My brother and I had one scoop each and paid more than $11.00 for it. The selection was not that good and the ice cream quality was very ordinary. Probably 12% butter fat. There are many better quality ice creams out there. I rather go to Rite Aid and buy Thrifty's Praline and Cream ice cream for half a price any day. Oh, don't be fooled if your scoop fills the cup. What day is it? Regardless if it's Black Friday, coming to Afters Ice Cream wasn't an afterthought at all. I got impressed not only by the favorable reviews, but their flavor selections match my palate. Their service was fast since there was only a family of four and me in the store at 2pm. The guy on duty was more than willing to present their offerings, especially since it's my first time here. I opted to try their Saigon Coffee and Thai Tea flavors. I admit that both flavors met my expectations! Instead of slurping on thai tea and vietnamese coffee, I'm glad I found the ice cream counterparts at Afters. The ice cream textures were smooth, creamy and did not melt easily (since the weather was only 75 degrees today). We came in around 8 pm on a Sunday night and there was still people inside, but there was pretty much no line. We got the Vietnamese Coffee and the Mint Monster flavors. We also got an extra cup so that we could split to 1 scoop each. I chose the Mint Monster one, and it was basically cookies & cream with mint. You do get to taste the different flavors that they have, which is great because they have a lot of unique flavors that you might not have even tried before. They give you pretty hearty scoops, so you do get a lot of ice cream, even for just one scoop. The guys working there were super friendly and patient with us considering it was our first time in. The entire time they had a smile on their face so they seemed pretty happy. They're also known for their milky buns, but honestly I feel like that'd be too much sweetness for me, and I was just fine with the single scoop. I feel like this is a good once in a while sort of ice cream place, or maybe like a quick first date sort of place in lieu of meeting up for coffee lol. I love their ice cream but as a customer, I don't like to wait over ten minutes before I can place my order. I was just there for one scoop of ice cream for my daughter and I had to wait about 10 minutes. Every time I have been there I only see one worker. Not sure if someone else is there and I happen to go while they're on break but it's not realistic to have ONE worker. I waited a while before I could order and suddenly there was a line of about 7 other people. I can only imagine how long they waited if I waited that long with only two people in front of me. If you order that, not only are you getting the pure After's experience, you're also getting what After's is all about. These days, I have the privilege of sharing the After's experience with my kids -- who are true junk foodies!! Their favorites are cookie monster and strawberry cereal. My go - to really depends on what I'm after (ha! no pun intended): cinnamon toast crunch, jasmine milk tea, and thai tea flavors are all good. Garnish with the After's flakes and you're golden!
