We came by to grab a bite before our road trip to go back up north as they were advertising $8.50 pho. Upon entering, no one greeted us so we sat ourselves down. We were able to flag someone down to get menus. We ordered two bowls of pho and I got the vermicelli bowl with egg rolls, pork, and shrimp. They have utensils at the table and we grabbed the soup spoons and noticed they were all new but unwashed. All the spoons still had the stickers/labels on the back. Unsettling to know they didn't wash these and just left sticker residue and the remaining sticker they couldn't peel off of the soup spoons. We also asked for water at the beginning when ordering food and did not receive the water until the end of our meal when we were already done. The lady that was going to give us our water had them in her hands and was coughing so much she had to go to the back of the restaurant or back in the kitchen and then came out to us with the water. We did not touch or drink the water. You get what you pay for which is not good customer service or cleanliness. I love this place! It was definitely a childhood spot for me and my family since my grandmas house was near by and even after 15+ years I still come back. The restaurant does a great job accommodating for big parties, pushing tables together and having the space needed for all of us to sit together. We had just come home from Hollywood and were ready for some late dining. Finding parking at this late hour for this place was easy. We were greeted and sat at table 21. The lovely missus came for good company and conversation. Our son orders Pho Dac Biet #14 and I followed his lead. Regular bowls were good for us. We also ordered a bright presentation of sautéed vegetables placed on fried rice noodles that were on the perimeter of the plate. I've seen this before on menus as birds nest (vegetables). The sauce for this nested warm vegetables plate was what made this a stellar choice. My taste buds were happy as I took turns with my chopsticks picking vegetables and the crispy noodles. The pho was pleasant as well. The broth was clear and beefy flavors from the thin steak as well as tendons wafted up for a satisfying fragrance and taste. The side dish of Thai basil and bean sprouts and sliced jalapenos were fresh and bountiful. Patrons at adjacent tables were pretty loud as the Pho Thanh restaurant had Staff busily tending and serving at this late hour.
