This is one of the best meals I've had in my whole life. I got this amazing shrimp and lobster spaghetti with a white wine broth. It was pretty pricy, but TOTALLY worth it! We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. From looking at the prices on the menu, we thought it'd be a fancier place. But it was way casual, more like a pub. Our visit was in July and this place doesn't use their A/C. Or maybe it felt like that as we were seated in the front by the door. I was even warm and I rarely am. My poor hubby, who already runs hot, was sweating away. For food, I ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and husband ordered gumbo, both were standard and fine. For our main entree, I had the veggie burger with cheese and mushrooms added. The veggie burger here is the Impossible patty, was my first time trying it and I enjoyed it! The fries were good too. Husband had the pork entree, he didn't like it. Said it was really bland. He should've listened to our server, Ari, who advised him to get the fried chicken. Next visit! Ari was so sweet and helpful, he even wrote down the name of another downtown Roswell restaurant that serves a Beyond Meat patty. He asked the bartender to create a bourbon cocktails for us when we wanted something other than Old Fashioned's (drinks are excellent here!). For dessert we had creme brûlée and it wasn't good, it wasn't cold enough so the contrast with the crunchy layer and custard wasn't there. All in all, this is a good place for casual dinner but the prices seem high for the ambiance & food quality. Would likely just do drinks here. Great service though!! read more

Not a bad place for a beer although haven't been really impressed by the food. Right in the heart of Canton so fun place for a round and a shot when bar hopping in historic Roswell. The boneless rib plate was good but the raw oysters tasted watery, weren't shucked well, and I've had a lot of oysters, these were not it. The worst was the shrimp and lobster pasta, it was so watered down and unseasoned. The noodles were plain, and no exaggeration, completely untouched by the pasta water. It looked like soup with zero seasoning... We immediately sent it back. The next plate was much better but the noodles were a little undercooked. Visited for lunch on a Monday. Started with calamari & fried green tomatoes. Some pieces of the calamari were overly salty. Server offered to replace half way through. We declined bc of any. Fried green tomatoes were excellent! Grouper was fantastic except it came with a lemon cream sauce... I think they forgot the lemon, added my own & superb. Brussel sprouts were crispy & unseasoned, really needed some maple syrup. Fried chicken dish was very good. This was my 2nd visit. Last time was prime time Friday evening. I've only been to 1920 Tavern once, which is purported to be an exceptional restaurant in Roswell, but my experience was decisively mediocre at best on account of the quality of the food. Perhaps we came on a rough night (it certainly was a very long wait, so it wouldn't be surprising if they were simply stretched too thin), but I couldn't personally recommend it based on my experience. The service--exceptional. Our waiter was fun, animated, and had a great sense of humor throughout the night. I decided to order the shrimp and lobster spaghetti to feed my lifelong lobster obsession. The dish came out at an appropriate temperature with decent presentation, but to my disappointment, had little shrimp and almost no lobster, instead lots of imitation lobster meat. It's also worth noting that the lobster that was present in the dish wasn't cooked properly, coming out a bit tougher than lobster should, but came close. A friend ordered the mussels, which were allegedly "to die for" but were so-so at best. The crabcake, despite being a small portion, had a higher proportion of delicious crab than your usual crabcake, which was nice, but I don't think any of the dishes we ordered were worth the cost. Perhaps the restaurant is more known for their burgers or something, but I can't speak on things I didn't have. For dessert, we ordered the cannoli and fried cheesecake. If choosing one, I would definitely go with the cheesecake; not that there was anything wrong with the cannoli, but the cheesecake was very good. Again, this was my only experience here so perhaps yours will differ, but based on the quality of the food, I don't think I'll be returning for seconds. read more

We attended this restaurant while visiting friends in our old neighborhood. When we lived in Roswell, just north of the old town, it was very nice, but not trendy or busy. Now, it has totally changed and is both busy and trendy. We selected 1920 based on the menu and location in the heart of the old city. First, the drinks were excellent. My wife and our friend had the house Bloody Mary, a colossal drink in a fishbowl. Expensive, but a hit with these ladies. I had one of the craft beers available on tap, which was very good. For dinner, the fish tacos were very good, the mussels outstanding. I tried the ribeye steak and would highly suggest selecting something else. It was the thinnest ribeye I have ever been served. The taste was good, but it was a horrible value. It came with mashed potatoes with blue cheese chunks on top, a very unappetizing dish. My wife had Crème brûlée for dessert. It was really outstanding. Do not miss it. Overall, it was very fun, with excellent drinks and a few recommendable dishes to eat. read more

I came here to celebrate my birthday with my husband. I hate to say it, but I wasn't impressed. The restaurant is really cramped and loud. The service was good, but the food was lackluster. I had the seafood pasta, and it was just okay. The sauce was good, and there was a lot of seafood, but the sauce didn't stick to the pasta at all. I did appreciate how the manager offered us some bread to dip in the sauce, which made it better. I might come back, but I'd want to try other places in the area first. read more

My wife and i decided to eat here since we wanted to try a new place. We sat outside promptly by a very nice hostess. Our server was super nice and attentive. we ordered some raw oysters and they were super fresh and tasty. The sandwiches we ordered were super delicious, but the fried were soggy but nothing to stop me from giving this restaurant a 5. The beer that our server recommended was a local one and was ice cold and delicious also. We had a scheduling issue on my end with our friends which necessitated a call to Summer to cancel our reservation. After some chit chat about how great the menu looked & that I hated to cancel but we couldn't make the time work, she asked what time would work & not only did she made it happen but she made it happen outside! My family and I decided to give this place a try for New Year's Eve. We made reservations for 5:30 and were seated promptly when we arrived. It was busy but not yet "in the weeds." We were seated towards the back of the restaurant in a nicely decorated room. The waitress arrived promptly to take our drink order. Once our drinks arrived we ordered a few appetizers. We ordered the calamari, Mediterranean plate, and Kobe beef meatballs. The appetizers arrived quickly and the presentation was lovely. The calamari was quite good. It had a nice light breading that was fried well. It was crispy while keeping the squid texture soft. Very yummy! The hummus on the Mediterranean plate was okay, nothing special. The meatballs were also just okay. Not much flavor, very dry, and the ricotta on top dominated the dish. The portion size for the meatballs (3) and calamari was very small. One person can finish the dish easily. For our entrees we ordered the grilled lamb chops, lobster and shrimp spaghetti, boneless short rib Shepherd's pie, and the filet. Again the food arrived promptly. The spaghetti was very good. It was served with a nice garlic wine sauce that was light and non oily. The pie was also good with nice flavor. I had ordered my lamb medium rare and it was terribly under cooked and cold in the middle. It was also under seasoned with almost no flavor. Very disappointed. The manager came by and apologized telling me the waitress should have known not to allow me to order it medium rare as the large bone makes it difficult to get that temp correct. The filet was also ordered medium rare and was served under cooked and purple in the middle. Both were recooked and returned medium, which at that point was fine with us. Again the manager came and apologized and offered a free dessert. So we ordered the creme brulee. It was horrible. It had the consistency of scrambled eggs, as if the eggs where added to the hot cream too quickly and they were cooked rather than mixed in. When I brought this to the attention of our waitress I was told this was their take on the dish and the consistency was supposed to be different. We sent it back. It also was pretty cold that night, in the 20's. There must have been a back door near us that kept being opened because all through dinner we felt frigid air blowing under our table. At one point it was held open preparing for a large party, giving everyone a long shot of cold air. Overall the experience could have been better. The service was great, presentation was nice, but the food was inconsistent. The prices suggest a fine dining experience (the lamb was 30) but didn't deliver. For example, we had to box up our own leftovers. This is not a big deal, but given the prices it would have been nice. Details are what often separate good from great, especially in a saturated market like Atlanta. As we left, the manager apologized again and wished us a happy new year (not sure her name but she was from Zimbabwe). We were billed full price for everything minus the dessert. read more

First off, Sydney was our server and she was delightful! She convinced me to try the special which was Italian sausage with grilled multicolor bell peppers and grapes over rigatoni with a red sauce. It was fantastic. I went in wanting steak. My wife had this dry rub chicken served on a bed of 3 cheese Mac and cheese with flash fried Brussel sprouts and that was incredible too. My wife and I were extremely impressed with our first visit to 1920 Tavern. While waiting for our table to be prepared we had a cocktail at the bar and the bartender was very friendly. For starters the French Onion Soup was great (lots of flavor without being too salty and plenty of cheese) and loved the Oysters Rockefeller. The shrimp and grits were unreal and the best we have ever had with large shrimp and an incredible sauce. The Amazing Burger also exceeded expectations with juicy Kobe beef and multiple layers of gruyere cheese covering and between the hamburger patties with mushrooms and aioli on a buttered toasted bun. I asked for ketchup out of habit and it had so much flavor I didn't use a drop. To finish we had the pound cake which was great and came out warm and covered in ice cream and berries. All around great meal and will certainly go back. Strongly suggest a reservation since it was very busy on a Saturday night. read more

We started off with the Oysters Rockefeller and shared a bottle of the Avalon Cabernet. For dinner I had the Nawlin's Shrimp & Grits, which tends to be my go to when I see it on the menu. First time trying this via delivery and can't say enough good things about this food. We ordered the Twin Petite Filet and it was cooked to perfection. Simple salt and pepper seasoning. The Lindz meat is as tender - juicy and flavorful as you would get from a much higher priced steak house restaurant. Steaks came with fresh home made super creamy potato purée and shiitake mushrooms, along with some grilled Asparagus- the shallot cognac sauce was perfect in texture and taste. Everything was delicious. We shared a Crab cake as an appetizer- it was the size of a burger with just enough breading and lots of lump crab. Perfect for two and the lemon beurre blanc was so good!! Sadly it also comes with a potato croquette but it was missing from our order and we could not contact to let them know through Uber but I'm sure based on the other food it would have been great. For Desert we had the Grande Mariner Chocolate Truffle Cake with a dollop of Creme Fraiche. It was rich - creamy and delicious! All in all a great eating experience.
