131 Main is typically one of my favorites. I'm leaving a bad review because our waitress did not wear a face mask the entire time we were there. I was hoping she'd realize she forgot to put it on at some point during our meal but that never happened. And, if she wasn't wearing a mask because of a medical reason I would have appreciated acknowledgment of this with a plan of action to keep a safe distance. We felt uncomfortable so every time she approached we put our own masks on. As we were leaving it appeared the manager was in the kitchen area without a mask in sight as well. read more

My husband and I absolutely love this place. It is one of our favorites in Charlotte. The food is always amazing. The service is exceptional. The atmosphere is relaxing. The prices are reasonable for the superior quality of food serviced. We are regulars. Both locations are fabulous. They have by far the best shrimp and grits as well as corn bread in all of Charlotte. I also love their Caesar salad, steak and crab cakes. But everything is fantastic. read more

After getting a seat at the bar and waiting on a friend to join me I used the restroom to wash my hands. There was a kitchen employee who was using the facilities and after looked at me and walked out without washing his hands.. NOT ACCEPTABLE . Employees at 131 Main in Southpark are not required to wear masks. Every other restaurant we have visited recently enforces this rule. Went there last Sunday and and some wait staff and "food runners" were not wearing masks. The most frightening thing was seeing the food-runner carrying multiple meals to a table without a mask or gloves. When I asked why this was allowed I was advised managements position is it optional. I thought masks were required for both staff and patrons given this critical time. Will not return! read more

Everyday for lunch I place an order here at this restaurant for a cup of $8 chili . And today out of all days they decided they need a card on file to process them to cook the $8 cup of chili . Been coming here everyday for lunch even have ordered lunch for my coworkers and never had to put a card in file to a random person like this is not dominos pizza . I would never pay $8 on a card for such a simple item . Spoke to the manager he told me that they started this new process a month ago in December due to receiving fraudulent cards for to go orders . Why would you even process a debit/credit card if you have already been getting fraudulent cards . Very unprofessional made me not even want to go there honestly. We went here for an early dinner after a memorial service. Just what we needed. Attentive service, but not intrusive. Very good food.

The food was very delicious, our server Jim was excellent he did a good job of trying to help while multi tasking with other customers. The place was gorgeous and very reasonably priced! Tonight 7-22-20 at 6pm dinner service. All but one of the young greeters, most of the food runners, most of the cooks, some of the waiters and waitresses who were all serving and preparing food for their patrons here with none of them wearing masks. They were all interacting with each other and with customers as if they had never heard of Covid 19. None of them were social distancing with each other or the patrons. No concern for the NC mandate for restaurant employees from the state. No concern by the management for employees social distancing without masks with each other or the guests eating their dinner. Our waitress continually wore her mask and she personally brought our food. My smarter response would have been to leave but I didn't expect this place to be in such non-compliance. Shameful disregard and respect for a government mandated order by a business establishment. Make your own careful decision regarding whether to support this business who chooses not to support the current NC mandates and who disregard the health and safety for all. read more

We ordered to go tonight and what was supposed to be a 15-20 minute wait ended up being 45 minutes. We were told when we arrived that we just had to wait for deviled eggs. Then 10 minutes later everything was done but the corn... and at that point a burger and fries have theoretically been sitting in a bag for 20 minutes? The service was unapologetic and misleading as to what was going on and finally when we asked for our money back they came out with a bag of food and $5 off for the corn they said. Super disappointed by the lack of responsiveness by the manager and restaurant. Shit happens. You get busy. I get that.... But don't try and send people home with food that's been sitting for 25 minutes and $5 off. I liked this place a lot but that was just lazy. read more

As of recent 131 threw caution to the wind allowing their service staff to pick and choose if they wanted to wear a mask or not. Of course the folks in the kitchen making next to nothing sweating their butts off over a hot grill wore a mask. Was I asked by the mask free host if it would be ok to be greeted and served by a young person not wearing a mask? NOPE! How could it be that 8 of your servers who all appear young and healthy have a "qualifying condition"? Oh that's right, they don't. 131 is just irresponsible. Get it together. We went there last night. None of the staff seemed aware of the Covid19 pandemic. None of the employees were wearing face masks even though the State Department of Health "strongly recommended" it. They also ignore the recommendations for disposable menus, disposable napkins, advising waitstaff to stay 6 feet from customers when possible, advising employees to stay 6 feet from each other, posting distancing signage, and not leaving condiments out. It really alarmed me when I saw an elderly couple drive up for their take-out meal and the employee gave them their container by leaning into the driver's open window- inches from her face. When I mentioned safety concerns to the waitress, she laughed! When I asked for the manager, he walked up within a foot of our table. I guess the health and safety of their customers isn't important. read more

My family brought me to 131 Main for my 60th birthday. Unfortunately my experience was not the best due to several mishaps including the staff dropping my Birthday cake and presenting it with a candle after our meal. We were all mortified as the entire service had been substandard. Well, Cassie (manager) and Nala (server) to the rescue!! After the most sincere apologies which included dessert for everyone and a substantial gift card, we decided (because the food was delicious) to give the restaurant another go. Well, all I can say is they laid the red carpet for our arrival and continued with the entire dining experience. They completely redeemed themselves and I will gladly return and recommend this restaurant to everyone. read more

Love this place! The set up makes for a very romantic date spot with it's warm and cozy feel. I enjoyed all that the unique building design had to offer. Compared to the other locations, this one seems smaller, but did not disappoint. The BIG ISLAND RIBEYE was amazing. Tender, juicy and the flavors were pure perfection. My sister Ann and I took our 102-yr-old mother to lunch there this past Saturday. Mary Charlotte was our waitperson and she was excellent. When Mom ordered her favorite, crab cakes, Mary Charlotte asked if she wanted one or two, and Mom said, "One." Ann ordered trout and I ordered ahi tuna. Ann says the trout was "fine." As for the tuna, it was bland -- no taste at all. Mom, as always, enjoyed the crab cake -- and the chocolate brownie a-la-mode. However, when the bill arrived, it included "crab cakes -- $22.00". So I asked Mary Charlotte if perhaps that was the standard charge for two crabcakes and perhaps that the charge for Mom's order of only one was incorrect. She said, "No, one crab cake is $22.00; if she had ordered two, the charge would have been $32.00." Now I've ordered crabcakes all up and down the East Coast, and inland, too, everywhere from basic beach bars to high-end fancy places, and i don't believe I've ever been charged $22.00 for one crab cake (well, maybe at the Ritz, or the Four Seasons?). The total bill for the three of us (three entrees, if you consider one crabcake an "entree", one dessert, no alcohol) was $99.00 plus a $25.00 tip -- Not a bad place, but not exceptional either. I would suggest passing on the crabcakes at 131 Main. read more

The servers were pretty friendly snd nice to talk to. I got the linguine limone and it was amazing. It should be noted that basically nobody wore a mask, but the employees were all vaccinated. I tried this restaurant tonight for my birthday and I was a little disappointed my ribs were charred so I sent it back but by time I got the next rack I just had them pack it because everybody else was done with their food. I get home and the next rack is partially charred and dry. My cousin mentioned his steak tasted like ribs/pork as if it was cooked in the same pan/grill. I would like to take a moment to express my experience at 131Main in S. Park . From the time we arrived to the time we left this restaurant was nothing but Gracious . We started with a appetizer I think it was call a double dip it was great , then our entree we all had ribeye, we all had it cooked different everyone's was cooked perfect . I must tell you our waitress was phenomenal I can't remember her name but she's from Weddington, moved here from Long Island ( shocker lol) but I hope she knows who we're talking about . Steak and the fresh catch cooked to perfection, everything fresh and perfectly proportioned. Try the sweet curry corn which is amazing.That pretty much sums up my past two visits to the South Park location of 131 main. Sit at the bar and enjoy a great martini or local beer. Sloan the bartender was perfectly attentive without being intrusive and as always greets you with a smile and a welcome. I'd heard so many great things about 131 Main so I stopped in during Queen's Feast this summer. It's a nice, dark restaurant with lots of seating and a decent sized bar. We were seated right away and split a bottle of wine which was fine, but nothing special. We tried kind of a mix of things thanks to the restaurant week, so we started with a caesar salad and chips and guac. Both were simple and classic but nicely done. My husband had the ribs, which came with fries and a slaw. It was a very generous portion and the ribs were delicious and fell off the bone. I had the crab cakes with a side of asparagus. They were very good and full of crab meat, not too much breading like a lot of places do. The mustard sauce went nicely with the dish and I had a lot of leftovers. We finished with a key lime and a (I think) peanut butter pie. The slices were huge, and very decadent. If you're a dessert person I wouldn't skip out here. The service was very good during our visit and we had a nice time. I'd say everything here is good but simple, nothing life changing but a good meal. read more

This restaurant is a little quirky to me but decent. We have dined at the Blakeney and South Park Locations and prefer SP because it's less crowded. Service is good. The highlights: Crab Cakes - some of the best we have had,very little breading- the pork chop, the burger, the smoked salmon and the cornbread are also very good. However, something quirky always happens at this restaurant. On one occasion, we got the fish special and It was served cold and had to be sent back to be reheated. Our last dinner was on a Sunday evening. They were unfortunately out of the ribs. The waitress recommended the Shrimp & Grits. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and creole sauce with corn and asparagus was a little spicy but had great flavor. The grits, while flavorful, were stiff and clumpy- my guess is they were sitting around a long time. Typically grits for this dish at other restaurants are very creamy and smooth. I sent them back, they added some more cream, water, something and they were better but not like what one traditionally gets with this dish. I would not order this dish again. Very disappointing, especially from a restaurant that prides itself in everything being fresh. The other weird thing was my husband ordered a particular bourbon listed as $8 on the menu. He asked for it on the rocks. For some reason that was a different charge, considered a full pour, so it was $10? When he inquired about the charge, this was the explanation given but the server adjusted the bill to the menu price. No where on the menu did we see this price difference. Just pour the $8 portion over ice or make the diner aware of the up charge. Very strange. Never noticed this in other restaurants. read more

Stayed next door for business and many people said how good this place was. Finally tried it and they were right. The filet mignon was melt in your mouth and cooked perfectly. Why oh why did I wait until the night before I left to try this place?!! But it is expensive. Perhaps not as expensive as some upscale restaurants but at the top end of what I'd pay. And the lighting is so low that it was difficult for me to read the menu. read more

Was told by the manager that they couldn't accept it because it was from 2 years ago. I pointed out that there was no expiration date on it and he still said no. AWESOME is where I will start with this review. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The staff (team approach) was warm, welcoming and serious about servicing their customers. I was offered samples of menu items to help with my decisions ... I selected and recommend the wild rice salad as a side. My 14 oz ribeye was delivered, not to my specifications, but immediately rectified with a perfect replacement, sincere apologies by staff and management and offerings of complimentary selections to enjoy while waiting on my perfect steak. Again, allow me to suggest the smoked salmon as an appetizer. No parking. It was my first visit. It looked to me like you would park in front of the restaurant. The security guard informed me that if I were to park in front then he would have my car towed. So I drove behind the restaurant where there is a sign announcing the businesses that correspond to that parking lot, the sign does not include 131 Main. I just had dinner at the new location of 131 Main in Southpark. Awesome!!!! Same excellent quality food and service that I regularly experience at the Blakeney location. I know I'll be frequenting this location as well. Check it out if you haven't already, and if you've never been to 131 Main definitely go. You won't be disappointed. read more
