My favorite place to go for NY style pizza by the slice. They moved since my last trip to NY. They are now located just around the corner on 8th instead of 57th. No seats just tables for standing and eating. Actually perfect and what I prefer. They toss the slice into the oven to heat up after you order. $6 avg per slice. Got a slice of Margherita and a slice of mushroom and spinach. Love the crust and great stretch on the cheese. The walls are full of famous people eating a slice. Amazing pepperoni pizza- might be the best pizza ever says my hubby. We went right at opening, I know people don't come for that service, but the staff were not very friendly or welcoming. Anyway, we ordered several slices of pizza to enjoy, they heated them all up, you can stand and eat inside (no tables or chairs), just a simple shelf, but we took ours away and ate at the hotel. Delicious pizza. I don't know why they don't label the pizzas at their store though, I asked for a vegetarian (as I saw a mushroom with other veggies pizza, but I got a pizza with green peppers, black olives and red onions instead oops). I looked at other photos people posted but I'm not sure if they are all from the location that we went to (near Central Park on 57th). Great display of ready to eat pizza. Standing spots inside. Lot of people in line when I came. Service: not much interaction, just point what I like and pay. Food: I only ordered the Mushroom pizza. They're around the corner, around 1/2 block north on 8th from the old location on 57th. Still counter service, but there are a few counters on both sides where you can stand and eat. I was disappointed in the selection. No sausage or pepperoni, but there was a pepperoni and ricotta, so I had one slice of that and one cheese, while my wife had two cheese. Slices are still good, but the crust was uneven. One of mine was good. The other was over crispy (too crunchy), while one of my wife's was practically raw. Still a good value to get four slices and four drinks (two soda and two water) for around $35. read more

Quick to go location near Columbus circle! they also offer FREE DELIVERY! We had a white slice + chicken and it was great. We ordered there and took it to go but wish I knew about the free delivery option. They just have a little tiny inside area, it's a bit smushed to wait if you're getting to go so will be doing the delivery next time. You have to really stumble into this by chance to find it. Google/Apple Maps is just smothered by so many good pizzerias in Manhattan. Pop's is also smacked right in the middle of the business district, it seems very unassuming to find just a diamond in the rough. The price of a plain slice is competitive. What you get is a crispy, thin, saucy and right amount of cheese. It's not too salty and it's not too floppy. This, right here, is a New York Slice. read more

This is my family's "go-to" pizza joint in our neighborhood and we frequently order delivery from here. They've left some ingredients out on the last few orders but, here's the thing, the pizza still is good and, so, we've been kind of "oh, what the heck" about it. Excited to discover this "hole in the wall" Pop's Pizza, around the corner from Columbus Circle. The slice looked great and size for $3 bucks in this neighborhood was a good deal. My fresh basic slice came out quickly. That being said, while the crust was excellent for a classic New York slice, the rest disappointed with barely any flavor - possibly only faintly of cheese. (Perhaps just a bit more sauce or seasonings in the sauce would help!) As is, Pop's Pizza's cheese slice is world's worth the extra compared to one of those $0.99/1.50 awful options you may find close by! For me, I'm likely to opt for something elsewhere. read more

Close to the park and as good as it gets for a low key, sidewalk slice. We were at the playground in CP and yelped what was the best pizza around and this came up. We also noticed that several families had whole pies from this place at the park so we knew it had to be good. My son still talks about this place. Really good pizza spot that was near where I was staying. Highlight for me was the cheese slice as it was delicious despite its simplicity. Great chew on the crust as well. I also got the buffalo chicken which was also pretty good if you're into that type of slice. Finally I also ordered the pepperoni square slice which was okay. I was visiting a friend up near the park and I was hungry and wanted to grab some pizza. He had recommended this place because he said it was fast and I've never heard of it. It's a very small spot with a walk up counter. There was a little bit of aligned and really, no space in the place. The workers are super fast and they are pumping out a lot of pizza in here. They did have a lot of different varieties, but I just went with the pepperoni and the cheese slices. The cheese slice was three dollars, which is not terrible for New York City at all. I live just a couple of blocks from the Times Square location and am compelled to say this establishment's ware - calzones, pepperoni rolls and pizzas - are among the finest I've tasted in New York City or anywhere, which is saying something (that assessment excludes their garlic knots, which lack flavor). But it is perhaps the quality of their product that contributes to an overweening arrogance that, like the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld, causes them to treat their customers abysmally. On one occasion, I stopped by their store to order a four-slice box and the counterman dismissed by saying an order for that product could only be made online. I wonder what possible difference could there be regarding placing an order in person as opposed to doing so online. And just last night, because, as Boss Jim Getties says to Charles Foster Kane, I usually require more than one lesson, I placed an online delivery order at around 6:30 in the evening but the order didn't arrive until 9:15 PM. By that time, I had, after waiting over 90 minutes, cancelled my order and gotten my dinner from another establishment. The deliveryman simply showed up nearly three hours after my order was entered. No apologies, no offer of a discount or refund, just bupkus. So, I think I'll be giving Pop's a long rest. I've discovered another place, Ledo's Pizza, that also produces a superior pie, so I'll patronize them in future. read more

Definitely a good takeout pizza spot despite being in the thick of one the most touristy areas. Like their jalapeño pepperoni, plain margarita. Their other location down in 52nd St is way sub-par.
