I went here quite a few times in the winter cold due to a combination of convenience, proximity, impatient kids, price, and satisfyingly tasty slices that came out quickly. I enjoyed eating the slices fresh in the place since I could put peppers and hot sauce to my heart's content without having to trudge back to the hotel. This place has no seats and only standing area. It's quick and simple. Service was straightforward and blunt. Perfect place to go for late night meal. Even though it's really cheap, the pizza is still excellent. They also have seasonings and sauce by the standing area that go really well with the pizza. The pizzas were hit, cheesy and good quality. I came into this pizza store to have a good time because one slice is $1.50 but then I was extremely upset that the cashier charged me $5.00 for 3 slices of cheese pizza. It was supposed to be $4.50 so I was pissed off. I don't know if I was ripped off because I used my credit card since the pizza was too cheap. I went to my nearest bank but the bank was still under construction so I did not have cash. Maybe I would not have been ripped off if I used cash. Pizza tasted very cheesy but the fact that I got ripped off was just a disaster. read more

If you're in the mood for cheap pizza after a long day in New York City, then stopping at this or any of the other $1.50 pizza stores is the way to go. for four dollars I think two slices of cheese pizza and a canned soda is a good deal. It's a little bit extra If someone in your party wants pepperoni. not a lot of place to eat inside of the store however, I was able to grab a little corner of the counter and eat my pizza and enjoy my drink. Continuing my tour of "cheap pizza joints" in NYC, I popped into $1.50 Fresh Pizza for lunch during a recent work trip. And yes, I also too lament the death of $.99 pizza places which used to be ubiquitous, but factoring in inflation an increase to $1.50 is not bad. This is definitely a no frills place. There is a small foyer/waiting area once you walk in...and don't be surprised if there is a line out the door. But I've never had to wait more than 10-15 min, so it's tolerable. There are two narrow counters on either side of the room where you can stand and eat your slices. The menu is also affixed to the walls in large enough font, that even for my diminished eye sight, makes reading easy. Once you get the front of the line, there will usually be 1-2 cheese pizzas in the small window below the register. If you want speciality slices like pepperoni, sausage, etc., go ahead and place your order and stand to the side as the back kitchen prepares your food. Again, you'll have to wait about 10-15 minutes. I usually will get the special (which as of this review) is two cheese slices and a can of soda for $4. NOTE: This place is CASH ONLY so don't visit unless you've stopped by an ATM first. This is obviously not "gourmet" pizza, but I'd say it's the authentic NY slice I grew up eating. The crust could be a bit more charred, but the kitchen is cranking out the pie as fast as possible, so you'll usually be assured of "fresh-ish" slices. There is a decent amount of cheese and do what New Yorkers do and top each slice with garlic powder, chili flakes, and Italian seasoning which is found on the side counters. It gets super crowded inside with customers who represent a cross section of NY. I've seen people in business suits, droves of students, Uber/Lyft drivers, and of course, tourists. If there is no space, you can take a short 7-8 min walk to Central Park and eat on a bench. But contrary to popular belief, most New Yorkers are actually courteous and will vacate their spot at the counter once their finished. Does this place serve the best pizza? No...but for the price and being located in Mid-Town, I'd say it's perfect to stop in if you're looking for a quick bite. read more

I have no idea when this spot turned into $1.50 pizza, but I frequented when they were 99¢ pizza. The pizzas sold quick, especially during lunch time, so it was always fresh. The spot is small, and you're meant to just grab your slice and go. However, if needed, they have a short counter you can quickly eat on. It isn't the cleanest, but it isn't bad considering it's a 99¢ (or $1.50 now) slice. Definitely great for a quick snack when you're on the go. read more

I've been coming here since it was 99cent pizza. It's always been good for the price they charge. It tastes fresher than the tourist trap places around time square. If you're near 55th and Broadway and need a quick fix for a single dollar, this place does the job,just keep your expectations in check. To be honest, the sauce wasn't great; it lacked flavor and was pretty forgettable. However, the crust was actually a pleasant surprise. Pizza for $1!!! Sign me up! While in NYC, we stumbled upon this small, pizza spot that was around the corner from our hotel and boy were we happy we did. When we first stopped in, we ordered a large pepperoni and ham pizza which was only about $18 and it tasted amazing. The dough was soft and the pizza was cheesy and delicious. Every day after that (sometimes twice a day lol), we stopped in for a $1 slice of cheese pizza and it was always fresh and appetizing. Every time we stopped in, no matter the time, there were always people either standing in line or eating their pizza inside on the ledge which means this is definitely a local favorite! Super fast service. Prices are fantastic and affordable for everyone. Food is delicious. Always busy inside. Line moves fast. Wait is about 1 or 2 minutes. We popped in to grab a couple of slices and cokes during a week day and found a short, but quickly moving line. They only had cheese in the window so we had to wait for about 5 minutes for more variety. The shop is small but they do have a counter if you want to eat. Amazing cheese pizza for 99 cent! What a steal. I went to visit while visiting Times Square and decided to check out pizza spots whilst in the area. Upon arriving, this place had a long lineup and joined in. Cheese Pizza: Super fresh and great for the price point. No complaints. They only take cash so make sure to bring that. Just down the street from our hotel, 99 Cent Fresh Pizza serves pizza by the slice for a fantastic price. $1 will get you a slice with toppings added for an extra $0.25. I recommend getting a topping because your pizza slice will be baked a second time with the toppings to get a wonderfully crisp crust. The staff was friendly and service was super fast. Literally $1. Cash Only! Just hand them cash, they give you change and a slice of pizza. Turn cash to food $1 = cheese $1.5 = pepperoni $2 = specialty topping pizzas Cheese pizza is great! Don't be expecting the best pizza of your life, but it won't be disgusting either. Plenty of oil to satisfy you, and the crust is still hot and crunchy. The line at this place moves quickly, but I was lucky to come when they were not too busy. Where else can you buy legit food for $1? Almost nowhere else in the US. I'm very satisfied with what you get for literally $1, when people easily pay $20 for something that's tastes worse, that won't fill you up. So not technically 99¢, the basic cheese slices are actually $1. Pretty big line so they must be doing something right. Very no frills, but gotta keep costs down, right? Cheese Slice: Adequate. It did have a crispy bottom, but the dough seemed a bit fluffier than normal pizza, almost bread like. The sauce was extremely skimpy; barely saw it or tasted it. The cheese was fine, not overly generous portion but not too skimpy. And the slice itself was smaller than a regular slice. You can't get much for $1 nowadays, so that's something. But if you splurge on a $3 or $4 slice elsewhere, it will probably taste better. read more

Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.
