Ordered a pound of shrimp - mild & cajun combo. Cajun fries & garlic noodles. Shrimp had no flavor, and lacked seasoning! I tried peeling the shrimp and putting it back into the sauce, but that didn't help much with the flavor either. Also, my corn was soaking in the bag of shrimp and sauce and didn't soak up much sauce or flavor either. Cajun fries- good, but needed more seasoning. Garlic noodles- best thing ordered, good amount of garlic flavoring but they were really dry. Staff and service were really good. They were constantly checking on us, refilling water and at the end of the meal asked how it was. When we told the waitress about the lack of flavor and seasoning, she took it well. read more

On Saturday, a group of us (5) got together for a celebration. I picked this place because it was highly recommended by two other people who dined here before. I like the location and there was plenty of street parking. We experienced great service from the host and especially from our waitress Michelle. We were seated in our own little room that had a TV, so we were able to catch the Hawks/Celtics game. We had two rounds of cocktails called Peach Cobbler. We ordered appetizers and they were yummy: Calamari, wings fried shrimp and garlic fries. Then we shared salads and I ordered the shrimp and garlic noodles and I was full well into the next day! Went there on a weekend, when I first walked in, there was only 7 table. They all looked like they were waiting on food. No staff to greet at the door, behind the counter or behind register. I went to look for the bathroom, got lost and entered towards kitchen. All were hanging out in the kitchen. Anyhow, service took way too long, they went beyond the quoted "be ready in 15 minute". And I was more than a little late (so, it should have been ready). Got my fish and chips, ugh...nothing to shout about! Tiny fish to go with stringy fries! The Dungeness crab we got were put together from different crabs. Some of the legs taste funny and that's how we started to notice the pieces were from different crabs. The Meal combo also taste mediocre at best. The boil lacks both flavor and freshness. The crawfish also clearly tastes like frozen ones rather than live ones. read more

Chelsea, Devon and Toy (and his wife of course!) Makes 938 my go-to place. They take care of their customers and Toy always makes you feel as if you are part of the family... I like tequila and Chelsea created my new favorite Margarita!!! (Hate the tart lime ones) I call it the Orange Blossom Margarita (maybe Toy will put it on the menu!) You can actually taste the tequila in it and has a great sweetness with all of those fresh oranges muddled up in there....yum! The happy hour oysters are good, fresh and cleaned well. I love the seafood but I really love the clams in butter sauce poured on top of the white rice....full meal! I have never heard them say 'no' to a request...especially Devon... If you want something changed and they can make it, they will! They are generous behind the bar and take excellent care of their customers. I told Toy (the owner). Local spot me and the girls go to all the time for some crab and shrimp. Atmosphere is very comfortable, the owner is cool and the drinks are very good. Garlic noodles is a must! Glad I finally tried this spot. Really tasty seafood and lots of food for your buck. Hubby and I weren't too crazy about having to work so hard for the crawfish so we will probably try the King crab or shrimp boil next time. The seasoning is right on and not to salty like most places. The insane sauce is just that "insane" but has good flavor. I started with the spicy margarita which could've used a little more tequila to be honest. Hubby had a bottled Corona as Draft isn't an option but they should probably consider changing that. Dessert was pretty yummy as well. We ordered the fried Oreos and side of yummy coconut pineapple ice cream. I usually don't write reviews But this was the worst dining experience ever!!!! When we arrived we were told that our food would take some time due to a catering event we were ok with that because it would give us time to catch up. When we were seated we were told that basically, the restaurant was out of everything. It took 30 minutes to even get water! Remind you it was only 1 waitress it took her another 30 min to take our drink/ Appetizer order. We finally got our drinks and Appetizers which was the only good thing about the meal because the rest of the food was terrible!!!!!!! When we wanted to send the food back or substitute it we were told that they would get in trouble so we asked to speak to the manager on duty but was told they weren't there. So who were you speaking with is my question? The experience was terrible they didn't even try to fix the situation no complimentary drinks or appetizers just a sorry. And we still got charged for the food that we didn't eat. This definitely was not worth $394.00!!!! So the next step is emailing the manager let's see how that goes. read more

I love that there are "Boiling Crab" type joints popping up all over the place, minus the BC waits. 938 Crawfish has a full bar (score!) and the interior reminds me of the Nijo Castle in Newark (Japanese), so I'm assuming this was once a sushi joint at some point. One pound of shrimp and one pound of crawfish in the garlic butter sauce. Good seafood, sauce was all butter tasting. It needed salt. One pound of shrimp in the combo sauce = BOMB. This sauce is really really good, I even kept some of it from the leftovers to use with my own shrimp. Yes, THAT good. We also got garlic noodles and sweet potato fries for the kiddos, and both were very good. Service was eh. When we did get it, they were great. But throughout our meal the servers were non existent. We didn't get waters refilled, it took a while for our server to come and even take our order, no one checked on us, and we had to flag someone down to get boxes and our check. And it's not like they were super packed. I'm giving. 4 stars just for the food. Service gets a 2 1/2, maybe 3. Flavor!! So much flavor. A full pound of head-on shrimp. Cajun sauce with medium spice and a side of extra spicy garlic sauce - just to try. And why the hell not, it's only a dollar more. I am now officially a HUGE fan. Garlic, chili, salt, and butter, are the main ingredients. And my shrimps were juicyyy. Succulent! So enjoyed the heads-on and the option to include them in the first place. Medium spice Cajun sauce was perfect for a heat-loving but pallet-respecting Sriracha addict. I needed a few sips of water here and there but was otherwise content with my choice. Their garlic sauce was just fine; mostly what it sounds like with no additional spices, so I'll pass on it next time. Staff are all really lovely and fast acting. Never waited long for any of my requests, and was offered water, more beer, etc. right when I wanted it. It was sorta odd being handed off from server to server, but I got what I wanted, fast, so I really don't care. I was needing more sauce. And I wish shrimp were a little less cooked. Get them without the prawns, they are just tossed on at the end and the noodles can stand alone. On to the Seafood, my boyfriend and I split a combo meal and a Dungeness crab. EVERYTHING was delicious! We got everything in the combo sauce (garlic butter/lemon pepper), it was so good that if they bottled it, they would make a fortune! Do yourself a favor and pour the contents of the bag into the bowl that it comes it. That way you can use the sauce for dipping. This is my new go to spot for seafood (and garlic noodles lol). Was really excited to try 938 crawfish. Went last week and spent almost $90 on a boil and garlic noodles for two. The sauce and flavor was amazing, portion size however was very small. Id say about $40 worth max. Also asked for shrimp with the heads off and they came heads on. The shrimp was so mushy it wasn't edible. And we got TWO literally two tiny sausage slices in the boil. We were very disappointed as we had been so excited to try it. I give 2 stars for the friendly customer service and the sauce tasting great. read more

The service was very attentive and I always felt someone was always checking up on us every so often. So +++ for that! I ordered a pound of shrimp ( $13.95~)with the cajun combo sauce with a piece of corn, which was $0.95, as well as cajun fries ($3.95) and garlic noodles ($7.95). The shrimp was cooked pretty well and the sauce was pretty comparable to other seafood places I think. The garlic noodles came with a little container of cheese which complimented them so well. SO YUMMY. I was like...can I order extra danggggg. The cajun fries were pretty meh, so I'd pass on these for more garlic noodles. Overall, great option for a seafood Cajun place in the East Bay. i really wanted to like it. service was wonky and slow. the crab was not 100% fresh and the garlic butter sauce lacked flavor. had "the meal" with combo mild and was a great sampling of the their offerings. the sauce was good but not great. the 3rd star is for the garlic noodles which was delicious! service was lacking for sure. had to ask for plates and then they took them away. thinking i would get fresh plates, but had to ask again. they never came through to see if we needed anything, had to ask for cracker for the crab. getting the checking out was a bit of a chore them. they could not in short the food was not enough to cover the customer service. think the server was new and that her co-workers were not willing the help her. lack of team work was pretty evident. read more

Went here for Easter lunch (not sure what a crab spot has to do with Easter). I forgot her name, but the Salvadorean server we had today was the best! Now to the food, we started out with the oysters and garlic noodles. The oysters are really good, though they are expensive and the garlic noodles were pretty good too. The dungeness crab was the worst dungeness crab ever...the meat was dried out. The server told the owner who gave us a discount...10% off a $40 crab which is pretty ludicrous because it was 100% bad not 10% bad. That being said, the king crab legs were the best I've ever had! Super meaty and juicy and flavorful. Get them with the cajun sauce though be careful with what spice level you order if you're sensitive. We ended up getting a second pound of king crab legs. Though the dungeness crab legs were terrible and oysters were expensive, given the amazing service and best-in-class king crab legs and oysters, I will be back and only dinged them 1 star. read more

Went here for my birthday. We had 1 lb crawfish and 2 lbs medium cajun shrimp and mild lemon pepper seafood combo which was a mix of clams, mussels and shrimp. Also had the catfish, chicken wings, happy hour oysters and the garlic noodles. The crawfish was super small not worth it for the tiny amount of meat you get. The medium spicy shrimp was too spicy for my liking. I prefer the mild for a perfect kick enough to enoy the flavor without overpowering. So I loved the mild combo! The catfish was also my fave!! chicken wings nothing to brag about. Oysters were okay, way too small but i guess for happy hour not bad. Id definitely not pay full price for it. And the garlics noodles tastes amazing!! But each order was really only good for one person with a small apetite.
