Beware of this place. I don't know where to begin. First off if your starving. You will probably die of hunger because it took them nearly 2 hours to deliver our order and we literally work around the corner. My company and I use to order breakfast from them all the time until it started pissing me off that every time we would pay they when theh delivered they would ask us how much change we wanted back!!! I want all my change idiot and I'll give you the tip I want. Who ask this? Finally after months of not ordering we decided to order lunch from them today. We ordered at 11:00 and it was delivered at 12:30. When the OWNER delivered my food and the total was 27.25 and I gave her 40. she asked me if I wanted my change!!! Who the f**k do they think they are? Yes I want my change!!! Then this is the cherry on top of the story. I had a few ones in my wallet and I was going to give her as a tip (which I shouldn't have even gave her a dollar because of the 1 1/2 wait) when she was giving me my change back she said "oh I already took my tip from the change." Why would you take your tip? How the hell did you know what I was going to give you or if I was? I told her in her face her company is ridiculous and we will never purchase from them again I usually don't write reviews but this is ridiculous service. Great find in an obscure part of L.A. Been coming here for years and finally decided to write something. Z's has a wide variety from deli to plated meals. I normally don't like places with such a variety but this place is an exception. Had the tilapia w/Persian rice & salad. Brewed ice tea a plus. The tilapia was fresh, moist and flavorful. The rice is definitely not out if a box. You can't go wrong here. Everything made to order so you have to have a little patience. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. If you can't find it on their large menu then just ask; they'll try to accommodate. The people are friendly & attentive. I'm in love with the Asian owner. When my friend told me that we were going to visit my other friend at her family's restaurant in LA, I was expecting Korean, oh how I was pleasantly mistaken. And I'm letting my fellow Yelpers know that this 4-star rating has no direct correlation to the fact my friend's family owns this place, it is simply a good place to get food. Now, back to my food tale. Z's place is surrounded by an overwhelming amount of industrial space and located in an area where few Yelpers may choose to voyage. To them I say, go on an adventure to Z's place for simply good seafood, Mediterranean cuisine, and barbequed items, among the plethora of choices. My head was spinning with so many choices and I was flabbergasted by the variety of food here (Again, I was expecting Korean food). I suggest grabbing Z's sampler trio (chicken, fish, shrimp, nachos, rice, etc.) with its tantalizing garlic sauce. You may just be caught thinking, "Whoever thought of garlic sauce on nachos is a genius," just as my friends were when digging into this plate of food. If you are having a tough time making up your mind, my friend (the one whose parents owns the restaurant) gave me the inside scoop on some of her favorites: the clam chowder, the afforementioned sampler trio, and the kebab dishes. Finally, I've just got to mention how this place works. It's your typical go up to the counter and order in one spot and pick up slot on the side. The thing that is amazing though is that despite a large volume of people (only open during lunchtime for the local working crowd), they are terribly efficient. I work in Vernon for almost 2 years now, and this is (by far) one of my favorite restaurants in the area. It's very hard to find good restaurants in Vernon, and even harder to find fresh salmon for affordable prices like we find in Z's. My boss is a fan, the man eats lunch in this restaurant EVERY DAY. No kidding. I am a fan of their variety, their service, their love for food and also because they're always one step ahead. Always improving, changing the menu, offering you a cup of clam chowder for free when you look sad... it's really comforting coming here. My recommendations are: the kabobs, the trio and, for breakfast, the ham and eggs sandwich (ask for jalapenos inside). =P read more

My friend from work took me here one day to get lunch out of the office and boy was I pleasantly surprised! He had recommended the philly cheese steak, but I opted for the Z's special chicken. While his looked pretty tasty, I was very satisfied with my order. For less than $10, I had a couple pieces of grilled chicken that had an orange glaze on it that was super delicious. It also came with salad or vegetables and a good rice as well. It also had carmelized onions and peppers that went well with the whole dish. It even came with a drink! I was really hungry when we got there so I ate the whole thing, but it definitely could have lasted a couple of meals. An okay establishment that serves the working industrial neighborhoods, not even remotely great in any aspect, but acceptable when considering the alternative. Z's Place bills them selves as a seafood place, but they really are a jack of all trades, master of none kinda place. The menu is humongous and the price is inflated, but again, in our Vernon neighborhood, you just can't be picky. Food: Everything from burgers to tacos to fish to grills to wraps to soup to sandwiches to salads, everything is somewhere between bleh to aiight. The menu is ginormous but in this case, not really a plus. Service: Friendly but slow, there's s strange vibe with the korean owner lady screaming at her kitchen, while her friendly son takes orders, talk about reverse stereotypes... It is slow, though reliably so, and thus easy to get used to. Price: Inflated because of the lack of competition, you're going to pay $8 for a cheap burger combo, $9 for a decent fish burrito combo, and $13 for a catfish plate. Nothing is too expensive, but nothing is really affordable either. The Rest: No real decor, furnishings are ok, utensils are all plastic, and there's a nice 'hum' of conversation in the place from all the regulars. Easy to relax in, nothing to get worked up over. Conclusion: 2.5 stars, everything is very average. I bumped up to a 3 because ultimately I'm happy this is here as opposed to another starbucks or mexican joint. So give it a couple of tries and it might grow on you. read more

Not bad. Not bad at all. The place is pretty unique, located in the grenwich area. The place itself if pretty big and had outdoor seating. There is all sorts of menu items ranging for sandwiches to salads to mexican to asian. I was confused but intrigued. Seeing a large menu like that already tells me the food is going to be mediocre at best. And I was right. I had the philly cheesesteak which was decent but very plain and bland and I was basically dipping it in ketchup and tapatio. The fries were plain regular fries. The entire meal was a combo meal under 10 bucks which is great as It comes with a drink also. Plenty of drink selection and I choose to go with the house made lemonade apparently. What I really like about the place is the hustle and bustle of the staff. Its interesting and unique and fun to watch. Its a very face paced environment and the food comes out quick and the server lady is on her shit. She is constantly yelling at her staff and rushing orders out. Its pretty awesome. While there are many food options, the only menu item I'll order besides the chowder bowl is the Chicken Kabob plate. They have now added the option of brown rice at no extra cost! What restaurant do you know that doesn't charge you for brown rice? For $10, I get salad, pita and hummus, tender chicken and brown rice! Oh, and don't forget the drink. I cam across Z's today when I was trying to figure out where to eat with my mom and girls . I'm so glad we ended up here. The customer service Was amazing . I believe the owners were the ones helping us today with our order. They were so sweet and great with my girls. The food was delicious and perfect sharing size.They have a huge selection of different types of food. The location is very clean and with plenty of room to sit inside and outside. Yummmm! Z's is in a perfect location, smack down in the middle of Vernon's industrial city! Came here with a few of my friends durning our lunch. The place was loaded, but still enough seats and no wait (prob due to the cute guy working at the register, i think his name was Justin). We all ate different plates, they were so many selections. The food was amazing and the proportions were huge! There's no way if you go to this place and not find something you like or try again.
