I got bossam the first time from another Korean restaurant couple of days ago and I've been obsessed with this dish, so I decided to try out bossam from different restaurants. The pork belly itself was really fatty, like I love fatty pork belly but this is too much, and if I said something is too fat, most people can't eat it. Some pieces are barely edible as it's basically all fat. The bossam I got from the other restaurant was too lean tho. And I can get rid of some fat on the meat pieces by reheating them in the microwave and cooked the excess amount of fat out, so I guess I would still prefer this, as the meat pieces are super tender and moist dur to the high fat content. There are 3 sauces it comes with: a sweet and spicy chili sauce (tasted just like Thai sweet chili sauce), a sauce with Korean fermented salted shrimp, and a Korean fermented bean paste sauce. The bean paste sauce was the best one, but it's not the best I've ever had. I also love the salted shrimp I just wish it's not soaked in water, I like how salty they are originally. The sweet and spicy shredded radishes kimchi and pickled radish slices are both too sweet in my opinion. I wish at least one of them is sour since sourness can cancel out the greasiness of the pork belly slices. The amount of lettuce it comes with was too little, I ended up buying a whole head of lettuce from groceries just to eat with the rest of the meat. I also got a head of garlic to go with it. The bossam i got from the other restaurant comes with green chili pepper slices and garlic slices which I like a lot. Generally I will definitely order this again and I'm also looking forward to try out different dishes on their menu in the future. read more

The hits were: the cabbage kimchi as part of the banchan was amazing; it was super flavorful, sweet, savory and also deliciously spicy. Where was the signature slightly-sweet and savory bulgogi flavor? Another big miss was the sliced fish cake as part of the banchan; it was dry and should've come with a bit of sauce. Lots of vegetables mixed in and it was a huge portion! Since that meal would have lacked protein, I also got a side of grilled mackerel. It was a standard, salted Korean grilled mackerel - fatty, salty, and delicious! The order came with a free side salad which was more like a quarter cup of dressing and a couple leaves of spring mix. I'll give it to 707 for being one of the better Korean spots in SF. However, compared to LA and NYC, it's definitely lacking, hence the three stars. I came in with a few friends on a weekday night around 6:30pm and was seated immediately. We ordered the kimchi pancake to share, and I ordered the spicy beef soondubu for myself. Honestly, the kimchi pancake was better than my main course. It's kind of rare for the appetizer to be better, but the tofu soup really didn't taste amazing. I mean, it was definitely edible and filled me up, but the quality and flavors just weren't there. The spice they used was too flaky, leaving a weird texture in my mouth. The beef wasn't that tender, and I ended up not eating most of it which was the expensive part! It also came out piping hot! The side dishes were decent though. Banchan is one of my favorite aspects of going to a Korean restaurant, so at least that was nice. As I mentioned earlier, the kimchi pancake was also tasty. Great spot for Korean food in the city. I came for dine-in, and I felt like the tables were well spaced and patrons were respectful of wearing masks when not eating/drinking. I really enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant, there's a wall with k-pop music videos being projected and lots of cute neon signs. It felt like everyone was there to have a good time and enjoyable meal. My friend and I started the meal with a lychee soju cocktail, which had a nice and slushy consistency. I really liked how there was real lychee in the drink, which made it really refreshing since the flavors weren't artificial. For food, we ordered the creamy tteok bok ki, the seafood pancake, and the kimchi tofu soup. The cream sauce for the tteok bok ki reminded me of carbonara, and it was pretty rich and heavy, but delicious. The portion size was huge and the bacon complimented the sauce really well. The seafood pancake was also really good; there were a lot of scallions in it, and the texture of the pancake was nice and crispy. I could tell the seafood inside was fresh, it had a nice and chewy texture. My favorite was definitely the tofu soup, it had a nice spice level and was rich and full of flavor. I've had tofu soup that tastes watery, but the soup here was great. Being able to eat tofu soup in the stone bowl in person made me so happy! And the banchan were also super tasty. Delicious food! Parking can be hard to find obviously, but the food is so worth it. My table ordered the kimchi fried rice, cream tteokbokki, chicken gizzards (tasted like bulgogi), fries, calamari, and fried chicken. Everything was so delish and spot on- nothing was missed here. There's great service as well, their banchan is tasty and they provide enough for a large table. The only downside was that the wait was about an hour. It's nothing to complain about but since they also sell alcohol, there was a group that stayed for maybe 2/3 hours just drinking, chatting, and being loud. Luckily, the ambiance is on the noisier side and the music makes up for it so its not a headache, but expect a wait for your party if you are especially just so hungry. For sure, order the kimchi fried rice. One of the better/best beef kimchi fried rices I've had. It comes with ddamuji (sweet pickled radish) and a side salad. read more

707 is my favorite Korean restaurant in the Nob Hill area. Every time I'm here is a good time - I can always expect yummy food and quality service here! As I'm a big soup lover, I especially love the stews here that serve at least 2 people and come over a gas burner. They used to be ~$25 (definitely a steal) but have recently increased to ~$35 (still worth it IMO). One's I've tried: - Spicy pork neck bone: 5/5 My favorite! Full of tender fall off the bone pork meat, potato, and loads of spices - Army stew: 4/5 Delicious but not the healthiest! A guilty pleasure filled with ramen, sausage, and spam - Kimchi beef dumpling: 4/5 Also delicious but I feel like I could make it at home (with my constant supply of kimchi and dumplings) - Bulgogi: 3/5 A bit too sweet than my liking, just because bulgogi meat is sweet I've had their fried chicken (9-10 pieces for $19) plenty of times - both the soy garlic and the spicy sweet flavors are great! Tip: you can order half and half of each flavor, though that isn't listed on the menu. This time I went I tried the spicy beef soup ($16) with shredded beef, egg, and glass noodles which was pretty good and decent portion size. I also got the kimchi fried rice with beef ($13), which came with a fried egg and small side salad. Unfortunately, I didn't like the rice much because it lacked kimchi flavor and the char and crispiness of a good fried rice. Rather, it tasted more like steamed kimchi rice and I wasn't a fan of the sweet bulgogi flavor paired with the kimchi flavor. The side salad with heavy ranch-like dressing also wasn't my favorite. 707 Sutter caught our eye when we were actually walking to a different location but this place looked so popular we knew we had to try it. It was 10pm and it was PACKED but it only took us 20minutes to be seated! When you first walk in you'll notice a huge projection on the right wall and they were playing kpop music videos the whole time. Such a great atmosphere and the music wasnt too loud so we were still able to talk to each other throughout our meal. I will say that for how busy it was, we still had excellent service. Water was already on the table for us before we even sat down! They even gave us complimentary corn tea because I asked if they had barley tea but they said they didn't. After about 10-15 minutes we were ready to order and we ordered a feast. Of course the complimentary side dishes (banchan) was brought right after we ordered and it came with stir fried baby anchovies, fish cakes, bean spouts, seaweed salad, cucumber kimchi, and Napa kimchi. I will say that the anchovies were a tad bit salty but super yummy if you eat it with the kimchi. My absolute favorite was the cucumber kimchi, so crunchy, refreshing, and flavorful. The dish they brought out was the pan fried dumplings and it came with a beansprout salad in the middle. It was perfectly spicy and the dumplings were cooked to perfection. Super crispy on the outside and the filling was so flavorful and juicy. Then came the steamed egg and the stir fried glass noodles (japchae). The steamed egg huge, so fluffy, seasoned to perfection, and hella steaming hot. Seriously kept burning my mouth on it even at the end of our meal lol. The flavor on the japchae could have been a bit better but still pretty good japchae! Our seafood pancake, galbi, and spicy cold noodles came out last and holy crap... worth the wait. That galbi just melted in my mouth. It was marinated & seasoned so well that every bite was full of flavor that you never want to leave your mouth. It was also cooked so well that it just fell off the bone and absolutely melted like butter. If that was the only thing we ordered I would have been so happy with just that on its own. The seafood pancake was kind of greasy for me and the sauce was a tad too salty but it was packed with squid and shrimp so definitely worth the price! Now, cold noodles (naengmyeon) is my absolute favorite Korean dish so I had pretty high expectations so I wouldn't take my review of the cold noodles too harshly. I usually order mul naengmyeon and not the bibim naengmyeon like I did here but I really wanted some super chewy noodles so I opted for the one without the broth. The noodles were kinda mushy unfortunately but the flavor of the sauce made up for it. I also mixed in some kimchi and ate it with the galbi and it was perfect after that. :) Definitely a super good late night spot if you're in the area! read more

It's a lot more spacious and less cramped. I guess since it's during COVID, not as much people dine in yet, but that was a plus for me since we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. Wow! My friend introduced me to this place and it's great. I came on a raining Saturday morning to eat here at 11:30am. I noticed most of my Yelper friends normally come here during the late night partying, but I came during lunch, so I was able to see everything crystal clear. Every food item we ordered was very tasty and good. The seafood pancake was big in my eyes and plump looking with a perfect circle and was crispiness on the bottom, the spicy tofu soup was again excellent, it was a little hot for my taste, but ordering rice bowl helped me out to balance the spice. My favorite was the glass noodles dish with Kimchi and pork mixed into it was simply delightful and delicious and I totally finished that up in heartbeat and left none to waste. Eh this place is kind of the epitome of Korean food in SF (below average to mediocre). We got the kal-guksu (wheat noodles, spicy chicken with cheese and yukgaejang (spicy beef soup). The kal-guksu was so bland, it felt like no salt was added. We had to ask for salt and pepper to add any flavor. The spicy chicken with cheese just tasted like gochujang. The spicy beef soup was the only dish that was decent. The banchan and kimchi also cut up in tiny pieces, which was quite odd. My girlfriend (who is Korean) thought it deserved 2 stars for the food but the service is solid and they're great for groups. I ordered the gamjatang and although I personally felt that it was missing something and wasn't spicy enough, it still hit the spot. Of course can't go wrong with the dolsot bibimbap. You'll have to ask for the gochujang. Dokbokki is made really well here as well as the fried chicken. I saw that they offered bossam so that's next on my list. This was a gem! It seems like everything closes pretty early due to covid. I believe they were open until 1am. We were headed to a different restaurant after a concert. Mind you, we are not from San Fran. Our hotel was near by so we tried to stay in the area since we decided to walk. While waiting at a red light we saw this place was still open and much closer to our room. It was late so obviously safety matters too. We walked in and took the last available table. It's not a large space but it also is not small enough to feel cramped. We honestly did not have high expectations because we had no idea what we were walking into. My goodness!
