Yes! My search is over and I've found the perfect stylist! I have very long thick hair and have been terrified of someone saying " Yeah! Stylist didn't listen to what my friend wanted and proceeded to give her an awful hair cut. The last person shed gone to gave her uneven curtain bangs, and the Aveda stylist said there was "nothing she could do" to fix it, and that "it would grow out." Even though they were just uneven and down to her chin, the stylist still said it wasn't possible. My friend then asked if she could make the grown out hair into a wispy long fringe, showing her a picture and video, and giving her numerous try's to just make the hair even. In response, my friend was given thick, BLUNT bangs! They reach almost to her ears with no long pieces on the sides on the sides to frame her face or blend into the rest of her hair! It looks heavy and bulky instead of flowing and soft like she'd wanted. The response was the same, "it's hair, it'll grow back out to fix layer," and I'm not really sure what you want." My friend would never write a negative review, but this was so disappointing that I had to say something for her. She's so sad about her hair and having to wait to grow it out. She said the girl who cut her hair seemed nice, but ultimately didn't give her want she wanted or didn't listen. read more

OHH my gawsh, Can't rave enough about my experience with Kelly. My first time at this salon and the service was great and so welcoming. All over color and a new cut (long bob). The salon in itself is a treat. AVEDA products and complimentary teas and coffee/water make for a hospitable environment. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. Kelly did exactly what I asked and it came out even better than I expected. I came here for about a year and it was ok, I was never really happy with the color but it was decent. Lately I noticed that my simple root touch up was getting pulled through and so I said several times please do not pull the root touch up dye through to the ends. I would like to keep the pretty blond highlights that God has given me naturally, and I just want the roots touched up with light brown. Somehow, I would leave and when my hair dried it would be dark muddy brown from root to tip. This last time I specifically said, DO NOT pull it through because somehow, miraculously, I have been blessed with some nice blond highlights here in the AZ sun and I would like to keep them. No way, she said I won't do that. Yet, before my eyes, she took a small comb and pulled the dark black dye through my hair from root to tips. All over and particularly around my face - because, really who wants pretty blond highlights around their face? When I confronted her, she said I am not pulling the dye through. Really? because now my blond hair is covered with sticky black dye. "No it isn't." Ok, I don't drink but I felt a little woozy at that point. And, she began to get mad at me. Great! Just finish and get me out of here! Once again, when my hair dried it was DARK brown from roots to tips, all over my head. No blond anywhere, at all. I finally got a copy of the formula they had been using, it was nowhere near the formula I had brought to them a year ago. No wonder the color was not 'right.' When I spoke to the manager she was very nice about it but I won't be back. It will take weeks for any blond to come back at all, thank you very much! PS - I don't like writing these kinds of reviews and find them upsetting, I know the salon will learn from this and I will take down the review when I stop being so angry. read more

Went in 2 weeks ago. Loved the salon and vibes and initially loved my hair when I walked out. However, when I got home, I was outside and noticed the color was actually pretty brassy and there was some inconsistent highlighting. Waited a few days but not even purple shampoo could fix the color. I decided to send the salon an email with photos showing that my inspo picture looked nothing like my hair. Helena called me and was SO understanding and willing to fix the issue any way that was possible. She booked me with another stylist Veronica Rose (who btw was willing to stay late on a Saturday night!) Right off the bat, I trusted her. She listened, apologized, and took her time making sure she knew exactly what I wanted. I even told her she didn't need to re do the whole thing as it wasn't her work or fault and it was a Saturday night but she said absolutely not and completely fixed everything with lots of patience. Not only that, she was so fun and easy to talk to and educated me along the way (not in the way of trying to just sell you stuff) I absolutely LOVE my hair now. The color is almost identical to my inspo pic and is so beautiful and evenly throughout. I will definitely be back but if you're looking for a stylist, Veronica Rose is amazing! read more

I have always had trouble finding a good salon- this place was definitely better than many I've been to. I have very long hair that is on the thicker side so I'm not the easiest appointment for most stylists. That being said my stylist, Mercedes, did a great job, she took the time to really find out what I wanted and recommended style tips and products that would help me get exactly that out of my hair. The reception staff was courteous and offered drinks as I soon as I walked in, even though I was a couple minutes late for my appointment. The scalp and hand massages were fantastic- of course- and everyone inside seemed very warm and welcoming. Be advised: the prices on their website are not 100% correct!!! It says $30+ for a basic women's haircut but the "menu" in store says $40+ and mine was $45. Not a biggie, the experience has worth fifty bucks, but do be advised, some of the other prices might be off as well. read more

I had the worst experience with cut and color. I told El I wanted the same hair color as a girl that worked there. far from it. It looked like mud. I went back and told her it was terrible color. She tried to correct and Bleached out all my color. I have had banana hair for 2 months and now I am worried it is too damaged to have colored. PS. Before I started coming here, I was trying new salons and going to new stylists all the time and was never really satisfied with my hair. When I decided to go cruelty-free I wanted to find a salon that used cruelty free products, and that's how I found 20 Volume. I ended up booking an appointment with Kassidy for partial highlights and left that appointment in love with my hair for the first time in years. That was almost two years ago, and I refuse to go to any other hairstylist now. She has helped me go brunette, rescued me from an at-home direct dye fail (I dyed my hair bright red with manic panic), and given me countless haircuts and highlights. Everyone else in the salon is always very sweet and welcoming. I have never had a bad experience here. It's also such a beautiful salon and is always clean. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone. When my favorite stylist, Genevieve, decided to take a sabbatical I was nearly in tears. See, I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to my locks so I have serious trust issues. But after a bit of research, I decided I'd see Deanne, a stylist I'd met at personal gatherings and who always seemed amazing. Now it took a bit to get in because she was just returning from maternity leave AND she's awesome, but boy was it worth the wait! First, I have crazy long hair after birthing two baby boys in two years. And by crazy long I mean to-my-booty long. So there's that. Next, I color it purple, but not too purple, but still noticeably purple. I'm totally a stylist's dream come true (ha!). Most just try and rush to get me done (even though I always mention my long hair during scheduling), and I rarely get the special perks (like a relaxing shampoo). But Deanne says the heck with that! Deanne did everything TOP NOTCH. She took the time to check out my pictures and discuss my color. She took the time to apply my color incredibly thoroughly and never once made me feel bad about how long my hair is. Then came *the shampoo*. I got the royal treatment ... literally. She not only shampooed/conditioned me up, but I saw her apply a special serum during my DIVINE SCALP MASSAGE. Then came my hand massage, which was the best I've ever received at an Aveda salon (and I've hit up a few in Phoenix). When we got down to the cutting business, she cut off just enough (for me, it was a solid 4-5 inches). She didn't take the liberty of knowing what's best for me, as some stylist do. I hate that! Then, she gave me a REAL blow-out (not any of this pansy stuff) and proceeded to dry cut my hair. This was the missing link all along! I didn't even know it. See, I'm a big hair kinda gal, but I have semi-fine hair, so with the layers I love, I sometimes lose volume. BUT DEANNE FREAKIN' NAILED IT. I've seriously never loved my haircut this much. I went in and got my hair cut on Saturday with Amber. She was very nice and the visit was a really pleasant I left feeling good she listened to me and cut my hair how I wanted it. Only problem was it was very uneven A line bob. I'm currently having some health issues and can't see very well and honestly didn't notice the back until I tried to style it the next day and once side was about 1/2 inch shorter than the other. I called the salon left a message since they were closed that I needed it fixed. I got a call on Monday she was very nice and asked if I could come in thur to have Amber fix it. I wasn't able to do this since I can't drive at this time due to my vision and could only come tue or wed. She was very nice and set me up with a different hairstylist Larissa the next day. So today Tuesday I go into the salon to get it evened out. Telling the stylist who seemed in a bad mood right off the bat that I just needed it evened out and showed her a pic of the back since I can't see in mirrors behind me right now. She could see the issue right away. I let her know it's short and I don't want to go shorter or change anything just even it out. I also ask her not to round brush my hair since it's harder for me to tell if it's uneven and I flat iron my hair. She says ok and she's going to fix it up for me. Her assistant shampoos my hair and it was so gentle and relaxing. I go to sit in the chair and the stylist comes over and doesn't speak to me at all. She's so rough that I actually say ouch as she's yanking on my hair to get a knot out. Then say oh sorry. Literally pulling my head to the side. She continues to push my head around without saying a word and was so rough I was stunned. If I could of drove I would of said stop and left. Only reason I didn't was because my husband could only take me today or tomorrow and it was already an inconvenience. So I sat there with my head being shoved side to side and up and down. Then she started to dry my hair slamming a hard brush into my head she was so rough I honestly was getting upset and I don't have a tender head. She then uses a round brush and I just know she is so angry that she doesn't care anything about what i wanted. She then goes to flat iron my hair and the irons off so I tell her no thanks and If it's even I'm good to go. No she wants to flatiron and make sure the cuts good. Ok... the iron gets so hot that I am literally praying that my hair that's smoking doesn't break off. Once the cuts finished it's completely different. It's nothing like I wanted and very flat. I get she was doing me a favor but honestly I wish she just would of said no. This ended up ruining any good feelings I had about going here. All she cared about was getting the pic of my uneven cut. Honestly I got that and I even understood her feeling like she shouldn't have to fix someone else's mistake. But I went here so if I ever had issues I could get back in on my schedule. If your going to do the recut don't take your anger out on me! I decided to right this review because honestly I've been upset all day at how awful I was treated not to mention have a sore neck and headache from her beating. I had all the intentions of tipping her and I even thanked her before the cut. But after all that was like NOPE. Never again I paid 55 dollars for the cut and gave 15 tip so 70 to get uneven haircut then treated like crap when I needed it fixed. read more

My experience at 20 Volume Salon & Spa was way more than expected! It's a beautiful salon in a very nice area. Lots of things to do near by if you ever have to wait. I just wanted a trim. I had 7 inches of length cut off by my last stylist and all I wanted was a trim. Eeeek! That said, I was terrified to get my hair trimmed again. I've had many bad stylist in the past just for a trim. How does one mess up a trim, I don't understand. After researching like a mad woman for a good stylist, I came across 20 Volume Salon & Spa. The reviews on Yelp sold me. I booked an appointment the same day...on New Year's Eve! I was told I would get Emillio as my stylist. I remember reading great things about him on Yelp, so I was pretty excited and confident it would go well. Sure enough...it did! Better than expected! Emillio is such a sweetheart and made me feel completely at ease getting my hair trimmed. We talked about my hair and what I wanted. He never once pushed what he thought I should do. I've had many stylist want to do all kinds of things to my long/straight natural hair. Emillio listened to my concerns and was very easy to talk to. Before we walked over to wash my hair, he gave me an ahhh-mazing neck and shoulder rub with a wonderful smelling oil! Holy COW I've never had one before and I was in Heaven! I was completely relaxed (I'm a mom of 3 little ones so that's rare!...lol). As he got me set up to wash my hair, he put a nice warm towel under my neck and made sure I was comfortable. I've never experienced being pampered like this!... and as I was comfy in my seat, he gave me a relaxing hand message with lovely smelling lotion. I was in awe! As he washed my hair, he let me know what Aveda products he was using and how they worked. He's very knowledgeable with the Aveda products and how to use them. Finally came the trim. He was quick and precise. He put a few products in my hair, blow dried it and turned me around in the chair to look in the mirror...BAM! I had beautiful, bouncy, volumized hair! I LOVED it! I know it was just a trim, but he put so much more work into it than just a trim and it just looked amazing! He's got the salon touch and it shows greatly through his work. You can tell he is very passionate about his career. The only sad part is I am moving. The day I find THE perfect stylist is the day I move. But, I'll only be 2 hours away and I think the service he provided is well worth the drive. I highly recommend him and I will definitely spread the word about this ahhh-mazing salon! I...LOVE...THIS...SALON!!! 5 stars plus 5 more for exceptional customer service. Lemme break down my experience. I called the salon and asked to make an appointment, same day day if possible, the day beforehand re Thanksgiving. The receptionist was very friendly and was able to book me an appointment with Bree, so happy she booked me with Bree. I get there 15 minutes early and was greeted warmly and offered a beverage. The ambiance was so inviting and damn did it smell good!! I waited in the lobby and shortly was greeted by Bree. She gave me a firm handshake and at that point I knew she was going to do wonders to my hair. She asked me if it was my first time to the salon and I said yes, so she gave me a tour. A freakin' tour!! I felt so important and mind you my appointment was @ 6:15 and they close at 8pm so this was just an extra treat. The salon is beautiful and decked out with Aveda everything. I sit down and Bree asks what I want to do. I gave her a short description of what I want and asked her opinion. I was going from long and curly to short. She described what her plan was and I said let's do it. Then...chop!! All my unhealthy hair was on the floor and my head immediately felt lighter. Then on we went to washing my hair. You lay straight so your neck is not arched in an awkward position. It felt sooooo good. The products she used made me so relaxed and again, the smell . I got a hand massage right after she put a warm towel around my face and hair. This wasn't just a hair cut but a full body and soul experience. Now...my hair cut, the main event. We talked about the cut again and I told her that with my thick hair I always feel like my hair is bulky. I asked her to thin it out so that it's not so bulky and she suggested getting an undercut. I said f**k it and do it!!! I was sooo excited and let out a couple of anxious screams, in a good way lol. Sabrina, another stylist helped us out with the under cut design and then buzz buzz buzz. The reveal...my hair came out exactly how I pictured it in my head. Layers short bob with bangs. And the under cut adds an edge to my look. I felt sexy but not too sexy and damn it it feel light and cool on my nape area. Bree was awesome!! The whole salon was awesome!! My experience here was like therapy that I very much needed and could use more of. I bought some products that I know I'll need to keep this crown of mine nice and glorious. I just moved to Gilbert from LA and I was terrified to try a new place, but I am so glad that I did! Everyone of the staff was very polite and the salon looks so cute inside. The Aveda products were amazing!! I loved all of the natural smells. I had John as a stylist and he was great! He didn't make me feel like I had to induldge in small talk and let me enjoy the massage and shampoo. He was very gentle and always told me step by step what he was going to do. I had a really great experience here! I was in town (just visiting for the week) and had been meaning to get my hair cut for a few weeks. I called suuuuuper last minute just on the off chance that they had availability. The woman on the phone was very friendly and accommodating and they were able to get me in within half an hour (though I would not expect that to be typical)! My stylist was Jena', and she was fantastic!! I am very particular about my long hair and Jena' really took the time to listen to my concerns. From the way she was listening, it was apparent to me that she has had a lot of experience with many different kinds of people, and that she has been a stylist for a solid amount of time who really knows her stuff. Her warmth and patience made me feel very at ease. She let me know exactly what she was going to do before she did it and made sure I was comfortable with everything before proceeding. She assured me that she would spend as much time with me as she needed to make sure that I would leave feeling happy and beautiful. I'm SO appreciative that Jena' went the extra mile with me, and she gave me a cut that was EXACTLY what I had in mind! I also let her know how I usually prefer to style (or not style, as the case may be) my long, thick, wavy/curly hair, and she made some on-point recommendations for products to take home (which I did). I am so happy with the experience I had here with Jena'. She has a new, loyal client in me-- even though I live out of state! Luckily I am here visiting at least twice a year. Anywho, I just wanted to update you guys and let you know that 20 volume IS completely helping me out by fixing up my hair again. I had To wait a few months for my hair to get healthy again, but Right after I had had the bad experience before they were willing to have me come in and completely fix my hair cost free! I didn't take that opportunity because I had some personal situations at home going on but even though, they are still willing to help me out months later for 50% off ! Which is totally awesome of them I think I may have just gotten someone who was newish to hair and being that I wanted to go plat blonde and my hair is long things got a little mixed up. I'm on my way over now to get my hair fixed ! So happy they're willing to help and I'm sure knowing that I'm super sensitive about my hair they're going to do an amazing job I'll update with pics afterwards! Btw I'm going in to get the same thing basically..my hair was in the same condition last time, I needed my roots done very badly and a little bit of switch in color. Bree at Williams Field location, is my stylist she did an amazing job with my color correction. It is currently a very light blond. In 4 weeks when I go back I know I will have beautiful platinum hair. She is warm and friendly. I showed her photos of the color I was hoping to have, she was honest and explained it is a process and will take time to achieve, but is doable. The rest of the staff are nice and always offering to make you more comfortable, by getting you a beverage. I love the little alcove waiting area it is so cozy. My boyfriend bought me a VIP service gift certificate for $150. This gift certificate was blank in the expiration date section, which would allow one to assume that it was currently valid. So, I call today to make an appointment and they tell me it expired in November. Well how am I supposed to know that if you don't fill that section in. I tell them that there is no expiration date and instead of them offering any consolation or service, I get a big fat, "too bad, it's expired. " I am sorry but it was your mistake!!!
