***Miami Spice Dinner*** I really wanted to like this place. And I did when I saw the Miami Spice Menu online. Lobster is pretty unheard of on a Spice menu, but 5300 Chop House and a lobster tail AND beef angus beef tenderloin as an entree option! SCORE! So with high hopes we went. The place is small and was fairly empty. We were seated immediately and given menus (which reaked for some reason - not that we were sniffing them, that'd be weird). We ordered the heirloom tomato carpaccio, the latin tostones, the prime rib, and of course the land and sea. Also a bonus, the Spice menu comes with a free glass of wine or beer. We received our appetizers before our drinks. Okay. My tomato salad was just sliced tomatoes with oil, vinegar and salt. Nothing special. My boyfriend's tostones were cold on the inside, meaning they were obviously not made to order. Disappointing. Next up, entrees. My beef tenderloin was very tasty. And the mashed potato as well. I saved the lobster tail for last thinking it'd be my favorite and it was actually the most overcooked and chewy lobster I'd ever had. Even the membrane between the meat and shell was so tough that it took me forever to cut through it. My boyfriend's prime rib was okay. It had a lot of fat to cut off but I know that could happen with most prime ribs. The dessert was probably the best item on the menu. The guava pound cake with ice cream was fresh and not too sweet. Our overall experience left a lot to be desired. I would suggest taking better care of food quality or perhaps sticking to items they know they are good at - like the angus beef tenderloin, and maybe doing away with the lobster tail. And finally, figure out what's making those menus smell. read more

Came here for the "nice dinner" night of my bachelorette....and wow it was amazing! It's inside a hotel, oddly we were the ONLY table there on a Sunday night, but we didn't care, the 5 of us loved it. *Miami Spice Lunch* Visited 5300 Chophouse for my first Miami Spice sampling of 2018 and at $23 per person this deal is very hard to top. The restaurant itself is within The Blue Hotel in Doral, a very spacious restaurant with a great looking bar just feet from the swimming pool. We appeared to be the first table of the day but at 11:30am it was fairly early for lunch. Began with the Arugula Salad which was even better than the description; fresh arugula twisted together with a cucumber and served with figs, feta, a nice raspberry vinaigrette and some extremely delicious roasted pecans. Next up for me was the Mofongo with Pork Belly and the Tropical Mahi-Mahi for my fellow food lover across the table. Both dishes were presented beautifully and with care. My pork belly was delicious; resembling a giant succulent Chicharrón, it was greasy, as expected, but ohhhh so tasty. The mofongo was slightly on the dry side which is why I believe the small bowl of chicken broth accompanied it. Drizzled over with the broth, it became much more appetizing. My friends Mahi-Mahi also came out looking fabulous; served on tostones with asparagus and a tropical corn salsa over the top. We were both blown away by how delicious everything on the table was. Finally the 4 layered white and dark chocolate mousse with bourbon cream sauce. Officially called the "Chocolate Genoise Trilogy" this mousse was so light and airy it literally melted in your mouth! So a group of 6 of us visited 5300 Chophouse for their Miami Spice 2018 lunch. I must start my saying that $23 really is a great deal. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, lots of natural lighting and is located right next to the pool of the Blue Hotel in Doral. To get in to the restaurant you must go through the hotels gate, as it is located inside. Now, my favorite part of any visit... the FOOOD. To start s my appetizer, I chose the arugula salad. And let me tell you, it was pretty yummy. It looks like a small portion in the photo, but its actually the perfect salad portion once you break it apart and mix it. I love the sweet taste of figs and raspberry with any salad. For the entree I chose the Mofongo with pork belly. It was really good, I can't say it was the best Mofongo I'd ever had because I would be lying. But it was definitely good, especially drenched in with the chicken broth. The pork belly was my favorite, it had the perfect crispy layer with the nice juicy fat right after, and yummm (as unhealthy as it is, I love my chicharrones). One of my friends also got it, and she felt the same way. Normally, my boyfriend and I like to share two different meals so we get a taste of more variety. In todays case, there was an exception. He chose the crab & lobster tortelli... I must admit it was not my favorite. We both found it to be bland and it did not by any means impress either of us or our other 3 friends who chose it as their entree. For dessert, we all chose the Chocolate Genoise Trilogy as it was our only option. This had great texture and I enjoyed the taste, but nothing that wowed me. Over all, in my whole honest opinion... would I go again? most likely not. Did I feel upset at overpaying for good food that wasn't great? I heard about this cozy restaurant and how they cook extraordinary dishes. So before my vacation come to the end I decided to check it out and it was one of the best decision I made in this trip. I got the Three eggs omelet and half portion of french toast and some hot tea to help with my cold. They have a very attentive staff the manager stopped by the table and so did the Chef. It's a very friendly caring people! I loved it! Who does not like attention right?!! I could not be happier everything was tasty and cooked to perfection. I wish I had more time to spare in here.!!. Me and a few of my friends decided to go to 5300 Chophouse as we wanted to tryout their Miami spice lunch menu. This restaurant is located in The Blue hotel in Doral and it has a view of the pool next door. The ambiance is elegant and overall a nice feel to it. For the appetizer we had the choice of arugula salad or chicken enchilada soup. The soup had a nice array of flavors and we all enjoyed it a lot. At this point it all seemed promising. Three of my friends and I ordered the Crab and Lobster Tortelli and I was not impressed at all. The sauce was bland and the pasta itself was not flavorful at all. The whole meal was like buying refrigerated pasta at Publix and doing it yourself, actually there's a high possibility that the box from Publix would be better in taste. My girlfriend and another friends ordered the Mofongo with pork belly and i must say that they made the best choice out of all of us. It was good Mofongo, not the best we've ever had, but nonetheless it was very enjoyable. For desert we had the Chocolate Genoise Trilogy which was also okay, but nothing out of this world. We came early so it's a little empty but my kids get to make noise and bother anyone . Get the Cuba. Allow me to preface by saying this was an expensed business lunch. Yet it pained me to see a tab of $95 for three people (18% gratuity included in check) who all raseberry drank ice teas. The hype begins as you drive through a security gate and advise the very proper and respectful guard who hands you a parking pass. Initial thought -- we are in for a treat. Service (Gaby): Friendly, nice smile and cordial. Gaby eloquently described the specials and menu. Food was served timely and at a good pace. 2 hrs start to finish. Appetizer: Poor attempt at it's namesake "empanadas" $16. Basically, three dry, half-dollar size (small) pita-type pockets with grill marks. One, filled with melted grated cheese similiar to what my kids make for each other on Saturday afternoons. Second, filled with potatoe salad similar to that of which you can buy a one pound tub of at grocery store for a few bucks. Third, filled with decent flavored "ropa vieja" or shredded beef. Plate garnish was a remedial attempt at adding color, parsley etc. Again, $16!!! Entrees: Mine, Blackened Dolphin Sandwich $18, maybe 3 oz slice of "fishy" Dolphin. Mini bun, small leaf of lettuce, one slice of tomatoe. Reminded of me White Castle sized burgers. Additional $2.50 for mashed potatoes similar to instant..yes I said it.....INSTANT. Churrasco - likely looked the best of all dishes, bland flavor with more parsley decorations accompanied by mini-dish of wet spinach. $20+ Lomo? (I think it was called) served in a bowl, shredded beef with sauteed green, yellow and red bell peppers. No comment was made by eater (my client). $20+ Finished up with a couple of overpriced coffees. 5300 Chop House management, your location and decor is pleasant but "who are you trying to kidd"? Again, I felt guilty using the company money to pay for this mediocore, overpriced, "boutique" dining experience. Furthermore, my boss was with me....yikes. How must dinner be? This place seems like it is fancy when you arrive because you have to enter through the hotel gates but the service was definitely lacking. There were only three tables sitting including us and any time we wanted something we had to flag the waiter or waitress or hostess down to get something (no one was ever formally introduced as being our server and any time something came out it was brought by a different person). I do have to say the hardest person working was the person who seated us. I do not know if she was a hostess but she was bringing out food taking orders and overall picking up slack from the other three people on staff who only seemed to be gossiping by the bar. Now since it is miami spice month my friends and i like to sample everything on the menu so we each ordered something different. The best part of the entire meal was the arugula salad as an appetizer. The dessert was a close second because it was just the right amount of sweet but the other appetizer on the menu and the entrees were definitely not what i expected them to be. The soup of the day was vegetable soup and sadly it tasted like it came straight from the can. The mofongo and pork belly looked promising but was definitely lacking flavor, the pasta was tough and also lacked flavor but the garlic bread deserved a better meal to be paired with. I can't say too much about the Mahi because it was so salty that everyone at the table tried it in order to persuade our friend that it wasn't that bad but it seriously was. Kind of a disappointment. Was staying at the Provident and had dinner here one night with co-workers. They were seated towards the end of Happy Hour .. waiting patiently for our server (who loitered about the empty restaurant managing to not make eye contact or hear our "excuse me"s ..) a few of us managed to miss out on said Happy Hour. Darn it. We all had the churrasco .. was passable. Service remained inattentive throughout dinner. Really hard to convince ones self to tip in these instances. A wonderful find, parking was easy to get into, a bit tricky to get back to, but in the end a great night. My Friend and I decided to check this out on a Wednsday for Drinks. We sat outside in the warm Florida Night, Brickell Lights and Palm Trees in our view, very nice. Our Waiter Tomas was very nice and made the night with his suggestion of the Cerviche..tasty. I am definately brining my girl back for dinner. The prices for most drinks and appetizers were 10 dollars, we enjoyed this night very much. One word on parking, there is a very nice Public Garage. You drive in and up a wild circling spiral and land up on the 5th floor. Nice Elevators drop you out one side of the building. But at night it closes and you have to buzz security to let you in. You go in 'Between' the two hugh buildings with the amazing lattice Connectors high above your head. Look for the Escalators and go up to the glass door and buzz security, they will let you in. Head up the elevators and in no time you are in your car all safe and sound. Hey we like dining downtown, and the Chop House is a rare find, you need to check it out! The Service was amazing and you so need to see the Bar, a million bottles of booze are on display, I was in awe! read more

The place itself is mediocre but probably because we were the only ones there :) Appetizers: I had the salmon fritters - they were ok but a little dry. I liked the mango sauce that accompanied it but only by itself. The pork sliders were very flavorful - reminded me of some good ol' Memphis BBQ. Entree: had the 5300 burger it was amazing! The Fried egg and the crispy, thick, yummy fries completed it! Definitely in the running for the best burger. Dessert: the Flan was Great!! Parking was easy (somewhat difficult to find in Doral at lunchtime), after going past the guardhouse. Atmosphere of restaurant was very nice, service was was just ok. We had to ask for several things multiple times You could tell they were a new operation, I think it will improve with time, the attitude of all the staff was very positive. If you mess up, but look like you are really trying, I usually give the benefit of the doubt. Ceviche appetizer was good, but overpriced at $11. It was presented beautifully. Special could have had more fish in it, the comment was very well received by the waiter and host. it was topped by something cubans call "fufu", that was delicious, with bits of pork rinds in it. Espresso was way overpriced at $4. They will have to change that. I will surely go again and hopefully they are into a groove by that time. read more

The bar inventory is light because they don't sell but you don't sell what you don't have. Also at the bar, if you have wine racks visible to the public FILL them. Spotty is tacky. The menu has some good items on it, but, for a steak house where the steaks should be stars, they're kind of lump listed on the menu in a very unappealing and uninspired way. I went here for date night, since my husband and I are trying one Miami Spice restaurant per week.. It was a huge mistake. First off let me say that we were the only customers in the entire restaurant, however the waiter informed us that was normal due to it being a Sunday evening. Upon being seated, they started vacuuming the AC area, claiming it would break if they didn't do it right then and there.. At this point I was ticked off, so I asked if we can be seated outside for some quiet time. We were moved to an outside table which was surrounding by kids in the resort pool. It is a chocolate genose with three layers of different mouse chocolate. The top was white chocolate topped with dark chocolate pieces. The middle was milk chocolate and bottom layer was dark chocolate with some brownie at the bottom. It's just such a great mix of chocolate enough to satisfy and does not make you repugnant to the taste. This Restaurant is located inside The Hyatt Blue Resort, they are participating in the Miami spice, so we decided to try it. It was very, very busy so if you only have an hour lunch and need to get back to the office, perhaps go at a different time. The food was good, the service was OK. Started with Salmon cakes that were very fishy, a churrasco flatbread that was too salty and a cheese/meat tray that was very good. Steak was a bit dry - even though it was cooked medium. The side that accompanies most steaks is an unexciting bland vegetable medley. Ordered two desserts - the salted caramel cheesecake (I'd suggest passing on this one) and an incredible banana bread pudding recommended by our server.
