    Gold rush burger
    Marissa G.

Never disappoints! The gold rush burger is the best and the waitress was handling the whole left side of the restaurant by herself and she didn't miss a beat!

I guess this is what a medium well burger looks like these days.

We came on day 2 of this year's return of the peach shake and waited in line for about 40 mins…read moreafter arriving at 11:30 AM. There was a steady stream of folks in line after we arrived too. There are plenty of tables outside and seem to be able to accommodate the clientele well. Some shade is available but other seats are in the sun. No heaters nor cooling was available. The staff were working hard that day pushing out orders. We noticed the online ordering option was not available. We had the peach shake which definitely looks up to the hype, fresh and delicious and not too sweet. We also tried the chili cheese fries, which were fine. A very basic quality chili, tomatoes and a bit of meat and shredded cheese. The fries were also pretty standard. The burgers were good, a bit sour overall with all the pickles, mustard, and Whitey sauce, but the prices were great!

I really like peaches! Several recent articles stated it is now peach season (yes, I know it is)…read moreand the best peach shake is at Whitey's Jolly Kone in West Sac. OK, that's a hike from me in Carmichael, but I say let's do it. Long story short - great peach shake! But not worth the effort. After a 1/2 hour drive, we arrive exactly at 12 noon and the line of customers waiting to order is around 40 souls. The DW goes to find a table while I stand in line. The good news is there are lots of tables with benches suitable to be shared by disparate groups. She finds one with a canopy and out of the sun. I stand in line for about 15 minutes (it actually moved pretty well and did allow me to interact with those in front and back of me ) before I get to order. I order two peach shakes, The Big Burger, a hot dog, and fries. I pay and learn it will be 30-40 minutes for the food! Say what! Apparently if you just order a shake, as many seem to do, it is only a 10 minute wait. Food takes a lot longer for some reason. I go ahead and agree to wait as I am here and I really want to try that peach shake. I plop my butt down on the bench seat and await the food. Did I mention, I am older and detest bench seats? The lack of a back rest, over time, is akin to slow torture. But I digress. The table is in the shade which is good. The bad is that it is approaching 90 degrees and there is no breeze. Fans would be a lovely addition to the seating area. The cooler of water and stack of cups attract my attention as my thirst increases. I was hoping the water would be cold, but no it is room temp, albeit still wet As the clock counts up to the 35 minute mark, the guy in front of me in the line, with a similar order is called to Pick Up. Yea, I am next! No, I am not. Three people behind me with food orders are called, including one person must be known to the staff as he was 7-8 people behind me. Add in 4-5 people just getting shakes make to the the Pick Up window before I am finally called (at the 42 minute mark). All Right, lets eat! The burger is a standard 1/3 lb. patty with cheese and basic condiments (lettuce. tomato, and onions) no different than McDonalds or Burger king - meh. The hot dog was long but made up for it by being skinny. Once again, basic mustard and a couple of pieces of onion. Nothing exceptional. The fries were plentiful but lacked salt. Oh yea, no salt or pepper or ketchup or mustard type condiments are available outside. Maybe if you stand in line, they are, but I wasn't going to do that again. The peach shakes, though. are really good. Noticeable pieces of fresh peach along with what seemed to be real vanilla ice cream, although it is the soft serve stuff. We both greatly enjoyed the peach shakes and they are every good as others have said. The shakes are worth another visit, if I am in the area already, and it is other than a rush hour time.

Decided this was the place for dinner after a long work day with a colleague…read more It's an older building with unique art on the exterior. There's also an outside patio. The place reminds me of bars that I would have frequented in my twenties and felt strangely familiar. The bar keep/waiter was super friendly and laid back. Our party of two proceeded to order burgers, mine with regular fries and my dining companion the garlic fries. I made a few substitutions which were quickly accommodated with a smile. The burgers were soooo good! Cooked perfectly to order and the garlic fries are a must. So perfectly garlicky without any bitterness and delightfully delicious. The fries are perfectly between thin and steak, striking a balance that fits just about any preference.

They're known for their burgers, but even without ordering one, everything we tried was delicious. The fried sweet pickles with house-made ranch were my absolute favorite--perfectly crispy and so flavorful. The mac and cheese was rich and homemade-tasting, and the house chips with salsa and beer cheese dip were a great addition. Our friends ordered the mac-and-cheese grilled cheese (yes, really!) and devoured it, and the Reuben was also a huge hit. Definitely an 11/10 experience. We'd absolutely come back if we're in the area again.

We come here several times a year when we are having a hankering for a burger or fish and chips…read more The last time we were here was New Year's Day. As we looked thought the menu our friend remembered the bad experience he had last time with the Salmon Burger and went with the Hawaiian Impossible Burger this time. He though it was much better. My husband and I went with the BNB Cheeseburger: Topped with cheddar, hickory smoked bacon, homemade bbq sauce and an onion ring. My husband and I split it along with a side of onion rings and the three of us split a full Caesar Salad. For dessert we split the Nutella Cheesecake. The Onion rings were perfectly fried, nice and crispy. Some were tastier the others and the last couple of ones tasted better dipped in the ranch that came with the meal. The burger was very tasty and cooked to medium as requested. I really liked the BBQ sauce in the burger and didn't need the extra sauce they put on the side. The salad was plentiful and served 3 people perfectly. The Nutella cheesecake was good. I liked the crunchy bits mixed in with the Nutella, the Nutella was plentiful. The cheesecake was very fluffy. I would have preferred a denser cheesecake. As for burgers go, they have good burgers. I can't say they are the best burgers ever, but they are local and good burgers. When we got the burger we asked if we could get a sharp knife to cut it and they said the kitchen would happily cut it for us. That worked out great as no one smashed the burger as they were cutting it. I guess we could have asked for it to be cut initially. Next time we'll think of that ahead of time. Parking is ok, they have a private lot they share with the restaurant across the way and some of the spots are designed for the other restaurant so it comes tricky at times finding parking. The mosquitoes were bad inside tonight and our friend got bitten several times.

He did not welcome us nor did he say thank you after we ordered. All he did was ask us "do you want it cooked? It was if we were an inconvenience. He also did not offer straws for our ice tea. I know this may sound petty, but I am getting tired of the sullen attitudes many service personnel have. Our server who brought our food was very cordial, and she checked with us to see how our food was. She has the right attitude for customer service. I spent my career in the service industry and was an adjunct professor at a community college teaching customer service and sales. I do have a good understanding of what makes good service and why it is important.
