Stayed in the hotel so this restaurant was an easy convenient option. Sat out on the patio and while windy, was pleasant. Ordered the jalapeño artichoke dip and that was fantastic! I wish they sold it jarred because I would love to spread it on toast and broil it, but even without, delicious! The Philadelphia Steak Sandwich was delicious (made more so with a solid dollop of the jalapeño dip). The only disappointment was the au jus, but I'm picky about them. My table-mate ordered the burger, which was undercooked for my taste, even cooked medium. Service was pretty good despite being busy. read more

The French onion soup was so salty I couldn't finish it, and my friends had the same complaint about their dishes. For the price, the quality simply wasn't there. The final disappointment was the bill. A service charge was automatically added for our small party, and the payment process made it easy to miss and accidentally leave an additional tip. I attended a Yelp event at 13 Coins and what a memorable time! Located in Pioneer Square, hugged on a corner between Lumen Field and Embassy Suites, this gives it a wonderful location in a beautiful brick building. You walk in to a low lit, warm vibe. The servers were friendly. There's street parking available and we had no issue finding a spot at 5pm. Now what do they offer? They're known for their swiveling captain's chairs and all day breakfast! At our event, we tried their chicken & waffles, quiche, and mimosa. What a treat! Im still dreaming about the breading and flavor of their chicken - and I'm from the south so those are my credentials ;) We also tried their chicken parm sandwich and steak bites. The chicken parm sandwich was my husband and my favorite bite of the night. Again, the breading of this chicken was delicious. They ended the night with a chocolate mousse that was decadent. I came here for the Elite event sponsored by Yelp, and I gotta say that I've been missing out. I've been coming to various different restaurants near the stadium area for years, and never bothered to check out 13 coins, and it's a huge mistake. First, the various bite sized food we got to try out was great. The Chicken and Waffle in particular stood out to me. You'd think it'd be a diner food menu, and not appropriate for the upscale venue that 13 coins is. However, the spicy syrup that it comes with plus very lightly fried layer of the chicken worked so well. The chicken parm, the frittata, and all the drinks were all fantastic, Second, the ambiance in the place is great too. I'd say it's a place to impress someone when you're going to an event at the stadium. The cozy interior with the cushioned booths and the low lamp lighting stands out as you walk around the place, and it's hard not to imagine that you are in some swanky speakeasy in a movie set. Strongly recommend. Finally, the service was great, but I was there for a catered event. So I'm not sure how representative my experience is for the normal visitors. However, all the staff seemed like the usual staff members at the restaurant and they were all above and beyond nice. Taking the time to explain each menu items was pleasant. Their efforts to let you know when more sampling plates were ready also showed their care. All in all, an amazing experience. I went to an event at 13 coins and I had an experience that seemed to be both sides of the coin. I got to the event early and hung out in the lounge/bar until my wife arrived and the event started. It was a bit surreal sitting with Lumen Field Stadium lit up in the background. The bar had some regulars chatting and laughing, but this is Pioneer Square and let's say the area did create an interesting interaction inside the restaurant. When my lovely wife arrived we made our way downstairs to their event area. This is definitely the other side of the coin. The staff were incredible and attentive. I tried some of the small bites, and they were delicious. Im definitely not one to mix sweet food and savory food...but... the chicken was aggressively seasoned and I loved it. The waffle was delicious... I just can't eat them together. The frutatta was good. The chicken parmesan was really good, I had 2. The beef bite was delicious as well, my wife loved the sauce. Oh.. the small plate with the olives was a nice fresh break. We ended with a good chocolate mousse. Thank you 13 coins for a fun night with great service and atmosphere. I've been coming to 13 Coins since I was a kid, and I've continued to visit several times as an adult. I've always left satisfied, which is why my most recent experience was especially disappointing. From the moment we walked in, the service was unpleasant. We asked to be seated at the counter and stepped away to use the restroom. When we returned and sat down, our waiter, Chuck, made us feel as though we weren't supposed to be sitting there. He didn't make us feel welcomed at all. His communication was extremely loud and, at times, felt unprofessional, including the use of slang when speaking with us. We also asked about the antipasto tray, which we remembered being complimentary. One person told us it was only offered after 4 p.m., while another explained that it isn't offered on game or concert days. We completely understood and were prepared to move on. However, Chuck then made what felt like a "pity" antipasto tray for us, which we politely declined. He then joked and laughed about it with his coworkers, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. I've always considered 13 Coins a Seattle staple and have had many positive experiences there over the years. Unfortunately, this visit was unlike anything I've experienced there before. I'm extremely disappointed with how we were treated and hope management takes this feedback seriously. read more

Everything was SO SALTY, the chicken was overcooked, and we never got water refills even though our server checked on us every 5 mins. I think we were her only table. We didn't tell her anything was wrong because she seemed new (not just to this restaurant, but to serving in general), and we were afraid any complaint would end up causing more trouble than it was worth. My soup and entree were brought at the exact same time, so that was our first clue. The decor is super cool. The downstairs bar seems like it would probably be more our vibe, but it wasn't open - it might just be for game days or something. But I think we'd limit ourselves to cocktails from now on, regardless. Pretty good breakfast spot right by the north stadium parking lot and the train station. I had what I can only remember as a sampler platter. Nice fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, good hash browns, and a fantastic chicken fried steak. I also had an Italian sausage, but it was a bit too spicy for me even ordering mild. My friend and I visited for our first time and had such a wonderful experience, thanks in large part to Allan, our server. My childhood friend was visiting from Arizona, and since we're both originally from there (though I live in Washington now), it was especially nice how Allan connected with us in a way that felt warm and familiar. He was personable, funny, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the start. The food was just as impressive. Everything we ordered was so good--from the appetizer to our entrées, and especially the dessert. The crème brûlée was perfectly done and easily one of the highlights of the night. You can tell care goes into both the food and the overall experience. He also gave us excellent recommendations for both an appetizer and desserts, and both were absolutely worth it. Great service really can shape a dining experience, and Allan made this first visit memorable in the best way. Love the ambiance of this location- we usually sit at the bar & Oscar takes excellent care of us. We do love the patio in the summer as well. The three of us got a few menu items to share after we got our drinks; martinis & tequila soda with an orange slice. I have been going to 13 Coins since I was a child. I came here on Christmas Day this time. They were really busy but able to get a seat at the bar. Service was to be expected slow I had ordered an ice tea that never came until I asked about it when they brought my salad. Salad was good. It's more about the ambience for me. Traveling out of town and on your last day when you've seen all that Seattle has to give you do just want some good food before you leave. They offer that and a great happy hour at night. We've had good food here before, but apparently today the kitchen decided to try performance art instead of cooking. First up, the "Crispy" Brussels Sprouts. Spoiler: they weren't crispy. They were crunchy... because they were raw. Just barely warmed and drowned in some mystery teriyaki-ish sauce. We asked for bacon--got none. Maybe the chef was saving it for someone special? Then came the Pasta Verdura, which is supposedly pasta with vegetables. Apparently the kitchen interprets that as pasta with one or two vegetables that accidentally fell in on the way to the plate. Maybe 5% veggies, tops, and no sauce to speak of. Just dry noodles and disappointment. Honestly, if it weren't for the stiff drinks, we would have walked out. read more

My wife had pasta with scallops and shrimp and she loved it. I will say the only thing that I don't like is that this place is quite expensive for just decent food. I don't mind spending a lot of money on something that's extremely high-quality. The other thing that kind of bothers me is that they play top 40 Music Way too loud for my liking and more TVs than I ever need to look at. Our server Siobhan was very friendly and helped us pick a beer which was fantastic. The french onion soup was perfection! All of our food was scrumptious. Biscuits and gravy was so good. Bucket of clams was enjoyed by my husband. I highly recommend eating here. prices were about on par with other restaurants. $200 with tip for a family of 5 and we left full and happy. I hate writing bad reviews but we had no response so here goes. This used to be our go-to favorite restaurant in Seattle. We moved away, came back, live in a downtown apartment, walked by and so glad to see those high back chairs. Then it began. Waited way too long for wine that was 'in the basement.' Ordered eggs and sausage and my wife was going to order a salad but the steak on the grille looked good. More waiting. Our hot food under lights right next to us getting cold. When I poured the Tabasco on my eggs, a third of cup drenched them; someone had taken the stopper out. Even the thick skinned sausage was inedible. I pushed my plate away. Three servers stopped to thank me for telling them about the non-stopper. No apologies, no make over. My wife pushed away her $51 streak and said it was too tough to chew. In our 50 years together I had never heard her complain about a bad steak. Ever. The chef/cook turned to ask her how the steak was. She nicely said, "It's too tough to chew." And now, I swear this is true, he replied, "New meat vendor. I'll tell them." $115 including a generous tip. None of the food eaten. Half of our wine still in the glasses. Our server was at the door staring at us. "We will never come back here," I said. He said nothing, I mailed my receipt which could have been traced. Nothing. We will never go back. So thankful I got to be a +1 to this media event & had the opportunity to sample their new Happy Hour menu. All of the food items were great but the 2 standouts for me were the tuna & steak bites. The service and staff were very friendly & on top of things bringing around samples for us all too try & interacting with the crowd. The food was good, the vibes in there were very cool. My complaint is they let people camp out at the booths. When there are people brining in their suit cases clearly killing time before they can check in to the hotel and taking up the limited booths 13 coins has, that's a problem. We walked in at 11:30 for lunch and requested a booth. The host informed me we would have to wait b/c none of them were open and he couldn't guess how long it would be until a booth opened up. We had to wait for 30 minutes for a booth to open up from a couple legitimately having food and then we walk past booth after booth with suitcases next to it and with people just sitting there sipping a coffee or a water. Then the same people were still just sitting there with a coffee and a water after we sat, ordered, ate, paid and left... that's a problem. I have no clue, not one, why the general manager would allow that to happen. The owners are probably more concerned with booth turn over and generating revenue then letting someone camp out especially during the lunch hour rush. I saw probably 3 parties turn away at the door b/c they didn't want to sit at a bar and didn't want to wait for an undisclosed amount of time. I was shocked. It is also very rude of those people to do that. I get it, you need a place to go kill time, go find a lounge or a bar, not a restaurant. Table camping in a booth at a restaurant just shows a lack of self-awareness and self-centeredness. read more
