4. Brisket Pho
Michelle H.

This is a cute and welcoming location, there's takeaway and sit down services available. The service is fine, they employees are friendly. When we went, my friend and I just wanted to have some water with our meal but the server told us their ice machine was down, so we said water without ice is fine. However when he brought the water, it was straight up hot water like for tea. Not exactly what we imagined when he said the ice was out. We ended up getting soda since it was the only cold option but it was canned soda which I wish wasn't the case. The pho was fine, but I found myself adding more to tweak the broth to my liking. Again, not sure if they were just eliminating food waste, but they specified that their beef broth(?) was on special. They included beef broth with my brisket pho but my friend who ordered chicken pho, also got beef broth and didn't count for the special price even though it was very obviously beef broth that they used.

Comfy, brightly lit dining area. Perfect for a late night snack

Nice late night offerings open til 2:00 am. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Attentive service in a nice brightly lit dining area. They have a wide offering of different beef cuts for the Pho. Fried egg rolls are extra meaty but not the traditional cha Gio with fresh leafy veggies and nuoc mam dipping sauce. The pho broth was fresh and home made. It's good for those that prefer it on the sweeter side with mostly cinnamon and star anise flavors. I personally prefer more umami and more balanced flavor with stronger ginger, garlic, onion flavors balanced with the warm spices. Over all the good experience.

Pho & Brew is definitely a late night spot, and convenient if Soup Shop down the way is too busy, and frankly, that's all it really boils down to. The inside is small yet filled with tables, and we came on a Friday night around 12 AM. They offered me a 20% discount after being told that the Pho that I wanted didn't have meatballs. It was either that or, they do have a 20% discount in general but I was a little shaky about what exactly it entails. Majority of the pho here is 13-15 dollars, but I think you could find better Pho elsewhere. The soup was un-naturally sweet and wasn't strained so the spices still floated in the soup, not reminiscent of the clear cut broth we always see in other Pho places. But more importantly, for 13-15 dollars, the meat was small and not enough to justify the price. Maybe 3 small pieces of sliced ribeye, a piece of tendon and don't think I saw any flank. And the noodles were overcooked and definitely tasted like they had sat for a while, but that may just be the type of noodle. Service was a little lacking as well. We requested waters and had to follow up 3 times to get them, even after our food had arrived; and they were full of ice and barely full (one was almost halfway.) Keep in mind, this is on a Friday night and we were only 1 of 3 tables currently there. While I want to love this place, unfortunately I would have just waited at Soup Shop for better quality Pho at the same price point, and more attentive service. Unfortunately I don't think I'll give this place another try because Pho places are a dime-a-dozen, but it was nice to be able to try another unique take on another restaurant's Pho

2/21/26 Pho with rare steak!
Anna J.

Something quick and easy after a long day at Disneyland and wanted soup to warm up. We found this spot and there were no waiting. It's a very small shop. I made it simple and ordered Pho with rare steak. I'm very picky with the broth and I thought it was just ok. Broth is very cloudy and dark in color. It's also sweet. I'm use to clear clean broths. Just ok. Staff looked very tired and gave us low energy vibes. The bathroom situation also needed some help. It's a shared restroom Women/Men. No toilet paper and empty soap in the dispenser. Yikes.

Shrimp spring rolls

Tbh if I could put 0 stars I would. To begin with, my husband saw an older gentleman pick his nose and scratch his neck...my hubby wanted to leave but I said wait let's give this place the benefit of the doubt. This happened on June 16 @1:30 AM ( we were the only ones) Upon getting seated..we placed our order and my husband was able to see the man cook and toss the noodles with NO GLOVES. UNSANITARY. The shrimp spring rolls were raw. Trust me. I've had these multiple times and they've NEVER tasted THIS BAD. The pho itself? DISGUSTING. Broth had a sweet taste to it and weird smell. YALL MARUCHAN TASTE BETTER THAN THIS. PERIOD. I told the people there and they just nodded their head and continued to CHARGE ME FOR EVERYTHING. Disappointing!!!! I'm sorry but this place isn't it. You guys looking for a good pho place? PHO LU & PHO LAB!!!!!!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!!!!!!

Hair found in the pho with meatball
Reyna V.

Arrived at 9:30pm, sat ourselves on the high chairs which felt very unsteady. We ordered pho with meatballs and pho with rare steak. We received two iced waters, ice came from an open ice container on the counter. The steak in the rare steak pho was tough and unlike any other meat I've ever received in pho. The flavor was off, I ate some of it but couldn't make myself eat the steak or more than a quarter of the broth. My daughter's meatball soup had a hair that she found in the soup towards the end. I didn't bring it up to the server, I just knew I'd never be back. I paid and during check out I was given a free Thai iced tea to take. Anyways, the servers were nice and friendly but the cleanliness of the place, the taste and the hair will be why we will not be going back.

After a full day at Disneyland we were craving some Vietnamese fare. Although Disneyland had plenty of food to offer doing 10k steps in a day built up an hefty appetite. Pho & Brew was calling our name offering different types of pho combinations and rice dishes. The ambiance reminded me of a simple yet effective mom and pop establishment. The cashier/server insist we sit anywhere and ensure he'd be ready for us asap. This menu was very simple but pretty much had everything you needed. We ordered Combination pho # 1, meatball pho, fried rice with grilled pork, garlic noodles with pork skewers. The pho was delicious pho broth was on point very surprising. I didn't even have to put anything in it. The broth was rich and not too salty but flavorful and delicious on all cylinders if you ever go this is a must order. Fried rice is very unique and delicious Vietnamese style paired well with the grilled pork. Garlic noodles very underrated looks simple but packed with flavor and very addictive goes with the pork skewers hand in hand. The pork by the way grilled to perfection with its lemongrass marinade is a staple in Vietnamese fare so succulent and soft so delicious. This is no upscale establishment but very underrated mom and pop business that's thriving. This is a very affordable yet delicious if your not trying to spend crazy money for food especially after Disneyland this place is it bang for your buck for sure definitely go check this place out close minds don't get fed and i recommend you go feed yourself at Pho & Brew delicious!

Bo Luc lac + pho Ga

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Parking: 3/5 Family friendly: 3/5 Stroller friendly: 2/5 ADA accessible: 3/5 Either the name Pho & Brew, the first thing that came to mind was, beer and pho. Which I thought was interesting, but the brew part ended up being coffee brew (lol). My daughter and I ended up ordering Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef $12.99) has excellent flavors though for the price, I felt like it lacked enough protein. Inside, it seats about 12-15 people comfortably with a 55 inch TV screen showing the latest YouTube or music vids. If you're in the area, is drop by.

Garlic Noodle with Fried Chicken Wings
Megan N.

Quick service. I ordered the garlic noodles and chicken wings to-go. The combos are definitely a steal! I've ordered pho & fried rice from here before also. They normally play some music videos on the tv. It's a small cozy place. Whenever I feel under the weather I always order their pho. The owners are really friendly. If you're craving something quick, affordable and tasty this is the spot !

1 order of Spring rolls

We went to Soup Shop on a rainy Friday night and the wait was over an hour long, so we decided to check out another place in the area. That's when we found this place. I called ahead and the woman on the phone said there was no wait. However, when we got there less than 10 mins later the open seats were taken. We decided to wait and were seated within 10 mins. The place is super small. They have 4/5 seating sections each with a couple of tables which could seat 4 ppl total. They also have a small bar seating are with 4 seats. There's no waiting area or outside seating. The menu is very limited. Only a few appetizers, pho and entree options. We ordered pho and spring rolls with Thai Teas. The food was good and of good quality with generous portions. There was only one waitress, but the place is small enough to where you think she'd can handle it. However, our pho bowls came out before our drinks and appetizers. We didn't get any fixings for our pho and when we'd ask her for stuff she was short and not very friendly. To sum it up, I'd come back for the food but the customer service deters me.

So surprised why this place isn't ranked higher! The food prices are OUTSTANDING! For those rare nights of drinking and you're craving pho-- this is the place to be! Service is kind and friendly, ambiance is intentionality clean & fresh-- perfect pho place! $10 beef stew pho?! WOW was delicious. Top it off with a $5.99 fried rice you can add the protein at home, can't wait to come back and try more! Saving grace at 1am when everything else was closed!

Rib bone pho
Sara G.

First off. Service and ambiance were perfectly fine. They made you feel welcome. All good there. It was the food that was okay and that's why I'm in the middle. The rib bone was tasty but too fatty for me and usually I don't mind that. I will take it tho because it does help restore the body towards winter time. It just was overwhelming because the broth was a bit too oily. I couldn't finish it and I do feel sluggish today. Maybe I could have finished it with a different meat but still. I guess I shouldn't have to.. if by chance reduction there then all is well. I wouldn't have minded at all the rib bone fat ratio at all! Keep that broth lean & yum.

I went here because it was nearby and I didn't want to go to Soup Shop (the other pho place in the area) because I knew it would be crowded. When I came in the evening, there were not many people. The vibe is quiet and low-key. I got the brisket pho which was good. It wasn't anything spectacular in terms of the broth or toppings, but I thought the meat quality was yummy and solid. It definitely satisfies a basic pho fix if you're craving it. The eggrolls are also pretty good and filling. I think they are homemade and they're piping hot when they come out. Price was reasonable. Service was standard. Location is not the best in a slightly shady strip mall, but I wouldn't say it's particularly dangerous. Lots of parking available.

One thing that really stood out was our server's attentiveness. He mentioned that the sauce served with the shrimp spring rolls contained pork after learning about my dietary restriction. He kindly brought the regular sauce for my mom to enjoy while also bringing me several different sauces to try with my spring rolls. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made me feel genuinely welcomed and valued as a customer. He also personally recommended the Luna rice cakes, and I'm so glad we took his suggestion because they were delicious! The dish included seven rice cakes with an assortment of Asian vegetables, and the flavors were excellent. Our final dish was the shaken beef with garlic noodles, featuring tender filet mignon, mushrooms, and onions. Everything was cooked perfectly. The beef was incredibly tender, and the garlic noodles were flavorful without being overly oily. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back. It's absolutely worth the drive, and my mom agreed. She's already talking about coming back with the rest of our family!

The food came out at different times, and my family was waiting almost 10min before we all got our meals together. They served the first plate, with no updates on when everyone else's food would be out. The Shaken Beef is a little dry and very oily, but the flavors were decent and the rice and salad are great. The portions for everything skim on the proteins, mainly serving onions to make the meals look bigger. The Goi Cuon was okay, nothing crazy and always a staple. It's not justifiable to eat here at this price, because the quality isn't upscale. I think we're better off eating at other places in Westminster.

Be prepared: this place is incredibly popular, especially during peak hours. Parking can definitely be challenging because of how busy it is. The last time I visited on a Monday, the lot was completely full, and I ended up parking on the street. The restaurant is also primarily cash only, so come prepared. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move. While I'll miss the original spot, I'm excited for the new space--hopefully with more parking! Some places are worth the wait, and Phở 79 is absolutely one of them.

Have been to this restaurant many times, and food is always consistent! Came visit to the restaurant last week, and ordered my favorite Grilled Escargot with Garlic Butter and Peppercorn, Grilled Scallops with Cheese, and my all-time favorite Chilean Sea Bass hot pot! The grilled escargots are a must-have when visiting this place! These are perfectly grilled with rich garlic butter for sweetness, and with a slight kick of spiciness from the peppercorn. Don't forget to also dip the escargot meat with black pepper and a few squeeze of fresh lime juice! If you like melted cheese, then the grilled scallops with cheese would be the perfect match. Each scallop is covered melted cheese and comes sizzling on a hot plate when ordered! Last but certainly not least, my favorite dish of this restaurant is the Chilean Sea Bass hot pot. The order comes with your own tabletop gas stove, along with a hot pot filled with a tom yum like sour soup base. For ingredients, it also includes a plate with slices of pineapple, quarter cut fresh tomato slices, fresh bean sprouts, rice noodles, and a full plate of large pieces of Chilean Sea Bass.
