While there was a little misunderstanding with the cost of services, it was resolved by the manager, Robert, in a very professional manner. I had a bonding on my front tooth from a previous dentist fall off because of an accidental head butt. This place was recommended because the last place I went was a nightmare! Thelma took very good care of me. Xrays and pictures was their protocol. She told me about cavities that my previous dentist had not told me about. She did a PERFECT job on fixing my broken tooth. From my very first visit to this dental office, I had been convinced that this was where I would continue all my dental work for myself and my mother. This establishment is very clean, they provide free shuttle service, the dentist (Dr. Alejandra) has done outstanding work for me always pain-free, and the receptionist is wonderful. Why a 1 star review then you might ask? My experience with the driver/manager ,Robert, is the precipitating cause for this. The first weird encounter was when I was thanking him in advance for driving my mother and I back to the border...his response was "why are you thanking me when i haven't taken you yet" as he is rolling his eyes at me with attitude in his voice. Not sure why thanking someone would make them annoyed? 2nd encounter was the cherry on top. His words to me were "shhhh the adults are talking". I could not believe the disrespect, especially for a man of his age. I have never been spoken like this by anyone especially at a dental office where I am spending hundreds of dollars. As someone who used to hate the dentist, this office has completely changed my outlook ! I lost my American insurance and was 2 years overdue for the dentist. I needed an urgent root canal, 6 fillings,cleaning,and a wisdom tooth extraction. The staff are friendly,knowledgeable, and all around amazing ! I've received horrible care from my dentists in California and had no idea that visits could be so easy and pain free ! Never experienced any discomfort or anxiety at this office during a procedure. I can't say enough great things about my experience at Advanced Smiles Dentistry. Overall the team are very welcoming, patient, and really care about your (the patient's) comfort. I have to admit I was apprehensive about traveling to Tijuana and going to the dentist. However, Roberto, the Clinic Manager was not only responsive via email and phone prior to my first appointment but he picked me up (and dropped me off) at the border which really decreased any anxieties I had. Dr. Julian is a consummate professional. I don't think I've ever had a dentist that was equally down to earth and relatable while also being completely knowledgeable about his craft. I have been here multiple times over the past few years and every time my appointment goes perfectly from the time I walk in to the time I leave. Everyone is so friendly and the girls all that work at the front desk are some of the sweetest people you would ever meet. I called to inquire about the process and Without thinking it through thoroughly I made an appointment for 2 days out. I spoke with Andrea. After I got off the call I realised that I probably rushed into making the appointment and immediately called to cancel. I then spoke to someone else and when I told her I want to cancel she was insistent I tell her why and that this was short notice. I reminded her I made the appointment less than 5 minutes ago and I did not have to tell her why I was cancelling it. Who was she to demand a reason why I wanted to cancel. Very unprofessional dentistry, I came all the way from Los Angeles for an emergency for my mother to get a check up because she was having extreme pain on one of her teeth which they did remove but we had to come back in three weeks to get the stitches removed and to find out more from the specialist what more work she needed done on her second visit. When all they did was remove the stitches and said to come back at 230 when we had gotten up at 6 in the morning to get there at 9 am , how are we suppose to roam around Tijuana til 230 with all this crazy pandemic going on? We had left our car at the border so we could avoid driving it in Tijuana and for us to walk around for 4 hours to be attended again. This is very very unprofessional, they should've just said to make our appointment that same day but at 230 pm. Do not waste your time. Cleanliness was top notch, they had state of the art equipment and also located in a easy to get to location from the San Ysidro border. This was my second time here and it was a great experience. I had an $80 teeth cleaning that was done correctly, my dentist back home had some rookie cleaning my teeth about 4 months ago and they did a lousy job. My insurance only covers two cleaning a year so rather than wait & get a lousy job from my dentist here in the states, I chose to take the drive and pay $80 bucks to have it done right. The service was great like the first time and they even used some numbing spray that I have never experienced but it worked great because I didn't feel any discomfort in my mouth. The numbness went away in about 45 mins. I will be back in October for another cleaning or maybe sooner if I decide to get my teeth whitened. If you want a good dentist for a good price, then look no further and try this place. read more

It is a week now since I had 7 upper teeth extracted and a denture put it. I am pleased I did extensive research on Dentists in Tijuana as I feel that I hit the jackpot. Advanced Smiles, Dr. Julian, Dr. Cruz the surgeon, Dr. Cynthia, Sophie and all the staff are extremely friendly and efficient. I had a flipper plate on my upper teeth but bit into something that cracked two top front teeth which necessitated action. The clinic is split into two areas and the cleanliness and hygiene is unsurpassed. I had a free consultation, including X-Rays which I could see on a large monitor in front of me; and then Dr. Julian gave me a thorough explanation, in excellent English, of options available to me with recommendations to me but leaving ALL the decisions for my treatment up to me. I knew the consequences of one treatment over another and decided to go for the surgery that would cause the least problems going ahead. At that first appointment a caste was made of my teeth and an appointment was made for the 31st October. Dr. Cruz is an excellent and pleasant oral surgeon and very concerned about pain control and comfort. After being thoroughly numbed, with only a few pricks that I could feel in my upper pallet the surgery began and took less than one hour. The denture was ready to be put in by Dr. Julian and it fitted perfectly. Dr. Cruz came back twice to check if I was having any pain. Twice I was having twinges in my upper RH jaw and was given more Lidocaine. He thoroughly went over what I could or couldn't do/eat for the next 7 days, plus prescriptions for antibiotics, pain pills, another medication for healing and a mouth rinse. I only had to use the pain pills(2) as I felt the Lidocaine wear off, two when I went to bed and only ONE the next morning. I have had no pain at all, felt a little weak and tired, which I was told to expect. I am now back on a regular meal schedule and getting used to the dentures. I have another appointment 13 November for a follow up. I am thoroughly satisfied with Advanced Smiles and CANNOT RECOMMEND THEN MORE HIGHLY; the service, facility and equipment is equal to or better than anything in Los Angeles; and the PRICES are at least a third less than in the US, with no scrimping. If you are looking for a Dentist this is the place to come to in Tijuana. read more

Havent been a patient, but I had an appointment for a consult for this Saturday, and they called me Thursday at 4 to change it to Friday at 9 AM (17 hours notice). this would be fine, if I wasn't in Chicago and bought a ticket to TJ specifically to see them. Changing the flight costs 300 dollars, plus, the additional cost of a last-minute fare (the original ticket was purchased almost a month in advance) so I told them to cancel my appointment. I am in the midst of some significant reconstructive dental work. I looked into having work done in Tijuana because it will be so expensive. I flew down from Seattle and 'scouted' things out months ago, scheduling examinations with 5 different dentists over two days so I could get a feel for whether 'dental tourism' is for me. I came away confident in all of dentists I visited, but I was most impressed with Advanced Smiles Dentistry. Their technology is better than my local dentist. My first exam lasted over two hours, with Dr. Metzler taking the time to explain everything with 3D graphic displays of MY TEETH and going over all the treatment options. Since then I have had a lot of invasive work done, and we're only part way through the entire plan, but I am very satisfied and confident in the work done. The work is efficient, properly medicated (i.e. pain is managed), and so far everything is going according to plan. My wife is even having some work done because, hey - we're here together so why pay more? Everyone in the office treats you great, and the communication with Liz is excellent - she even arranged pick up at the San Diego airport for us. Considering all the work to be done, I will probably save over $25,000 USD between my wife and I - that can cover a lot of plane tickets from Seattle to San Diego. The idea of travelling so far to Tijuana for dental work may make you nervous, but I have absolute confidence this is both the right dental and financial decision. read more

I walked in and was surprised of how professional the office looked ( better than the one I visited here in the US last week) All the staff was very friendly and professional, I met with Dra. Thelma Toledo and she explained that I needed my wisdom teeth removed ASAP, which I had no clue. I drove 4 hours to get to Tijuana. They took to to the office where all the dentist look super young. I never have cavities and when I came here they told me I had 7. To me it sounded strange .I also asked for my teeth to be whiten and I could tell I wasn't going to be happy with the result because the dentist and the assistant were unsure how to mix the gel and the assistant kept asking questions that made me think that it wasn't working. After it was done there was to visible result and the dentist was trying to convince me that I've had had great results. I could have had the whitening in the USA for $20 more. read more

really disappointed , went in for a consultation for 2 teeth to be crown since it was wearing down and you could almost see the nerve so therefore wanted it taken care of . Dr Jullian very nice man told me in order to do that I had to put crowns on all my lower teeth and the quote he gave me had additional fees such as root canals ,deep cleaning which was also in the price and some other fees. I was blown away and said wouldn't you see in the CTSCAN and XRAY that a root canal was needed ahead of time, He just said well be prepared for surprises ..LOL Also there was a front desk receptionist who was really loud and in fact other customers that were waiting in the office were laughing at her because she was kind of condescending to customers, so if you do go here get the prices in writing and question all the additional fees if they are really necessary read more

I narrowed it down to 2 dentists, when I called the offices, both in Tiajuana, it was the helpful and informative young lady who helped me make my decision, (I wish I could remember her name). The office is as nice as any in Newport Beach with state of the art equipment and the employees are all so friendly, all speak English. My dentist is Dr Alejandra Flores and I love her! She has 1/2 my teeth done and I'm so happy with my new smile. Going back for the bottom in June. My husband is also now a patient too. Some friends thought I was nuts to go to Mexico to get dental work but as we talked more to others about it we found out how many actually know how beneficial and cost effective it is.
