I had the 4 bone bbq ribs but they gave me 6 which were so damn good I bit my tongue trying to eat them so fast, with the baked beans and potato salad that was so good I've never had that type of taste in potatoe salad but it wasn't anything like a cheap Walmart potatoe salad and the okra which was fresh as well. We had ribs and pulled pork, fried okra, corn nuggets and salads (needed some greens on this vacay and their ranch dressing was homemade and soooo good!). Everything was delish! I'm from NC and tried this place while vacationing in Miramar Beach and it was excellent! I had the chicken sandwich with cheese, bacon and jalapeños and it was so good! Also loved their mustard base Bbq sauce! Wish it was sold by the bottle and I could get it in NC! Great service, friendly staff, cold beer and great food! We've eaten at 98 Bar-B-Que on two separate trips to the "Emerald Coast". And we suspect that this is a bbq place that the LOCALS frequent. That means the food is really good and it's not too much of a tourist trap. I say "not too much" as the prices seemed a tad high. But, not being locals ourselves, how would we know? So, that being said, let us just give this place a serious two thumbs up! Salads...HUGE and fresh! The brisket...hot and tender! The service...they hustle here and it doesn't take away from their genuine friendliness. If it matters, the bathrooms are very nice as well. This place also does a robust take-out service, so, again, that must be locals ordering take-out! Of course, the big question, would we go back. Sure. It has a bit of a sports bar feel and lots of TV's for watching The Game, but they don't play around when it comes to their 'Q. Wow, what a great find this was! We ordered to go for a house full staying in Grayton and the "feast" did the trick and then some. I'm always a bit nervous with first time BBQ without a friend's recommendation but this was winner winner chicken dinner! Brisket was excellent, ribs were great, sauce was excellent and didn't overwhelm the meat flavor. We didn't even get into the chicken as there was so much for a very reasonable price. We catered 98 BBQ to do a party we hosted while on vacation in Seaside. Jon and team were great to work with, even lowering my first request based on the numbers of people I gave him. We had some of almost every meat, and most of the sides and deserts. All were delicious, my favorites being the pulled pork and the beef brisket. Our party all commented on how good everything was, plus we had left overs for half of our vacation. Delivery was on time and well taken care of. We left with a variety of pulled pork, chicken salad, baked beans, potato salad, and fried okra. Standouts were the baked beans (slight kick), fried okra, and the pulled pork tips the scale toward notable. The chicken salad has great flavor, but is a bit to creamy/rich for my taste, and I can't say I'm a big fan of the strong ranch flavoring in the potato salad. Both the spicy and the sweet BBQ sauces were quite good, and the pie I saw heading out the door on our way in looked pretty darn good. Overall, a strong contender for a repeat visit. read more

Absolutely the best BBQ in Destin. We drive 30 minutes just to eat here when we vacation here. Servers are very friendly and will never let your glass go empty. You have to try the Family Dinner for 4! I am a mom of 3 boys and along with my husband that makes 5 of us. We still had to bring home a to-go box. The full slab of ribs and the half chicken had such a great smoke taste and the pulled pork was great. Then you get to choose two sides to go with your 3 meats, fries, and texas toast. You can't go wrong with the fried okra or the onion rings. Our meal literally filled up 3 café trays pilled high. The only thing I wish I could change would be for them to serve Coke instead of Pepsi products. Other than that they are great! read more
