This small neighborhood grocery store has a decent variety and selection of produce, dry goods, spices/seasonings, and a very decent selection of live seafood tanks filled with fish, crawfish, crabs, clams and more. They even have a free crab cleaning/prep service (where they quarter or halve your crab purchase for you) and a fish prep/filet and frying station. Located in the middle of one of the many suburban neighborhoods of San Leandro in a shopping plaza with a few other shops. They also have a hot Chinese BBQ shop right next to the main grocery store that sells BBQ/roast pork, roast duck, and chicken.

Went next door for dinner, Pho Ga 88. So I decided to check this place out. Quality/Quantity - My wife bought some fruits and noodles. Discovered some new vermicelli noodles, the same brand that we buy our rice paper in, but these noodles were rectangular and flat. So I'm going to give it a try. Atmosphere - Small local business. Fairly neat and organized. Seemed to have all the departments. Produce and seafood look the freshest. Small parking lot, be safe. I parked at the furthest spot to protect both my car and me, lol. Service - Self service. Nice lady checked us out. Price - $3, inexpensive if you ask me. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2014.

I come here mostly for vegetables and fresh seafood!! The seafood is as fresh as you can get, cause they have fish tanks with live fish here!! Now, watching them kill the live fish can be a bit brutal at times, and that just is what it is... This market is small, stuff everywhere, and they have a lot of stuff here. They also have a meat market, frozen foods, canned goods, pots and pans, just lots of stuff! This place is popular, it's almost always busy when I come here. Parking here is a hassle big time, so I usually park across the street most of the time. That's one of the downsides here. I've never had any issues here, but I have seen a few dust ups, maybe that's just a sign of the times. This is a good Asian market!!!

My mom bought these lychees (2.16 lb at $2.59/lb) this afternoon at 16:44. We just opened up the bag and saw that there are white fuzzy molding spots in all the fruit. Your produce is not fresh yet you continue to sell them on the shelves. Perhaps your store needs a visit from the inspectors.

My moms went after work to pick up some ribs to marinate for me. The butcher gave her this bag. She did not want it because there were no meat on 50%! It was ALL BONES. they said they can't do anything because they are closing and register close but if she brings it back next morning they will take care of it. THEY DID NOT they said there's nothing they can do. I tried calling the store BOTH numbers from the receipt and Yelp and no one is answering. This whole bag costed $76! For bones?! Unacceptable.

Wow, what a cute neighborhood market! For a moment I felt like I was visiting some country in South East Asia, because of the smell of all the fresh fruits and veggies offered outside and throughout the store!...Instead, I'm in a small, local Asian market within a quiet neighbor in San Leandro! Thinking 'bout cooking up some yummy Asian cuisine?! This place has it all. From fresh veggies, to fresh cut meats, a ton of powdered spices, and bottled cooking items. We stopped in for a short and sweet visit 'cuz my mum needed some banana leaves and powdered sugar to make a special Filipino dessert. The cashiers don't talk much, but they check you out fast! Nice! Cool, local grocery spot for a lot of items!

Parking can be hard to find especially since it is located in a busy area but once you find a spot it takes less than 15mins to pick and choose your food. I came here a bit late so the many options were already sold out but was able to buy whatever that was left. Good selection from onigiri, musubi, to sashimi platters. I got a couple of rolls but the California roll is a bit pricy compared to other stores. Usually Cali rolls are about half the cost of the regular sushi rolls like cherry blossoms. Overall quality is great, price is reasonable. I loved the mango salmon. Def will be back!

There aren't many Japanese markets in the East Bay, so finding one compared to the markets in San Jose was a blessing. The workers were friendly as well. The shop was small but well maintained. The onigiri tasted even fresher than the ones I've had from Mitsuwa and Nijiya. They were generous with the fillings. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and quite affordable too. I had a nice drink to go with my snack and it was refreshing! I'm quite impressed with this grocery and will be back when I am visiting Castro Valley.

[From the web] "A Denver steak, also known as Zabuton, is a relatively new, well-marbled, and tender cut of beef from the chuck primal section under the shoulder blade. It comes from the serratus ventralis muscle and is prized for its rich flavor and buttery texture, similar to a ribeye, despite being from a traditionally tougher area of the cow. It is best cooked using high-heat searing methods to fully develop its flavor and tenderize it. After cooking it, it wasn't as tender as we had hoped. He said you need to braise it. D'oh! Many of them seem to be doing the bare minimum -- not only slow, but also lacking basic customer service skills. I came in on May 27 around 6:30 PM to have shrimp weighed, then asked for beef from the same fresh section. The older woman assisting me completely walked away instead of helping. As she was leaving, she said, "That's a different department, go ask them," even though the beef was literally in the same section as the seafood. When I told her there was no one else working in that area except her, she ignored me and kept walking away. Very rude and unhelpful behavior. Seafood City, please pay closer attention to the employees working in the fresh seafood/meat section. Customer service matters. If employees cannot keep up with the demands of a busy environment, management should address it appropriately. The woman assisting that evening was dismissive, rude, and made the experience very unpleasant.

Whoa I had driven down this road many times but totally missed glances over here. Maybe I looked…read moreonce but thought it wasn't for the public. You see US Foods is one of the big wholesale food distributers that restaurants big and small use. They will deliver big loads of goods whether food or supplies right to the restaurant, usually on pay terms so no cash is handled. And for busy restaurants this is a must, as they constantly need raw goods coming in weekly if not daily. This is the first time I saw a 'US Foods' store. I think they took over something else. But it is a big store/space where almost everything is in bulk and/or wholesale form. For the home cook there is really nothing here that would fit their needs/kitchen unless you like to buy in bulk. 20 - 50 pound bags of beans, sugar or flour is usually just too much for an average Joe to carry to the car, let alone store in a home pantry. But if you like to entertain/cook for a large group like a big birthday, a bbq outing or big holiday get-togethers, then this place may serve you a purpose. I browsed one day and got a good feel for the place and here are my observations. If you go into the fresh produce area or the meat/dairy areas, you will have to go into a refrigerated room. The whole room is about 35 degrees so if you go in there in shorts and/or a t-shirt, then you will not be able to stay in there for too long. Produce not really extensive but you will be able to find some basics. Some things are in cases/big bags but not everything. Actually lots of things in smaller packaging like 2-3 pounds which is doable for a home fridge/usage. I'd say the offerings here are somewhat similar to what you could get at Costco. Meats are a mixed bag. Lots of processed meats like deli meat in whole form. Lots of cheese too but much too bulky for a home fridge. There are pork and beef but all in big/whole chunks. Nothing will be cut into steaks. Big packs too like minimum 10 pounds or more. But if you're cooking for a big group, you're gonna need a minimum of 10 pounds so this may be a draw for me. The bad is for the beef selection, even though the pricing did seem good, there is no 'choice' grade. They use 'select' grade here, which is a notch down from choice. But if you're just braising or slow cooking then this grade would be just fine. Costco only serves 'choice' grade or higher so theirs is more premium. Pork is fine here, I got some pork tenderloin in 2 packs, which is one of the smallest packages I saw, ideal for home usage. Good selection of restaurant ware. Pots, utensils and storage containers. This is a big draw for me as I love restaurant quality storage containers. They are sturdy, with tight lids and many are stackable. These are even hard to find at Costco and Smart and Final. On a weekday morning there is zero traffic here, complete opposite of Costco. Now this is more geared towards restaurants, but knowing if I can get something here or Costco, I will choose this, as the parking and ease to get in and out is an amazing asset to me. I was gonna give them 3 stars for not really being friendly for home usage but given those certain occasions where I'm cooking for 10 or more people, then this place will get a heavy consideration. And drum roll please******no membership card needed. Open to the public. **cymbal crash**

Today I purchased a box of oranges at CHEF'STORE in San Lorenzo for my natural juice business…read more Before purchasing the box, I inspected it and found several spoiled oranges, so I replaced them with good oranges from the same product. When I got to the checkout, an employee named Eloisa questioned why the box was so full and informed me that the store had cameras, suggesting that I may have added extra oranges. This made me feel unfairly suspected and embarrassed in front of other customers. The box contained 82 oranges, which is within the range stated on the receipt (72 to 86 oranges per box). At no point did I take any product without paying for it. I was disappointed by the way the situation was handled. As a customer, I expected to be treated with respect and professionalism. Additionally, when I later called the store to explain what had happened, my call was disconnected before I was able to fully express my concerns. I hope management reviews this situation and ensures that customers are treated fairly, respectfully, and based on facts rather than assumptions.
