Came here on a Saturday evening, and to my surprise, it was fairly empty. They offered just lamb or chicken with couscous for dinner. I opted for the lamb - it was soooo good. It's been a while since I wrote a review probably because I'm so picky on who deserves to be written up. I went to Abigail's tonight with my friends for dinner. This place is a hidden gem. It's right across the water overlooking the bay. You can see the bay bridge from there. What a beautiful sight. The food was fantastic. I rarely eat lamb because of the gamey taste but Abigail's lamb shank was extraordinary. It's so tender that it falls off the bone. The presentation looks good too. I think this is the best lamb shank I've ever tasted. I gave 4 stars because I think the restaurant could use better decorations but all in all my experience was great. We were able to talk to the owners. The wife is the chef and the husband runs the whole floor. They were so nice and humble. I would definitely go back again and recommend this place to my friends and family. By the way it is inexpensive too. You get a whole meal complete with salad, main course, mint tea, and a small dessert. To top it all you can bring your own booze with no corkage fee. This place is so amazing! I recommend making reservations especially for Saturday nights when they have the belly dancing because the tables sell out quick. In addition, their service is awesome and very attentive. Their food is so flavorful and decadent. They welcome you to bringing your own alcohol which is nice to go along with their food choices. For $25 you receive an appetizer - a salad, entree - lamb or chicken with veggies and couscous, and a dessert with mint tea. All of the food items compliment each other and you can tell it's made with love. It's a family owned restaurant and they come and greet you with so much warmth. We, a family of six, popped for a quick and late lunch earlier today to enjoy a good food and sunny bay and we were not disapointed. Food was great and place cosy. We shared a few dishes and also kids found something they liked. Meatballs, chicken and salad were all good and portions big enough for us. Mr. J the owner had also some time to sit and chat with us. Not my first time experiencing this cuisine, but my first time trying this particular place out based on the good reviews, so I ordered the mint lemonade and two dishes via Uber Eats: the Kefta Rice Plate and the Kefta Salad. To my dismay, the Kefta were dry and bland, the salad was drowned in red wine vinegar, the mint lemonade was too tart and I found an additional ingredient in my Kefta Salad: an extra long, black, wavy strand of hair! Eww, so GROSS! At least the rice tasted alright. Not very authentic Moroccan and certainly questionable quality of positive reviewers' taste if this joint is considered "Best in the Bay". read more

Abigail's is my favorite place to go for lunch. Fatima and Jonathan are always friendly and their food so delicious! Their portions are generous and you will never leave hungry. I especially love their Moroccan Kefta sandwich, Moroccan soup and Abigail juice. Their Moroccan mint tea is also a fitting way to end your meal :) I love coming here because they put so much care into what they do and really make you feel welcome. We had the saffron rice w/chicken and the Moroccan veggie sandwich. The person who took our call was very helpful and although I was originally going to order a different sandwich when she realized I was not going to get the cheese suggested the Moroccan veggie sandwich because it had more veggies. The food was amazing! The saffron rice was delicious, the chicken was seasoned to perfection and the sandwich had delicious crispy bread and amazing flavors. I think they put a little bit of cinnamon in their glazed onions which I wouldn't have thought I would like but it's very good. I highly recommend ordering from them. read more

We're in the area 3-4 x a year, but normally not on a saturday. So, finally a Saturday, so i wanted very much to try it out. It's a very small, cozy eatery. They probably used to just offer beverages and later for demand, added dinner, so there is a curtain draped to cover the area where they are prepping the dinner, from the dining hall. We arrived at 6pm and promptly were served our salads. We both had the lamb dish with coucous. It was a MASSIVE amount of cousous, which in the future, i may ask to have veg substitituion. A big plus for no menu and just having 2 entrees is that everything is premade and is quickly served. I did not realize that most ppl stay for the entire evening. Since we had something planned, we only stayed for an hour or so. Most patrons seem to be regulars who return and every table brought their own wine, which was encouraged. There is no menu and there are 2 entree offerings (lamb or chicken). I would def return on occasion, but i'd love to have the choices rotate. lol Sadly, we did not get to sample the mint tea and cookies, which comes with the meal bc we were told that it is served after the bellydance performance. I don't understand why they can't serve it to patrons who aren't able to stay for it? read more

Hidden gem in Alameda! Great food, great view of the city, and lots of open space nearby. Friendly staff and super delicious food. We split the lamb shank meal which comes with lentil soup and salad with hummus, eggplant, potato salad, roasted red bell peppers and tea and cookies for dessert. (For only $25!!) OMG! Get the kefta anything and homemade hot sauce. The mint lemonade wasn't too sweet and was refreshing. I especially enjoyed the Moroccan coffee. It was topped with cinnamon and spices to give an exotic flavor. Abigail's is a warm and cozy mom and pop's spot with an out of this world chef. Sat outside and got the kefta sandwich. Meat was delicious and the Dutch crunch bread was a nice touch. That bread really made the sandwich complete. My wife got the kefta plate and it was just as good. Celebrated a friends birthday here just tonight. The food was absolutely wonderful, the lamb we had was so tender it fell off the bone. The service was fantastic and always ready, even though the restaurant was almost full. And the entertainment, was spectacular. The dancer was very skilled and everybody had an absolute great time. We had lunch here on a Saturday. Seemed like we might be the first sit down customers, but they were serving a take out party before us. Food was good. The children were taking the orders at the counter (even if you are dining in, you order at the counter) which may be cute but we could have used a bit more help with the menu/items. Based on our questions (and pronunciation!-P) I think an adult service person would have understood we weren't familiar with a Moroccan menu and may have been more helpful/forth coming with feedback/suggestions. The kids were more focused on the machine used to enter the selections than our experience. That said, there were three of us and we enjoyed the chicken and kefta plates with rice and a kefta plate with salad. I also had the lentil soup (see below). Unfortunately we weren't familiar with Moroccan coffee which is very sweet and they don't ask about that... so that was considered undrinkable (we just don't do sweet or at least not that sweet). The mint tea comes in a small cup which is hot, be careful! I enjoyed the mint lemonade. Another reviewer described the taste as plain. We found the meats reasonably seasoned and tasty. The chicken was on the dry side but the taste made up for that. That said, one of the reasons I chose this place was to try Harira soup which they did not have the day we visited. I ended up ordering the lentil soup, which was... plain. I rarely add salt to my food, but it was that plain, and a bit of salt helped just to add something. Anyway, overall I would find it hard not to recommend it for a reasonably priced lunch if you are in the area. We sat by the window and had a nice view and good food. If you're looking for service and get the kids, my advice to you would be to ask them or ask for the Mom, which admittedly I did not. We also did not advise them on table service, they brought three sets of cutlery and some napkins and just plopped them in the middle of the table. Again personally not a biggie, if it had been just my wife and I we would probably have engaged with them more and gave them some friendly advice (my wife has worked as a kitchen manager), but we had an out of town guest so didn't want to distract. read more

Great lunch menu and tough decision, but I settled on the meatball parmigiana sandwich. Delicious and HUGE. Took half home for later. Went there for dinner for the first time. I didn't care for the salad, being American, I like a lot of greens! However, the chicken was excellent and easily removed from the bone. And the coucous is honeslty the best I've ever had! Along with the perfectly steamed vegetables, I left very little on my plate! These people are thieves. Avoid this place. I took my Moroccan wife there for a Moroccan night event, which was advertised at $30 per person. They billed my credit card $37.50 per person. The chicken was well cooked, but lacked flavor. The zalook was not good. The musicians and dancer were amateurs. These people are obviously Moroccans, but do not know much about preparing food. We stumbled upon this gem looking for a last minute place to eat last night and wow! were we surprised by the amazing food and service. The lamb is fantastic. The belly dancing was super fun, and the owner and his wife are super charming. Extra points for their very cute kids creating additional ambience by dancing to the belly dance music behind the scenes. I can't believe this place has been 5 minutes from my house all this time.
