Took a picture after I started. But this tasted better than it looked.

This review shocks me. I would never expect that an airport steakhouse would get 4 stars but if I could give it 4.5 I would. Was taking a flight to Vegas and wanted to eat something substantial before the flight. Was sharing with the wife and we decided to share a hangar steak. WOW. The steak was phenomenal . Tender and perfectly cooked served with delicious crisp French fries. The old fashioned was also well made. Next time at JFK Terminal 5. Check it out.

    $75 ribeye

Standard airport fare, hostess wanted to seat me outside the restaurant rather than at a comfortable booth. The furniture had torn upholstery, service was slow, my water glass had a mystery sauce smeared on it. The good news is that my ribeye was a solid medium rare and tender. The waiter attempted some service recovery but back of house sent the wrong sauce out after the dirty glass. This place needs work for a $75 steak!

Hubby and I came here for breakfast since we arrived at the airport early. This restaurant is inside Terminal 5. It was not bad because we knew what to get: bagel and lox. Order this while you're still in NY. We had a waitress named Cash helping us with our order, although ordering via a scan code is easy. We also had two Sunnyside eggs. We liked it here better than getting food at the kiosk because we could sit comfortably here rather than eating at the gate while waiting for the plane. Nice experience.

Grilled Chicken BLT Club - thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, BBQ mayo sourdough bread

With a 90-minute delay I needed a place to eat and this was probably going to be my only meal for the day. The place looked nice, so I thought I would give it a try without looking anything up. Going to the desk and asking for a table came back with the reply that they would open at 11:00 AM. Well, since that was ten minutes from now we could wait. Oh, but I could get you a seat while you wait. Okay... why was that even a discussion point? Anyway... The menu seemed good, and I went for the Grilled Chicken BLT Club - thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, BBQ mayo sourdough bread with the Hummus and pita to start. The hummus was a little too loose but at least it still worked for me. The Grilled Chicken BLT however, was a bigger challenge. Overall, the taste was okay, but the chicken was a little overdone to the point where if there was a personal threat in the area I could probably have used it to defend myself. Otherwise, it does have nice open seating, and it is located right as you enter Terminal 5. I just wish it was as good as it looked.

Scammed on the TIP 18% for to-go order without showing to the customer or letting customer know before charging.
    K. Kyle S.

Terrible Service, Scammed the customer for TIP/Gratuity ~ First, we sat for dine-in n the server take awhile n we still haven't get serve n we r in a bit rush so we decide to just order to-go; so we left the table and walk to the front receptionist and told him we want order to go, and he told us just scan the QR code to order n I asked can't we just order my mouth? We really don't wanna do QR code order app, it is just annoying. N receptionist asked one waitress to come order for us, after she placed everything n told us the total ~ but it seems so much, we order total est $60 ish with tax but she told us $70 ish so we asked for receipts then we noticed she charged the TIP without letting us know ~ we were very unhappy about that, we r friendly with tip but not in this way. So we asked for manager for full refund n we let her know this is to go order, n she was like no ~ this is done in order. We were like NO, we r here outside standing waiting for togo oder, finally we did get our full refund but after going through at least 20-30 min wait back n forth keep asking for refund ~ not happy ! First day & First Time in New York ... bad experience!

Build Your Own Omelet (ham, spinach, green peppers)

At 5:30 AM, the options for a hot breakfast are limited at this terminal. 5ive Steak (pronounced "Five-Ive?" That can't be right) will do though. It's not cheap, but it's also not bad. I think the food can politely and honestly be described as a bit dry, but serviceable. Our server did a great job getting our food and the check to us quickly so we would not miss our flight. And, if you're the kind of person who enjoys eating an omelet and sipping coffee while watching panicked travelers sprint around an airport terminal, this expansive dining area has you covered.

    Really gross eggs benedict

The food is incredibly bad. I ordered eggs benedict and the sauce is mustard flavored. Also we asked for water and never got any.

We were stuck in the airport with our flight delayed so we decided to grab a bite. We ordered the fried calamari and I had a burger and fries and my girlfriend had the Turkey burger. Unfortunately, the calamari and fries were way too salty for my taste and the burger was just ok. I really wasn't expecting much but it was ok, hence the 3 stars. The waitress was nice and quick.

    Trevor M.

I think this photo of their chicken club sandwich speaks for itself. This place is horrible. I would give this place a zero if I could. Bread tasted two weeks old and chicken was horrendous. Bacon was ok. So basically I paid $22.00 for some limp bacon and fries.

Carl - the man you must meet.

Star of the show is Carl, bartender and the life of the party. Had a flight out and stopped by quickly for some food and drinks, while the food was subpar, he made the experience much more enjoyable. A captivating personality with countless jokes and outgoing personality, led to a comfortable evening before departure. Recommend stopping by the bar and listening to his welcoming attitude and jovial character. You won't be disappointed.

Normally, I don't expect much at an airport, and I hate the prices... But this place was definitely worth it! Burger I had was delicious, but the real star was the chopped salad. I would eat that every day, it was so tasty and fresh. Delicious apple vinaigrette, lots of tomatoes and feta cheese... There was an up charge to substitute salad instead of french fries, and it was totally worth it. Shout out to Kamini -- so sweet and helpful, she definitely added to my very pleasant experience here. Overall the service was friendly and fast, very nice open environment, loved it. I would go back next time I'm at JFK!

It had an oddly fishy taste when it should've been rich and buttery. It also lacked proper seasoning, so we ended up sending it back. For the entree, we ordered the dry aged porterhouse, priced at nearly $200. We asked for medium, but it came out well done, which was a letdown. The chimichurri didn't taste authentic, and while the signature steak sauce was fine, it wasn't anything memorable. We also ordered a side of bacon, which was decent but I've had better. The chili prawn noodles were another miss. It came with only four shrimp, wasn't spicy at all, and used spaghetti noodles, which felt off for the dish. The only real highlights were the creamed spinach and shishito peppers. Those were solid and you just can't go wrong with it. At best, I'd recommend coming here for the cocktails and the view. The food alone doesn't justify it. I added an extra star strictly because of the service. Shirley was excellent. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and gave great wine recommendations. Very accommodating and genuinely pleasant, which made the experience better overall.

I even received a rose for the occasion! However, we waited 10 minutes before someone finally approached us and asked, 'Is anyone helping you? Are you okay with tap water?' I understand it was a busy Valentine's Day weekend, but I expected a proper greeting rather than just being asked about tap water. When she brought the water, she asked if it was our first time. We said yes, expecting a brief explanation of the restaurant's concept. Instead, she just said, 'Technically, the meats will come to you, and you can go to the market and get anything you want. That's our special for tonight, you can go ahead and head over to the marketplace.' We went to the 'marketplace,' and it was delicious! We tried several items, and everything was tasty and fresh. Salads. Cold cuts. Rice. Beans. Zero complaints there. Back at the table, the gauchos began bringing the meats--filet mignon, picanha, sausage, bacon-wrapped steak, chicken, and lamb. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service, however, stayed subpar. My mango caipirinha arrived five minutes later, but my husband's Coke never showed up. We waited all dinner for it and never received it. Our waitress only came back once because we flagged her down for water, and then again for the check. Even the tables around us were wondering where she was. This was extremely disappointing!!! Zero smiles or a nice tone from Her. The food was delicious (5 stars), but the service she provided was definitely 0 stars. I want to come back for the food, but the service is making me think twice.

But we are huge fans of the Peter Luger steak sauce & we had visitors, so why not visit this iconic steak house which is conveniently not located in NYC proper? We arrived a little early for dinner, so the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. They had us sit for a second at the bar lounge while a table was being assigned to us. The ambiance really plays up the heritage of the Peter Luger brand. We were seated towards the very back of the restaurant. I really liked the area since it was not too dimly lit. We started with the breads and wedge salad. I love carbs, and I liked that the breads were a little heavily seasoned. Caraway seeds are not for everyone, but they are for me. The butter was not very flavorful or soft, but I guess that's being too picky for free bread and butter before the meal. I chose the wedge salad because I knew I'd want crisp lettuce with my steak & also this salad comes topped with chopped bacon. The same thick bacon that people order on the side! It felt like a two-for-one dish. I enjoyed both the bacon and the lettuce smothered in blue cheese. The bacon really was nicely cured. We got the steak for two, which came on a sizzling plate precut. We did ask for medium-- not my preference-- because my guests didn't really enjoy eating meat not browned up all the way through. However, the steak came out closer to medium-rare. Initially, the plate was hot enough for us to try to sear the pieces. However, I found that the plate cooled much more quickly than I thought. The flavor of the meat was very prominent and the seasoning was well executed. Creamed spinach was a bit of a disappointment. It just didn't really taste like anything except a little muddy in aftertaste. The onion and tomato were nice, thick slices that helped cut through the richness of the steak. I did write on the reservation that my guests were celebrating a wedding anniversary, and they brought out some whipped cream and chocolate even though we declined dessert! The mashed potato was cold and missing salt. Broccoli and creamed spinach was ok. The steak fries were burnt and dry, very odd texture and disappointing. The bacon corn brulee was the best side. It tastes like a chunky and slightly salty cream of corn, definitely recommend it.

This Uncle Jack's location was not busy on a Friday Night at Prime Time 7PM?! I was surprised to…read moresee that there were only a few tables occupied as I was expecting the place to be packed. I made sure to secure a reservation since I had a large group; 9 of us in total, to celebrate two birthdays. Expectations were high given its reputation as a classic steakhouse, but I had not been to this location before. I've always had a great experience in Manhattan. Overall, this was just a "mid" experience - reason being mainly the food. Our server was fine - he took our orders and successfully managed all of our drinks. However, he only checked on us twice and it took a bit of time to get his attention for the check. The other staffers that brought out our food, extra plates or silverware were attentive as needed. We definitely ordered a lot of food! However, each dish was underwhelming and not memorable. What would have been a nice dinner with family and friends, but the quality was just not there. To be honest, the favorite of the night besides the $130 bottle of wine (Chateau du Parc), was the appetizer - thick cut maple glazed bacon which they now serve on a clothesline instead of on a warm plate, a trend these days. And the other memorable dish was the organic mesclun salad. The tomatoes and goat cheese were really fresh, and the salad was not overly dressed. Noticed I didn't mention the steaks. Meh. Other appetizers we had: - Charred Spanish Octopus (a very busy dish, needed to be simpler)- Lobster Bisque with chunks of lobster meat, meatballs for the table, and baked clams (bread crumbs were good) For dinner/shared by all: - we ordered two orders of "Porterhouse for two" to share at each end of the table. It was cooked as ordered, medium rare but it was not well seasoned. And it was more rare then medium... Still good for leftovers but not how it should've been. - Prime Rib Chop (aka Fred Flintstone) which was a 35-day dry-aged long bone Tomahawk chop. It was quite the presentation but flavor profile totally a miss. I did wrap it to go to save the bone and to re-cook - Prime Filet Mignon - lightly seasoned and slightly over cooked - The Big Jack Burger, very decent burger and cooked perfectly as ordered. The fries were great - lightly salted and plenty of them. The sides were most disappointing this evening: -garlic mashed potatoes, see photo -creamed spinach, decent but not memorable -brussel sprouts with bacon bits, plenty of char We were disappointed in the overall taste and prep of the steaks.

A Birthday Dinner That Felt Like a Scene From a New York Movie…read more We chose Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse for my birthday dinner because we wanted something special--not just a good meal, but a real New York moment. And the moment we walked in, I thought, yes... this is exactly where a birthday should happen. The restaurant is absolutely stunning. The high ceilings, dramatic staircase, rich wood, elegant details, and huge dining room made everything feel grand and glamorous. It had the classic energy of an American steakhouse, but with a modern and luxurious New York style. Then I noticed the enormous floor-to-ceiling windows. Honestly, the glass was so perfectly clean that I almost forgot there was glass there at all. For a second, it felt like the entire city was simply open in front of us. I was strangely impressed by this because giant windows in a busy city are not always this spotless. But here, they were crystal clear, and the New York view became part of our dinner. We sat looking out at the city, ordered wine, and began my birthday celebration. Then, as if someone had carefully planned the scene, a sudden rain shower started outside. Perfect timing. There we were, sitting inside this beautiful restaurant, watching the rain fall over New York through the giant windows, drinking delicious wine, eating incredible food, and celebrating my birthday with my family. It felt less like dinner and more like a scene from a movie. The wine was wonderful, and every dish we ordered was delicious. The oysters were fresh and clean-tasting. The burrata was creamy, soft, and beautiful with the tomatoes. The warm bread arrived shiny with butter and was dangerously good--the kind of bread that makes you say, "I'm only having one," and then suddenly the basket is empty. The fish entrée was beautifully prepared, and the steak was exactly what I hoped for. It had a deeply seared, flavorful crust on the outside while staying tender and juicy inside. This was not the kind of steak you quietly eat. This was the kind of steak that makes everyone at the table stop talking for a moment. That silence was the review. Everything tasted carefully prepared, and the ingredients felt fresh and high quality. There was not one disappointing dish on the table. At the end of dinner, they brought out a lovely birthday dessert with strawberries, pink cream, a candle, and a "Happy Birthday" chocolate decoration. It was sweet, pretty, and the perfect ending to the evening. The beautiful interior, the sparkling wine, the city view, the sudden rain, the excellent food, and my family celebrating together made the entire night unforgettable. I went there expecting a nice birthday dinner. Instead, I received a full New York birthday movie scene--with steak. I would absolutely return the next time I visit New York. Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse is a wonderful choice for a birthday, anniversary, romantic dinner, or any occasion when an ordinary meal simply is not enough.
