We absolutely loved this place. The back yard seating is so cute and charming and welcoming. It felt very COVID safe masks etc as you are greeted by the sweet friendly staff and they will answer any questions you have but then you order and pay online by scanning a code with your phone. Its nice because if you want to order more food or drinks you don't have to wait for a server. There are different things on the menu than we have seen at traditional Indian places but there are lots of options for carnivores and vegans alike. Such an amazing addition to the neighborhood!! The restaurant is in a beautifully renovated, large victorian home. The staff was so inviting and gracious. They answered any and all of our questions with no judgement. I had the Frankies 615 and the Gongura Chicken. The frankies were amazing, they were like Indian tacos. We had chicken and lamb both were good, I preferred the texture of the chicken. They had a semi-sweet spice feel from the beginning to the end. Gongura chicken was such a nice relief of normal chicken plates at restaurants. The plate came with an amazing bread, lentils, and rice. More than enough food! We picked up dinner for takeout. We planned ahead as we had been told that takeout can take a while to prepare. The food was plentiful and flavor for a reasonable price with plenty of extra samber and chutneys. We ordered naan and dosa as well as some rice and curry choices. I'm really wondering if the stellar reviews are paid for because this place is a mess. There is no server assigned to you. You have to order your food through the app. There is no server assigned to you so the service is non-existent. No one came by to refill our drinks. One member of our party didn't get food until the rest of the party had already finished their meals. Also, the menu is tricky. If you order the paper dosa, it won't come with potatoes. If you order the family size masala dosa, they say it can feed 4 but they only bring you bowls and plates for 2 people instead of 4. Do better and bring 4 plates and bowls out with enough food for 4 people. They have a robot running some of the food. I'm all for using technology as needed but this restaurant is missing the service part of restaurant service. The worst part is that I was still hungry after eating here. What a mess! The only positives about the place is that some members of my party liked their food. But as we know, good service can save a bad meal but good food cannot save bad service. read more

Wow. Where do I begin. This place. 615 Chutney just blew my mind. My group of 8 were able to call in at reserve a table for 8pm an hour in advance on a Friday night!! We walked in to this little unassuming strip mall storefront and were met with live music and smiles. We were seated immediately and used the QR code to check out the menu and place our orders! We were given a coupon in the app for $10 off our order! Score! A robot brought our food out. Let that sink in. A ROBOT.... brought our food to our table.... with a smile. Ok, what?! I'm still processing that. It was really cool. We ordered butter chicken, tikka misala, kurma, biryani, the wings, and loads of dossa and parotta with chutnies (dipping sauces). We have eaten at almost every Indian restaurant in Middle Tennessee and 615 Chutney is as good or better than all of them. The heat levels are wonderful and accurate. I ordered "Native" heat on my lamb Kurma. It was really spicy and the flavors were still wonderful and not overpowered by the heat. The Parotta bread that it came with is unlike any other Indian bread I've ever had and it will make you smack someone. The owner came to our table to see how we liked everything and proceeded to enlighten us on some of the differences between Southern Indian cuisine versus Northern Indian. It was fascinating. He was very passionate about his ingredients and unique dishes. We spent about $140 on our whole table and we had as much to take home as we were able to eat there. We will be coming back and bringing our friends! This is what it is all about folks. The owner started from a food truck in 2018 and he has created an experience that is a true culinary cultural blessing to the Nashville Community. Go get some Biryani for yourself. The food is very good and seemingly traditional Indian. The owner once told us he goes to India every year for recipes and to make sure his recipes are traditional. However, if you are used to American versions of Indian food, you will be disappointed. The recipes are different than most Indian restaurants. We don't like that they push you to order and pay online (the menu is online). However, if you grumble enough, they will grudgingly give you a paper menu. Getting the food is a little slow, but we are not in a hurry, so no big deal to us. We hope slow means good. We've eaten here 3 times in the last couple weeks (2 dinners and 1 brunch buffet). We enjoyed our dinners - The fish appetizer, chicken tikka masala and and chutneyville dosa are all delicious. But we split on the Fri/Sat/Sun brunch buffet. Hubby enjoyed the meat dishes and I enjoyed the sambar, but I found the other vegetarian dishes way too bland. You could serve yogurt, potato, cashew cream or similar on the side for those wanting to turn down the spice and heat, but when the flavor is too mild to start with -?Maybe it was just the dishes served this week. We'll give the buffet another try another day since featured dishes change and we've enjoyed our dinner dishes so well. Terrible food, terrible service and to pay tip before having your meal is an insult. It's an even bigger insult when someone explains to a South Indian, that dosas are from South India?! Loved this place! Firstly, the place was very accommodating to COVID restrictions with food space between tables. Secondly, the server was absolutely great! We were new so we didn't know what to get and she just guided us through based on what we said we liked and didn't like. No one felt left out. The food came out with perfect timing. So good we went two nights in a row. My husband and I flew into Nashville for work and needed to catch a late dinner. Thanks to Yelp we found this little slice of heaven. We are vegan, so it's often hard to find food. Indian food always hits the spot for us. I love all the options! The menu is huge! They have some of the more typical Indian dishes but also a large variety of dishes I've never seen before. I went simple and got the dahl. Honestly, the best I've ever had. Went here specifically because I was in the mood for a dosa. This one didn't disappoint. Super tasty filling! But I was even more impressed with the bread! We got the roti and the malabar parotta. O. M. G. The parotta is this layered bread which is similar to a really thick tortilla. It was absolutely delicious. Also I always order vegetable samosa every time I eat at an Indian restaurant. I've literally had thousands of them but the ones at 615 Chutney were awesome! Super light and crispy pastry outside and incredibly well seasoned potatoes/peas inside. So good!! This was the best Indian restaurant I've been to! The man Nirob who came to serve us was incredibly friendly in helping us understand the menu and get what we really wanted. They have the popular classics like butter chicken, biryani, and tikka masala, but they also have tons more South Indian dishes that are so worth trying!!! We got vegetable samosas, butter chicken, chicken saag (chicken in a delish spinach sauce), chutneyville sambar (lentils, veggies in a sauce), and the chicken chettinad. Food's good (though too salty for our party), and somewhat unusual compared to dozens of other Indian restaurants I have been to all over the world. Depending on your taste and how adventurous you are, arguably their food is better than the typical Indian. But, there are a few issues I have seen the times I have been there: 1) They don't bring everyone's food at the table at the same time, or close to it, in our case delays between different people's dishes arriving at the table was too long for our group to be able to eat together. This is not a wait staff issue as the wait staff are all pleasant, professional, and fast. Besides, they were not too busy when I was there. I think the bottleneck is in the kitchen. It is probably not managed efficiently / well and doesn't have the necessary bandwidth to serve customers. 2) The menus are hard to read (small font, poor color choice -- e.g., top of the Sunday menu was almost black on black -- and lacking enough English description of the dishes to give the customer a general idea of what the dishes are! Lastly, Sunday menu is totally different from other days'. That was a surprise to us when we went there on a Sunday expecting to eat what we had eaten and liked the previous time. This spot has gone through some changes (and, hands) since it was Rumours. I'm hoping that the 615 Chutney concept sticks. Prior to this iteration, the space housed an Indian/Italian concept that was interesting, if not entirely successful. I think the spin that 615 Chutney puts on Indian fare is different enough without being too far off in left field to sustain an audience. First things, this is southern Indian fare. Dosas. Lentils. Stuff like that. I was a little saddened to find out that dosas are a part of their Sunday setup and not usually available throughout the week. When I mentioned that I needed to eat gluten-free, however, the owner/manager obliged me a dosa with my meal. Not only was I appreciative, my stomach was thankful, as well. The dosa was fantastic. Granted, there aren't a ton of south Indian restaurants in Nashville but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find better dosa in the 615. The menu is apportioned for sampling and sharing. GF and veg/v dishes are clearly labeled. Plus, everyone is extremely nice. If you have any questions, ask and the staff will take expert care of you. Main courses come with bread and rice are are filling... but you *have* to get an appetizer to start. It's a rule. We settled on the paneer kebab and the tawa macchi. Both were fantastic. The paneer was served with an electric green chutney that I wanted to slather on everything. The tawa macchi was a delicately-prepared but deftly-seasoned catfish dish. Both dishes had me licking my lips. My spice tolerance is pretty high but I would say both dishes were more savory/seasoned than spicy/hot. My friend got the lentils for her main course. I chose the irachi (lamb in coconut cream). Both were divine. Again, both dishes were packed with flavor and tended to by a hand that was not afraid of seasoning. Karen is not in the kitchen. The only misses of the evening came in the form of beverages. My cab wasn't memorable and the pour was mighty weak (thankfully, the price wasn't outrageous). My friend wanted a chai but at 7 on a Thursday, they weren't serving any. One set of puppy-dog eyes later and she had her tea (which she really enjoyed) but I would count that as a one-off, rather than something to bank on. East End isn't a neighborhood brimming with ethnic eats. I hope people catch on to what 615 Chutney is serving up because they're filling a hole that gets wider by the season. Pair that with nice people in a comfortable setting (love that house) and you have a winning combo. Don't let this concept disappear back to the truck. Not just my favorite Indian restaurant in Nashville, but my favorite restaurant overall. You will find items on the menu here that you won't find anywhere else in town, like the South Indian Railway Cutlets, the malaway parotta bread and the amazing Uthappams. We usually start with the vegetable pakoras or railway cutlets and follow up with uthappams. My wife gets the onion and I usually get the lamb kheema, but I love them both. The uthappams come with 3 chutneys and a side of Sambar. But what really makes this place special is the owner, Niroop, and his amazing staff. They always make you feel welcome and treat you like family. I just can't say enough good things about them. They serve beer, but not wine or liquor, but there is a liquor store right next door, so we usually grab a bottle of wine in the way in. It's a great way to save a few bucks. read more

The service was also nice and prompt and welcoming. Inside was clean as well as the bathrooms. They were burning rose musk incense, so it also smelled lovely inside. Restaurant offerings are pretty slim in the Bellevue area of Nashville, so I was particularly pleased to find this place. Great food, super friendly staff and owner, and a variety of live music almost every night. There is a buffet on the weekend as well. I feel sad to write this review but I don't want anyone to have the experience we had tonight. We are a family of four. At 6:27 I placed an online order for four entrees, two orders of rice, and three desserts. Upon ordering I got a message saying it would be 75-85 minutes, and that was fine with us. At 7:43 I received a text that our order was ready. My husband left immediately to pick up the food. He was there for an hour. He said it was chaos inside the restaurant. People that had ordered two hours earlier had left without food. He continued to wait only because our meal was more than $140 and they said our order could not be canceled. When he arrived home I began to unpack the food. We were given about 75% of what we ordered. I have celiac and cannot eat gluten so I was most disappointed that my order of gluten free dosa had not been included. They had however included the three orders of gluten-filled bread (parotta) that came with the other three meals. There was zero percent chance of either of us driving back to the restaurant and requesting the missing food. But for $140, it was such a disappointment. We could have ordered from Chauhan for less money and had it delivered in a shorter amount of time, but we wanted to support the local restaurant. The food we did get home with was good. Actually it was great. But not worth the miserable customer service experience. We won't do it again. And if you order from them- just know that when you get a text saying your order is ready, it means nothing. It is an automated system that means nothing to them. When you arrive to pick it up there will be a chaotic scene in the restaurant, and every few minutes they will tell you it's "almost ready" and "you are next" to keep you waiting. read more
