This 85°C Bakery is located in the Westlake Lido Faire Plaza. It is a bigger plaza with plenty of parking, this location is always packed as well, especially on weekends and weeknights. I ordered my usual, the Sea Salt Jasmine Green Tea. It had a good creaminess and tea ratio, I usually do not get boba in this drink because it alters this drink taste for me. My usual breads/pastries are their Berrytale and Brioche. The Berrytale is tasty as usual, it has that nice sweetness to it. The Brioche was cold and dry on this particular visit, so that was a bummer when it is not fluffy and warm. read more

In Utah I would drive out to Salt Lake City China town to get a marble taro bun at an 85 bakery because it's a top Taiwanese treat for me. Today my family took me to the Newark location and I am seriously disappointed that a lot of the taro bun was all bread with the filling pushed to one side. Solid 3.5 stars, nothing that makes it truly spectacular or unique but its predictable and standardized no matter where you happen to get your 85C on. It's grown as a franchise and spread quickly for a reason, 85 follows the same methodology as Paris which is more "modern" and clean looking bakery than the standard boba/bakery place in Chinatown or places like Sheng Kee, they definitely are trying to appeal to younger gens and more diverse demographics. Every couple months we go to 99 ranch to get Shabu/hotpot ingredients and stop by here. We always get: -Sea-salt-foam coffee or tea, you can control how much sweet it is (50% sweet, 75% sweet). Super good, today we got warm coffee and tea after being close to frozen to death from 99 ranch. Coffee had a slight burnt taste today. -My wife loves their salted milk bread, she bought two and by the time we walked 1 minute back to the car, loaded groceries, her and my kids already killed one. -I love the cheese hotdog, less breading than other places, has cheese on top and some dried parsley garnish to deceive you into thinking its healthy. read more

Updating my review based on a recent visit to this location. I ordered a double creamy mango cheesecake ($34) from their online website at 8:30 AM for pick up at 11:00 AM. Upon arriving at 11:00 AM, I bought some pastries and got in line to pay. I asked the cashier if she could help me locate my paid preorder for the cake after ringing up my items or if I had to walk to the pick up line. She was inattentive and responded with "huh?" twice. I repeated myself twice and she gave me a rude look followed by "I can look for it after," which is absolutely fine working on one transaction at a time minus the unnecessary attitude. After paying for the pastries, she asked for my name. She walked in the back and came back to the cash register to rudely tell me that I didn't order anything. I pulled up my email confirmation to show her my preorder they I paid for. She then delegated the task of locating the cake to another male working in the back. He located my order after 5-10 minutes, but said they no longer sell this cheesecake and didn't know why their online website offered it. This baffled me as I feel the staff should have looked at incoming online orders and it the item was not available, then they could have called to notify the customer or sent an email with the refund. Secondly, their website should be up to date and if promotional or limited time offer items are no longer available, then they should let their store manager know. As this was for a birthday, I walked to the display to find another cake as a replacement. I wound up choosing two small rectangular cheesecakes which were $17 each (totaling to the original payment of $34). The same guy wasn't even paying attention and I had to let him know I was trying to make it easier by getting two items that amounted to be the same cost as my original payment. Alas, he slowly grabbed the cheesecakes, apologized, and again told me he didn't know why the website offered the promotional cheesecake... After frequenting here for so long, it was a very disappointing experience. :/ Minus -2 stars from my first review for this poor experience. *Added online order receipt which had the original double cheesecake. read more

We were here around a week ago and I recommend trying out the Hokkaido bread! The bread is not too sweet and neither is the cream which there is a good amount of it inside the bread. When you enter the bakery, you grab a tray to place the breads on. They don't provide tongs as the breads are individually wrapped, which I believe is better than before when they weren't wrapped as I have seen a couple people who would get a bread, place it on their tray and then walk away, but then change their minds and put it back. We also ordered a couple drinks here and although there weren't a lot of customers here, it did take some time to get our drinks out. read more

The best Hokkaido Cream Buns at this location!! Reliably full of delicious cream! We've tried these buns at Fremont and Cupertino locations, they were quite sad - mostly empty with just a small squeeze of cream. So if you were disappointed elsewhere, try them again here!! We only buy these buns at the Newark location now. Frank is addicted to the 85C guava pastry, which tasted the same across the 3 locations we tried. Disclaimer: I am writing this as a first time customer. Came in on a Saturday afternoon with my son and husband. There are two doorways; we entered on the right side double doors to the self-serve bread. They are beautifully arranged with very clean looking display cases. The baker came out various times announcing the fresh bread! We picked several pieces ranging from sweet to savory. I got 2 potato croquettes, one garlic loaf, one hot dog, one tuna and corn sandwich triangle, one egg tarte and one round chocolate bread dusted with powder sugar as well as one plain croissant shaped roll. My husband had an iced coffee and we ate a few pieces in the table area. Frances, the server who rang me up, looked like an annoyed teenager. She had just finished taking a cake order from a woman with her son when I had approached the counter. "I'm not ready for you yet!" said Frances, tilting her head and cocked it to the side sarcastically. I was just trying to put down the heavy tray after standing behind several patrons who had taken quite a while. Mango Brulee is full of fresh flavors. It has layers of sponge vanilla cake, mango moose and decorations was finished with raspberry. It is super yum! Feels fresh! Classic Tiramisu is layered with mascarpone cheese and coffee flavored lady fingers. It has a bit of bitter test because of strong coffee flavor. If you are a big coffee person, you will like it. In past I also tried Strawberry mousse cake, Strawberry chocolate Mousse slice, Black forest and mostly all their cakes and pastries. All were good. My personal favorite is Mango Brulee for sure. They carry pastries, cakes, boba, tea, coffee, and smoothies. I personally love bread so I go to 85 a lot! 4 stars for the desserts! Service was good at the counter. Place is nice and bright and lots of room to accommodate people. The con about my visit was when I asked for half and half for me Americano, the barista poured it into my drink and it came out lumpy. I looked astonished and asked if it was still good. I like going to this place. I always buy the garlic cheese and mango tale bread every time I come here. I like that the mango tale has a filling inside. It tastes just right and not too sweet in my opinion. The garlic cheese tastes like a regular garlic bread. I honestly like garlic cheese than the French garlic cheese 'cause the bread is softer. My new favorite is the coffee milk butter; this bread is so good. I like the taste of the coffee and butter together. The whole wheat mushroom was okay; nothing special about it honestly. The tiger boba latte was also good, but it was very sweet. I'm not sure if they can adjust the sweetness level, but they can definitely tone it down a bit. The staff was fine. The cashier was friendly, but the service was kinda slow. There was only one person making the drinks, so it took a while before I got my drink. A lot of people were also waiting for their drinks. Have been coming here regularly because I was recently starting to crave their sea salt mountain green tea for some reason. Pastries are mediocre as usual - 4/5 stars if you happen to get them right as they come out and they're still warm. I'm a fan of this bakery store until now. Every time I go to this store, I normally spend in the $50 range. We usually finished 1 or 2 boxes within 2 days. Yesterday, 8/8/2020 was no exception. We bought a box full of varieties. Amongst those, there was Spicy Cheese Dog. At the time I was about to have it, look what I found. There are long piece of hair(s) that wrapped around the edge of the cheese dog. I couldn't even pull it out. At that pointed I fell so disgusted and was about to throw up everything I had in earlier. One of the girls was rude when my mom asked her a simple question, and to top it off, my boyfriend nearly bit into a LITERAL FLY embedded into one of the strawberry rolls. Stopped by to buy a birthday cake last minute. Full cakes are 8" ( serves 8-10 people) and are $30. I got a mango brûlée cake because the cashier said it was their most popular one. I was not disappointed at all! Not too sweet, the cake was fluffy and moist, and the layer of mango mousse wasn't very heavy. Lots of fresh mangos on top and s couple of strawberries too! The girl who rang me up was so sweet and patient with me. They are unable to write on the cake but they have chocolate signs that say " happy birthday". She gave me one of those and also grabbed me some candles too ! Overall, I was really happy with the cake. Despite it being late in the evening (5-6pm) the cake was still fresh and tasty ! As solid as 85C Bakery can get. I'm glad we have this 85 as an option nearby, and I'm very thankful it's always stocked up with all their breads, so you'll have plenty to choose from. Drinks can sometimes take longer to come out, but they still taste great. The bread is always nice and fresh. As of March 2022, the store is in construction right now so there might be a little dust kicking around. But all of the bread is now individually wrapped because of covid, so it wasn't too much of an issue to me. My favorites are always the ham and cheese, pork floss bun, cocoa buns, and sea salt coffee. read more

Review #276 - 2019 Updated on Wednesday, October 9th I called to speak to Tiffany regarding the strands of hair I found in my bread and she was extremely apologetic regarding the situation. She asked me to come back in & fill out a customer complaint form so she could officially submit it to headquarters. I very much appreciated the fact that she took my complaint seriously & went out of her way to try & make things right. I drove in to give her the bread so she could submit it with her form as well. She refunded me for the bread and then offered me a voucher for one free bread and a free drink.
