Been coming here for years and the fried chicken is still really good. Crispy, juicy, and always hits the spot. But honestly, the place doesn't feel the same anymore. Seems like there's new management and the atmosphere was pretty uncomfortable during my last visit. There were a lot of rules and the staff was being really rude to other customers for no reason. They weren't rude to us personally, but seeing that definitely changed the vibe. Food is still solid, but the experience isn't what it used to be.

Ordered the half & half chicken with garlic soy and plain fried chicken. Both were crispy and juicy, with the garlic soy being sweet and savory. The plain fried chicken was simple and cooked well. The friend chicken doesn't feel heavy or too greasy. The staff was friendly, though they were a bit stingy with the utensils and napkins. They have a salad bar, but it feels monitored, as staff watch to make sure you're only grabbing what you'll eat. Plenty of parking, but stalls are tight and on the smaller side. Indoor seating is limited, so it's better suited for takeout or a quick dine in.

A restaurant specializing in Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) that has been established for many years. It was very popular back then and known for its unique ordering style, where customers had to purchase a certain minimum amount. The restaurant is famous for its double-fried chicken and offers a variety of sauces to choose from. This was my second visit. I ordered chicken wings to go with mixed sauces for takeout, and the fried chicken was still crispy, flavorful, and yummy. The service was quick and efficient, and overall it was a satisfying experience.

Back in the day, this was the place to eat. Your meal used to come with free rice and spicy sauce, and it felt generous and welcoming. Since the change in ownership, though, the place feels stingy and cheap, which really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. As for the food: the chicken is still excellent. Great flavor, juicy, and served hot straight out of the fryer. Easily a 10/10. The salad bar is basically the same, but now they'll charge you if you leave food on your plate, which feels unnecessary and petty. It's honestly sad to see how far this place has gone downhill -- from a family-owned spot to an owner who nickel-and-dimes customers for everything. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to charge you for breathing their air. That said, the service itself was okay. The ambiance has also changed. It's been modernized, but I personally miss the old look with the pictures -- it had more character. At the end of the day, I'd still recommend this place if you're coming strictly for the chicken. Just be prepared to deal with a very stingy owner.

We came here around 5 pm when they opened for their dinner service. It's in a plaza so there is plenty of parking. When we came, there was one other family there besides me and my girlfriend so it was actually not busy at all. Someone points us to a table and brings us menus at the table we sat at. When they take your order, they bring you disposable gloves, napkins, and plates to go to the salad bar (dine in only). For food, we got kimchi for a side, pretty good tasting kimchi. We got fries as well, just normal crinkle cut fries, nothing too special but is a good side dish. We got the combination chicken, pretty sure it's a mix of sweet sauce, soy sauce, honey, and original. Don't know if I'm completely correct but I'm guessing. Overall they were all so good, huge pieces of chicken by the way. The place is pretty average for the size and when it gets busy I could see how the wait times could be pretty heavy. Great for late night drinks with friends or so. Overall, this is a great Korean fried chicken spot, I recommend for people to check out if you want some!

Great OG spot in the South Bay Large portions for a fair price (~$30 and serves two) with serve yourself veggies. Not all flavors are equally good, but I really like their sauces ones. Chicken was juicy inside unlike some other KFC places that make it really dry or sticky.

We just left without eating. The entire restaurant was empty. They required us to order more food than we wanted/could eat because they give free rice? $30 for 10 pieces of chicken is already high in my opinion. 5 pieces per person is REQUIRED! Kids included. Good luck with that policy

The lady serving us was very welcoming and kind! We ordered sauce, soy garlic, and honey chicken. Delicious!!! New fave Korean fried chicken spot. The chicken was flavorful and the skin was so so crunchy. Large pieces too. Def recommend!

I finally tried 99 Chicken and fried chicken is one of my guilty pleasures. This Korean fried chicken had a nice light batter and wasn't oily at all. We got the sauces on the side. The honey was thick and sweet which I liked, but my friends liked the spicy sauce more. There was a bunch of rules about the salad bar that I didn't pay attention to and I must have not broken any rules since nobody yelled at me! I will definitely comeback here to feed my fried chicken craving.

This place has been on my radar for a while. I wish I enjoyed it more. The restaurant has a parking lot in front but it does get really busy. There are a couple tables inside but if you have a large group you might need to wait a while. If you dine in, you get access to their unlimited salad bar. It includes rice, radish, broccoli, salad and some other stuff. You can't take stuff from the salad bar as part of your to go container if you have leftovers. You can also get stuff from the salad bar after they give you paper plates. After we ordered it took about 5-10 mins to get our food. They give you disposable gloves as well. Honey garlic chicken: 2/5, The chicken wasn't super crunchy. They also give a mix of drum sticks and chicken wings. Their sauce didn't have a strong garlic flavor. It just tasted sweet. I also wish there was more sauce. Korean sauce chicken: 2/5, the waitress described the flavor to be similar to gochujang. We got mild so it wasn't spicy at all. It had a slight sweetness. The overall flavor was just okay but it wasn't my favorite. These wings had more sauce but the wings were not crispy. Not sure if I'll be back. I think there are better Korean chicken spots in the area

My friends and I came on Thursday during lunch, and we were seated right away. Chicken was good; my favorite flavor was the Honey Garlic. The original is quite bland like other reviews said. I just wish they can add more seasonings to it. Salad bar was also decent. I'm a bit disappointed that the complementary rice isn't available anymore. It's $3 a bowl fyi.

What I got: Honey Garlic Chicken : 3/5 Soy Sauce Chicken : 3/5 So I went here after going to the climbing gym, and I decided to try this place because my friend recommended it to me. So that being said, I felt like the flavoring for the place was all right. I think I prefer bbq chicken or vons. But that being said, the crispiness of the chicken was very light. It didn't feel super oily, which was surprising because it's fried chicken. The service was pretty good. I really enjoyed this place because they have a salad, rice and radish bar. Honestly, I'd come back for how much radish I was able to get. The ambiance was very casual. Nothing to write home about. I would prefer to just take out the chicken and eat it at home. But then you wouldn't get the unlimited radish. Would I come back again? Yeah, I think so, but I think I would first bring up bbq chicken and vons first lol

    Ana B.

The chicken wing sizes are decent. My partner and I got full after 3-4 pcs so the 10 pc is perfect for two. Theres unlimited rice and salad bar. Ketchup lovers should choose the red sauced flavors. I wasn't really a fan and the honey chicken is literally just fried chicken drizzled with honey. Would probably come back for the fried chicken to-go and make my own sauces at home.

Ask the Community - 99 Chicken

Do they offer complimentary sides when you dine in or order take out?

Starting June 10 they will be offering the mini buffet area. As of now they will provide you a bowl of rice or a side of salad

Do they discontinue the Kimchi soup?

    Yes

Is 99 Chicken free range, organic, and/or air chilled?

    None of the above

Do they have the kimchi soup back?

No, I don't think so. It might have gone forever.

Does the 5pc per person rule still apply with the new owners?

I believe so. The last time we were here we were asked to order 5 for each person and that was only a few weeks ago. Even under the new management food is still bomb dot com so the 5pc per person doesn't usually bother us ?

How does the chicken taste with the new owners? I'm coming from Sacramento and I don't wanna disappoint myself. I'm already disappointed by the reviews.

I've been going for years and still like it.

After the change in ownership does the chicken still taste the same?

I'm so sad they change owner. Usually when I order my soy chicken Togo it would still be crispy by the time I get home. This time it was so soggy. I ask the lady on the phone to please put a note to make it extra crispy too.

Does anyone know if ownership just changed?

Yes it recently changed beginning February 1st.

This trip was specifically for the 2026 release of Pliny the Younger! A once-a-year release where lines form and kegs tap quickly. I went on my own right at opening thinking I'd have to wait in some lines but I was pleasantly surprised to see a short line just around the corner into the outdoor seating area. It took 10-15 mins to get through and I found a place to stand in a packed house. They provided one Younger pour per order per person. Got one and ordered food. Food was a bit slow but obviously with so many people coming in all at opening. Ordered their double smash burger with fries. Found a group leaving and was able to sit at a table and enjoy the college basketball games / Winter Olympics while enjoying my beer. Burger was fantastic and the fries were great to munch on as the pours kept coming. No line after the initial rush and was able to get 2 more pours before getting out to meet up with the family. Known for their wings (always a good option), the rest of their menu is typically really solid with good burgers and sandwiches. They always have a great beer selection on tap and in cans as well. But your expenses are going to pile up if you linger too long. $13 for 5 wings or 3 tenders is a lot. Sandwiches are good, but recently I got the Italian beef and it was far too soggy to be enjoyable. Italian beef is best when there is some moisture, but the bun was not the right type to keep its structure. Sides are probably the most overpriced item. I once ordered the tater tots, thinking that there would be something special about them since they're called Terry's Tater Tots, but they weren't treated in any special way and as far as I could tell, I had spent $7.50 for half a bag of Ore-Ida. The main reason to come here is the beer selection, which is mostly small breweries from California. Lots of different types with helpful information posted (e.g. ABV and IBU) so you can make an informed choice. I have to assume it's mainly through their proximity to Santa Clara University and college students desperate for a place to buy a beer and watch the game. You might think a place called Wicked Chicken can at least deliver a tasty wing or chicken tender, but you would be sorely mistaken. Everything is drenched is sauce and the breading falls off the chicken way to easily. Getting the breading to properly bond to the meat is Fried Chicken 101 and somehow a place named after it still hasn't figured it out. And that is all before the prices. Don't get me started on the price... $26.50 for 10 wings? What planet are you living on? That is reason enough to walk out the door to go find something better and more in line with reality. Honestly the only bright spot on their menu is their fried-food appetizers as both the Onion Rings and Curly Fries were quite good, though they make you pay extra if you want ranch which is an absolute joke when you are already charging $7.50 for a moderately-sized basket. Learn from my mistakes. Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

The food I ordered was good! Not overpriced like the other restaurant, and it was authentic enough (by Korean/Korean American standards). I ordered a half jjajangmyun/half fried rice dish. They also give you a clear soup on the side, that pairs well with the fried rice. It could be 1.5-2 servings, depending on how much a person has for lunch. For me, it was closer to 1-- haha.
