You could tell the brisket had been resting for quite a bit because it wasn't warm either. The Mac & cheese that I ordered as a part of this platter was also room temperature and "tart" -- not too sure if this is how it is regularly served but I'll pass next time. We had been eating small bites all day so thankfully we weren't famished when we ordered and I do appreciate the honesty of our server when she stated that this "1/3 lb beef brisket platter" would only be good enough for 1 person. I'm SO glad we didn't order another plate. I would hate wasting so much food. The location itself is spacious and there is ample parking for days when it may be crowded. I've had my fair share of bbq living in Texas and this is not somewhere I would go if I want slow smoked bbq. I understand that this place is halal and we had higher expectations but were disappointed. I went in the afternoon and their seating and ambiance was not pleasurable and was almost awkward with how quiet it was inside. There wasn't much service other than when we ordered our food. We got the chili cheese fries and they did not taste like anything I have ever had before. They had a sauce on top of the fries but im not sure if it was supposed to be a cheese sauce because it tasted very tangy rather than like cheese. Also the "chili" was more of a masala ground beef than a traditional chili. We also got the brisket tacos, beef ribs, and brisket. All of the meat was slightly cold and took a white to receive despite us being one of the few people there. The meat was tender but didn't have the classic smoked flavor that's found in Texas smoked bbq. The baked beans were an absolute no from us as they tasted incredibly sweet- almost like maple syrup beans. The mac and cheese was also edible but not one I would eat again. First time trying the place via Too Good app. It seemed to be a BBQ and grill place. We were given gravy chicken & gravy beef with some rice base, like dry biryani seasoning. I went here couple of times. Food is hit or miss and not consistent in taste. Sometimes briskets are juicy and sometimes it is dry. Customer service from the ladies that work there is pretty good and have always smile on their faces. I believe prices are neither expensive nor cheap. The reason why I took 3 stars off is because of the poor, unfriendly, and unprofessional attitude of the owner/manager, Tushar. They have this policy of charging 18% tip, on all dine-in, of 2 or more people regardless. Many people don't know about this forced tip and add their own tip on the receipt. Upon realizing that they have double tipped, when they complain to the owner/manager, he becomes angry at the customers and start bashing them out instead! Yes, 18% forced tip is listed on the menu, but here is the problem. They don't give any paper menu when you sit down and force you to scan the QR code on the table/wall instead. As soon as the website opens, 18% tip is listed right on top, but since most of the diners comes hungry and open the QR code on their phone it is extremely hard to notice and paying attention to that tip information on phone's little screen. Many times suggestions have been made to the owner to at least have the server remind the customers at the time of payment that tip has been included, to be fair, but it has been ignored and hated. Of course why would he do it if he is easily double dipping? They also charge for everything. A simple BBQ sauce or any other sauces will be charged for regardless of how big your order is. read more

I have no broad education on halal meats but I can tell you that this place stood by this practice, they have good lassis, and the most friendly service. Even the lady who runs the kitchen or she may have been the owner/matriarch came out to ask how everything was. Check them out if you are in this part of town. So we live less than 5 minutes away from here and I always preach you should support local restaurants before chains so to continue with my woke street creed of being know for supporting local business we checked this place out. I gotta say that I'm glad we did. It doesn't have much parking up front but there is parking in by the business strip right beside it and it's a short walk over. They have outside sitting and inside so you can pick your poison. When you enter your greeted from behind the counter by a friendly face asking if it's dine in or carry out. We decided to dine in and enjoy the food fresh. The inside has some tables and a few TVs; nothing fancy but nothing to complain about either. We were handed some menus and you'll notice it's a great blend of local favorites like brisket and sausage mixed in with some Indian cuisines as well. So you get a true cultural take on things. Also they are Halal so if that's part of your religion then you have a great place to eat at. I got the brisket sandwich and the Tandoori Chicken and my partner got the brisket meal. Service was quick but the food did take a bit but of course if you know anything about Tandoori chicken you should always expect a wait to for it to be cooked right. While we waited we were able to get some chips and dip to enjoy and eventually our food came out. I first enjoyed the brisket sandwich which had plenty of flavor but is definitely more on the wet side. So if you're not a big sauce lover it may not be for you but for me it was great. The Tandoori chicken was also great. It was cooked perfectly and served on a hot skillet (like the ones you get with fajitas) so was supper fresh. Overall both entrees were worth a try. So I definitely recommend stopping by and getting something from here. I'll be back to try some more items and will update my review again when I do! read more

What started as something quite exciting, and even met many of those expectations at soft opening, eventually became a consistently poor showing that has stopped me from returning after our most recent visit. Their service has never been more than a minor inconvenience at best, with orders being put in wrong but corrected quickly being the only real issue. The owner and staff are friendly and I wish them the best with improving their restaurant. What makes a restaurant, especially a specialty one like this, is the food patrons expect based on face value alone. This being a BBQ spot, the expectations are that brisket, steaks, etc will excite and tantalize one's palate. However, that's from the truth. It seems like they never really had experience with true BBQ, and hoped that the essentials of cooking in a quick environment would cover the difference. Sadly it doesn't, and leads to products that are far from enjoyable. Overall, I can't honestly recommend this location to someone looking for halal BBQ or American classics. I tried this place on a whim because it's on the AA Dining club site. It did not disappoint. I had the Chicken Tikka Boti it came with lemon rice. Would definitely recommend this dish and restaurant. Fantastic customer service. About a 10 minute wait for amazingness but worth it. I was also told they will be doing a weekday Indian buffet soon. Check this place out. I have been waiting to try this spot and we stopped by finally but unfortunately, I cannot give a favorable review of the food. The young lady who served us was fine. She looked after us and have no complaints there. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. First it came out and the steak itself was very thin, the batter looked rather dark and it came with a thin, not very appetizing looking white gravy. The mashed potatoes were in a separate bowl with brown gravy. That seems an odd combination. The steak was so thin I could cut it with a fork easily enough and as I suspected, the batter had a burnt taste to it, the white gravy not much taste and the masted potatoes had some sort of sweet taste to it that I didn't much care for, I ended up cutting it with the brown gravy and it made it more palatable but not completely pleasant. My wife had the salmon and while I didn't try it, I did sample the lemon rice which was actually not too bad. It came on a bed of onions and green peppers which were underdone for my taste. There was a strange ambiance to the place. They had some jazzy music playing in a style more suited to a coffee shop (I really don't like that style of music which is why I avoid coffee shops!). meanwhile you could hear music from the outside which was some 80's-90's songs and it was very annoying of have the mixture of 2 music styles in ones ears. Overall, it was a very disappointing and underwhelming dining experience. That said, I am always willing to give a place a 2nd try and would be interested to sample their bbq offerings and don't base your choice on whether to visit strictly on this review. It doesn't hurt to go and try it yourself but maybe keep in mind what you order. read more

I wanted to give this place higher reviews but there was just too much going wrong. I do respect that a halal place is attempting something as bold as low and slow BBQ, with an actual smoking process but they haven't mastered the basics of smoking. I suspect they are oversmoking their meat because both the brisket and ribs had a very acrid, bitter taste which usually comes from using smoke throughout the entire cooking process instead of just during the first half like one should. But strangely there was also no smoke ring on the brisket. Something is wrong. By item though: Brisket 3/5 - not bad actually. Tender enough, came smothered in sauce which I was not thrilled about. Word of advice to the owners, put the sauce on the side because many people prefer to control the amount of sauce or not eat brisket with any sauce at all. Ribs 1/5 - not good. They are baby back beef ribs, not dino ribs. Very little meat, also smothered in sauce. Bihari kebab 2/5 - dry, small portion size, tasted ok Chicken reshmi kebab 1/5 - dry, small portion size, tasted fine BBQ sides 0/5 - holy moly, some of the worst bbq sides I've ever had. Seriously guys, go back to the kitchen and rework these if you're gonna try to sell BBQ. Macaroni and cheese was easily the worst Mac and cheese I've ever had in my life, it tasted more like an undersalted creamy cheese soup with watery, over cooked noodles in it. Mashed potatoes were clumpy and bland. Coleslaw was funky tasting and not in a good way. Texas toast was fine but more like buttered toast, nothing Texas about it. read more

Came here tonight with my husband for our weekly date night. Upon arrival, it was definitely one of those hole in the wall spots. We were the only ones there so we were a bit nervous but that QUICKLY changed . We started off with the Texas twinkies which are jalapeños stuffed with cheese and brisket wrapped in turkey bacon (I loved that this place is halal because we don't eat pork very often). They were a good size and stuffed really good , a 10/10 if you love spicy food. My husband got a cherry limeade and that was really good as well. For entrees , we both got the bbq 2 meat platter which came with brisket, a beef rib, a side of your choice and complimentary toast, pickles, and onions. The brisket was super tender and flavorful !!! The ribs were a bit tough but the flavor was definitely there. The fries were homemade and the mac and cheese was really good as well . Was expecting soft pillowy buttered naan. A little let down but this one thing won't be stopping me from coming back. It's fairly easy to get to as it's off the corner of Alma and Parker. Not a whole of parking at the actual restaurant but there is ample parking around the area. Ambiance was solid with both indoor and outdoor seating options. We were greeted by one of the owners who gave us a rundown of the menu. They also used proper buns which helped absorb the flavor. The brisket was tender and melted right in your mouth. The beef hotlink was also very good. The fries were probably the best side. The fried chicken and ribs were okay. The fried chicken was crunchy but fairly bland. You definitely need a sauce with it. It could have used some seasoning. The ribs tasted fine but they were a bit tough. Was expecting them to fall off the bone. Honey BBQ Chicken was probably my least favorite of the entrees. It was smoked chicken with bbq sauce on it. The sandwiches came with a choice of sides so we got mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Both were pretty ordinary and didn't really add to the dish. One thing to keep in the mind is that they are a bit slow. It took about 30-40 minutes to get our food out. Nevertheless their service was excellent and the owners were extremely kind.
