Update: after posting this review on behalf of my friend Quan (the customer) I was contacted by the business owner Kory Rushing who clarified the work that was contracted for and "completed". Quan misunderstood that she did not contract for the replacing of the lawn pieces. However, the business owner Kory stated that he is willing to do this on her behalf without charge. I am therefore correcting my rating since it was my misunderstanding and not the plumber, Kory Rushing. (Old review no longer valid) Company owner, Kory Rushing was "paid in full" for plumbing repair work on my friends (Quan) property in San Jose and did not finish the job. A section of lawn needs to be replaced over a ditch on the front lawn. The owner's wife, Skylee Rushing was contacted twice via phone (3/19/24 & 4/4/24) requesting that the job get finished. Both times Skylee stated that her husband or crew would be over to finish replacing the lawn pieces. The owner, Kory nor his crew ever showed up or called. The job still remains unfinished. I, Dale Kuersten am representing the property owner (Quan) a 77 year old Thai woman who doesn't speak english clearly and feels she's been taken advantage of. All she wants is the job finished as she is unable to resolve this by herself. Kory gave us a fair quote for a whole-house re-pipe on our 2-story house. He then proceeded to do everything he promised he would do, even though re-piping is hard, dirty work and involves some unknowns. When he found relatively minor issues requiring extra work, he offered a reasonable price and got it done without impacting the schedule. I used these guys to fix a main sewer line blockage. They had to go through the concrete to get to the backflow valve. They were quick and the job looked good clean-up wise. They only thing was that they left a big piece of rebar sticking out. I ended up cutting it myself. Otherwise, a good and reasonable priced job. read more

Amazing service! We had a sudden and serious water emergency this morning with large volumes of water spewing out from the water heater in the garage. I immediately called Advanced Quality, knowing them from their past responsiveness and high quality work. Skylie at the front desk was spectacular in understanding the nature of the emergency. I told her 2.00 PM next appt was much appreciated but I needed help immediately. She called back after checking and said someone was on their way. AVOID if you don't want to get ripped off. AVOID if you have an emergency and expect him to return to do the work. Spoke to Kory the first time and he answered the phone, "hello" and it was confusing whether or not this is a business. He sent a guy out and the manager asked for a better price. Within minutes, he went from $4,000 to $2,800. Figuring this sounds more plausible...They agreed to this price. Very strange. He said he'd make a contract and come back. I wasn't sure if he was returning so I called again. Within minutes he started raising his voice. I simply wanted to know what happened and what the price was and what time they'd commence work. Unfortunately his voice got louder and more hostile and then got to the point where he said, "guys who haggle price don't pay in my experience." The person with whom he spoke has been in business since 1981 and he knows that breaking a 36x 36in square of concrete does not cost $4,000, probably while his price went down to $2,800 within minutes. Obviously there's some interesting pricing going on here. Not to mention insulting, unprofessional behavior. AVOID if you don't want to get ripped off. This guy sounds like a nice guy and has probably done good work but needs a attitude adjustment. Completely insulting to assume a 50+ year business owner with good standing in the community would stuff him on a plumbing bill. Maybe his market is ripping off people who don't know the cost of things. BE CAREFUL!!! read more

Pedro did a great job on our shower fixture install. Unfortunately, the Moen assembly did not provide everything needed so he had to return to complete the job. Very courteous and solutions oriented! My water heater was knocking. I flushed it myself multiple times and it was still knocking. They came out and said they still needed to flush it themselves to make sure I was doing it right. I understood that, but when they said the charge was $350 just to flush it(repeating what I'd already done.) I didn't say no, but I restated what they just said and the guy said "Ok then, take care." And he walked back to his truck. Terrible customer service, but also they were trying to gouge me. No one charges $350 just to flush a water heater. That's a 30 minute job. read more

I had urgent situation in December when i had to replace my water heater quickly and decided to hire this company. 1) I always wanted to install a hybrid electrical model and when i asked them for this option, they were hesitant and throw some random estimate around 7k... that was clearly too expensive (i learned later than it can be done for half this price from a few other contractors). In addition to that they started saying things that it's new unknown tech blah.. blah.. and they don't recommend it. If you hear such thing from a contractor next time, do more research... maybe it's not the tech, but the contractor who doesn't know the tech. 2) Due to the urgency i agreed on the gas model. The price was on the higher side, but they offered the brand i wanted and they could do the job same day. The plumbing work was good, but somehow they didn't install an expansion tank and didn't insulate the pipes around the water heater (something that i learned later many contractors include by default or it doesn't really cost much). They didn't even mention these things as an option. My response to the owner's comments: 1) Re: expansion tank. The up-sold argument is not convincing. The cost of the tank is $30-50, just check the HD website. Your price was on the higher side already. You also could spend a few dollars for pipe insulation around the heater. 2) Re: the cost of the hybrid Rheem water heater is around $1200, AOSmith price is pretty close. It's not a huge difference compared to the gas models ($600-900), doesn't add up to the suggested 7k, even if you do additional electrical. And even if the condensate pump was necessary the cost is within $100 for most of the models on HD website. Again, i got estimates from a few contractors and your price was clearly much much higher. read more

Exceptionally competent, and took the time to explain the intricacies of the situation that created the problem (poor grading on a sewer line made it susceptible to clogging - no help from gravity). He was quite professional and had a very agreeable personality. I've had a disproportionate amount of bad luck with plumbers in the past. As such, I intend to use him exclusively for any plumbing problems I have in the future. When our kitchen sink was leaking, we reached out to a few plumbers to get a quote. Advanced Quality Plumbing was the quickest to respond and they were home within an hour after the call, to take a look at the sink and give us an estimate. They recommended replacing the kitchen faucet, and even recommended a particular brand and model, which made it very easy for us to buy it. Within the next 2 days, we made an appointment for them to come over and not only replace the kitchen sink faucet, but also a couple of wash basin sinks in our bathrooms. They were flexible with the timing to come home and replace the faucets, were very professional, prices were reasonable and handled the job in a clean way. I called Advanced for two small projects -- replace a garbage disposal and repair a toilet that wouldn't flush. The plumber assigned came quickly, wore a mask, and was polite and competent. I was shocked at the price he asked for for these two small jobs -- initially, $950 but I talked him down to $750. I decided to authorize it even though I felt the price was awfully steep for the small size of the jobs. I googled the garbage disposal he installed, and they are about $100 so the other $650 was for labor. The plumber competently completed both jobs in about two hours and was done. He fixed both problems so I was happy with the work. I would have given 5 stars except for the price. $750 for 2 hours work is more than most people make in Silicon Valley so didn't feel like a fair price for such small projects. Given that many people are struggling in these Covid times, I paid it anyway. read more

Words cannot describe how appreciative I am for Kory's amazing team of Pedro, David, Julian and Julio at Advanced Quality Plumbing. Being a first time home owner in a house that is over 120 years old, while very grateful, comes with its challenge's especially if you know nothing about plumbing and sewer lines. From the very beginning, they were extremely professional and receptive and came out within a day of me calling to schedule an appointment. I knew that there was quite a fair amount of work that needed to be done, as our sewage line was the original, and we were consistently getting back ups and leakage into the house (prior to their team coming out). I explained to them that I really wanted them to walk through the problems with me and point out all of the things that looked incorrect because after having 5 different companies come out telling me that everything looked ok (even though I knew it wasn't) I wanted to be familiar with what was going on. Pedro was more than willing to take me under his wing and walk me through EVERY step and put everything in terms that I would understand. I even asked him the same question about 20x and he never seemed bothered or frustrated and feel like he truly cared about me understanding exactly what was going on. He pointed out every single thing and has a vast amount of knowledge to back up his statements. They were all able to tell me what was wrong, why it wasn't correct, the issues I was experiencing because of it and what we needed to do to fix it. They were extremely honest and always made sure to be very upfront about the cost, why it was important, and the amount of time it would take to fix it. These guys worked their asses off for two weeks from morning to night to make sure everything was done correctly, perfectly, and that I knew exactly what was going on the whole time. Like I said, after having 5 companies come to my house, I finally felt like I found one I could trust. I have already recommended them to multiple people and am SO BEYOND grateful or everything they did to help us, and make our home livable again. I have never worked with such a genuine, helpful, knowledgeable and hard working group of people before. Kory and his crew were very friendly and professional throughout the entire install process of my new gas line. We are converting from an electric to gas range and needed an increased line size in the garage to the existing appliances out there, then a new line in the crawl space to the kitchen. The piping is super clean and well done, and I love the very thorough documentation via email in both the estimate and invoice. Great service! Had a backed up kitchen sink after dinner and he came out bright and early the next morning. My experience with Advanced Quality Plumbing was great. Within 1 1/2 hours of scheduling an appointment Tim promptly showed up at my door. I explained the sewer was backing up in both of my bathrooms. Soon Tim was in my crawl space inspecting my sewer pipe configuration and determined the blockage was between my house and the sewer main in the street. It would be necessary to rooter the pipe but I had no clean-out installed. In order to safely rooter the pipe and protect from future problems one needed to be installed. Soon there were two additional plumbers working in my yard to install the clean-out. It was raining all day but the clean-out was installed within hours. Soon they were running the rooter and cleared out the pipe. Water was flowing. Tim and the folks from Advanced Quality Plumbing were very knowledge, courteous and professional.
