I came here as a referral from my mother. Its definitely a clean, tranquil and nice atmosphere and I love the Aveda products. However, my $45 hair cut was not worth it and I will not be returning! My advanced stylist was not very friendly and spent about 10 min total in washing, cutting my hair. I asked for a trim and to clean up my long layers and she took that as cutting for about 5 min, putting some cream in my hair and letting me go. I would've hoped that she would've charged me less for my haircut since it was not your standard cut/style but no...Maybe other stylists are better here..I was hoping to get Emilio but he was booked.. read more

After my last horrible review of a horrible haircut, I did not go back and update this so I apologize to Linda who is the manager (owner?). I called back after the horrible review and spoke with Linda who arranged for me to go in and have the haircut "salvaged" which was at no charge. Everyone was very apologetic and very much sympathetic. I was given a haircut but Master stylist ERIN who was really personable and also gave me a very nice cut --- although she really had a lot f cutting to do in order to salvage the hair at all. Linda has also given me a Complimentary haircut with SABRINA who was very good back in May when I first moved to this area. I will go back and see Sabrina before the holidays. I am happy to update the terrible review I left before. Thank you, Linda and Erin. I look forward to seeing Sabrina in a month or so. read more

This place is HORRIBLE! I really don't see this place being in business for too long. I really have a problem paying for something that wasn't even close to what I asked for. The stylist seemed very uneasy with what she was doing. I have a simple haircut, long hair no layers. Just needed 4-5 inches cut off. The results were less than one inch. When I mentioned this to her, she came up with several excuses, none which made any sense. I complained to the front desk at check out. My phone number was taken and I was assured this would be taken care of. No big surprise NOTHING happened! read more

I was looking for a salon where the stylist would not mind wearing a mask. I know stylist can get pretty close to you since they have to cut your hair and we have health issues in the family, so I looked online for salons that still would accommodate a request for the stylist to wear a mask for my appointment. On the website it says the health of the customer is important and gives a link to the CDC saying mask should be worn, however when I arrived for my appointment my stylist said they don't have a mask and the lady at the front desk said no one has a mask to wear in the salon for the stylist I booked with, so I could just cancel my appointment. I just wish I knew that before I took the time for the appointment. The lady at the front desk told me that the website is not accurate. I just would like the website to be accurate and updated for people who have health concerns out of curtesy for the customers. She mentioned that everyone can't wear a mask, that caught me off guard because I never thought everyone should wear a mask just the stylist I was with since the website said they would Geez. read more

Thank you, I am new to the area and Kayleigh worked magic to fit me in when I called desperate for a cut and color. I have never left a review before- for anything, but I had to comment on how absolutely delighted with my experience I am. Nice atmosphere, vibe and very pleasant people, but of course, the crucial bit is the hair and I have never been so delighted with mine as I am after Mercedes tweaked my color and gave me the best cut ever. Even though I was a "squeeze-in", I did not feel rushed one bit. Mercedes was very thorough and asked lots of great questions to make sure she gave me a haircut I would be happy with. I took my teenage soon in to get a haircut during a event they sponsored, for clean water changes lives. Stacey did an amazing job and all of the proceeds were donated to this charity. So thankful for finding this salon! I'm new to Gilbert and found that the most difficult task was finding a good hair salon. I love Aveda products, so when I saw they were an Aveda salon I called for an appt. Kelly did an awesome job on my cut and color. The appointment started off with a relaxing neck massage using Aveda's blue oil.... one of my fav products. After rinsing my color she treated me to a hand massage while my conditioning treatment was processing. I was super relaxed leaving the salon and can't wait for my next spa cut and color with Kelly. 20 Volume is a professional salon with a super friendly staff. Natalie cut my hair twelve weeks ago, and I have hated it every single day since. Before she began, I mentioned three concerns, and somehow she managed to make all three situations worse instead of better. Three weeks later, I was able to have Stephanie attempt to correct the mess and she was able to make it better, but not great. I contacted the salon a few weeks ago to ask if they provided consultations before booking appointments since I was not sure I wanted to return, but I did not receive any reply. Today I went to a different salon and am pleased with the results--new stylist is much more skilled and charges less, so I will not be returning to 20 Volume Salon. read more

Today was my first time in. I work across the street at Pita Jungle and I've always seen them. I desperately needed a hair cut so I decided to try them out. Called this morning and made an appointment for later that day. Mckinzie was AMAZING!! I got a tour before my cut and was surprised at all that they have to offer. I literally had the best salon experience of my life this evening. I got a super last minute appointment tonight just to get my blonde lighted up since it had been so long since I got my hair done since moving here from Colorado. I always expect to see the same mediocre end hair result of average blonde when I'm finished. Not tonight though!! I am so absurdly happy with my haircut I received from Deanna!!! I have been researching salons extensively for several weeks in anticipation of my big chop. I had thick, waist length hair and hadn't had a hair cut in several years so I was so nervous. I chose 20 Volume salon 75% based on their yelp reviews and 25% based on the fact they are an Aveda salon (I use Aveda products at home). Well, they sure did live up to their reviews!! When I called to set up the appointment I asked if anyone in particular was good with thick hair and I was assured everyone would be okay working with my type of hair. So I let the receptionist put me with the first available. Deanna was who I ended up with and she sat me down and we spoke about what I wanted. I showed her some pictures I found of the kind of cut I wanted but with modifications even to that. She nodded her head and seemed like she knew exactly what I was talking about but I was still nervous when she started chopping away. She told me what she was doing the entire time and I really just trusted her judgement. When she finished, it was like she took the picture I had in my head of how I wanted my hair to look and worked her magic on it. I was like a giddy little kid on Christmas morning! FANTASTIC PLACE! Britni listens to what I want, asks questions, and makes great recommendations. I'm new to the area and am so happy that my mother-in-law referred me to 20 Volume! My mom is visiting from Michigan and she never gets her hair done (other than from a box of color), so you can imagine the work that Britni had to do on it. She did an awesome job and made my mom feel comfortable and beautiful! I think she was close to tears when we left because of how great her hair looked. Kudos to Britni and the rest of the team! I went to have my hair colored and cut this morning and even though it was 43 degrees outside the heater at the Gilbert facility was not working. The heater (which was obviously broken) was blowing cold air and no one would turn it off. Are they not allowed by management to resolve simple issues like this? It was extremely uncomfortable especially when your hair is wet. McKenzie also wet the back of my shirt so the entire back of my shirt was very cold and wet as well. Also, McKenzie refused to cut my bangs the way I wanted them to be cut. Not a great experience and I probably would have gotten better service elsewhere and not frozen to death for 2 hours with wet hair. If 20 Volume salon are going to charge premium prices, you should provide premium service. read more

I would like to know who everyone else goes since this place got 5 stars. I just left there with poofy hair, the top of my shirt is soaking wet, I was rushed through my appointment and have goops of lotion that were smeared all over my wedding ring and bracelet. Kept getting smacked in the face with the girls roundbrush, it was hardly relaxing. Also the girl at the front desk set the tone for the appointment by making me wait ten minutes before she checked me in. This is why I hate trying new places. read more

My appt. was at noon. I was Patricia's first client of the day so I was expecting her to be at the salon when I arrived promptly at 12. Patricia arrived at 12:30 and made no mention of keeping me waiting or apologizing for being so late. While I was waiting I even asked the receptionist if Patricia knew the appt. was at noon and she assured me she did and that Patricia would be in soon. I get my hair done every 6-8 weeks and have no problem waiting if the clinet ahead of me is not finished, but to know she was just late for work and never made mention of it is unacceptable. I understand that things happen, but a simple "I'm sorry" would have gone a long way. I would never keep someone waitng for so long--apparently her time was more valuable than mine. Obviously I will not be going back to this salon. I just moved to AZ--onto fiding a new salon. read more

I love this salon. We have gone to so many and finally found a place that is consistently awesome. I have seen several stylists and they are all great with my hair, but I have to talk for a second about my husband's stylist, Emilio... Emilio's hands are made out of magic. It's the only way I can figure that he is consistently able to take my husband's unruly, cowlick riddled, thick, fast growing hair and give it a style which is professional enough to be respected at work, but still cool enough for a 30 something. I will not take my husband to anyone else...probably ever if I can! Also, they always offer us a coffee or something nice to sip when we come in. It's always a pleasant environment unlike so many salons I have been to. Can't wait to get my hair colored this week! read more

When I got there he was friendly and took the time to speak to me about what to do with my hair. I have a lot of greys that need to be covered and very long hair. I had apt with Erin Thursday at 5:3 , 5/31. She finally finished at 7:15! I can't begin to describe the HORRIBLE job she did on my hair! There aren't words to describe the mess! I booked with her via the Receptionist. She told me how GREAT Erin was and it would cost $50 more because she was the best!! I still don't know what she was the best at, but I am living proof it's NOT hair styling. She did all the massaging, etc. While she was rinsing my hair she sprayed my whole back with water; tee shirt and bra. SOAKED. I told her the style I wanted and even showed her a picture. Didn't do any good. My hair looks like somebody sat a bowl on my head and cut around it. My bangs are despicable! It will be a good 4-5 weeks before my hair will look like I've not been scalped. This whacking took l.2 hrs! Doesn't 20 Volume screen their applicants! Or do they just hire anybody off the street who on that day decided she wanted to be a hair dresser? You must to have hired Erin!! . I implore anybody who is looking for a Hair Salon to stay the hell away from 20 Volume Salon...as far way as they can!!!!! This theory has served me correct through my last move to Phoenix, when I started going to 20 Volume Salon & Spa. I have always gone to Stacey and am always thoroughly pleased with her service and the cuts. I loved that they serve me a glass of wine during my visit.
