I found Abee's through a service provider recommendation via Amazon after deciding to purchase a replacement part myself instead of paying twice the amount at a dealership. The appointment was made conveniently through Amazon and I was contacted by Abee's very promptly with time/date options for the part to be installed. The service (replacement of a headlamp on a vehicle that requires the bumper to be taken off) was done correctly and exceptionally fast, plus was half of what I was quoted by a dealership and still cheaper than other shops I called. I was told it would take roughly an hour but they were finished so quickly I was able to actually stay and get a state inspection in under the original 60 minute quote. They made sure to walk me through what was done and make sure I was happy with the work before going further which I found to be very professional. The location is fairly out of my way in north Austin but I will definitely consider returning for future maintenance considering the quality of the work and friendliness of the staff. They also are spanish language friendly which can also be a huge plus in the area. Can't recommend them enough considering they saved me over $300 and a lot of hassle with dealerships that couldn't even bother to answer their phones or return calls when messages were made (looking at you, Roger Beasley Mazda Central and South). read more

The alternator on my 2008 Acura MDX went kaput and a friend of mine recommended these guys. I called them around 10 AM and dropped my vehicle off at 11. By noon I had a quote (very fair IMHO) for an oil change and alternator replacement. Impressively they called me at 3 PM to tell me my vehicle was finished! Josh (the mechanic) also put the codes in for my XM radio and navigation system. Josh also reset my vehicles "oil life" monitor to 100% so my SUV was totally ready to go when I picked it up. It is the little things like that that I notice and appreciate! Abee's Hi-Tech Auto Service is not going to win any awards for the beauty of its showroom. You're not going to find a barrista (I'm talking about you Lexus Service department) and there certainly isn't a gift shop. As for the the loaner car? It's probably coming in the form of a ride from a good friend. Tucked away near the Chuy's on Lamar, what you'll find is the kind of garage that will tell you the truth and get the job done. And isn't that what you really need? Abee recently replaced the starter on my 2003 Lexus ES 300 for less than half the price quoted by the local dealer. The job was finished in less than three hours and he even took the time to show me the part he replaced and warrantied both parts and labor for the next year. While he's quite a mechanic, his golf game needs work. When you stop by; give him a pointer or two and he might knock a bit off the price. read more

Without a doubt, the most trustworthy mechanic I've ever dealt with (and I've dealt with my fair share of them). Multiple times, I've taken my car to him and he does the job for considerably less than the dealer or simply tells me there is no issue, save your money. He's had numerous opportunities to charge me to look at my car or fix something that didn't really need to be fixed and he's never done it. I had them replace a power stearing pump for my Lincoln Navigator. When the replacement pump failed they were really good about replacing it, at no extra charge. They really know how to treat their customers when these unfortunate things happen. They really care about customer satisfaction! (They changed the pump out in 2 1/2 hours. I wrote an email about a window issue and got a call back within the hour from Abee. He was very friendly, told me exactly what he though it was, and said he could get me in that day. I called a couple of other places and went with Abee's because they are pretty close to my house. I didn't get the mechanic's name that was there, but he was amazing. He knew exactly what the problem was, and got the part ordered and replaced in about 90 minutes. He gave me an demonstration that the door and window worked, and the estimate was within $20 of the actual cost. I was floored- it was fast, easy and i didn't get taken to the cleaners on labor cost and it's warrantied for a year. No it's not fancy- why would it be? It's an auto shop. You deal with the guy that's working on your car. And to deal with a good honest mechanic is worth more than any barista in a showroom. read more

This is the second time I am writing this review because my first review was somehow removed from this page. Came into the shop to have two wheels ordered and put on my car after an accident. they tried to overcharge me 20% on the wheels/tires for no reason what so ever. I also found after picking up my car they charged me $180 to mount the tires on the rims... but the wheels were shipped from the factory with the tires already mounted to the rims. They also decided to do an alignment and charge me for it without contacting me for approval to do the work. My wheels were being replaced through a warranty and they were trying to ripoff the warranty company, when they declined the additional costs the shop was trying to charge the shop tricked me into signing some document that said I would be responsible for covering the $500 remaining cost that the warranty did not cover, which the warranty should have covered all costs but with the random charges they were trying to make I had to pay out of pocket. Was able to talk them down $300 but ended up giving them and extra $200 just to get my car back. The people here suck at life. Found this out today, which is 5 months later, that my rear axle was also bent. Not sure if this happened while in Abee's shop or what. I would think a half decent auto tech would notice a bent axle when they are doing an alignment and replacing two rims that were damaged from hitting a curb. I wouldn't trust this place to put air in my tiers. Abee's Hi-Tech Auto Service, never again. read more

Abee is great, I have been going here over three years and won't take my VW anywhere else. He always stands behind his work, and his parts. He has even warrantied parts past the manufacturer's 1-year warranty when it looked like they shouldn't have failed. Best of all, he won't try to get you to dump more work into your car then what is necessary to keep it running safely. I never yelp unless it's worth it. Abee's worth it. And the Chewy's margs and happy hour chip bar right next door helps too. read more

Abee is an excellent mechanic and a nice guy, too. They don't treat women like we're idiots --- unlike most mechanic shops. They are more than accommodating when I have a warning light come on, they work me in and diagnose it --- usually in less than ten minutes. They tell me if the car is safe to drive or if I need to let them fix it immediately. They do repairs quickly and their prices are less than other places I've gone. They don't "find" a bunch of other things whenever I go in for routine things, but they do check all the fluids and make sure everything is in good working order. I send my friends to them! And what the earlier reviewer said is true--no fancy waiting room with espresso machines--but then there are no frills added to the bills either. read more
