Our food was amazing! I shared the lamb shank plate with raisins, prunes, and carmelized onions on a bed of couscous and the chicken with saffron rice and carmelized onions. Both were tasty. The lamb may have been my all time favorite lamb I've ever had! We also had a delicious Moroccan mint lemonade. Parking is easy, just park on the street across from the restaurant. And on a Sunday around 1 it wasn't too busy. Theres some outdoor seating and a pretty big dining room. Just order inside and they bring your food out. You can bring your own drinks as well, no corkage fee! They have glasses you can use for free. Also, it's right across from the bay where you can see the entire SF skyline. Best hidden gem in Alameda - peaceful, beautiful views of SF, incredibly nice staff, amazing Moroccan food, and they even have a no corkage BYOB! We came here with a larger group on Sat, sat outside, and opened up some beers and wine for the entire afternoon, ordering multiple meals throughout our time here, and just had a wonderful time. This place never got crowded, and has a large indoor dining area too. The lamb special was one of the best lamb shanks I've ever had, good amount of spice and just fell off the bone. The kefta and chicken salads were amazing - both the Moroccan and Greek version. Fries were great, cookies were great (you can order them individually!), teas were great, can't say enough good things about this place. Bring your own wine (no corkage), order the $35 set Couscous menu (lamb was amazing), and prepare to grab your own water and wine glasses as this place is lovingly run by a small family. 4 of us shared 3 plates and no leftovers but happily full. Amazing cookies for dessert to go with delicious Moroccan tea. The only reason I give this place 4 and not 5 stars is because the lighting could use a bit more table focus (candles maybe), no table cloths, think paper napkins, and the self-serve aspect. A hidden gem located in Ballena Bay right by the water with a quiet ambiance. We ordered the Saffron Rice with Kefta, the Saffron Rice with Chicken Breast, and a Morro Coffee. TLDR: a casual Moroccan dinner option with friendly hostesses and lovely chef! We came for the belly dance performance and lesson but found out that it is only for private parties. The lovely hostesses and chef end up playing Moroccan music for us so we can enjoy the dance floor nonetheless. The food was good. We got the package deal with appetizer, main course, dessert, and drink. My friends and I enjoyed the lamb shank, roasted chicken thigh, and homemade cookies. Great Moroccan food in a quiet neighborhood in Alameda. This is a great lunch spot and if you sit outside you get a good view of downtown San Francisco from the Alameda side. You can take some nice walks from here towards the ferry terminal. We ordered Moroccan chicken and rice dish and also the Kefta plate with Humus. The flavors were very authentic and the service was pretty fast. The mint tea also goes well with these dishes. If you like a relaxing lunch with great view this is the place to go in Alameda. The wife came up with this gem. You drive along the shoreline to get there, we took the opportunity to take a walk after our meal. The facilities are a bit dated but we're greeted by super courteous staff. We didn't have much experience with Moroccan food but found it's similar to comfort foods we eat on the daily. The wife picked the Daily special with chicken and rice, the other option was lamb. It came with 4 sampler salads, a cookie and tea. I went with the Greek salad with spicy tuna. The chicken meat was so tender, juicy and delicious that we knew we picked the right place to eat. My Tuna had a good amount of spice which I really enjoyed. The cookie reminded me of A better version of Lorna Doone cookies. Add the tea to pair with the cookie and we were in heaven. Highly recommended if your in the area. read more

They had a special for $35 for lamb shank but since I went for lunch the special dessert wasn't available until 6:00 pm. and the price was reduced by $5. The salad was fine. The lamb shank was tender but it could use some seasoning. I added some salt and pepper. I thought the special was filling so I was satisfied. There were a couple of small cookies that I didn't try but gave to my daughter. The special also came with a beverage. If you're hungry and they offer the special it's worth it. You won't go away hungry. I thought the rice was satisfying. The carrots took on the characteristic of something reminiscent of having being boiled as in part of a soup stock. I was in the mood for Moroccan food. I just need to compare this with other establishments which I don't have experience with. So the journey continues. read more

We started with a beautiful , fresh and tasty salad followed by our choice of lamb or chicken with mounds of couscous and perfectly cooked vegetables. First time trying Moroccan on Alameda Island and this was a great experience. Dinner and a show! Moroccan mint tea is absolutely delightful and dinner menu was fixed 1 of two choices is what you get so that was nice to not have to decide. They do seem to be family owned and it seems the whole family is employed or tasked with assisting in the experience. So have some grace when dealing with the younger staff/kids and maybe politely provide some pointers in the moment rather than snapping and being rude in return. We lucked out and even got a show with our dinner, which was great but again unexpected and we were not prepared to arubptly end our conversation and had no cash to tip either. Apparently this show happens on Saturday evenings, so do come prepared! The food was melt in your mouth tender and quite a healthy portion so come hungry! If you are driving in during the winter the area does get dark and there are little to no street lights.. they do not have a lighted sign out front so it can be quite nerve wracking driving down to the end of the road through the residential stays to get to the end of the outlet where this venue is. Be prepared to use your phone light etc. Looking forward to trying them again in warmer months when we can sit outside and enjoy the marina view. read more

This is a cute little spot near the water! I came here real quick to grab a bite to eat. All their dishes are around $10-$12 so it's really affordable. Their sandwiches are even cheaper! I ordered: Moroccan rice with Kefta (5/5): The Moroccan rice place was SOO good. The rice was so flavorful and the caramelized onions on top were perfection!! I would definitely come back for that. The spicy tuna sandwich (1/5) was really salty and acidic. So I probably wouldn't get that again. But the bread was good haha! Stars for the view and kefta (marinated ground beef) in the dish. Followed the yelpers stars and decided to give this Moroccan place a try. From the moment we've arrived the outside seating head only two tables occupied, no one inside. No menus, have to order from the counter with the limited board menu. One special (lamb and chicken), three main courses (kefta, chicken and eggplant), hummus as the only appetizer, few salads (very simple) and few sandwiches - done. From all ordered, kefta was the only thing that stood out. Greens - chopped salad leaves and tomatoes dressed with vinegar did not impress at all. Green tea with mint head sugar added by default without ask. Restroom maze did not impress either trying to find it. Went to Alameda on a Sunday morning to the antique fair and used my Yelp app to find this place. We were the only customers at about noon. I a have a feeling this place has an inverted customer week where lunch Monday to Friday has a bigger crowd than the weekend. We both had the plate which has four seasoned beef patties on a bed of rice with a side Greek style salad. The food was tasty and the portions OK. The service was attentive. There were a couple of negative factors I must point out however. The first is lack of any soda option. Sorry I expect any restaurant to have a least couple of cans of Coke in the fridge. The second is the water served lacked any ice and was barely cold. The third and most problematic to me was the fact that the floor was dirty.. not horrible but enough for me to notice and it was not just isolated in one place. The rug also needed to be cleaned. It was apparent the big Saturday night party had not been cleaned up the way it should be . I wish this place well and hope the management take my comments constructively. read more

I discovered Abigail's during Alameda Restaurant Week and decided to try because I've never had Moroccan food before and didn't know what to expect. I ordered online on their website ahead for pickup during these COVID times. Pickup is quick and they called us to let us know the order was ready. The restaurant is located across from the Alameda shoreline, the interior is very colorful and the exterior definitely had a nice view for outdoor dining. Their menu was small but I got a chicken rice plate and a kefta rice plate. I found the chicken to be a bit on the dry side, but the kefta was flavorful, portions were reasonable and I really liked the caramelized onions. It's not easy to find a real BYOB restaurant in the Bay Area with great food but when the opportunity came up for a spirit tasting with Yelp legend Dean C. I knew what I had to do. Abigail's was the obvious choice and they delivered, great location, tasty food, amazing views and friendly service. They didn't bat an eye when I showed up with a box o' Scotch and we all sat down to get at it. We went through about 8 Scotches then enjoyed a great dinner. The lamb shank was perfect, tender and not to fatty on a bed of Moroccan rice. The salad was also really good. Wife said the sandwich was a little disappointing, with basically a ratatouille filling that squished out with her first bite. We had some tasty savory/sweet shortbread cookies for dessert that perfectly complemented the rum and Armagnac selections that Dean had brought for sampling. That Foursquare Rum was a revelation.
