It was hard to choose what to order as Aaru had an abundance of various Asian cuisine, not just Indian. The naan would probably be better had I gotten it fresh in the restaurant as it had good taste, but had grown cool. The taste of the food was mild, so next time I'll ask for more spice (I enjoy extra spice). There was enough food for leftovers for an additional meal and a half. read more

Presentation was excellent and it's got a cool atmosphere but doesn't look so nice on the outside. Our waiter was great (forgot his name). Only giving this 3 stars though. The dishes are overpriced. We ordered 2 chicken dishes for four of us and a lamb dish. The chicken dishes had maybe a half breast (if that) in each of them-it was all sauce and they charge about $17. The mango lassis are very small $5. A large beer is $12. Flavors were good but the butter chicken was too sweet. Both my wife and daughter had a stomach ache the following day. Over priced for everything here. If they don't have much Indian food in this town, then maybe some people will pay for this but I wouldn't come back. read more

Great food! I didn't try any of the Chinese options but I did try the masala dosa and the mango lassi, both of which were great. I'm from California (where we're known to have good Indian food) but I was so pleasantly surprised by how great this place in Tallahassee is. This is my first time eating Indian food and I am HOOKED. The menu at first is very daunting, but I decided to do some research on different plates which I highly recommended so you have a good foundation of the types of entrees you might enjoy. The service was amazing, the presentation was beautiful and I'm very excited to visit again. Our starters: - Tom Yum Soup - Gobi Manchurion dry - Tandoori Chicken - Garlic Naan (we ordered 2 initially and then ordered a 3rd for our entrees! Everything was absolutely perfect, but the overall favorite was the Gobi Manchurion. We all agreed we would eat that as an entree! Entrees: - Triple Szechuan Noodles Sizzler with Paneer - Chicken Jalfrezi (extra hot....and it was HOT) - Aaru's platter We all ended up with leftovers! The flavors (specifically with the Aaru's platter) blended so well. The first two can be eaten with silverware but I advise eating the Aaru's platter solely with your hands. Dessert: - Falooda A cold milky drink recommended by our server, and it included vermicelli noodles which at first seemed odd but it was the perfect end to a spicy meal. We will absolutely be going back, I was so impressed by everything! Received 1 UtaPam or rava something - just threw it out in garbage. I went for the first time to dine in sometime last year and I was not disappointed I normally do Uber pickups for other people and the food always smelled amazing so I wanted to try it out myself to see what the hype was about and boy I am glad I did! Several small chicken dishes, several vegetable dishes, Naan, paddums, rice dessert, etc. also had an order of VG onion bhajis, and other person had very spicy (to order) lamb vindaloo. Perfectly good and friendly service. The place seats ~30 but there's enough separation between tables. Acoustics poor (tile floor, stone tables) so the nasally squeaky irritating voices carry. I have heard of the Thali sampler platter at Aaru's, and finally got to try it today! It was, overall, a delicious and fun luncheon experience. My friend and I got to sit outside in near perfect weather, the food was excellent, and the waiter, Wilburn, made the whole lunch experience memorable. If you are a fan of Indian cuisine, and lucky enough to experience a Thali at Aaru's, you will be amazed at the selection. On a nice large platter, rice, naan, and a helping of Tandoori Chicken is ringed by small containers of Butter Chicken Curry, Goat Curry, Cabbage, Lentil Soup, Bean Curry, Salad, a Spicy sauce, and Dessert. It's a lot of food, but so much better than a buffet. My only regret is forgetting to take a picture of the Thali Platter! I asked the owner of Aaru's how long his restaurant had been opened? He said "We opened in January 2020..bad timing, "but we thought if we treated our patrons like family they would support us more often and they did, sometimes 4 or 5 times a month". An encouraging story to be told and after reading the many 5 star reviews posted I felt privileged to be seated at 9 when the place closes at 10. Based on revs I tried the mango lasi. An excellent smoothie/milkshake style beverage. The rest of our food was exponentially better. Every item was a new and unique taste experience finishing off with a shared dessert of falooda. What an experience. Tallahassee is to be commended for keeping this treasure of a restaurant up and running throughout this Covid mess. So Aaru's was decent pan-Indian/pan-Asian food. We have been trying to only use places that are takeout/delivery/curbside only, however Aaru is seating people outside and inside as well. We called and they said that they would do curbside, so we decided to order. NOTE: while they will take your credit card on the phone, for some inexplicable reason they still want you to sign the form when they bring the food to your car. That sort of defeats the purpose of curbside, but we signed. Anyway... Since this was out first meal with them we decided to try a lot of things: Gobi Manchurian, Steamed Veggie Momo, Chicken 65, Onion Bhajiya, Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Palak, Chili and Garlic Naan, and Tandoori Roti. They also have a free dessert special, so they added rice pudding. The food was just OK. The Gobi Manchurian was a new cauliflower dish, and we did enjoy it. The veggie Momo were cold dumplings that lacked flavor and, candidly, tasted like they were pre-packaged, frozen dumplings. The dipping sauce, however, was quite good. The Chicken 65 was wetter than we are used to and tasted OK. The onion bhajiya was more like a fried onion pancake than the fried chunks of onion that we are used to.The Tikka Masala and Paneer Palak were both quite good, although the paneer was a little too dry. The Chili and Garlic Naan was fantastic but the roti was just OK. And the free rice pudding was simply terrible: it was far too wet, with too little rice, and lacked flavor (we did not eat it). So, on balance, they were OK. And the fact that they will do curbside was a nice plus during these coronavirus times. read more
