Came in looking for a good michelada very disappointed. Although the bean dip was good. Didn't try the food after seeing our drinks.

My son and I used to come here all the time when it was Rosita's and we were not happy when it closed down so we were eager to try it when we found out that it had changed hands. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly and immediately took our drink order. We were impressed right away when, along with the traditional chips and salsa, they brought out a warm bean dip. The salsa, though not as spicy as I like it, tasted freshly made and the chips were warm. The food came out in very good time and was plated very nicely. The food was hot and everything tasted wonderful. We just got basic combo plates this first time, enchiladas for me and burritos for my son, and it was great but now that we know they are so good I think I'd like to try some of their wide selection of seafood. They also do breakfast all day. My son is dying to try their huevos con chorizo. read more

Super great food. I have been to this restaurant 3 times and the food and service have been consistently superb. I happen to come in on a Thursday and they had fish tacos as their special, they were great, i would recommend them if you enjoy a good fish taco. There are quite a few Mexican restaurants in the Oakley/Brentwood area and if you haven't tried 7 Mares Grill I highly recommend them. I've been there several times ranging from when they were super busy to when the place was almost empty. Each time I found the service was excellent, the food was good and their prices are reasonable. There are quite a few other local restaurants that have good reasonably priced Mexican food, however, the thing that really sets 7 Mares Grill apart from the rest are the friendly, courteous waitresses. From the first time I set foot in their restaurant they have treated me like I was their favorite customer. They really make eating here an enjoyable experience. If your looking for some good Mexican food served to you by a friendly, attentive waitress then you owe it to yourself to give this restaurant a try. read more

I give it 5 stars. Because the food is great. Service is slow. But, now I understand why. The food is cooked when you order. That means that it is fresh. The staff are very good. I have to give 1 star on service alone because I didn't stay to eat. We showed up and every single table was dirty. I politely asked for a table for two and pointed out all tables were dirty and asked if they could clean one. The waitress looked at me as if I asked her to do a headstand and gave me the dirtiest of looks. I wasn't even about to stay after that. Wow! The owners should be ashamed of their staff's behavior and if that woman was the owner then shame on her because I'll never be back and will consistently tell everyone about my bad experience. read more

This was the worst experience I have had for a Mexican restaurant. I use to come here all the time to get good Mexican food but today I was just so disappointed. The food has dramatically changed since I first went here a few years ago. I can tell that they have decided to cheapen the quality of their food to save money. I spent over 50 dollars worth of food to get 2 small containers of salsa with my 5 burritos. I will never come back here for Mexican food. Have been going here for years and they just lost a long term customer. I don't know what is wrong with the new staff but they are rude and typically make mistakes with my orders. Tonight was the last straw, I called to place a takeout order and the woman who answered asked me to please hold. I could hear them working in the background and then after holding for 10 minutes she hung up the phone on me. When I called back she then denied hanging up the phone and acted rudely. Pretty disappointed how far the service has deteriorated. Looking for a new local restaurant to support!! read more

The best! Mexican food is not my type of food but their burritos are so good! I always gotten their super burrito and for $7 it was well worth it. It's huge, it's delicious and packed with flavor. Way better than La Costa in my opinion, and their horchata is really good. The only downfall is that it's a very small resturant and hard to find. I had to circle around 3 times to find it. Food was good, but based on the waitress we had at our table I will not be returning to this restaurant. We asked for a refill on the bean dip and she said they were out, I asked for no sauce on my tacos and I had sauce all over my tacos. Almost every item we came to the restaurant to try based on the yelp reviews, they no longer offered. It really was a disappointment. Went here with hubby a 2 times prior and the food was really good, service was great. I decided to take my mom out to eat and have her try this place I really liked. We got my son a fountain drink and we ordered 2 things of chicken fajitas. The chicken had no flavor and was tough. The chips tasted like store bought chips. We got 2 baskets of chips the whole meal and we asked for a refill of my sons soda and my mom thought it was "coke" but it was Pepsi she brought out a bottle coke. Immediately I told them that it was a mistake we wanted the fountain drink they said it was okay mistakes Happen. The waitress never refilled our drinks and acted like she didn't really want to help us. We got the check and she charged $4 for a second basket of chips without even letting us know we were going to pay extra for one more basket of chips. The charged $4 for the coke of her mistake. If she would've kept our drinks full the mistake wouldn't have happened. I will never be back. Horrible way to treat customers. read more

Terrible service. This is the second time we have come in on a weekday and had service like this. We sat for almost 20 min waiting to be greeted, waited 30 min for food, and still do not have the water we ordered. Food came out incorrect so after an hour we still do not have our food, and just received our water. I do not recommend coming here. The food quality had gone down too. They appear to be understaffed which is critically killing their customers experience. Steer clear for now. We used to love this place but we will not be back for a while. I ordered the birria which came with rice, beans and a few tortillas. When my food arrived I was very dissatisfied with the birria. It was all fat! There was absolutely no meat on it. I had no other option but to leave it to the side. I did eat my rice and beans which was okay except my birria; which was the star of the dish. I probably wouldn't be coming again anytime soon. Also our waitress was terrible! We came on a day that only had 3 other tables and it took about 20 minutes to hand us our drinks and never came back to ask us for refills. read more

Yikes. First trip here and not impressed. When I showed up, the food wasn't ready. That isn't a problem at all. I love getting the food as fresh as possible so it is still good by the time I get home. In this case, home is just 3 minutes away so all should be good, right? Well.. we get home and one of the burritos was comically cold. It was like it was just pulled out of a refrigerator. Which is also really odd considering their menu actually points out that they "cook it after you order it". On top of that, there were some clear instructions given to and repeated by the woman who took the order. I think you've probably guessed... There were multiple errors. Not to mention that we got that was hot was sub-par at best. Idk if I am more disappointed about wasting my money or that the food from the closest Mexican restaurant to my house is so bad. I would avoid this place. There are better spots in Oakley and Brentwood. read more

Went to try the shrimp burrito (which i heard was very good). It tasted good and there was a fair amount of shrimp but it had a lot of beans and it was surely not worth $14.00 ($16.00 with tip / take out). Not sure if i will return, I enjoy La Costa's burritos much more. read more

Too tired to cook, the curiosity of this local establishment finally wore us down so we tried it on Taco Tuesday of all days. Arrived at 8:25, they close at 9. The place was fairly empty so we took a seat and ordered the tacos as appetizers. Steak tacos with the fixins. Tacos were pretty decent and a bit spicy. Definitely worth a buck apiece. The wife opted for the crunchy taco plate, I went all in with the chicken enchilada verde plate. The food arrived fairly quickly. And it was fairly good. We both enjoyed our choices. Lots of chicken in the enchiladas. Beans and rice were good too. Ordered a Diet Coke but they are a Pepsi restaurant these days, so the menus should be updated. As for the decor, it is not exactly a rose garden. Kind of a humble little place with wall decor that trends toward beer signs and the kind of sea nicknacks you might find at a hobby lobby. All of the decor was hung crookedly, and so was the bill when it arrived at the end of the night. Crooked that is. I am more of a word person than a mathlete but I could see that the sum on the check was off by approximately 9 dollars. Nine dollars! Yes, nine dollars. We pointed out the mistake and they sheepishly took responsibility for the error and then corrected it. It could have been an honest mistake, but my advice is to check your bill before you turn over your hard earned dollars. Lastly, I didn't see a boat or fleet of fisherman anywhere near the place which made me wonder why the place bills itself as a Mexican seafood place. If the bar is not set too high you can make this place work for you. I will keep looking for another place. An honest place. read more
