I've been wanting to try this place since I've moved back to Smyrna and finally did a few weeks ago; before Coronavirus 2020. We visited on a Saturday night; a party of 3. And it was a full house. You really can't tell when you're walking in since the main dining area is down the stairs. Oh and the floor is sleepy so wear low heel boots or flats. I almost slipped and it wouldn't have been pretty. Anywho, we were seated at one of the larger tables which is for a party of 5 but even if we had that amount, I feel like everyone would've been comfortable. The overall service was okay. Our server lacked in some areas. We kept having to call him over for small things that should've been noticed like no silverware or small plates for the apps and I had to constantly ask to fill up my water. I've gotten better service at a 3 or 4 star restaurant. For the app, I ordered a beet salad. I've made better at home. The calamari was good though. And for my entree, I ordered the scallops which was served with grits and tomatoes. That too was okay. The scallops tasted funny; like it left an aftertaste. And this was my first time dining at a 4 dollar sign restaurant so my expectations were high. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Especially for the price tag. I'd rather come for happy hour. Maybe that's better and for sure it'll be cheaper. read more

Sigh! Usually when I find OpenTable reservations with high points for brunch it can be hit or miss. This was a miss for a few reasons. First, service was extremely slow. We were 1 or 4 tables on the patio and probably 10 tables total between inside and the patio. The wait staff didn't have any sense of urgency. It's outside in the summer, so the flies were waiting for an opportunity to get on a plate. The wait staff didn't get our used dishes until we asked them to take them from the table. Imagine a table full of plates that had donuts with sauce on one and entrees on two others. Oh, and cocktail glasses empty too. Secondly, of course I would order a steak here. The steak I ordered was supposed to be medium. It was cooked at the medium-well level. I didn't send it back like I would normally because my first point. The steak had very good potential but the flavor of pepper was sooo overpowering, I couldn't enjoy it like I normally would. Third, water refills and another round of drinks took forever. As a matter of fact, I had to ask 3 times to get a water refill. I mean, it's summer, I Georgia, I'm a patio - water should be he easiest to keep refilled. Our second round of drinks took another 15 mins to come. No doubt, the cocktails were amazing - totally forgot what my friend ordered, but it was so good I switched to a cocktail after my glass of Rose'. Lastly, it was time for the check and our server took another 10 mins to bring it. On a normal Friday or Saturday that's totally understandable. But on a Sunday morning, with 4 tables, come on let's move. Overall, I might not go back. Drinks were great but the steak was meh. When I think steakhouse, I think amazing steak. Probably even the best steak in the area. But, that expectation was too high. Tip: check-in and get 5% cash back from Yelp! read more

101 Steak is truly a phenomenal restaurant. The low light ambiance paired with the relaxing live music and attentive staff made it a truly enjoyable experience. There are a ton of drink options and the bartending staff does a fantastic job with them, including the non-alcoholic mixes. The minestrone soup paired extremely well with the bread which was super light, fluffy, and warm. The filet mignon was cooked to an absolutely perfect medium rare and the foie gras butter complemented it extremely well. We went to 101 Steak upon recommendation from a friend and what a fun night! We sat in the back room with comfortable booths, soothing wall color, and nice artwork. I don't remember our server's name but she was great! She understood our sense of humor and fit right in. We ordered lobster bisque and French onion soup to start our meal. I didn't love the bisque but the French onion was good. The popovers that are brought out were amazing! We then ordered the giant porterhouse to split between three of us and a filet for our other friend. The sever suggested slicing the porterhouse and that was perfect. There was plenty for all of us with some to take home. The béarnaise sauce and horseradish sauce were both perfection. For sides we enjoyed loaded mashed potatoes, mushrooms and onion rings. The onion rings were gigantic but the star of the show was the mushrooms, they were so good!!! We finished the evening with the crime brûlée and the chocolate cake, both delicious. 10/10! This was our first time dining here on Saturday, 2/11 and we celebrated both Valentine's Day and a promotion. I loved the ambiance, the drinks were great, and the food was tasty. We ordered the petite seafood tower for an appetizer that came with 6 oysters, 6 shrimp cocktail, 2 king crab legs, and 1 lobster tail. For our entrees, I ordered the bone-in prime rib cooked medium with horseradish on the side, he ordered the wild Georgia shrimp pasta, and we shared the loaded mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach as our sides. For drinks I had 1 Mo's margarita and 2 tequila lemon drops, and he had 1 strawberry margarita and 1 glass of Moscato. Out waiter also gave us an option for a celebratory dessert since we were celebrating my boyfriend's promotion at his job; we chose the cheesecake with the raspberry sauce on the side. I made reservations for 2 people, myself and a business associate. We arrived and were seated at a 2-top table in the main isle. I asked to be moved as the table area was loud and congested. We were told no other table available. Once seated, the table to our left was a round booth with one too many diners. to our right was a long table which had been assembled to hold more than10 diners. The waiter apologized 4 times for the noise. we could not even hold a conversation. We made our waiter aware of our disappointment. The food was great, our waiter was just so busy with such large tables around us, he missed filling waters, getting addition drinks, etc. I cannot fault the waiter. The bill was $250. plus a $50. tip. We were disappointed and I was embarrassed. I usually eat at Little Alley Steakhouse for such meetings. The next morning I called the restaurant to pass on our feelings. The manager called back this afternoon and he claimed to remember our table (and he should have as we were in the traffic pattern. I explained our aggravation, but he seemed to take the position of the larger tables in that they have a right to talk and enjoy themselves, which is true. I explained having a small table for two in the middle of what became two large tables, was just poor planning. they could have moved the large table which shared our bench seating and placed our small table at the other end away from the other loud table and the traffic pattern. He continued to defend their restaurant design their management decisions. I said then I guess we cannot come back. He said ok and hung up. I would NEVER GO BACK TO 101 STEAK AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. The good news for them is that they don't care about smaller tables. If our bill was $300. for two people, the larger table's bill had to exceed $2,500. You decide if an environment this loud, and a leadership who cares so little is where you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars per person. read more

4.5! We ate here for my husband's birthday. A party of 8 with a private room! The day before we got a call to confirm our reservation. For large parties you cannot use open table, you have to call in your reservation. Our reservation was for 7:15 and we were promptly seated at 7:15 in the "Dalek" room. It was bigger on the inside. I did not request a private area, but it was perfect for celebrating a birthday. What we ordered: Most of the table ordered drinks. My husband had 2 old fashions that he loved! We ordered a friend the "sexual chocolate martini" he tried to hate it, but he loved it, called it smooth but strong. We also got an appetizer, the broiled oysters. There was a ton of kale on them, but it was a little salty for me. They also served popovers while you wait. My friends thought the were great, I'm just more of a hearty rolls girl. Now to the entrées! All but 1 of us ordered steak. Petite filets, New York strips, and bone-in-rib eye were the choices of the evening. The filets appeared to be perfectly cooked and I heard no complaints from the ladies. I got the NY Strip and it was cooked perfectly. However, I made the mistake of sampling my husbands 36 day dry-aged Bone-in-Rib-eye. That thing was like butter, and so flavorful. Treat yo-self! Try it at least once. You could share it ... if you usually eat a smaller, reasonable portion of meat. However, my husband at it all. But can we talk about those Brussels! We ordered a lil bit of everything for sides. We got asparagus and mashed potatoes that we shared. But, the standout side were the crispy brussel sprouts with ginger and soy. Wow! Crispy with the perfect balance of sweet and saltyThey were so good! I kinda liked it more than my steak. Who am I! I'm not sure how it happened but we spent more than 3 hours at this spot. Ambiance: We left the kiddo at home for this one. Good for dates or groups. I went with blouse and slacks, hubs went with jeans and long sleeve button up. Is upscale casual a thing? Parking: We used the private lot behind the restaurant. My car is toddlerized so I don't like using valet. One of our friend's valet parked. I'm pretty sure the valet gave him his keys before 9:30, we were all kind of confused by that. Decor was beautiful. Food was delicious. Service seemed a little slow compared to what I expected, but there were 8 of us. Our bill wasn't quite right at the end but we settled it on our own. I had noticed this restaurant when it first opened and was waiting for a special occasion--finally my birthday season came I made reservations the day before and requested a booth after reading other reviews. (Definitely get a booth!) They did honor my request and gave us a booth with no fuss. Our waiter was so attentive and helpful with recommendations. Overall, the food was amazinggggggg. I ordered a petite filet. (I think that's the name) My boyfriend ordered the angel hair pasta with shrimp. We also added shareable sides-pimento mac-n-cheese and grilled asparagus. Everything was tasty and hot!!! It was more than enough food to share and take home leftovers. Also, save room for dessert-huge slices of chocolate cake or NY style cheesecake. The Brussels Sprouts were good and the pork chops had a nice flavor. The macaroni and cheese was good and creamy.

I was surprised when I came here. I didn't know how it would stack up to the more well known steak places in Atlanta, especially in fancier areas like Buckhead and Midtown. Well, I guess Vinings is a "fancy" place. It's just inside the perimeter, in downtown Vinings. They have parking in the back, in the deck. Make sure to park in the "Reserved for 101 Steak" spots or any open spot that's not reserved. You can also valet if you don't want to walk. The ambience looks amazing. It definitely gives a high class feel. Their bread was interesting. It tasted like a french onion soup. It was interesting. I enjoyed it, but I prefer old-fashioned, traditional rolls too. I wished they had that as well. For appetizer, we had 12 oysters. They had East coast and West coast oysters. They were both fresh and delicious. It came with the typical assortments of cocktail sauce, horseradish, butter, and hot sauce. For my main entree, I had the 18 oz, 40 day dry aged, Kansas City Strip Steak. It was cooked perfectly at medium rare. The crust was nice and charred. The flavor was amazing! The dry aged flavor came through very well. My only complaint was the meat seemed hard to cut. I'm not sure if it was because it had a big chunk of fat or because the knife was dull. They also had specials. The special on the day that I went was a New York strip with Foie Gras butter and caviar. Man that caviar tasted amazing. The Foie Gras was also great. Once again, the steak was cooked well. But combining that steak with the butter and caviar made it taste heavenly. For the side, I tried their mushrooms. It was a ton of mushrooms cooked in a lot of butter. Like anything cooked with a ton of butter, it was good. Their sides are gigantic. I saw other tables' sides and couldn't believe how much food they give. They're not shy about their portions. One of the downside was their service--it was slow. Everything seemed to be snail pace. Maybe they take their time in cooking and preparing everything. But the service itself was very friendly and helpful. They treated us very well. This was probably one of my favorite Atlanta steak experiences I had. If you love steaks, give 101 Steaks a try. read more

We just had a beautiful event and time at 101 Steak. The private room is stately, seats 35 comfortably and the wait staff was outstanding. Special thanks to the GM and Wait staff for making our event memorable. The food was incredible cooked to order, crab cake Benedict, steak Benedict, flank steak, everything was delicious!!! If you are seeking an event location in the smyrna Vinnings area, 101 Steak is a great option. I've been there for both lunch and dinner. Best service I've had in a long time with Hailey (so many ways to spell the name so sorry if that's wrong). Hailey was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in choosing our dishes. Beautiful restaurant as well. We sat outside and felt completely relaxed. I had the roasted chicken beast entree and my friend ordered the two lobster tails with a side of sautéed spinach. Amazing experience!! From the moment we walked through the door we were met with smiles, great energy, and extremely friendly people! Our server Haley (sp? Sorry!) was amazing! Her recommendations were great and she kept us smiling and engaged throughout our entire meal. The food is delicious! My husband and I are self proclaimed calamari snobs lol we try it pretty much everywhere we go and this was by far the best we've had! It was lightly fried and very juicy compared to other calamari. Came for a friend date on Friday night. Made a reservation for 7 and sat outside while the sun was out. However, it got cold after an hour and we headed for a table inside. They were very accommodating. We had the best waitress her name was Nicole. She was attentive, polite, knew the menu very well and overall a genuine nice person. We ordered the Tuna Tartare for appetizer and it was delicious, it came with avocado and rice pape. Definitely a fan. Nicole brought us their famous bread- I cannot recall the name. Let me tell you is like a giant cheese muffin with a shallow center and it was deliciously addictive. We had 2 rounds. It also comes with this amazing butter. For a meal order the filet mignon 8oz - medium rare. It came in at the right temperature but I found it a little dry. It could be cause I didn't order any of the butter options. The veggies/side items come family style. We ordered the mac and cheese and the asparagus. I wasn't impressed by these items. The mac and cheese was bland and the asparagus were too big and lacked juicy flavor. For dessert, we had the Creme Brûlée and it was one of the best one I have ever tried. I highly recommend it. I love this place. The delmonico is my fav cut with scallops as my arm candy. It's not just the food it's the overall experience. My wife and I go here probably once everything 3 months; sometimes once monthly... we always have a great time and we always get great service! The bartenders and servers are so good about accommodating you. My steak is always cooked correctly and I don't have to go downtown to get it, it's literally just around the corner. I went right when they opened at 5pm so it wasn't crowded although I will say the bar area was full so they must have a good happy hour. We were seated right away and the table was huge for a party of two so they moved us to something smaller. The server came right away. She told us about the specials and asked if we wanted to order any appetizers. I saw roasted oysters with bacon, spinach and roasted garlic and was immediately happy. But she brought out raw oysters. Not that I don't eat them but it wasn't what I ordered. I inquired and she told me well you just said oysters so I assumed this is what you meant. Well that's where you were wrong. You shouldn't have assumed. If you weren't sure you should have asked. But she immediately corrected it so that was fine. Then she brought out some huge popovers! Warm and delicious but I didn't want to ruin dinner. I ordered the filet with foie gras and it was perfect... the steak was cooked to order, seasoned to perfection, with a slight char! And the foie gras melted in my mouth and put a smile on my face. The creamed spinach left a lot to be desired. It had no flavor and came with a big hunk of melted cheese. I wouldn't order that again. But will definitely go back and order the 12 ounce filet because the 8 ounce left me wanting more. I took home the key lime mousse with ginger snap cookies and it was delectable! They stopped a la carte for brunch so it's just a buffet for brunch which was sort of a let down because the options were sort of limited for $30. All in all, the carving station at the buffet was the highlight of my birthday brunch. I wasn't too keen on the pastries. read more

I can't get over how poor the service was at this steakhouse in a prime location in the Vinings. It feels like a Walmart experience with Nordstrom prices. As for the rest of the restaurant ,,, they've updated the decor since turning the restaurant from Social Vinings to 101 Steak. Lots of wood and some tall booths surround the bar. The menu has a lot of selection from a variety of appetizers to steaks and fresh fish. Sides are a la carte. They do have quite a few plated meals too from pork chops to seafood linguini. As far as selling the menu, our server failed to ever acknowledge the specials or the "du jour" items listed. Yes, they do serve popovers as your bread course but again the service was so bad that "retro" bread service does not make up for a lack of attention and detail. Things like no cutlery, empty water glasses and no one ever asked if our food was good once delivered highlighted our dinner. When it came time to leave we had to ask multiple people, multiple times for a check. Interesting as the other couples at the bar sitting around us all voiced the same opinion. On Father's Day we were first time diners at 101 Steak, but we will be back! The service was top notch, from the valet, to the hostess (who gave us recommendations of her favorite food!), to the waitress. We enjoyed the dry aged, bone-in ribeye and the sea scallop dinner with two sides: the loaded baked potato and the braised greens. I just finished our leftovers today for lunch. YUM. They serve dinner with delicious popovers, and I may come back just for those ; ) We enjoyed a Sonoma cabernet by the glass, which came to the same amount if we had bought the bottle (thanks for that!) and some chocolate cake for dessert. SOOOO GOOD. This is a lovely place with a menu of delicious food at reasonable prices. read more

I absolutely adore this dining establishment. The decor brings the place together in a rustic, industrial, modern twist type of ambiance. We didn't know exactly what to expect coming into the restaurant, but we were certainly in for a treat. The booth where we were seated towers over you, but it's done so in a grandiose manner where it ignites the feeling of being majestic. I don't know how else to say it, but as you can see---I'm a huge fan of their booths. In contrast to the other tables, you have a much appreciated amount of privacy. Ambiance aside, the food was spectacular. Complementary bread sort of resembled a type of cheesy, airy, and whimsical type of bread. I was expecting a thicker type of bread but it was quite the opposite. My boyfriend was a huge fan of it. For our appetizer, we ordered the meat and cheese plate which we enjoyed. For my entree, I had ordered the tuna, seasoned just right, and seared to perfection. I liked their extensive wine list and that they had someone come by the table to find just the taste we were looking for. This spot is perfect to celebrate a special occasion. Or, perhaps take a seat at the bar if you're in the mood to grab some cocktails/wine, as it's certainly inviting. It's also a great change of pace as a spot for date night. I'm very happy that one of the servers had spotted us a few nights before as we were walking leisurely past the restaurant and invited us to give the place a try. This is a pricey establishment so be prepared, but the quality of steaks were good! We also had the onion rings and brussel sprouts (really good). It's funny that my favorite thing at this steak house was the wedge salad & the Brussel sprouts but it was. Everything was amazing but those two things were PERFECT. If you order a steak get it a degree lower than what you want because they do have a habit of over cooking the steaks even if they are flavorful. The hanger steak my husband order was not medium well but well done but luckily still had great flavor. I look forward to coming back to try the raw bar tower I saw it come out to another table and it look fantastic. We just needed a few more people to tackle it. read more
