Got seated no problem on a weekday for dinner without reservation. Plenty of bar seating as well. Got the braised short rib pho and the lemongrass pork chop banh mi. The pho was the star of the show and had a good spice to it. It's a good and consistent Vietnamese chain in the city.

One of the best Viet restaurants in NYC. The Pho and Bun is spot on. I always come in for the Bun or Banh Mi. One of my favorites is Beer batter fish.

10/10 pho I got the classic beef for 18 dollars and it was very filling I even had some to go. Not only was my tummy full but so were my eyes. Every person who worked here was so gorgeous, especially the male server (he had arms for days). The place inside is very cute and calm. I would definitely come here again and recommend to anyone looking for a quick dinner! P.S. we tried the ube ice cream, NY cheesecake and pandan crème brûlée, GET THE PANDAN CRÈME BRÛLÉE!!!

My experience is based on delivery: 5 star food, 5 star customer service I have ordered from the gramercy/kips bay location several times. The food always arrives hot, is always well packaged and tasty. My personal go to is the SHAKING BEEF Bo Luc Lac Stir fried Angus steak cube) bun. It is served Served w. Side Salad & Nuoc Cham: (Romaine, Cucumber, Pickled Mustard, Grape Tomatoes, Carrots & Daikon). I appreciate the choice of Vermicelli rice noodle, Thai Jasmine rice or Solely Salad. I always choose rice and the packaging is amazing, the beef is kept seperate from the rice and arrives hot and aromatic. My mom also loves this dish but ordered it with the solely salad and opts for double veggies. We have also tried several of the bahn mini including the lemongrass chicken, the brisket and the braised short rib. All are tasty. I do recommend adding the dip for $1 as it really takes it to the next level! I ordered the lychee iced tea sweetened today. It was sweet but not too sweet which I appreciated and as with everything from 5ive spice very thoughtfully packaged in a way that there is no leaking in transit. 5ive spice has some great all day and happy hour specials, I look forward to trying their food in person when I am in the area. Customer service: One time, on a particularly busy weekend in NYC, I received the wrong bahn mi sandwich. I ordered the brisket bahn mi and received the lemongrass chicken. When I called 5ive Spice, I spoke to the manager John who was incredibly apologetic and explained it was a very busy night, without offering excuses. He offered a full refund and invited me to order again and call and he would include a complimentary bahn mi. For what it's worth, it was a very busy night in NYC, all of the restaurants we were trying to get take out or delivery from were quoting 2+ hours, and John handled the situation perfectly. The food we received was tasty and did arrive on time.

This is our third visit to 5spice but first time at this location. It is a smaller than the downtown spice we usually visit. The food is equally good, pho is the same and very flavorful. Waitstaff is nice and polite. Would recommend, you can't go wrong with this franchise.

Came here for a late lunch with the kids. We ordered 3 dishes between 3 kids and an adult - 2 classic phos and the bubba com. Also got an extra serving of noodles which they charged either $4 or $6 (can't remember). All came and served pretty quickly and the kids demolished the soup noodles. 3 standard dishes with tax and tip ended being $85.

I came here after work and sat at the bar. The server was nice and helpful. I ordered the spicy short rib pho with a side of chili oil. The food came out so fast, I was surprised. This is my new go to order. It's my second time having it and it's literally so much food. I didn't even need to order anything else. I stopped in for dinner here after a show at Gramercy Theater on a Saturday night. No reservation was needed, and the restaurant had a stylish, well-decorated atmosphere. The pricing was on the higher side, though that's somewhat expected for the area. A fun touch was one of the bathrooms hidden behind a bookcase. I wouldn't have noticed if my friend hadn't pointed it out. As for the food, it was decent but didn't quite live up to expectations given the price. We tried the summer rolls, which came recommended, and they were good. The menu also included corn, which felt unusual for a Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered the 5ive special pho, which was supposed to have some spice according to the menu, but it lacked any heat and didn't taste much like traditional pho broth.

Wow The Kung Fu Pandam cocktail is a unique blend of sweet and (very mild) spice. The Pork Belly of Noodles and Pho were delicious. The Chicken Fried Dumplings were deep fried. We probably would have preferred them to be pan fried. The room was comfortable and the service was attentive.

I had a delivery order of fried chicken dumplings, vegetarian spring rolls and a lemongrass chicken Bahn Mi. The spring rolls were crisp and delicious with a pleasant dipping sauce. The fried chicken dumplings were on the soggy side but that might be a result of steaming inside the delivery box, one of the constant risks of getting deliver...everything gets soggy if given enough time. The lemongrass chicken Bahn Mi was packed with lots of chicken and pickled vegetables, a nice sauce and crispy bread. I would have liked a little more lemongrass added to the chicken. In all, this was a hearty, tasty meal that I would order again. Delivery was quick and packing was well done.

My friends and I had a pretty good experience here before a show! The Brussels sprouts and spring rolls were a definite highlight of the meal. I also liked the steak bowl. My only issue was that the wrong meal was brought to me, and when I asked for the right meal, the server told me I was wrong. I didn't appreciate that, but aside from that, I had a great time!

I've heard fantastic reviews about Pho, so I decided to give it a try and stopped by 5ive Spice Tacos & Banh Mi. The food, service, and staff were excellent. Although I didn't end up trying the Pho, the Bun/Com Braised Short Ribs with rice caught my attention, and it definitely lived up to expectations. I will definitely return.

We are foodies, and this is one of those delicious restaurants that makes a cold New York winter worth it. Everything was terrific. It's more mid-range than the old school Vietnamese spots in Chinatown. The tacos are amazing, and unique. We had Pho with pork on the side, grilled shrimp salad, spring rolls, fried fish with rice. TLDR; soggy banh xeo Having frequented the 5ive Spice in Brooklyn when I lived nearby, I was excited that they had expanded to Manhattan, where I live now - only to be disappointed. My friend and I came and got the Banh Xeo tacos and spring rolls. Spring rolls were great, comparable to all other NYC Viet spring rolls, but the banh xeo really left a lot to be desired. For the banh xeo, the protein options were much more limited than the Brooklyn menu; specifically, you can only choose between swai (fish), braised ribs, and soy protein. Differing menus are fine but how do you remove the classic Viet pork & shrimp option? But okay, we got the ribs and soy protein ones to try. They do add a decent amount of protein to each "taco" which is nice, and while the flavor of the banh xeo itself is fine, it was so, so, unappetizingly soggy, which was a bit confusing because the proteins themselves were not excessively saucy, and there was a bit of lettuce between the proteins and the crepe/"shell." I ended up eating half of mine and taking it to go because eh, but my friend finished one of the three and then stopped eating. The bartender offered to replace it with something else like the spring rolls, but she didn't end up taking his offer because she was really only there for the banh xeo. Weirdly, he took away her tacos (assuming he trashed them) and when he brought a box for mine, we thought that meant he would take her order off the bill (since you didn't offer a box for hers?). While he did give a small discount to the bill, when I asked if her meal could be taken off, the answer was no. Not sure how that's different than replacing it with another entree or app, but more importantly, why would you have thrown away her food and not made it clear that it was going to be on the bill, especially when the other person in the party was clearly continuing to eat her banh xeo and could have taken it for leftovers? So strange. read more

Terrific new addition to the Gramercy/Rose Hill neighborhood. Dining here was such a delight, from the thoughtful waitstaff to the consistently tasty dishes. We started with spring rolls which were hot to the touch. The waiter showed us how you wrap the roll with the side of slaw and lettuce leaf to dampen the heat. Who knew?! What a delicious way to eat a spring roll. I opted for the Viet Taco with ground beef and shrimp, which came with a dipping sauce and spicy condiment to control the heat. Perfect for me as I'm not a big eater but might not have been filling enough if I'd not had the spring rolls to start. On the other hand, my husband who had ordered the yummy 5 spice special pho had leftovers. Can't go wrong here. read more

Has gone downhill quite quickly, we originally really liked this place but recent changes have made this place less appealing. The dinner menu has changed so there is less options and higher prices. Service is very cold...not friendly, very robotic, and lacks that neighborhood feel and warmth. Not going back anytime soon. read more

I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. It feels like just another restaurant that's lost sight of creating an actual experience for guests. The lack of vibe is obvious--if you don't want customers, just say so. I'm giving 2 stars out of respect for the fact that people have to work for a living.

However, after waiting 10 minutes+, we asked about it and they decided not to do 2nd place prizes because there weren't "enough" teams (there were 8 teams), even though they knew how many teams there were during both announcements. Lying is super uncool. Don't take their word for anything - won't be back. Otherwise, food was good, and service was fine.

There were around seven employees behind the counter, yet somehow everything moved at a glacial pace. One person took orders while a manager mostly stood around directing people to do tiny, unnecessary tasks instead of actually helping move the line. There was even someone dedicated to adding individual toppings to slices, painstakingly placing basil leaves one at a time, while dozens of customers waited. At one point, she even dropped a stack of pizza boxes, adding to the chaos. Meanwhile, slices would be ready but they'd call customers one at a time instead of handing out multiple completed orders. The result was a line of only five people turning into a backlog of roughly 25 people waiting for food. I've never seen a place with so many employees accomplish so little. If your business model is selling ready-made pizza by the slice, customers should not be waiting half an hour. The food wasn't bad, but the operational inefficiency was so frustrating that I wouldn't come back.

The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. You order through an iPad which has a beautiful menu.

I was craving Vietnamese food and decided to stop by 5ive Spice for lunch. Upon entering, I was struck by the restaurant's beautiful decor. The host greeted me warmly and promptly seated me across from the bar, close to the closed kitchen, where I couldn't help but overhear the side conversations among the staff standing nearby. As I settled in, the host offered me a choice of sparkling or still water and I opted for still. I spent a few minutes perusing the menu before ordering the lemongrass pork chop banh mi. This sandwich sounded delicious in theory; however, it fell short of my expectations. The pork was neither as flavorful nor as seasoned as I had hoped. Moreover, the sandwich lacked any spiciness even though I'd requested extra spice. The thick bread was overwhelming and I did not enjoy the accompanying carrot slaw. On the bright side, the side of taro crisps provided a delicious crunch. I was disappointed that I liked the taro crisps more than my actual sandwich! The iced rose lychee tea that I ordered was warmer than expected. I was taken aback when I received my bill and discovered that the still water came with a hefty $6 price tag. There was also a random "NYC" fee added to my bill. I was further disappointed when I learned that I had been automatically enrolled in the restaurant's rewards program after paying with my credit card. This resulted in receiving unwanted texts shortly after leaving the restaurant. In conclusion, while 5ive Spice offers a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff, the quality of the food and the pricing leave much to be desired. I recently had the pleasure of dining at 5ive Spices and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the beautiful ambience of the restaurant. The decor was modern yet warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a cozy dinner with friends or a romantic date. But the real highlight of my experience at 5ive Spices was the food. Not only were the traditional dishes absolutely delicious, but the restaurant also had some new additions that were not yet on the main menu. These new dishes were truly exceptional, showcasing the chef's creativity and skill. I highly recommend asking your server about the off-menu items, as they were some of the best dishes I have ever tasted. From the flavorful and tender beef pho and tacos; every dish was an explosion of taste and texture. Overall, I highly recommend 5ive Spices for anyone looking for a great dining experience. I wasn't initially excited about having pho, as I was really craving something heavier, but I decided to give this place a shot since I pass by it often. I opted for the Bun Bo Hue pho, and it exceeded my expectations. The broth was perfectly spicy and served hot, while the noodles were delightfully soft. To start, I had the sweet potato fries, which were addictive, and the fried chicken dumplings, a fantastic appetizer that set the tone for the meal. The waitress was also attentive and gave me the perfect recommendation for the Butterfly cocktail. With infused gin and coconut milk, it was smooth, delicious, and had a delightful punch.
