They take your order while you are in line and cut up the cooked meat in front of you and prepare your side dishes while you pay and then you take your plate to where you would like to sit. It was not super busy and the fellows behind the counter did a great job and were very polite. Lets start with the Good. Service was great! The staff were friendly, prompt, helpful, responsive. They hire great people, it is obvious. The restaurant itself is pleasant. Inviting decor, really liked the bare area. its not a large building but it gas a cozy feel and a very enjoyable atmosphere. Also very clean which I really appreciate. The food is good. It's not superb, but it's not bad either. The ribs were perfectly cooked but a bit bland. The brisket was a touch dry for me (my opinion), but still enjoyable, though they were also a bit bland. To be fair, im from Texas and I know BBQ. As someone who visited 34 of the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ joints last year, I fully admit I came in with high barbecue standards. But after several days of seafood and beach food in Destin, I was craving a taste of home and decided to make the trip. A word of warning: what should have been a 15-mile drive took nearly an hour on a rainy Friday afternoon, so plan accordingly. The standout items for me were the sides. The mac and cheese was perfectly done, the baked beans were excellent, and the cornbread was a great addition to the meal. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was easily my favorite meat on the tray, great flavor and texture. The brisket and ribs, unfortunately, didn't quite hit the mark for me. Both were on the dry side, with the brisket lacking the tenderness and richness I'd hope for, and the ribs needing more flavor. Portions also felt a bit small for the price. Our total came to around $70 which included a tip but felt a little steep for what was served. That said, there are plenty of positives. The dining room is spacious and would easily accommodate large groups. The staff working the serving line were friendly, efficient, and kept things moving. The restaurant and restrooms were both very clean, and while parking felt limited, that may have been more a reflection of my unfamiliarity with the area than an actual issue. If you're in the Destin area and looking for a break from seafood and typical beach fare, this is a solid option. There is no reason a to go order should have burned cornbread. Spent close to 120 yesterday for a quick meal with the family. Ordered two orders of cornbread. Was beyond disappointed when I got home and noticed a nice black char on both orders. Had been looking for a reputable place for bbq when we make our yearly trips out this way. One of the only BBQ spots I know of around here so it was good to finally give it a try. Wife and I shared a 3 meat sampler so we could try a lot of things. Pulled pork, sausage (which had cheese and jalapeno in it), and turkey. All three were very good and we liked that they have four different sauces on each table. A sweet sauce, black pepper one, and a couple vinegary based. The star of the show though for me was the collard greens. They have a great spicy flavor and so flavorful. We found this last year and had to come back. It is right off 30a. It has plenty of parking and seating inside. You stand in line to order, you can see them preparing your meal in front of you. You pay and then seat yourself. I wish this place was local to me. because the meat is excellent. I crave the turkey. It is so lean, not dry....just the perfect flavor. I would absolutely leave 4.5 stars if possible! This place has easy access, parking and the ambiance is perfect for a bbq spot. We have family in Texas so we are pretty well versed in BBQ, first, something that not easy to find is Texas Twinkies. I absolutely had to order those. They were good but they had a lot of sauce on them, more than I cared for, but definitely check them out. We ordered a 3 meat plate to share, the brisket was as good as I ever had! The pulled pork was very good and the sausage was good and spicy. A friend with us had a pulled pork sandwich, I have never seen so much pork on a sandwich. Had a craving for some BBQ, and here is where we landed to try some. I will say it was all pretty good, but nothing absolutely WOWED me. I'd probably come back, though. Asked about the sausage, and the bartender told us there was no cheese in it. She said she'd ask to be sure, but she never did. Just picked up her phone and started scrolling. We asked the manager/owner that greeted us, and he told us they use cheddar in their sausage. Thank goodness we found out the truth... Bartender was nice but not very attentive. We had to ask for refills; otherwise, she stayed at the bar end on her phone. The brisket, turkey, pulled pork, and veggies were all delicious. The meats with a decent amount of sauce were very good as all of our meats were a bit too dry on their own. The setting/decor was spacious and nice, but the downside was all the wood and metal for sound to bounce off of inside-- made for a loud environment. We had a hard time hearing each other over the voices of a group behind us and down the bar from us, just because of no surfaces to help absorb some of that noise. If you're a true BBQ lover, you have to try this place in Santa Rosa Beach! The ribs were absolutely incredible! They were fall-off-the-bone tender with just the right amount of smokiness. Every bite was so good and packed with so much flavor. I had to stop myself from licking my fingers clean. The 4 sauces on the table were all different and a great accompaniment to the ribs. The sides were just as impressive -- the mac and cheese was creamy and rich, and the collard greens tasted like they had been simmered all day. The cornbread was especially sweet and almost tasted like cake. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. You can tell they take real pride in their food and their service. I had such a good meal that I came here three days in a row for lunch. Such a comfortable spot for a casual meal. Every visit, service was quick and the food was delicious. They have a nice sound system and play music a a good volume...not too loud like some spots. There is also a bar tucked away in a corner. On my last visit, I tried one of their desserts. A key lime pie served in a plastic cup rather than in a slice. The portion is really generous and I found that there were two big servings in the cup. You could even split it among three people! The food was to die for, great drinks, and a huge bourbon selection! I got the brisket burger and it was incredible. They only make so many a day was happy we were there early. My husband got brisket and ribs and wouldn't stop raving about how the meat just fell off the bone.
