Great place to go! Went here for an oil change for the first time this past Saturday and everything went well. Quick work, good price, and staff that know what they're doing. I got there around 10 am and I was 8th down the list for an oil change and I left by 11:30 am. If you want to be in and out quick I suggest going when they open at 9am and remember to sign your name in because they might be too busy working on cars to tell everyone who walks in. For their morning oil changes they try to get everyone in and out ASAP so it's fairly quick once it's your turn. They're very real with what needs to be done (if they find anything wrong when doing their inspection) and give estimates with your approval first before doing any work on the car itself. $50 for synthetic for a Corolla. Not sure about the quality of the oil, but they put a sticker on for me to come back in 5,000 miles. Had to wait 15 minutes for the job ahead of me. Other than that the oil change is fairly quick. When I'm due for service, I'll try this place and see how it goes. I had taken my car to Toyota to get serviced and they had a long list of recommendations, some included were "urgent" like fluid flush, break pad replacements and others included windshield wiper replacements. I ended up just getting a minor service (which was overpriced) at Toyota. My parents took my car here and the technicians said I didn't need fluid flushes and a bunch of the bull crap Toyota tried to sell me on. Just got break pads replaced. So I'm assuming this place is honest and not a rip off like Toyota services. read more

I have been going here for a few years, usually for oil changes and simple things. Up until about 2 months ago I would have given four stars. They guys are nice and I trusted their opinion. They would give a fair price and were close to where I live. Last month I went to have my brakes done, they were due. A few days after the repair my brakes failed while I was driving home on the freeway! The pedal literally went to the floor with no results. Luckily it happened at a point where the traffic was flowing, so I had time to let the car slow down and figure out my plan. Thank goodness I have watched enough movies to know that when the brakes fail you can use the emergency brake! I can't imagine what would have happened if I had to brake suddenly for a car in front or a red light! My boyfriend had the car towed in to the shop the next day, turns out they hadn't replaced one of the calipers properly and it broke. They took care of it for free and things are fine now, I'm just concerned about my safety and not sure if I would go back for repairs. read more

If I have a nickle everytime a person comes in asking how long is the wait, if they can either leave their car/key or come back later and if not then WHY, I'd be Bill effing Gates! I suppose they have limited parking spots, and probably helps ensure they don't take in more than they can do with only 2-3 mech. Each oil change is a about 15-20 mins. They will tell you how many cars ahead of you, and you can deduce your approx wait time. They should make a sign. BIG BOLD RED FONT. so ppl don't be asking the damn same question that gets them annoyed. Regular oil is about $30 and synethic is about $50. Overall, they're far from perfect, but they get the job done for a decent price. Their work area is open so you can see everything. They check your cars while doing oil change and tell you if anything else is wrong. I've done my 30k maintenance here and a lot of oil changes here. I've done my oil change here before with no issue. I went last week to change oil and also report to them that my steering wheel was giving me issues when I turn the car. It was really stiff I told the man. Not more then 15 min into the oil change the mechanic comes to report to me that there is a hole in my hose. He shows it to me but I let him know that I don't see the hole. He says you see the leak I said no i don't see the leak . He says you see the oil is on the other parts of the car. I said yes I see that but I don't see no hole in the hose. He proceeds to flash his flash light and point at no hole. Anyhow he tells me to a new hose and labor is $320. I said ok hang on. I call my husband to try and tell him and I ask the man does the $320 include oil change. He says no and puts my car down and asks me to pay my $60 synthetic oil change. I drive only to find the steering is fine and I drove around for another hour just to make sure and there was no leak of oil from my car below nor is the steering bad. A week later steering is still good. So I feel like he tried to cheat me and almost had me pay $320 on a new hose that I didn't need! Crooked man trying to get over on me a female who isn't familiar with car trouble. I don't recommend this place at all! I won't ever go back again! They're very honest and you get your moneys worth. They are definitely inexpensive compared to other places. My whole family keeps going back to them, my uncles, my parents, it's great. My dad even calls him to ask for an opinion, and he'll be honest about how much it costs and how he can save money. The only complaint I have with them is how they installed my drivers side mirror. Partly my fault since I should've asked them to fix it. Now I have a hard time adjusting it. Either way, Thoi is great. We always ask for him and go back. Brought my Honda in for replacement of front brake pads. Initially wanted to replace two but they were kind enough to inform me that the rear brakes were also wearing thin with only 2-3 months to go so decided to replace all of them. They provide manufacturer's parts so that was a plus. The cost for replacing all 4 was the equivalent of replacing 2 quoted by the dealer. So far very happy with the new brake pads. They are definitely pros with a wide range of parts and machinery. Would definitely recommend. read more

Called and got an estimate for just front brakes. Thoi the owner quoted me for $150.00. I made my way down to the shop and they resurfaced the rotors and changed the brake pads. I also had a bolt missing on my driver side brake caliper. They were nice enough to replace it for me no extra cost. I've been here before to get an oil change, so I know they're fast and reliable. They finished my brake job in an hour. No appointment scheduled. Not to mention they were already busy. So I strongly recommend them. I honestly wish I could give 0 stars. I got my front breaks on my Lexus replaced a little less than a year ago. They were not cheap but I forked over the cash because they had such a good reputation through yelp. After I got my breaks replaced, I still heard a lot of screeching - which I took back to the shop to get looked at. They drove my car around and told me everything was fine.. the screeching returned a few days later but at that point I was tired of driving back and forth when they should've have been working fine since the get-go. Welp, the screeching is horrible now - I took it to another auto shop who let me know that although the brake pads were changed, there was no service done to the rotors. My rotors now need to be replaced which means I'm out another $450 dollars because this establishment took take advantage of a 24 year old girl who didn't know any better. DIS-HONEST and not worth the money. I would stay far, far away from this place. read more

This is the only place I'll take my car. There are very few honest car repair places these days and this is by far the best of them. Prices are fair and work is always above and beyond expectations. For reference, I have a 20+ yr old car that was due for a timing belt, while all other places wanted $1-2k, here it was $500. I take the car in for transmission fluid replacement and notice my brakes working better on the drive home! I didn't even ask them to look at them but they added brake fluid and checked over everything. Thoi was thorough about the inspection of my Avalon and gave me a quote that turned out to be 100% accurate. He was able to help replace my driver side headlamp very quickly (less than 24 hours) and the job looked better than I could have imagined. There are some times when your car shows weird warnings and alarms you with sounds that you dont gear that often. In one such time, I found these guys as they r super close to where I live and went there to check what was going on with my tire pressures. I thought that there was a nail on my right tire because that's what my indicated or at least what I understood. I called them and told the issue and they asked me to bring my car in. They inspected the car tire for any damages and found none. Checked pressure and increased it. The warning was gone and he really didn't charge me anything for this. Because he told me that it's something my dealer should be doing it to reset my warnings and he didn't do anything. The warning signs were gone after few minutes and I'm happy. read more

I used to take my car to Abbott Auto because of a referral. I had always had great service. The wait would be long because it is a popular place, and understandably so. I only stopped because I had moved farther away, and being a single mom it was difficult for me to just leave my car with no way home. I always got honest and reliable service (I remember many a times I thought I had to get something fixed, but he would be honest and tell me I didn't - or if I had to get something fixed, he would give me many honest options). Fast forward a few years. My son recently got a used car. Very old. We did A LOT of work on it at my current mechanic. There is a part that needs to be replaced, but because his car is SO OLD you cannot order the part from the manufacturer. It has to be found on ebay or a pick and pull. So I thought of Abbott Auto - took it here to see if they had a miracle connection. They told me the same thing - part is discontinued. But instead of leaving it there, the owner OFFERED to help me find the part on a 3rd party site and send me the link to buy it. Then I can bring it in for him to put it in! SERIOUSLY - if this isn't going above and beyond, I don't know what is. He hasn't even put the part in and I will still leave this 5 star review. read more

Came as a walk-in after calling if they had time to work on my car on Friday noon. They were able to replace all 4 rotors and brake pads for my Subaru WRX hatchback within a few hours despite having a bunch of cars already in queue for service. Price was decent for their labor and I just brought in my own rotors and pads for them to install (KNS blanks and DBA SP500 pads). Wow, I miss this place! My first review was over a decade ago and I see that a I've posted many updates every time they make me happy. I move away for over a decade, but now I'm back and I have a new story. The owner really knows his stuff. I went from an initial quote from another shop (I only went because the tire company sent me there) to fix a wheel bearing (thousands of dollars + saying I needed to change ALL my tires). Abbott knew my tires better than the "favorite tire store" of Milpitas and knew the tire was what was making noise to my car. He saved me from replacing a wheel bearing (several hundred dollar quote at the tire store and the tire store's auto shop (AAA certified) gave a quote that was even higher and kept suggesting I replace both and all my tires) ---- Here's the long story! * (My memory is a little bad so the details might be a little off). I woke up with a flat tire. This was before Covid. I think my car might have been pulling, too. I couldn't find a place to put air in my tires and Wal-Mart was booked. This tire company in Milpitas was also booked, but squeezed me in (yay!). The owner told me to take my car down the street to the auto shop and tell them it was making sounds and maybe something about a wheel bearing. I wrote this down... and well... over a year later, I can't find out exactly what he told me. So, I embarrassingly call up the tire shop and find out it no longer exists :(. The tire shop owner retired. However, through Yelp, I found out the retired guy's helper bought a shop and the customers moved over. Let's call the new shop: Tire Shop #2. I call Tire Shop #2 and he tells me the name of the auto shop they normally use and it sounds familiar! but he says they can now do it and for me to come in later in the week. OK! I take my car over to the other shop because I don't want to wait till the weekend, and the shop quotes me.. but says I need TWO bearings and looks at my wheels and says all my wheels are bad. I ask for a quote on one bearing... and it's basically half the cost of my car! I leave and I go to Abbott, my usual shop. * So, stop #2 is Abbott. The owner does his thing, really looks at my car, and tells me I need to replace the rear tire because that's making the most noise and there might be some noise in the driver side tire, but he'll take a look after I replace the rear tire. * Stop #3. Wal-Mart's tire changing machine is down so I go back to Tire Shop #2. The owner also takes a look at my car and says it's the passenger's side wheel (not the driver). He tells me he's hiring a guy that won't be in for a couple weeks, but if I come back in a month, he will change the wheel bearing for a few hundred. I ask the owner if they can do the wheel bearing test (where they wiggle the wheel) and he says his worker will do it. I see the worker change the tires, and when he gets to the driver's side (Abbot's diagnosis), the wheel wiggles a bit. He goes to the other bay, gets a tool, tightens something in the back and puts on my tire. (Note: I have a friend who also had a similar situation and his mechanic said.. just tighten the screw (?) and it will help for a while. My friend drove his car for another 70K miles or something!). The worker drives my car and doesn't hear any more noise! However, the owner doesn't want to admit the problem is gone and also says problem might be my my tire that's STILL on my car.. a tire I didn't get from them. I ask the owner if he can take a look at the tires that came off.. and he sees the tire Abbott had pointed to and says that might also be why I had noise. ding ding ding. * Stop #4. I go back to Abbott and the owner takes a look and says my noise is gone!! I also know he's not BS because he reminds me that there's still the other noise he mentioned from a few days back. Also, I got to get my oil change in at the same time. Thank you Abbott. I really appreciate how you know your stuff and the service you provide! read more

Stay away! My boyfriend took his car for timing belt and 90K service and ended up with horrible experience. The following is based on his experience. Dropped off the car in the morning Toi called in the afternoon and said it was ready for pickup. Walked in the shop and Toi and another worker was sitting down talking and reading a newspaper six feet away. I waited for a few seconds for them to acknowledge me but no response. Finally I said something and Toi got up (minus 1 star). Toi explained that everything I asked was replaced and good as new. Went home and decided to check out the handy work. Noticed new spark plugs and air filter. OK so far good. Then checked cabin air filter, not replaced. Took car back immediately and got new filters (minus 1 star). Next day, check oil light turns on. Dip stick indicated low oil. Added one quart oil, checked dip stick still low. At this point I was mad at the situation and took it back to Abbott. Talked to Thoi and explained the situation. He personal checked over the car and add two more quarts of oil. The car only holds 3.2 quarts so that meant they forgot to add motor oil to the car and could have seriously damaged the engine (minus 2 stars). How could someone forget to add oil to the car? I was lucky to not have the engine cease on me. The car interior had several grease stains and smell of cigarette smoke for weeks after. This place completely lacks attention to detail. Always double check the work done at this place. read more

Horrible Customer Service. I walked in and was ignored! This Chinese guy (probably the owner) was on his cordless phone yelling in Chinese as well as to customers and employees in the establishment. He finally came up to me and said "5 minute" and I waited over 10 and I finally said "excuse me" really politely and he proceeded to IGNORE ME! I next witnessed a customer arguing with him over the agreed upon price and it got pretty rowdy and the whole experience was very unprofessional. There were calendars all over the place open to the wrong month/year with pictures of women in bikinis. I found this kinda clashed with the buddha statues if you ask me. Ok so some online article mentions that the Prius is the car of choice for those who have a little extra on the side. I don't know about that, but the car that rules the road in Silicon Valley is the beater. Sure there are plenty of Bmers and Benzos (do people still say that?), but its the venerable 20 something relic from the 80s and 90s that is still shleping people back and forth from where ever they need to be or where they need to go. With gas prices almost averaging 4.00 and people driving like idiots, you need a legit place to keep your mad max going. Thoi and his cohorts are straight legit. Love when my car runs as smooth as this! Even my steering wheel is much easier to steer ;) A week ago, my car started to make grinding noises. So I figured, uh oh -- here we go again! Had to find the right place to go to, since it's been awhile since I had anyone else, other than a family member be thee mechanic. Thanks to Yelp, it helped finalize my decision. Since Abbott Auto Service was pretty close from home, and it had pretty darn good ratings -- just had to try it out. Obviously, you'll never know until you find out yourself, right? Thee bf called and asked for Thoi. He wasn't available, so another mechanic helped and gave him an estimate of how much it would cost; if brakes and rotors, $150. It seemed to be the cheapest price around, to be offered -- so I took it! Finally took it this morning. Everyone was pretty busy. It only took them about 5 mins to acknowledge us. I think it was Thoi that asked us, but a guy named Huy came out to check out the car. We told him what might need replacement. This time, he said front brakes and labor could be $140 and that they'd let us know later what the price will be, if they had to replace the rotors too. Been approx. 3 hrs? A young woman called to tell me that my car's ready to be picked up. I asked her what was done and what the total came out to. She told me that only front pads were replaced, and they did my oil change and changed my filters. I asked her about the rotors; she informed me that they weren't necessary to replace. All in all, total w/ labor came up to $175 -- which I thought was GREAT! I really thought it would be about $200 or so. Not only that, but it seemed my steering wheel was a lot smoother to turn. I don't know if they did something with that, too, but I don't remember it being easily steered. Doesn't look like anything was charged either. Overall, I do recommend this place. Not only do they offer great service and pricing, they also seem to be, nice, honest people -- who are hard to find nowadays in this field. So 3 weeks ago my '97 Nissan Sentra decided to quit cranking on me. Did a quick search on Yelp. Called a tow truck to this place. All was good at first, they changed my starter for a reasonable price. Until later that day the engine light went on, and the car shakes badly when idle. Took the car back, was told that my idle control valve was bad. Well why wasn't it like this before? "Your car couldn't start when it got here, so how would I know?" Okay another 2 weeks passed, and the car wouldn't start cranking until repeatedly tried. Took it back and left it there. Called the next day, "Sir, I tried 4 times and it started right away every time." Really? Went down there myself next morning, lo and behold, no cranking. Tried 5 times and it finally cranked and started. Left the car to them for a diagnosis, got a call, guess what, the car wouldn't start even if it was cranking! Now it's the distributor that needs to be replaced! What about the starter? "We will replace it again for free", but I have to pay for the distributor. No doubt the price is fair, and they gave me a loaner car. But 3 unrelated parts failed around the same time? 2 while on their premise? And the other one (starter) needs 2 replacements? What is the odd of that? I don't want to suggest that they broke my car or they didn't do a good job, but they were extremely agitated at that idea. Oh let's not ignore the fact that this is a Vietnamese place, their English is hard to understand at times. I was given a price and promised a discount, but later found out it was for a re-manufactured part, and the "discounted" labor was already included in the quote. The actual amount came out to be $100 higher than what I was led to believe. read more
