Tried the Small Islander and Drifter açaí bowls for breakfast and appreciated how quickly everything was made and brought out to us. I added almond butter to one of the bowls for an extra $1, which was a nice touch and complemented the bowl well. Overall, the bowls were solid and enjoyable, especially if you prefer a simpler, less overly sweet açaí. The açaí itself was more icy and not as sweet compared to other places, which was solid but not my personal preference That said, I was hoping for a little more of a unique Hawaii-inspired twist -- maybe something like coconut cream or another local flavor element -- because the bowls tasted pretty similar to açaí bowls I've had in other states. I've definitely had more memorable and "wow" açaí bowl experiences in Hawaii before. Still, I appreciated the freshness, simplicity, and quick service, and it was a good breakfast option overall. I won't gatekeep as I want this place to continue with business. A must try place for an açaí bowl. Open till 2pm. Has a great view overlooking Huggos restaurant. The acai was so smooth, lots of toppings, and really friendly staff! I think the price $16/ bowl is on the higher side, but that's Hawaii LOL. Cool place! We stopped by for a quick breakfast. There's a small parking lot next door. It's a small place at the top of the stairs but a good amount of seating downstairs. We shared a medium between two of us ($18) and that was good for a light breakfast. The fruit is fresh and the granola was nice and crunchy. Good quick service as well. Would recommend! read more

I love Acai bowls and found this place on Yelp (my go to for finding all manner of things). Guess it used to be Basik Acai. Ordered a large Drifter. It was the largest Acai bowl I've ever had. It came out pretty quickly but then again when I got there, there was no one there which changed after a couple of minutes. The Drifter was very refreshing and filling. Would go again when visiting my friends on the Big Island. read more

Ordered a couple of bowls and they came out super fast! Very friendly service and a cool view up there although not a lot of room. I love that there's parking because it's a very touristy area and they charge a ton for public parking. The açaí was a little sour, or maybe it was the banana. It was super dark too but overall the taste was okay since my kids didn't complain. read more

Very expensive but very good. Fair warning, the large bowl is really LARGE. Like the size of a Super Gulp at 7 Eleven. I was shook, but I finished it because it was so expensive. The fruit is fresh and the combinations are flavorful. The cold brew was also tasty but I wish that they offered hot coffee as well. read more

Loved the Basik Açaí in SF before it closed. Split a large puna ($18) between 2 ppl for breakfast which is plentiful. Heard some other folks ordering while we ate who were obviously regulars. One ordered off the old Basik Açaí Menu - which they can make for you. One mixed puna toppings with the pb base which I would have done if I'd have known! Next time. Upper deck seating is tight but has ocean views and friendly gecko. Free parking validation. read more

This place was on my list because of the rave reviews! It's in a really small spot, so seating is limited. The upstairs area is pretty tight so I'd definitely say it's more of a grab-and-go kind of place. What I really appreciated was how mindful they were about allergies. I told them what I couldn't eat, and they made the base without those ingredients, which was awesome. Also, I loved that they had chia seeds as a topping! Not just sprinkled dry, they were already mixed in and soaked, which gave the bowl a nice texture and made it more filling. The only downside was the fruit because it was pretty tasteless and didn't really add anything. . Other than that, it was pretty good! read more

We made sure to stop by for açaí bowls here, as my boyfriend and his friends used to work for the Reno location back when it was Basik açaí. The bowl names and recipes stayed the same, thank goodness, as it remains the best açaí I've ever had. I've had tons of açaí bowls in my life, and although yummy, they all pretty much taste the same. Icy frozen fruit and toppings. Not here. The flavor and most importantly the texture is outrageously better than all other places by a long shot. This is the best açaí hands down. I wish they kept their smoothies though- that was a very disappointing realization to not see the crunch on the menu. Bonus tip- try the peanut butter base on any of the bowls. It's even better than the original!! read more

I'd say I'm a pretty big açaí snob just because I've tried so many spots! This spot exceeded my açaí requirements and more! It's located in a little shack up stairs. There's not a lot of seating areas upstairs so you may have to take it to go out sit downstairs on the picnic tables. They make the orders super quick so don't be scared if the long line! read more

Cute açaí spot above Snorkel Bob's with parking for customers. Service was super friendly. It was quite busy for a Monday morning which is always a good sign. They have a few counter seats upstairs and two picnic tables with umbrellas downstairs. For just a few dollars more, you can get a large (32oz vs. 16oz) so my husband and I split a large Drifter - original açaí blend with strawberries, bananas, almonds, cacao nibs, granola and honey. This place is sooooo good! Got the small puna with peanut butter on Friday and was back Saturday getting the same. Was a bit confused because I thought I was going to Basik Acai, so when I parked wasn't sure. But looked at photos and location was same. Maybe a new owner? Nonetheless, fast, fresh and delicious! I normally don't love honey but the honey here tastes so delicious and fresh! In terms of price, it was about $15 for the small with tip. But worth it. Yummy acai bowls in Kona! Menu is simple and straight to the point. Staff was friendly and our order came out promptly. The acai base is not too sweet, which i actually prefer! Toppings are well proportioned. I got a small puna bowl and it was enough for 2 people. The food is very refreshing and not overly sweet. The granola adds a nice texture and the honey adds the perfect amount of sweetness. That being said I like really sugary food and the berries and smoothie were slightly tart at times. The staff is quick in preparing the food. Upstairs is super tight for ordering and sitting. Down the steps there are 2 picnic tables and 1 bench to sit at that have much more space. There is a small parking lot and you can validate any parking ticket once your order. Maps might tell you basik açaí is here but I only saw açaí Hawaii. read more

I'm a fan of Acai Bowls. I have probably tried all except the PB due to my allergy. The Islander, Puna, and Kilauea are my top three. They are made to order and accept credit and cash. The lines can get long, so don't be in hurry. The ambiance is cozy upstairs and they have a mini patio to chill at. Enjoy the view of the ocean while eating the fresh acai bowls. read more

Loved this Açaí place! They only have açaí based bowls, but they have different blends of fruits and the toppings are varied. The small is a good, hearty size, and the large is huge. The smoothie bowls were made so fast and we were able to enjoy it in the small seating area with a great view. read more

I highly recommend getting your açaí bowls here at Açaí Hawaii. The bowls are fresh, the portions generous, and the toppings DELICIOUS! My family goes here almost on a daily basis while visiting Kona. I unfortunately knocked off a star because I had a celiac reaction shortly after consuming a bowl I thought was gluten free. The cross contamination risk is too high at this location sadly. read more

Probably one of my favorite açai bowls in Hawaii. The Banyan bowl which is made with açai and peanut butter is so creamy and delicious, it's incredibly satisfying. The turnaround/prep time is super fast. Expect your bowl within minutes of ordering. Also fantastic view in the seating area of the nearby water/beach/bay. read more

It was late in the afternoon, so I basically came here for some drinks. I had to try their Kona Coffee, and I must say it did not disappoint! The coffee shop has indoor, as well as covered outdoor seating. The shop does sell some food items, but I did not partake or looked at what they had to offer. There was also coffee shop merchandise, but I did not have time to take a look at what they had to offer. If you have a discerning palette for the subtle flavors that show up in different coffee beans, you will definitely want to stop by for a cup.

Service was friendly and prompt, although it was clear we arrived at the end of our server's shift. We' were handed the check when we were nowhere near finished with our sandwiches. This wasn't a huge issue for us, but some people might feel put off by that. Cleanliness was still an issue--the tables really be a good deep cleaning. You can't beat the view! Their poké also tasted so fresh! Their portions are smaller and prices are higher for the amount you get compared to other poké places... but for sure it is quality over quantity here. I'm OK with that. I'm not a huge ahi poké gal, but they didn't have salmon so I just got it with the garlic shrimp. But everything was so delicious! The seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, kimchi, and kimchi mussels were all good. Fairly simple to order: bowl vs plate (1 side for bowl and 2 sides for plate, 2 servings of poké). Brown vs white rice. Top shelf: sides. Bottom shelf: poké. They also offer a variety of sauces for your poké. They are all pretty good, but my favorite was the avocado aioli. The wet Hawaiian and Pele's kiss were also good per family. Definitely worth trying and repeating. Personally, I prefer this poké place over Pau Hana Poké. Service was nothing spectacular, just efficient and busy. No small talks here.
