There is a reason why this place has over 100 five star reviews - trust them! This place is so legitimate that it's taken me back to writing reviews after a multi-month hiatus. The acai bowls (~$15) here are all extremely healthy tasting and are of perfect texture and taste and also come in huge portions. You will not regret it. I ended up coming here four times in 48 hours and wish they would open up an establishment in San Francisco. Highly recommend the passion fruit acai bowl which isn't on the menu. The cafe also has other foods e.g. vegan ramen, bowls, and refrigerated foods (e.g. desserts, juices etc) that I haven't tried. You can easily eat an entire meal here. The ambiance is also fantastic - it's spacious, has interesting yoga studio-like decor, and also features a ukelele! We drove from Kihei to here one of our last days in Maui this year..wish it was a little closer. Being vegan for nearly 25 years has me in a place where I really like to eat WHOLE foods...for health, for taste for everything. So this place is where it's at for that. Read: not vegan junk food. The location is a bit out of the way from where we usually stay so I think I'd have more visits/experiences/feedback if there were more visits but, sadly, we had one solo trip. We each had a salad, DH had a fresh squeezed juice. Here's the rub....I KNOW it's an island but those three things cost about $60 USD...the juice was something far out like $15....he felt so stupid after ordering it but didn't look at the price. If you have the $$ it's a great option but for the budget conscious, stick to your own produce stand and make the foods at home. They are friendly and the food is pretty. read more

SO happy I found this place. I fell in love with the food, vibe, and awesome people. They put so much hard work and love into each dish and it really shows. All the ingredients are sourced from local farmers within a 5 mile radius! Not only does the food taste amazing, it's also extremely beautiful. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but some of my favorites include the curry buddha bowl, all the açaí and pitaya bowls, and the raw vegan cheesecake is the perfect way to end your meal. Each creation is served in a wooden bowl or plate which adds to the experience. Don't be turned off by its location in a strip mall, this place should be a must for all health junkies and anyone who wants to have great food that will make you feel good too. AMAZING! All around amazing. Amazing food, service, portions. We look for vegan places whenever we travel since wife is vegan and husband is most of the time. We came here twice; the first place we visited when we landed in Maui, and this morning, as we depart from Maui. The first time we came we got the done noodles, and one of us added tofu ($3) and totally worth to add some protein. It was SO good with the peanut sauce mixed in. The soba noodles are a generous portion. We were so full after finishing them. The second time we came we got the bagel with cashew cream cheese and avocado toast. The bagel with cashew cream cheese was so delicious and only $5! The avocado toast is $12 but it is a large portion (two pieces of sourdough toast with a large amount of avocado spread and tomatoes. It was SO savory! In OC, you would find avocado toast for about $9 for half the portion size, so I would say it was a great value! They have some cute things for sale and the inside is so fun and "trendy." The customer service is wonderful; the (who I believe to be) owner has been so friendly each time we have come in and has greeted us instantly upon arrival and asked us about our day. Definitely living the aloha way. They also have free water to get in Moscow mule cups. I highly recommend giving this place some service. The menu looked promising. I ordered the brunch waffles with pineapple which was the special. They were tiny, old, tepid, the pineapple was clearly canned and the syrup was watery. It was 17 dollars. I asked the person at the register is this is normally how they serve it and she acted clueless. I very calmly asked for something that was fresh and she said "well everything is" which clearly wasn't the case. I got a bagel veggie sandwich to try and avoid another risky dish. I would eat a'a roots at least once a week if I lived closer. That being said the food is certainly worth the trek from any side of the island. Disclaimer: my husband and I are not vegans... However, stopping at A'A Roots may have been one of the most memorable highlights of our recent honeymoon trip to Maui. All of the food was crafted with love and menu offerings were nutrient dense and so appetizing. The little touches (cooper drinkware, wooden bowls from Bali and fresh flowers on the entrees) make the meal a celebration instead of how many of us treat eating -- like a refueling station. My absolute favorite spot on the island. Every time I'm on the west side I find my way to a'a roots. The food is so fresh and delicious, they are using whole foods that are ripe and tasty. No grey mock-meats, just glorious, colorful fruits and veggies. Be sure to check out their specials board because there is always a unique creation. They also have a cold case with some wraps, bowls, juices and treats inside. The decor and vibe inside is just as awesome as the food is. Everyone is extremely friendly and warm, happy to answer any questions or just have a chat.
