I am a health nut who generally avoids soup because I find most to be too salty and filled with MSG. I am so happy that this place opened in Pasadena because it checks all my requirements. The bone broth in their hot pot is simmered for 12 hours and has no MSG. You get to pick what goes in your soup. They have different kinds of noodles, meat, seafood and vegetables. After eating soup from a restaurant I usually look puffy and bloated, and hours after I get so thirsty. I experienced none of that after eating here. We will definitely keep coming back. read more

5-pot was okay. It is self-serve ramen and what I mean by that is that you select your own veggies and meat and they charge you at the end by the lb (not including the soup). There's not too many items to choose from but you will get a standard treatment. They will have beef chicken lamb slices -hotpot style thin and charge you around 15.99 per lb. Sometimes the soup won't cook everything as some items like hard bead curd take longer to cook. There's 3 types of broth, original, bone, and something else. There is ONE bathroom so you will have to take turns with people. They accept credit card. The waitress is friendly, prompt, and accommodating like any other normal place. Parking is tricky as this is old town Pasadena. There are maybe 5-8 slots in front of the restaurant but it's competing with other restaurants/shops. My best advice is either park down by Green Street and walk over (free parking after 6pm or something check the sign) or park at the Target or the side streets of target. I'm not sure if there is EV charging (I don't think they do). This place is okay for an average so so ramen place if you don't intend to drive to locations with more competitive asian restaurants. The size of the restaurant is small to mid sized with maybe 6-8 tables seating 4 each. Not loud, somewhat bright ambience. It will be on the corner of a street going down Colorado blvd. Just slow down when you're nearing Target. It's easy to miss. read more

We made our own, which wasn't horrible surprisingly, but all the accompaniments that did arrive were unedible, with the exception of the beef and the noodles - (noodles looked straight out of an 89 cent top ramen package). 5 pot definitely surpassed my expectations! I initially thought this restaurant was a shabu shabu spot where you have a sizzling hot pot and cook as you eat. However, this place is different as you pick your fresh veggies, meat, seafood, noodles, etc., and the chef cooks it in the back for you based on the broth you choose. I went during my lunch break so this was convenient for me! I chose the original broth, which was marked as "mild". I didn't find it to be spicy at all, but the broth was flavorful nonetheless. The server was also very helpful and explained everything to me. They also have peanut sauce, green onions, and garlic for you to make a side sauce (like at shabu shabu). It'd be cool if they added 1) a spicy miso/miso broth choice and 2) ponzu as a dipping sauce. Lastly, the passion fruit tea was perfectly made and is refillable. Please don't hesitate to give 5 pot a try. I will be a returning customer. read more
