Let me preface this by saying that I don't mean to overshare, but I just want you all to understand how grateful I am for this experience and why: My father unexpectedly passed away at the beginning of the month. Needless to say, when it rains, it pours. The water heater in my parent's home started leaking yesterday and my mom didn't know what to do. She apparently found an alternative water heater company in the phonebook (lol, really mom??) who offered a free estimate. They came out and quoted her $2100 as a minimum price for replacement of the water heater and installation. They also included a list of upgrades that in total, would've been over $3000. My mom called me to tell me about this and I just thought there had to be something better out there. So, thanks to the wonderful Yelp community I found out about Bob and AAA Water Heaters. I saw that the price listed on his website was HUNDREDS less than the minimum price my mom received a quote for. I was unable to make it out to my mom's house for all of this, but she called Bob and he was able to get there within 30 minutes and replaced the water heater the same day. She told me that he was incredibly friendly and professional. My uncle also came to the house at this time to be there for my mom and had nothing but wonderful things to say about Bob, and he tends to be a very difficult man to please. FANTASTIC! What was not fantastic was that our water heater "died" on a Sunday morning. It had rusted through the bottom and flooded out into our garage. We called one of the well-known local plumbing companies that advertises a lot on the TV. They came out that day and quoted us over $1.800 inc. tax to replace AND this was with a no-name water heater that they have manufactured for them. I did some extra research online and found AAA Water Heaters on here with lots of positive feedback. Called Bob and left a VM (didn't expect him to answer since it was a Sunday afternoon). Bob called back about 5 mins later, we chatted on the phone, he confirmed the pricing that's displayed on his site and we confirmed an install for first thing Monday morning. Bob arrived right on time (actually a little early), was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He quickly took care of removal of the old unit and installation of the new. He was able to re-use our existing earthquake straps which of course saved us some money. Final bill was about $500 less than the first company we talked to, plus Bob installed a well-known name brand heater, with manufacturer's warranty included. Our 26-year-old electric water heater decided that Saturday afternoon was finally time to call it quits. I noticed the rug in front of the heater was, well, squishy around 5 p.m., spent the next couple of hours freaking out, emptying the tank, and researching water heaters and water heater installers. I sent Bob an email at 7:59 p.m. on Saturday evening; he replied reassuringly at 8:48 a.m. on Sunday morning; and was at our house with a big smile, exactly on time, at 3 p.m. that afternoon. Less than 24 hours after that squishy step, we have a new water heater, the basement's dry, and there's plenty of hot water again. I chose Bob out of a number of bids because he's completely above board about his prices and warranties -- they're published on his website. The other companies were requiring bids and proposals and initial consultations -- who has time for that when stinky teenagers need showers, and I didn't want all that interaction in my house during covid. His bid was also several hundred dollars cheaper than the other bid that I got as quickly (and Bob, you should probably think about that). Bob is chatty and funny and friendly -- a pleasure to work with. We pretty much just hung out with him, talking and laughing (and masked), as he removed the old water heater, installed the new, strapped it to the walls, and made sure that the new water alarm was working. Bob does outstanding work and is totally willing to go above and beyond all expectations. I had a leaking hot water heater, and of course it went out late Friday night. I was thinking it could be all weekend without water, or a gigantic bill to get it fixed. I called Bob and he was there 30 minutes later taking care of business. The set up on the tank was a little unusual, but Bob made it right by putting some extra care into the repair job. Other plumbers might have just patched it up and called it good, but with Bob the tank is now better than before. He even helped me work things out with my home warranty company to take care of some potential future problems as well. Our water heater had been performing poorly and recently the pilot light wouldn't stay lit either so we didn't have any warm water. I called him this morning and he said he could fit me in today. When the day started, things looked grim. The hot water tank was incontinent. The puddle oozed under the gas heater. It also soaked the hallway rug and crumble-foam under-pad, which should have been ripped out two decades ago. Called Bob. Our water heater failed late in the evening of January 3. At 9 p.m. I sent quote requests to 6 plumbers. Within 30 minutes I had an email reply from Bob. He quoted a reasonable, fixed price and offered to come the next day. We scheduled the replacement for Sunday, Jan. 6.
