Hello everyone,
Let me start off by saying that I'm a retired from the state of California, department of mental health. I've been insured with Delta Dental for many years. I've been going to the same dentist here in Cambria, California for over 20 years. He is (obviously) an American trained dentist with a degree from a prominent school here in the U.S. His work is above and beyond any dentist I've had in the past. In the last several years, I've been teaching English as a second language in Asia. China, Cambodia, and Thailand to be exact. I had a root canal done in Phnom Penh, Cambodia by a local dentist. When I returned to the U.S. in June, I had a physical exam as well as a full dental check up. My American dentist noticed (in the X-rays) that the root canal was incomplete, and needed to be redone as well as the bridge. He gave me a treatment plan that consisted of retreating the root canal (to do it properly) installing a post and building up the tooth so that it would be strong enough to be the "anchor tooth" for the bridge. His price estimate was: $1,700.00 from Delta Dental, (my insurance company,) and $3,100.00 from me (out of pocket) for a total $4,800.00 (approximately). I thought that was a bit too much, so I researched dentists in Mexico and found Advanced Smiles Dentistry in Tijuana, Mexico. I read the reviews from many of their patients, and I read the reviews from several other dentists in Tijuana, Mexico as well.
I decided to call Advanced Smiles, I talked to the receptionist who spoke excellent English, and ultimately sent her my X-rays and treatment plan from my American dentist, she was very professional and was able to answer every question I had about her clinic and their equipment and what their treatment plan might be (after they reviewed my X-rays). She made me feel comfortable through the entire process. I made an appointment and made the 400-mile drive from my home here in California to T.J. I saw the office and the advanced equipment and was immediately at ease. This office is state of the art, with the newest equipment available, and the staff are very professional and used hand sanitizer and sterile technique throughout the treatment. The dentist went to school in one of the best schools in Tijuana and has been practicing for about 7 years. His English is almost at a native speaker level, he explained everything he was going to do and he was very confident in his capabilities. I was in the chair for almost three hours, but he completed what he needed to do, (the root canal, the post and build up of the existing tooth). He made an impression and I returned about 10 days later and he put in the permanent zirconium bridge. His work and the work of his staff is second to none. I highly recommend this dental office to anyone who has Delta-Dental as they will bill Delta-Dental and I will get reimbursed. Again, if you are a California state worker and you want to save thousands of dollars, go to this dentist. This office also has a 10% discount for cash. I saved over $3,300.00 by going to this dentist. I had to drive 8 hours each way, and rent a room in T.J. but overall, I highly recommend this dental office to anyone who needs dental work. They are professional, and I saved thousands of dollars. read more
