He came within 15 minutes and cleared the toilet with his special toilet tool and voila! Steve was careful not to drip gross toilet water on my floors. He wrapped his tool in a towel to catch the yukky stuff. Working flushing toilet! Yay!! Cost $75 for the 5 minute fix and wonderful functional toilet. I learned Steve is the owner of the business. We had to call a plumber out to clear a clog in our drains. Advanced Quality Plumbing was able to come out the same day. When they were running late, they made sure to call us and let us know. Our plumber's name was Marc and he did a great job. He made sure to check all possible sources of the problem. We have an older house that has been re-plumbed, so we appreciated that he listened to us explain the history so he could best solve the issue. I had called Master Plumbing first because last time Alfred Williams had a longer lead time and I was able to get someone from Master Plumbing right away. But this time Master Plumbing said their soonest appointment was almost a week away. So I called Alfred Williams and gave them the details of my problem (a hard to find leak under the kitchen sink), and they said someone would call me back to schedule an appointment. Within a few minutes, Steve called me back and said he had a cancellation so could be over in 20 minutes. He examined all around the underside of the sink, tried filling up the sink and letting it drain, used the garbage disposal, tried splashing water on the countertop, basically went through all the paces, but couldn't find anything that would have caused a leak. (The leak is very intermittent, and we only see the result when there is a small puddle of water under the sink, but there are no water stains on the walls or pipes). He finally said he wasn't able to see anything that could cause the leak and told us we'll just have to keep an eye on it. We did find that there was a small amount of water that seemed to seep in through the faucet fixture, but Steve didn't believe it was enough to be causing the leak. But he said in order to fix it, it might be better to replace the entire faucet for a new one since he would have to remove the whole thing to putty it up anyway, and it wouldn't guarantee that the leak would be fixed. We told him we would think about it for a day, so he scheduled us in for an appointment in two days (when he would have time to do the job) and told us we could call him the next day to cancel if we changed our mind. I asked him how much I owed him for today's visit, and he said no charge. Steve also helped us a few years ago when our garbage disposal started leaking. He replaced it with a new one, and also fixed a few other nagging things around the house to fill out the 1 hour minimum. He has always been very nice to work with and seems very honest and conscientious. We would gladly recommend him to others and plan on continuing to use him for our needs as well! read more

We noticed a lot of water dripping under our kitchen sink this morning. I crawled under the sink but could only tell that it was coming from the main faucet, and that the flow increased when I turned on the water, hot or cold. Steve has done excellent work for me in the past, so I called his answering service, and he called me back within seconds. Before scheduling an appointment, Steve asked me a few questions. It turned out that the solution to the problem was very simple. All I had to do was pull the flexible metal hose out from the fitting above the sink and tighten the fitting between the hose and the faucet. Problem solved. No charge. Thank you, Steve! Called and got an answering service who took my information, told her I needed to locate my clean out. Got a call back from Steve who tells me that is not my specialty...never heard of something like that from a plumber before. I told him I thought that was strange and that they may want to indicate the fact that they won't locate or touch a clean out on Yelp (where there is no info on their services), that is when he began interrupting me and trying to speak over me - so he could tell me no one else has ever minded. If you won't touch a clean out your potential clients should be made aware of that, so should your answering service. If you care about your Yelp rating you should exercise professionalism during phone calls. read more

Steve just left my home a few minutes ago and I would recommend him to any and all for plumbing issues. Let me start at the beginning---a few months ago. The faucet in my laundry room developed a leak. It wasn't a leak, it was more like a gusher. Asked husband for help; which never came so I decided to do the next best thing. I wrapped up a new faucet as a Christmas present. It sat on the end table for a long time. I finally asked him if he was going to be able to install it for me. His answer was that he "probably didn't have the right tools for the job and to go ahead and get someone in to do it for you". So, I looked at all the Yelp reviews and called someone (not AWP) and left a voice message. I even sent a request through their online contact information. I waited and I waited and I waited (7 days). I called back again and again got voice mail and this time I politely requested that if they could not do the job to at least please call me back and let me know so I could find someone else. Guess what, I'm still waiting for that call. I gave them 2 more days for a response and then I called AWP! To me there is such a thing as common courtesy. Don't tell me that someone couldn't have called and told me that they were too busy, didn't have the manpower or bandwidth to help me. When I called Alfred Williams Plumbing--first thing, I didn't get a voice mail; I talked to someone directly. They said I would have a call back within 15 minutes. It wasn't 15 minutes it was more like 2 minutes! I explained what I thought (notice the word thought) I needed and also asked about my dishwasher. Steve explained I really needed an appliance repair person for my dishwasher problem. So, he gave me the name and number of his "go-to" person. I will be calling them soon. We set up an appointment for today (Wednesday) between the hours of 12-1. I was delighted to have him show up at my door about 11:25 AM. I took him back to my laundry room and showed him what I thought (again that word) was wrong and that I had a replacement faucet which I purchased at OSH. Steve gets to work and once he has removed the old faucet he realized that the new one wouldn't work. I thought I was doomed. Not so fast---I still had the part that I had taken over to the hardware store. So, I gave it to him and lo-and-behold, he just replaced a rubber gasket. Which, by-the-way, I had asked the clerk in the plumbing department at OSH if it was possible to do. He advised me nope; easier to replace the faucet. So, if it weren't for Steve and his plumbing knowledge and repair capabilities, I would probably still be without a working sink. He was efficient, took great care with his work and I was delighted with the cost. We have cats and he took care to make sure that they didn't escape out the front door when he had to go out to his truck. Steve did a great job; he explained things to me so that I understood the problem and the solution and he tested the faucet several times before he finally signed off on the job and left my house. I recommend these folks highly and now I know whom to call when I need a plumber. I was referred to Alfred Williams Plumbing by Nelson Plumbing. This was for a rental property and it is a manufactured home with old plastic piping. Nelson Plumbing to suggested l call Alfred Williams because he had experience with manufactured homes. I called at 10:30 a.m. today and Steve met me at 11:30 a.m. After understanding what the problem was, he immediately went under the house and found the leak. He advised repairing it was not worth the time, that repiping was the way to go, or I would likely be having another leak as this type of piping is really bad (I knew he was correct, as I had been advised by a few plumbers over the years that I need to get rid of the old plastic piping). He told me exactly what and where the problem was. He was very nice, very knowledgeable and I appreciated his honesty. He charged me $60 and was there for about 40 minutes. Alfred williams plumbing was the BEST experience in my life when it comes to plumbing.I called 3 or 4 companies to see what is the best price. One company came and told me $900.00 just to fix the leaking pipe in my kitche,. and then he said he will call somebody to disinfect the mud that the leak created under my house... that means it will cost me more than 900. I told the guy that I'm still checking around he then called his boss and explain to her what he will do. He said he will cut the wall under my sink etc etc. People sometimes think that women are plain stupid when it comes to some mens job. One company called me and do a lot of sales talk. I told him that he is a good saleman but I really don't trust them. Next day guy came from this company, I was not home that time and my husband was home. He called me and told me that they have a better deal. So i talk to this guy and he told me $550.. I was alittle happy that it is cheaper but I know that there is a catch then he said I will disinfect the mud etc etc and the TOTAL IS $$$$$$$$$$2400.00...again 2400.00 I SAID WHAT$$$$$ forget it but he won't stop explaining to me what he will do but I told him no no no forget it but he wants me to listen to him what he will do and got mad at me when I said I know and undersrtand what he is going to do an again told him that we will call him he then said he can lower it to 1800.00. I was very upset to think that people really will take advantage of you BIG TIME if you are not careful. NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND CALLED ME FROM WORK AND TOLD ME STEVE CAME AND LOOK AT THE LEAK. HE SAID HE CAN DO IT FOR $380.00 OR MAYBE LESS AND WILL GIVE US A SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT. HE WILL WAIT FOR FEW DAYS TILL THE MUD DRIES UP SINCE IT STARTED TO DRY UP. FRIDAY STEVE CAME AND FIXED THE LEAK AND CHARGED US $180.00 RIGHT $180.00. WHEN THESE DISHONEST PEOPLE CAME AND TOLD US ABOIUT THE AMOUNT (FROM $900.PLUS TO $2400.00) WE HAVE TO PAY I WAS VERY STRESSED. I HAVE THAT MONEY BUT I AM SAVING IT FOR MY 2 DAUGHTER'S SCHOOL AND APT. RENTAL. I PRAYED THAT NIGHT AND GAVE IT ALL TO GOD. I KNOW GOD LISTENED TO ME A SEND STEVE TO HELP US. I found Alfred Williams plumbing on Angie's list. I called many other plumbers first to have them come out to clear a blocked drain in my tenants home. Other highly rated plumber charged between $!25 and $175 just to come out. Another charged a $250 flat rate for drain clearing. None could come within a 2 day window. Then I found Alfred Williams! They charge no base fee to come out. In addition, they could come out that day. It turned out that the tenant simply did not know how to disengage the bathtub drain, and there was no blockage at all. Steve was very pleasant about the whole thing, and we agreed on a very nominal fee for his coming out. I just encountered another plumbing problem. Steve returned my phone call within 5 minutes and will be here tomorrow. I recommend this company without hesitation! read more
