My husband and I have been meaning to eat at Gorji's after hearing about it through many avenues…read moreover the years, and we had a blast last month trying it for a late Valentine's Day dinner the Friday night after V-Day. The interior is super intimate, only 6 tables for the evening, and you're really being catered to and cooked for individually throughout the night. Also love that the restaurant has specific parking spots reserved, as this area always gets super packed at peak hours. We arrived slightly early before our reservation but were kindly seated immediately to enjoy grilled sourdough with dipping olive oil. The olive oil was itself magnificent, and came with parm as well as something citrus-y, maybe lemon. I never want to eat bread any other way! The house server also came around and recommend Marco Bonfante moscato d'asci when I requested a sweeter wine, which I loved. All the food we ate was incredible, but I do want to mention a couple of dishes that stood out the most. The first course catfish was truly amazing. Perfectly pan-fried, perfectly seasoned, on a bed of lemony arugula that complimented the savory flavors of the fish so well. Definitely understand why this is a regular on the prix fixe menus. The caesar salad was also incredible. Love the dressing and the inclusion of whole anchovies for you to enjoy with the salad. Chef Gorji truly has a way with the grill. The bone-in pork chop was honestly the best pork chop I've ever had in my life -- cooked to perfection, so tender and so flavorful and so moist, with amazing char on the outside. And it was also such a generous portion! The vodka sauce and gnocchi and langoustine provided a lovely balance to the plate, but the star of the show was truly the pork chop. We both loved it. The tenderloin with gnocchi gorgonzola was also excellent, and cooked perfectly medium rare as well. Both desserts we tried were unique and very good. Loved the tart savory sweet balance of the kefir cheese with medjool dates, and the vanilla ice cream went phenomenally well with drizzled dessert wine, tart mulberries, and crunchy pistachios. Also really love that this establishment is tip free, so you know exactly what you're paying from the beginning. My husband and I had a great time and would love to come back for more special occasions in the future!

The restaurant has six tables and six time slots on Open Table: one for each table and that's all the tables they serve for a night. I strongly recommend picking one of the first four if you can, because the restaurant has just four reserved parking spaces for guests and that area of Addison can be EXTREMELY tough to find parking at dinner time on a Friday or Saturday night. If you are time slot 5 or 6 definitely give yourself another 15 minutes to find parking and walk. The restaurant has just three staff members: Gorji himself, a waiter, and an additional chef in the back. You'll see the waiter all the time, he's a nice fellow with a humorous personal touch who will be zipping around the dining room and Gorji makes a personal tableside appearance with every course to make sure its to your liking. Tables are spaced about five feet apart so there's plenty of room to get around without feeling cramped and every table feels intimate and romantic. People talk at their tables but it never feels noisy. The menu partially rotates from week to week. There's a few staple items which are always there and then every week (on around Wednesday or Thursday) the new menu will be posted which will have 1-2 new items in every category. When we arrived at the restaurant we were also informed of an additional special item of the day not listed on the menu: a yellowfin tuna appetizer which we didn't order but sounded nice. The standout dishes for us were the catfish appetizer, the vanilla ice cream, and the kefir butterfly. The pan fried catfish was absolutely delightful, one of the best fried fishes I've ever had with a delicate crispy skin and tender juicy flesh, and a perfectly paired sauce. Don't sleep on the ice cream either. This is not a default ice cream scoop like a lot of fancy restaurants will toss you. They churn the ice cream in house and you can taste the difference, and paired with the wonderful wine sauce, dried berries, and rose petals it's a really over the top dish. Finally, the kefir butterfly is more than just a photo op. It looks very nice, but it actually tastes fantastic as well. The pomegranate reduction is amazing and goes so well with the cheese and the date. We were using forks to carefully scrape every last drop off the plate. The thing that sticks out to me about all the dishes we liked best though is the sauces. Gorji is a really REALLY standout saucier. The best dishes in the restaurant are the ones with sauce and the man has awards for his sauces hanging on the walls of the restaurant. If there's anything to be disappointed about here it's that the unsauced dishes are just not as good. We did not order the caesar salad (which has a sauce) and in hindsight that was a mistake. The Panzanella is fine, but it's just a caprise salad with bread. The sugar kiss melon is fine, but not memorable. The venison loin which we had came with a cognac sauce and that was really spectacular (though not to the heights of the catfish or the two desserts we had). The beef tenderloin lacked a sauce and, while it was cooked competently to an exacting standard, it just didn't really "pop" for me. The side vegetables for both dishes were completely dry and could have used something. For $130pp it's just... a lot. We enjoyed our experience. It's nice food, but you're paying a notable markup for the exclusivity of the whole six-tables-a-night setup and we weren't that hooked by it really. We just picked it out for the really interesting prix fixe menu. Yes, there's no tip. Yes, there's a 5% cash discount. But even with those things in mind this is like a $100pp meal with a $130pp price tag. It's not outrageous though. If the exclusive dining experience is very appealing to you though, you'll have a great time and think this is a great deal.

The staff was friendly, attentive, and everything felt clean and well taken care of. We started with the baked clams, which were prepared almost like escargot so flavorful and delicious. Then we had the carpaccio, which was super fresh and very well done. We tried the Caesar salad was fresh & tasty. For my main dish, I ordered the cartoccio, served wrapped in foil with pasta and mushrooms... and wow, it was incredible. So rich, so flavorful definitely a must-try. My boyfriend had the Siciliana with Alfredo pasta, and it was perfectly seasoned and very tasty. We also enjoyed a dirty martini to start (perfectly made), and ended up having a few bottles of wine their wine selection is extensive, and you can tell they really know what they're offering. One thing we loved was that the owners personally go table to table to check on guests. That personal touch really makes a difference. Overall, such a great experience. A calamari appetizer was very good with a scattering of jalapeno slices thrown in. The squid was properly cooked and tender rather than chewy. Drinks were good including an Italian Margareta and old fashion. Served in interesting glasses but with indifferent garnishes. I can't comment on the wine selection as we really never had a chance to order a bottle. My veal prosciutto was excellent with artichoke hearts and a pasta side. My wife was very impressed with the Cod Andiamo and veal piccata was equally good. Did not order desserts as we seldom saw our waiter. And thereby lies the problem. We waited 15 minutes before being greeted by our waiter. After apps were delivered we did not see him again for quite a while. He rushed off after taking our order so never had a chance to order wine. My gold standard for this level of Italian is Kenny's nearby and, although the food was good, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. Perhaps they were short staffed but I'm reluctant to give them a second chance. Kenny's is less expensive, equal or better food, reasonable wine and drink prices and great service. The cucumber drink was refreshing, although I personally like it even more when it's made with sekanjabin (mint syrup). The wrap and salad were both delicious. We also received a complimentary soup, which was so good! Another nice touch is that if you put your cellphone in a box during your meal, you get a free dessert. We ordered tea to go with the dessert, and it made for a great ending to the meal. The service was excellent, and the decor and seating area are beautiful, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed.
