    Greek Salad
    Sophie Jane K.

Old Zoe's is back! I hadn't been back here in years and my meal was incredible! I ate outside and enjoyed the nice weather. They brought my food out so quickly too. This was the most amazing salad ever. For one, you can see from the picture that the salad is gigantic, so I get to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The dressing, the chicken, the caramalized onions, and the surprise potatoe salad hiding underneath all made the best salad ever!

I ordered online so it was fast and easy to walk in and retrieve my order without any wait time.

Reopened in February of 2023 under original management with the original menu. Delicious food and great service, just like it used to be!

I love that the catfish is crispy on the outside but still tender and flavorful on the inside. I also really like the Village Salad it's fresh and light, which balances out the heavier parts of my meal. I usually pair it with their French fries because I can't resist the crispy, golden texture. Excellent service and dining experience. Great spot for business dinners or lunch with friends. I've tried looking at their vegetarian options too, and while I don't usually get them, I think they have some solid choices. I like that I can customize a salad or get a few sides to make a meal that's vegetarian-friendly. I think Tasty Town does a good job of offering something for everyone. I personally stick to my usual catfish meal, but I feel like I could explore more of their options if I wanted to try something different. Overall, I really enjoy my lunches there, and I always feel satisfied and happy with my choices.

That's a huge plus; the number of times I've seen referees having to pass on the side because they didn't have utensils! The entree was a chicken pita. It did have a few fresh onions, but I enjoyed them since I didn't have to be the one dragon breathing around the field all day. We did have a choice of roasted potatoes or basmati rice. The potatoes went much quicker than the rice; I had the potatoes and they were fantastic. There was also a tray of chocolate chip cookies provided. I don't think they were frash made; they looked similar to other restaurants generic chocolate chip cookies. They were a nice addition to the lunch, though. They also provided sweet and unsweet tea in gallon jugs.

Oh wow! So glad to have this establishment! I don't like what the "national bowl restaurant"…read more supports so not giving them my money! This place is better, food looks fresh, they refill the line often so everything looks and tastes better. For the price I was extremely happy with the freshly made bowl I ordered. My items weren't plopped halfheartedly by a bored teenager. My guac completely filled my cup. (Compared to the other place). The staff was friendly and the facilities are clean. I understand their policy that delayed getting inside the bathroom. The area is full of unfortunate unhomed individuals. Therefore, to maintain a clean and healthy environment for customers, it has to be locked. I'm cautious about parking downtown, but I lucked up on a space right in front. Therefore, I didn't have to use their parking lot that's nearby. I was so happy with my first impulse visit, I will certainly return when I have time to review my options more. Sorry was in hurry forgot to take pictures and check in! No cooked many hours ago dried out chicken chunks here. Beans didn't look like brown glue either.

It was a breeze to get to the free parking lot , walk a block or so to get right to it! For the first time , I went over by the tent area since it wasnt layered with people. The pork kabobs and fries were a nice little switch up from what I usually order. And SO good!!! I also had a beer ( of course) created by straight to ale specifically for the festival. I couldn't leave without getting some desserts and a Greek chicken meal to go. Coming on the first day was so relaxed and calm. No line , no waiting. The volunteers were ready to serve!!!! We were seated promptly handed menus and about 30 seconds later approached by the waitress for drink orders. We asked for a drink menu as there was nothing to advertise what drinks they were serving. She returned with 1 drink menu for all 3 of us and stood there waiting until we decided. We asked for some time so she left and returned about 2 mins later. We ordered drinks and she returned 2 mins later to take our food order. We ordered appetizers, salad and main courses. The drinks came quickly, the salads came right after and then about 3 mins later, the appetizers came out. 3 mins after that, the main courses arrived so we had plates stacked everywhere on the table and quickly tried to finish our salads and appetizers before the main dish got cold. The waitress never returned to the table until she brought the bill. The plates were all cleared by someone else. We saw her leave a bill at the table next to us and wait until they checked it over and figured out a payment method, so when she arrived at our table we just handed her a credit card. The food was average but the overall experience was terrible. I realize she was probably new and this may have been her first night but some training would go a long way! For $180 dinner, we expected a lot more.

Al's is right by UAB's campus and serves American and Mediterranean food. Their exterior is nice in theory, with a fountain and a pretty fence, but it needs some cleaning up. Their parking lot could also be better. It's a small lot hidden behind the building with some potholes and invisible parking lines. The interior is quite small, but they still have enough seating. I came in with the intention of trying a vegan menu item, but I was informed by a kind man working behind the desk that he wasn't sure what they had that was vegan. He asked another employee if they had falafel at the moment, but they didn't. He was very helpful, but I was still disappointed that they didn't have falafel since I've tried it before and enjoyed it. I continued to look at the menu and finally decided on the veggie burger. The price was nine dollars and some change, which was baffling to me as I only ordered the burger and nothing else. I only had to wait a couple of minutes for my order, and I took it to go. The burger was packaged with care, large in size, and had plenty of toppings. The burger tasted good and didn't have that weird taste that some vegetarian meat patties have. I really enjoyed the bun of the burger in particular since it was really soft, not soggy, and had lots of sesame seeds. The veggie burger is a pretty good vegetarian option on their menu!
