Geting ready to move into my new residence and had to have the locks "re-keyed". Went online and searched Yelp for locksmiths -- AA Affordable Locksmith was one of two choices. Instead of calling first, I decided to visit their storefront since they were conveniently located here in town. However, when I got there, no one was there. Only then I decided to call the telephone number on the door just to be sure. I spoke to Richard, Sr. and within minutes I was able to schedule an appointment for later that afternoon. Sr. told me that Brandon would be doing the job. Later that afternoon, I did receive a call from Brandon to let me know that he was on his way to the house. He arrived not too long afterwards and promptly went to work. I might add that it was so hot in the house that the poor guy was sweating bullets ... and yet he continued to toil away at the locks. Sorry again, Brandon! Overall, this was a very positive experience. To say the least, I got lucky that Brandon was assigned to handle my job. He was very professional and friendly. And, I am confident that if I should ever need a locksmith in the future (hopefully not too near future!) I shall definitely call Affordable again! On a parting note, Brandon also shared that in case of an (locksmith) emergency, especially after normal business hours (since they are now a 24-hour service), he said that it would be more efficient to make contact via TM (text message) with details. This review has been a long time coming... Prompt, courteous, efficient and reasonably priced. I needed to replace a computer chip key for a 2001 Xterra, and a lockout. Gave me a ride and two keys!!! Two years later I lock my keys in the Xterra, they open and a duplicate for almost diddly. They arrive when they say they will. They get the job done. Guess what? Somehow I lost my ignition key last night!!! I'm going to call AA AFFORDABLE in about 10 minutes. I'll bet they will make a really horrible situation right as usual. I am so impressed with not only the speedy reliable service, but also how friendly and professional my technician was. Called this company to replace 6 commercial locks, they were very quick to respond however after 4 days the doorknob on one became loose, was spinning all the way around and fell out (completely).When I called to have them come back it took 2 days for them to dispatch, they changed the doorknob, now the bolt lock and knob require 2 different keys AND they invoiced me $110 for a new doorknob; Stating my original doorknob was "old" and the problem, AFTER they already charged me to re-key it. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, will not be using them again; suggest you do not either. read more

Our church needed to re-pin 4 locks and I called Richard for a quote several days ago. His price sounded truly reasonable and told me to call him around 2 hours ahead when I was ready for his service. Because I was so busy with my work, I called him around 5 pm, and he accepted to help me at 7 pm even though the day was coming to an end. He and his wife showed up at our church precisely at 7 pm, took around 40 minutes to re-pin 4 locks ($100 visit charge + $25 per lock) and cut a total of 22 keys for us (2 free keys per lock, $5 per key, but $3 if more than 10 keys). I have to say that I learned my lesson...you get what you pay for. I started my journey a few weeks ago by asking for quotes from different locksmiths...I went with another company because they were cheaper, but sadly they could not get the job done...waste of money. I then went with 2 other locksmiths who also could not get the job done, more wasted money...ugh! I have a commercial glass door with a lock at the bottom and even commercial door specialists were sketchy on how they felt about taking the door down in order to change out the lock...the lock was corroded and the screws were stripped and the only way to take it out was to remove the door. After much messaging and negotiating back and forth with Richard Sr., he took pity on me and said his son was willng to help me...the sky parted and my prayers were answered. I bought a 20 year old house and wanted all the locks re-keyed. Little did I know many of them also needed replacing due to corrosion. I did know the old keys didn't work very well. I'm sooo HAPPY I made the call to them. I needed to get my apartment mailbox lock a new lock & I needed at least 4 new keys with it. My husband turned the mailbox key which was only 1 that the realty company gave me & it broke in half. So anyways I called 2 companies before these guys and they were going to charge me $130.00 to $150.00. So while reading the reviews from Yelp.com, I figured what the hell might as well call one more as the price range from previous reviewers it seemed like I'd get a better deal. Richard Sr. took my call at 130 pm and quoted me $75 for service call $10 for a new apartment mailbox lock w/ 2 keys & $8 for 2 more copies of this new key. I was so happy with their quote that I booked there service the same day @ 500pm in Salt Lake. He sent one of his workers I think his name was Shawn (forgot his name)? But anyways he was soo quick it took him about 7 minutes flat. I did notice that he already had the four keys I ordered, SWEET.. My first impression of him was wow he's a young kid, but you know what it's rare to find a young man to firmly shake your hand & dip his head down to say hi... That really made me feel confident in him knowing what he was doing plus he had his gloves on and a small tool bag so I knew he meant business. He was very professional & nice to my neighbors that passed by. Plus the chatting while he's doing his thing calmed my embarrassing nerves down because this is the first time I've used this type of service. He kept it professional with a local touch, shook my hand good-bye, gave me a receipt for me to turn into the rental realty company, oh & he had a credit card machine but I just gave him cash along with a tip as he was very professional. Read all the good reviews for AA Affordable Locksmith & Sons and decided to give them a try. Spoke to Richard and told him I had a faulty front door knob at my rental unit. He called the tenant to get more info on the lock and scheduled the repair. He came on time, replaced the door knob and re-keyed it to match the existing dead bolt. I just purchased a unit in a Condo in Waikiki. Needed a new doorknob and deadbolt installed in the fire-rated front door.
