wasn't even ready. Hungry for some belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream? Zippy's has it & it was great! Nice and crispy...the strawberries and cream add the sweetness so you don't really need the syrup, that is unless you want a sugar high! Also the corn beef hash is delicious too...they even note that is is homemade! I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw my plate handed to me, but after the first bite, I knew I'd order this again! For us non-locals who continue to vacation here, Zippy's, in my opinion, is one of the better Hawaiian plate lunch chains! Hands down, I go here over L&L which is now on the mainland, and I don't think, as good. I keep hoping that Zippys' will find its way to the mainland, and please come to the San Francisco Bay Area first! PLEASE. We arrived to Oahu around 9pm, went to pick up our rental car and asked the lady who was working, what's a good local Hawaiian joint that's still open, she recommending Zippy's. She said she eats there all the time and it's good. For all the ca folks, this place is more like a denny's, pretty much you see them everywhere, not like ABC store everywhere but you see it thru-out honolulu. My wife ordered some fried chicken dinner, i will admit the chicken was good, i had corned beef with eggs (ehhh), and my buddy had a mushroom burger which he said was ok. I have been a regular at Zippy restaurants for decades and returning after a long abscence, I found the food hasn't chantged much. This should have been a review of the Vineyard Zippy's but at 11:35 am the parking lot was full and overflowing. It was a short drive to the Nimitz branch. (There seem to be Zippy restaurants everywhere in Honolulu.) This branch, like many Zippy's is a three-in-one: fast food, bakery and restaurant. The fast food section was our choice for Portuguese bean soup and a mini Zip pac. The soup had lots of meat, beans, pasta and some veggies; it was as good if not better than I remembered. The fried chicken & teriyaki beef in the ZP were well cooked. Zippy's offers some healthy food too, but mostly at the fast food counter you get protein and carbohydrates--meat or fish and rice. read more

I say this because I am one of those people that knows exactly what is on the menu, but I always look at it like it is the fist time I have been there...and don't get me started on my ordering process. My family and I have been coming to this Zippys for years. And I must say the quality of service has really dropped after the renovation of Vineyard. Vineyard employees was at the Nimitz Zippys while it renovated. Last 11/25/15 we ate at the dining area and the quality of food had dropped. The Portuguese bean soup was not warm and the toss salad looked old. It seems like it was sitting there for a while. Waitreses and waiters took a while to bring water and our drinks. Our food came out first than our drinks. The quality of customer service has really dropped too for both the fast food and restaurant side. Just so everyone knows they weren't that busy last night. I'll have enough to try another Zippys. This one really lost its appeal. As for the fast food side, they get your order wrong. When you say you want all rice you still get the salad with your plate when you don't want it. And when you ask for forks instead of grabbing the handle they grab the fork side with their hands. That's not right. Also it seems like even though their 4 or 5 people behind the counter; it seems like there's no one that comes out and wipe the tables down. Been a loyal fan of Zippy's since its beginnings. Love the food love the variety prices Fair. But tonight my wife brother and myself went there for dinner. Service not that great. Example we order dessert my wife ordered lemon meringue there was none our server came back when she brought my dessert and my brothers and inform my life that they were out of lemon meringue asked if she like anything else she said she'll have a piece of bread pudding. We waited and waited and waited finally my brother had to remind her she forgot my wife's bread pudding. Then we waited quite a while for our bill we had to ask for it. My rating is not for the food but the great customer service from their managers Michael and Ren. First of all, I paid for a bill that wasn't even mine, my fault I didn't look at the breakdown. I let that go because I should have checked. Last night I got my bank statement and I was charged for 2 separate bills so I called and spoke to Ren. He was very pleasant and apologetic. He was not able to assist me but he advised me to call the morning manager who had the authority to assist me. I called this morning and spoke to Michael, he was very nice and he got all the info from me and called me back within 10 minutes.
