WHY I CAME HERE? I have been wanting to try Afters Ice Cream for some time now, but just haven't been able to until most recently. I happened to be driving on Alosta Ave in Asuza and came across Citrus Crossing shopping center. Guess which biz is here? You got it... Afters Ice Cream... I turned right into the parking lot. ICE CREAM: They had about 16 flavors or so. All were quite unique and had some interesting combinations. I got to sample 3 flavors... Cookie Butter, Ube Brownie, and Salty's O. I really liked the 1st and 3rd. Cookie Butter reminded me of Trader Joe's cookie butter spread and cookies. So good! Salty's O is a well balanced battle between sweet and salty. Very good! As for Ube Brownie, I tasted more brownie than ube... wished it was the other way around. I just wanted one small scoop, but I ended up getting the pre-packaged half pint that was cheaper @ $5.00 each compared to $6.25 for small scoop. I ate the entire Salty's O... I couldn't stop eating it... quite addicting! I brought the Cookie Butter home. The young man helped me package it in a small cooling bag so it stays frozen. Unfortunately, it melted after several hours before heading home. It's all good. It just became an ice cream shake LOL. STAFF / SERVICE: Upon entry, I was greeted by a young gentleman behind the counter. He was very cordial, friendly, and helpful. I appreciate his patience while I was deciding which flavor to get. Thank you young man for the recommendations and best value option. INTERIOR / AMBIANCE: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the black and white color decor theme! A few tables and chairs are available for inside seating. They also have bar stool seating. No outside seating. No public restroom for use.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] EXTERIOR / PARKING: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tons of free parking at Citrus Crossing premises. My order stated it was completed but it was inaccurate. I have called the business twice, with no answer and have left two voicemail messages with no returned call and no resolution. After following their social media page for the past few weeks, I finally decided to try the famous Afters Ice Cream! As I walked in, I was shock to see no one here during a hot day. I lucked out since there was no line. I look through the menu and sample a few different flavors. I decided to get 1/2 a scope of ube brownie and 1/2 scope of jasmine milk tea. The scopes are huge! So I would recommend one scoop unless you can eat than two scoops would be good. The ice cream is delicious and I would say that this place would be comparable to the famous Salt N Straw. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a sweet treat. Looking forward to coming back and try other flavors! read more

I love Afters as a brand. So when it was time for dessert, of course I suggested to find a location near by. I love how consistent the flavours are. Food - 4/5 - The standard Afters flavours and quality that you would get at any location. Honestly the consistency is great because you know it is reliable and this location is no exception from that standard. Price - $$ - Afters has always been a novelty ice cream shop and while I do think that it is a bit expensive for it being $8-9 for 2 scoops of ice cream, it is a very "treat yourself" type of place. Service - 5/5 - The servers were kind, patient and helpful as we tried the new flavours and decided what we wanted. Ambiance - 4/5 - It has the chill vibe and there are some areas for you to sit and hang out with your friends while you enjoy your scoop of ice cream. Location - 4/5 - This location is located in a spacious plaza so there is plenty of parking. The shop itself isn't big so it's not great for large groups to hang out inside, but you can always go walk around in the plaza. I've been to 3 other Afters Ice Cream locations before, but this was my first time here. Location is in a shopping center with popular eateries and shops. This location's customer service is fine; nothing great, nothing bad. However, we all know we don't come here for that. It's for the ice cream! One scoop costs $5. A few of their flavors have bold colors like their signature Cookie Monster flavor. On this visit, I decided to try their limited time flavor, Strawberry PopTarts. Filled with crumbled mini pop tarts, strawberry jam, and I think their sweet cream ice cream base topped with more bits of mini poptarts. So good! Wished I had ordered 2 scoops instead. Side note, I noticed the black cups that hold one scoop seem to be leveled higher than my pop tarts cup (which was deeper). I've been to other locations and really love the milk and cereal ice cream. The After's flakes are my favorite part. I always pay extra to get sides of that to take home with me. My usual is 6 extra sides of Afters flakes. Usually it's come in the ice cream cup that the 3 scoops come in. I ordered on door dash tonight and admit I'm pretty disappointed. I ordered my usual 6 sides of the delicious, buttery flakes. What I got is pictured below. One of them was just spilled in the bottom of the bag. So the 5 remaining all look like this. Half filled, little cups. Each costs $.75. So i paid $4.50, which normally I have no issue paying for, and tonight, I got 5 tablespoons worth. They are in the little plastic cups you get salad dressing in at a restaurant. The ice cream was good. But I always get the same thing. I also ordered the peanut butter jelly to try. Packaging was decent. They staple the bag so you know it wasn't tampered with. I do appreciate that. read more

I've been to almost every Afters location, but this one is definitely THE WORST location due to the HORRIBLE customer service I just received today. I went in to get a milkshake and I usually get 2 different flavors in my milkshake when I've gotten it at other Afters locations. But when I tried to ask for 2 flavors for my milkshake here, the female employee working at the time said they only allow 1 flavor for their milkshake. I was surprised because the other locations I've gotten a milkshake at allows for 2 flavors, so I tried to tell her that, but she WOULD NOT BUDGE. I even tried to ask nicely if she can just put half a scoop of a second flavor, but NOPE. She was DEAD SET on her stance on only allowing 1 flavor for milkshakes. She had a "take it or leave it" attitude and was not friendly AT ALL and did not seem to care to provide good customer service. Like seriously...? You taking your job a little TOO seriously there. Needless to say, I left there without getting shit. I'm not giving my business to wack ass establishments with wack ass employees, and I'm definitely NEVER coming back to this location. And from taking a quick look at the reviews here, I already see another review mentioning the rude/horrible customer service smfh. New location in this ice cream chain, opened on June 30. Found in the same plaza as Regency Cinema and The Habit, specifically next door to Honey Roll & Sushi. Afters Ice Cream is best known for their milky bun, which is a scoop of ice cream served in a sliced donut. I first tried Afters in Long Beach, off of 7th Street (by Long Beach State) and thought the milky bun was a very decadent dessert. The unique ice cream flavors that they had on hand was good. You can get ice cream served to you in a cup, cone or in a split donut. Anyways, my husband and I decided that we wanted to grab some ice cream for our weekly date night 2 Sundays ago. We came in just before 6 pm. It was empty, but we were greeted by an employee behind the counter. The set up inside here is kind of odd. If you enter through the front entrance, you are in front of the register but this isn't where you order. The line to make your order actually starts on the side of the display case. While we ate our dessert here, we saw other people just standing in front of the register and the employee had to direct customers to the side (I wonder how many times a day an employee has to do that). After looking over the menu board, we ended up getting: 1 scoop of milk & cereal, $4.50 includes tax- Cereal topping comes with this flavor. Cereal toppings to chose from include Cinnamon Toast Crunch, After flakes (just sweetened corn flakes), Fruity Pebbles, Cap'n crunch and Cookie Crisp. I opted for the After flakes. I had my scoop in a cup because I just know that with a cone, I will most likely just make a mess. The milk ice cream itself is sweetened cream. It was good and went well with the cereal. But I think I would prefer for the cereal to be unsweetened since the ice cream is already sweet. Milky Bun, $6.50, including tax: jasmine milk tea with mochi topping in an unglazed donut- When we came, the girl behind the counter told us that we would have to wait 10 minutes for a glazed donut but they do have glazed donuts ready. I didn't know that an unglazed donut was an option because I personally think the glazed donut with ice cream is just way too sweet (when you get older, you just can't tolerate as much sweets). My husband ordered this (but of course I had a few bites. The benefit of being married is that you can share each others food). The jasmine milk tea ice cream has a real nice flavor that isn't too sweet and really does have that milk tea flavor. The mochi topping was a good choice to pair in this donut. ----------------------- (Total= $11, tax included) I love that the ice cream flavors we had were consistent with the ice cream we had at After's other locations. I was actually surprised that this Afters was not busy when we came (especially being so close to APU and Citrus College), especially it being a Saturday on a summer night. The location in Long Beach and Fullerton are almost always busy every time we have visited. What I really like about this location is that this place actually has seating. Only have been to the locations in Long Beach and Fullerton, there is no seating, so this is a nice change. I've been to 3 different Afters locations in LA, and this one has had the worst service of them all. I came in about 8:30 on a Friday Eve, and things started off nicely. I came with my sister and we both tried a few flavors before settling, however once we ordered, that's where things went down hill. The girl behind the counter was friendly, but was distracted by other employees talking to her and high fiving/bumping knuckles...this wouldn't really be a problem, however we both had to repeat our orders at least twice to her as she couldn't seem to get what we were ordering. We both ordered milky buns, my sister wasn't even asked what kind she wanted(the server didn't ask and didn't offer whether to have glazed or un glazed) so she just defaulted to glazed with her. I then ordered my own, and specifically asked for un glazed, and yet still got a glazed one. The other times I've been to Afters I've never had anything to say negativity, but here I just left with a bad taste. If I'm feeling a milky bun, I'll most likely head to one of the other locations, maybe West Covina instead? read more

I love my local Afters Ice Cream but unfortunately this location gets a 1 star today due to customer service & glove use! I walked into the ice cream shop excited as usual, happy to get my regular order when I noticed they are now selling SUNDAES!! I was full of joy as I love myself a good Sunday, and I proceeded to order :) my server Jessica informed me that they did not have the correct cups for a Sunday...that did not faze me and I told her that it was okay to continue! She then asked if I would like syrup and I responded with no thank you. This is when Jessica looked at me with a rude face and said if I am being honest a 1 scoop is what you are asking for. I was really confused on why she said that & even more shocked when she just continued with her suggestion without waiting for me to answer. She continued on serving us with an attitude and I respectfully allowed her to finish her job. I didn't feel like arguing with a worker who just seemed to not want to be working. When checking out I asked for kindly asked for her name to leave her a review she started at me wide eyed in shock then answered Jessica. I really just wanted a Sunday, I was flexible. The having the wrong cup size did not matter to me. I just wanted some ice cream with whipped cream and sprinkles . Instead I got a single scoop with sprinkles. After leaving, my Husband had pointed out a main concern for him which is FAKE NAILS - Jessica was training a girl on the job who had fake nail which punctured her glove while scoping out ice cream. No gloves where changed + working in a kitchen has taught us that you are not supposed to have fake nails at all!! I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I received at Afters Ice Cream on Citrus Avenue. I ordered a milky bun, which comes with a free topping. The manager, Karina, refused to honor the free topping policy that has been consistently applied at other locations I have visited in the past three months. When I asked for clarification, Karina was rude and unprofessional, stating that this location is not affiliated with the other 'franchises' I had visited. An blatant lie, because I have visited this Afters after working out across the street at Triad Fitness and they ALWAYS honored the half and half one topping on the milky bun. Not only was I denied the free topping that I was entitled to, but Karina also attempted to charge me an additional 75 cents for a HALF HALF topping. This is completely unacceptable and shows a clear lack of regard for customer satisfaction. The other girl who was actually getting my order prepared was actually going to honor the half and half of the one topping I am supposed to receive that comes with the milky bun, but Karina butted in out of no where and told her not to do it and says I am to be charged almost another dollar. The milky bun is 7 dollars and she wanted to charge me almost a dollar more just to have 2 different toppings. I wasn't asking for double toppings, I was asking for the same amount around the bun. What gives? I have been a long-time patron of Afters Ice Cream and have always enjoyed my experiences at their various locations. However, my visit to the Citrus Avenue location was by far the worst. I am going to tell all my friends via social media(FB, IG, Twitter, etc) and at the gym to start going somewhere else, as well as making a Yelp review and contacting the Better Business Bureau and submitting a complaint. At this point, it's not about the topping issue, it's her horrible and unprofessional attitude. I have never felt the way that she treated me at any other business in my life. Karina's poor attitude and refusal to adhere to company policies honored at all other Afters except this one and this location has left a bad taste in my mouth and has ultimately made me reconsider continuing to come to this establishment.
