The pizza here are super duper cheesy! They're also very pretty when you see them. We decided to try out the eggplant with ricotta cheese and the clam casino. Of the two the clam casino was definitely the winner. The clam casino had a good amount of clams so that you really a taste of the clam and the fresh garlic pieces in the pizza really added a kick. The eggplant is very interesting if you want to eat meat but don't want to eat meat. The ricotta eventually got too heavy and the eggplant seems to have been fried before baking so it gets a little oily after a few slices. The bread of the pizza is bit more on the breadier side and the crust didn't really have a flavor. I am a big fan of the New Haven style crust where it is thinner and a bit more on the burnt(but not fully burned) side, but this has potential. It would be great if they seasoned the crust a bit more to give the pizza a more complete taste from start to finish. Overall the pizza is pretty decent. They came on time when I ordered for a timed delivery and they notified me when it was left at my door step. May try again. read more

I have been a loyal customer for 20 years and unfortunately this business has declined in customer service as well as food quality. I called in an order for pick up and upon arrival at my home I opened up my order to reveal that the eggs in my chef salad were grey. The yolks were very discolored. I called the establishment and expressed my concerns and the response was very alarming as the person on the phone was very aggressive stating that he made the salad and there's nothing wrong with it , I continued to say politely that I have been a customer for about 20 years and I was concerned yet I received a very unprofessional response(he said do not order here then). I'm upset as I have been a customer for so long and I have never experienced this type of service. I was screamed at and hung up on. Very distasteful for a long time customer. I will not be ordering from this establishment again unfortunately due to the terrible treatment I received. This pizza place is close to our office and we were so hungry we decided to give it a try thinking they were mer mins away from us that it would probably be a quick delivery. That was not the case even though I could walk there it took them an hour to deliver two small pizzas. You could say we were hangry about the delivery time but to top it off, it was the absolute worst pizza I have ever had. Went in for the first time yesterday and ordered a pepperoni pizza. It was awful, dripping in grease. My husband only made it through one slice, I ate 2 slices, didn't want to waste so we asked for the rest to go, but ended out throwing it all away when we got home. So sad. As well, the ambience left a lot to be desired. Our waitress had what looked to be slippers on her feet, and looked like she had rolled out of bed and shown up. This is a hidden gem for good, cheap pizza outside of the New Haven pizza shops. Go to their website and print the 20% off coupon. The pies are big, cheap, and very good. I'm not sure what happened to Jennifer's pizza, but I thought their pepperoni pizza was surprisingly not greasy. The bacon and the buffalo chicken pizzas are very good. I decided to try this place yesterday. I ordered a grilled chicken grinder and instead I got a friend breaded chicken grinder. It was not awful, yet not what I ordered. I was feeing lazy, so I requested delivery and it took nearly an hour to arrive. There was nothing special about the grinder the bread was just generic and the chicken was a little over cooked for me. I don't think I will be trying this place again. Ordered lunch for a Tuesday afternoon. I've used their online ordering before without any issues. However, after waiting over an hour I called to find out what was going on. Sorrento makes good pizza in its brick ovens, away from the queues and the crowds in Wooster Square. As reviewer Karen M. notes, their pizza isn't greasy like Pepe's, but it's traditional local pizza, with a good thin crust. The people with whom I share Sorrento's pizza are particularly fond of the "vegetarian" combo -- green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and garlic -- it's a combination we can all agree on, with tasty toppings that thoroughly cover the pizza. Although I might give positive reviews to some of the pizza served in Tennessee -- where I live, Tennessee pizza is a poor substitute for Connecticut pizza. Ironically, Sorrento's pizza even costs a bit less than some of the pizza we get in Tennessee. A lot of Sorrento's pizzas are sold for carry-out, but the pizza is hotter -- and tastes better -- when you eat it there. Sorrento's has dining booths in two rooms, as well as a separate dining room (with tables) that often isn't open. "Italian Food" So Laughably Bad, You'd Think They Were Competing for Worst in the World So... I decide to double down on stupidity and order a second time from Sorrento's in Hamden, this time completely by accident. You see, the first time was such a horrific experience that I must have blocked it from my memory. When it came up "four stars" on Grub Hub and "three stars" on Yelp, I was thinking "what the hey" why not throw away thirty-five bucks on some pasta? And while I'm at it, why not punch myself in the face with a brick while I'm waiting for the order to get here? Since it's basically blizzard conditions here, still while I type, I thought I'd throw in a respectable 15% tip for the delivery service, which was tantamount to committing seppuku and then lighting myself on fire. When the food arrived in a box, the guy basically dropped it on the floor like Kanye dropping a mic onstage, foreshadowing that I just got rolled in a way that could only be comparable to a carjacking or clicking on "hot pics of Katy Perry!" only to find some jerkwad had posted Rosie O'Donnell stills from Exit to Eden. I dug into the food to discover that the salad was about the only thing they got right. The Fetuccini alfredo was actually some effed up gnocchi that were about as chewy as pencil-erasers, and were freezer burned for so long you could carbon date them back to the Late Cretaceous period (don't ask me how velociraptors can get their tiny bony fingers to roll pasta like that). The white soupy composite mess reminded me of glue, except blander. The cheese ravioli looked like ruptured pasta pillows stuffed with sloppy joe drowning in a lake of canned Hunts' red sauce. They were like tiny islands of pain in an ocean of fail. Half of the italian bread was doughy and undercooked, while the other half looked like it had survived Bikini atoll. Barely. Overall, I'd say this effort was so bad that I scratch my head wondering how this restaurant is still in business. That is, except for poor shmucks like me who buy food there after trusting reviews online NOT to be spammed by lazy, drug-addled cooks who can make time to rate themselves on webpages but not to cook a frickin' piece of bread right. This place makes a high school cafeteria look like Eleven Madison Park in NYC. It was truly a tasteless, disrespectful display this restaurant showed me. It was a giant epic middle finger extending over the horizon exploding into a fireworks display that would make New Year's rocking eve in Dubai look like a company picnic. There is no way fried mozzarella would be cold and like a sold cheese stick if it was delivered as soon as it was ready. Ordered a grinder and it wasn't correct. Called to let them know about the food and all I could hear across the room was the manager yelling at us on the phone. This is my favorite pizza in New Haven County. As someone who has lived in the area for 20+ years I've had the opportunity to taste most of the pizza in the area. The seasoning and tomato sauce is perfection and the crust is somewhere between thick and thin. So flavorful. A true gem in Hamden. I come here whenever I don't know what to eat or when my head is scrambled because I'm so famished. I'm currently here not after a long day and was so hungry. I love this place! Just as good and in some cases far better than most New Haven pizza without all the nonsense and tourists. Two Additional signs of Greatness: 1. Best chicken parmigiana dinner in the area (possibly the Continent?) 2. Super quaint restaurant! The prices are insanely cheap for the amount of food you get and it's great quality! I wish I knew of this place before! We ordered the Cesar salad, great portion meal sized salad for a side salad price! The chicken tenders and fries which was amazing the chicken was so juicy and crispy and then the bbq wings which was cheap compared to other places in Hamden and so good, they were crispy and saucy!
