    Pork Belly Skewers
    Tiffany C.

$11.99 for King sized Bento Boxes?! What a steal! The Tonkatsu portion was HUGE and was super juicy with light breading. The skewers were super cost friendly (6 skewers for ($11.99)! Juicy as well, and tasted amazing with the sauces. They offer four different sauces that you can choose from: Thai, Katsu, Teriyaki, and Curry. Our favorite was the Thai! It went so well with the Pork Dumplings that were super crispy and juicy! It also went super well with the Pork Belly Skewers! My husband even dipped his Tonkatsu into it even though we got the Katsu sauce for it. My mom is not a huge fan of white meat usually but the Chicken Breast was super juicy (not dry at all!) and paired well with the Teriyaki sauce. The restaurant is small but has such welcoming vibes with great lighting! The service was outstanding! We can't wait to come back to try the other stuff on the menu!

101 eatery does one thing very well. A lot of Katsu, for a very, very good price. For 11.99 you get what seems to be enough Katsu to feed 3 people, some salad, a heap of rice, soup and curry sauce. While the curry sauce has a strong clove flavor, it's still very tasty. It's one of the best value lunches in the bay. Cheap, filling, and very well done. I've also had their skewers, but skip those (although they tasted good), it's all about the Chicken Katsu here. This is now on my permanent lunch rotation!

Cool Asian fusion spot. Hip on the inside great variety reminds me of being back in Hong Kong. Helen, the manager runs a great tight ship. I definitely recommend this place. Fun and tasty sometimes even comfort food. Good value just do it

Good food at a great price. I got a to go order of the tonkotsu with Thai sauce. It was good portion size and satisfying. It was quickly prepared as I ordered in store on my walk back. The staff were very nice in chatting with me as I waited. The food was yums enough I will be coming back and trying other things with my family for easy meal days.

Grand opening promo is only $11.99 a plate! Huge steal for Bay Area. Walked in during late lunch today and I definitely will be coming back. The manager is very friendly and welcoming. The portion of katsu was quite large, I may be eating this for a while. Sauce was good and rice was fresh. I might want to try their tonkatsu next time as well. You order at the till and just sit anywhere, perfect for a quick meal. The manager also let me know that we can call ahead and order so we wouldn't have any wait at all.

If you're looking for a spot that values your time and your wallet without cutting corners on quality, 101 Eatery is it. It's the definition of a local gem--no corporate fluff, just high-level execution. I went with the Katsu and the Tonkatsu, and both were outstanding. The breading was golden and light, maintaining that essential crunch without being oily. They don't treat the starters like an afterthought, either; the egg flower soup was seasoned perfectly, and the spring rolls hit the mark.

Stopped in for late lunch. We ordered shrimp spring rolls, chicken steak, chicken katsu, tonkatsu, chicken wings, and pork dumplings. Portion size is really good. Chicken and pork katsu were moist and breading wasn't thick. The Thai sauce was outstanding. Overall food was excellent. They had their soft open today. Promotion pricing was really good. The staff was really friendly. Only down side is restaurant is a bit small and I think it will fill up fast.

The chicken looks good but wasn't cooking fully. The beef skewer is good. The seat were limited. It's a very tiny restaurants. To go doesn't come with salad but it got only 1 piece of orange but when I ordered the food and seat down to eat, there weren't any orange

It's great to know that we have tenured owners; they owned the same Japanese Restaurant that was in the same spot. Just like then, the place is clean, has a friendly vibe due to the staff, and YUMMY food. I tried the Chicken Katsu today and will continue to explore their menu.

    Tonkatsu and dumplings

Friendly staff and food was cooked fresh to order. One of the rare places where the pictures in the wall are what the food actually looks like when it comes out. I'd come again if I lived here

Cubed Salmon. That sauce is pure, mouthwatering flavor, topped with a few drops of juicy orange.

This place isn't about a dining experience or great service or making you feel at home, but none of that matters here. This place is about one thing, The Food. The tonkatsu is served with this really interesting and creative katsu sauce that's complimented perfectly by the zesty notes of the orange slice that comes on the side. It seems so simple with its no-frills presentation, but the flavor notes are thought out thoroughly and prepared precisely with copious amounts of love. The salad looks like an afterthought, as does the soup, but as someone who's emphatically not a 'salad person', it was delicious and seriously compliments the rest of the meal, making something as normally heavy and salty as tonkatsu even out perfectly in your mouth with the sauce and the orange. Same with the soup. It's not a flavor punch, it's something that's specifically thought out for the meal. They do the same dynamic with the salmon cubes where the lightness of the soup and salad lets them give the main dish an extra punch of bold flavor, soaked up by some beautifully cooked rice, then tempered by a wet crunch and a comforting slurp that keeps your palette from getting blown out. To call it simple food done beautifully would be taking the it too much at face value. Everything on the menu is only sold as a combo for a reason as it's wonderfully though out, not just as a dish, but as a set of complimentary flavors that make an interesting, yet familiar meal. To the folks working there: Thank you all for joining the neighborhood. You're fantastic!

Highly recommend this new place! The food is delicious with HUGE portions for $11.99. We ordered chicken katus, and it's juicy and crispy. The rice just right, not too soft or hard. A piece of gem in South San Francisco.

We made our way to Millbrae and on to El Camino. We parked around the corner and were seated right away. It was a fairly busy Thursday night but we were glad we didnt have to wait. There was a rotating skewer-ready charcoal grill at each table and we ordered a variety of food. We ordered garlic oysters in the half-shell ($10.95). This was cooked in the kitchen and brought out. It was delicious. We ordered prawn skewers that were a big size and came one per skewer. We had Japanese wagyu ($25.95), prime beef ($6.95), pork jowl ($3.95), shitake mushroom ($2.95), chicken thigh ($2.95), pork sausage and marinated meat skewers. We enjoyed everything that came out. Service was great and attentive. It was pretty much one server for the entire restaurant so she was running around to all the tables... The meats were good and the ones that were pre-seasoned were good too. Otherwise the dipping sauces were tasty. They bring out the skewers little by little and you can place the cooked meats on this rack-like contraption that sits near the grill and eat them at your own pace. I really liked this concept. I would certainly go back again.

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and overall it was a really memorable experience. We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

Clean modern space, service checked in frequently and water refills were good. They answered any questions I had and provided good suggestions. Everything was prepared well. There was some waiting for different parts as some came from the kitchen and some from the chef. Since it was busy it definitely set things back a bit. Everything from the chef had a simple description for what it was. My faves for the meal were the scallop sashimi, the chiwan mushi, the yakimono, king salmon, and med fatty tuna. The scallops were flavorful, and just melted. Probably the best bite that I had. The cuts of fish were great. I liked how simple the chiwan mushi was. Definitely was great with the cold weather. The yakimono the butter wasn't overpowering and was well balanced with the ingredients. There was also a fried appetizer that was good but the name of it escapes me. Certainly worth the price tho if I had more people with me, I would definitely get reservations.

The Lapu Lapu is a sweet and refreshing drink, definitely something you will like if you want something sweet instead of strong. The Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco was really good. You get the taste of Beef Loco Moco in chicken form. The Chicken also added more of a crunchy texture from the crispy skin while having very moist meat. The Kamehameha BBQ Chicken was also tasty, with the moist meat. The Sisig Fried Rice was really good, being moist and had plenty of Sisig. The Poke Nachos had a decent amount of Poke and Avacado, and had a nice crunch with the Wanton Chips. The Ubemisu was a crowd favorite. I thought it was not going to taste like Ube because of the light color of the Cream, but I was glad to be wrong. It was very moist and thankfully had good Ube flavor. The Ube Bars were not bad. Also, could taste the Ube, but was more dense and just found the Ubemisu better. Overall, great food and service. Definitely would come back here again to try more delicious treats.

The last thing we ordered was pasta with foraged mushrooms. This was our least favorite. Was expecting a creamy earthy pasta with the mushrooms but the mushrooms almost seemed pickled. There was a very vinegary taste from the mushrooms that was off putting. The pasta was also very very al dente. Way too undercooked for us. Lastly this place can be a little pricey.
