I've been to 7 bamboo dozens of times throughout the years. It's the closest I've even been to world peace. You have people of every race, gender, creed, etc just trying to belt their lungs out on the stage. It's where everyone can be the weirdest version of themselves and no one cares. I do miss the days when rapper Johnny and the guy that brought his own bongos would be out, but I'm sure there will be a new generation of those folks soon. The bartenders are mostly ok but the drinks are kind of inconsistent (a friend and I ordered the same drink and they were totally different). They do check id but it's annoying because I'm clearly a much older demographic lol. They don't serve food (I know they did at one point in time, but idk why they don't anymore). read more

It's a great place to have a fun place to be silly in costume and wigs, and sing your heart out with lots of encouragement from the crowd. Our group of 6 arrived at 8PM to get on the virtual queue early. Wait was about 30-45 min even that early in the night. There were many regulars there ready to sing already. We were fine with waiting and enjoyed a round of drinks. Getting a table at that time was easy but within a couple hours, the place was crowded. The first time I went to 7 Bamboo was many years ago when my roomie at the time took me with her and her side man. Lol... that must have been like 2012, if I remember correctly. Wow.. 13 years ago?! My friend mentioned that she wants to go karaoke so I remember this place so I suggested that we go here. There's no cover charge so that's good. Many of the seating were reserved. My friend happen to nab a table once a couple left. I downloaded the app to sign up to join the karaoke list. It only shows up to 10 on the list so we had no idea where we were on that list. We got a some drinks. She got a Singapore Sling while I got the We Be Jammin. Mine was tasty, but strong. Lol... I definitely felt giddy after drinking that one. We got tired of waiting so we ended up going elsewhere. By the time, we left the place, then we were finally on the 10th spot. Lol... I think if you want to sing, you have to sign very early when they open. Or maybe the regulars already signed up way beforehand? That's what my friend thinks... that they signed up from their home. Got here around 7:30pm on a Saturday, was a bit slow in the beginning but it eventually picked up. Had a great time, I like the way they do song reservations through an app, had an awful experience at a different karaoke bar place so this was a pleasant experience. I have nothing but positive things to say about this karaoke bar located in the heart of Japantown on Jackson street. The vibes here are super positive! It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or expert singer, the crowd here embraces you with open arms! This is a small venue and space fills up rather quickly. Indoors can be a bit stuffy, but manageable. The only reason for the four stars are because the bar is open limited days of the week and I feel like the bar staff needs help managing the demand of the clientele. This is one of my favorite nightlife spots in SJ. It's a small venue, so even though it's slightly slower post-COVID era, it still fills up later at night, especially on weekends. I prefer this type of karaoke, rather than individual rooms. It's just so much funner, and more interactive, everyone is always in good spirits, singing out loud to the music, which is easy since there are plenty of screens all around the walls to follow the lyrics. Everyone's a good sport, no matter who's on stage.. there are some great vocals... but even the bad singers are appreciated.. okay, i see people trying to hold in their laughs sometimes when the bad ones sing.. but it's still fun (and funny)! Even the workers take the stage sometimes (bartenders/KJ), which is cool, except if you're waiting for a drink and there's no one to serve you at the bar. The bartender last Saturday was cool (Brian), he was working hard and was very personable.. and most importantly, he made us some good drinks! There are QR codes at the bar and tables to order food (delivered from a different venue) and to view the song list and sign up to get in line to sing... but you don't have to sing on stage to have the best time ever! And the music is so diverse and random-- hip hop, rnb, rap, country, rock, oldies, and even Disney songs-- so you'll get to enjoy all kinds of tunes, while sippin on your favorite drinks and enjoying good company or making new friends. They seem to have blocked off some of the street out front during COVID for outdoor seating, but I didn't see anyone using that area at night (probably since the karaoke is indoors, but with very limited seating and tables inside). There was still a lot of free street parking all around the area. Pre-COVID, they did check ID's on weekends, but they didn't check this past Saturday when I visited (though I came early, before 9pm)... there is no cover charge to enter. 7 Bamboo is perfect for date nights, a chill night out with friends, or even just going solo. Great place! Love the vibes here; the staff is really nice and even though it's a small place, they allow their patrons to re-enter after taking a nice breather outside. OK the bartenders Rina and her crew are awesome at hidden gem /cozy, karaoke, full bar, and they will always assist you and direct you in the right place every time you wanna sing a song. It's one of the only karaoke bars in Southbay /Silicon Valley. Haven't been at this bar in over a year and it was shitty last time because a young bouncer accused of us using the restroom outside in the back (check your fucking cameras). Decided to stop by again and should have known it was a bad idea. The bouncers here are some of most insecure pieces of inbred shit. Bullshit rules are enforced. You can be denied entry or kicked out for not giving your motorcycle helmets to them to hold. Bouncer couldn't express if liability and accountability is included if he held the helmet. Came here for my bday. Brian, the bartender, was amazing. He got all of our drinks quickly and with an amazing attitude. Ardae, the bouncer, was very polite and made us feel welcome. The KJs, chelsea and AJ got all of our songs in in a timely manner and they were very accommodating when we had to make adjustments. Honestly I'm sure your lounge is fine. But the DJ Albano treated my large group like absolute trash. We told him that our group was there for a bachelorette and not even there for any kind of special treatment, just wanting to get in the list, and he said we'd have to buy him drinks to get there and that we were basically trash. We were a large group spending a lot of money on drinks already. My friend I had informed him would blow everyone's minds and hold the crowd there and he blew us off and told us basically to kick rocks. This man is not an asset to you. I promise.
