    Braised Shredded Beef Brisket Tacos

The tacos were sooo good, we loved them, but the service was poor. Idk if it was because of Cinco de Mayo, but we didn't have a waitress at all, and I had to get up to get some napkins because no one attended to us. Anyway, I would come back just for the tacos.

    Short rib tacos

Not sure why only 3.5 stars. That said, this was our first experience at Agave. Service was prompt and helpful. I was torn between the spinach and mushroom enchiladas and the butternut squash enchiladas. The friendly server suggested one of each. They were both delicious. He checked back to see which one I liked better: tough call, but, having to choose, the butternut with ancho chile sauce earned top billing. Again, both were tasty but the mushroom and spinach with the tomatillo salsa was just a tad bit oily and the mushrooms were over cooked. My partner enjoyed the short rib tacos that had many mouthful chunks of meat. The margaritas were delicious: the Ultimate and the Tamarind were equally tasty and lasted the entire meal. Average loudness even with a table of two families with young children: under 7 years. Nice to see a quality restaurant with well-behaved families. Enjoy!

    Steak salad

The steak salad is bomb and my go to. Overall not the best Mexican food but everything is pretty good. Service is great. And the patio is really nice!

We went for lunch. Nice cozy atmosphere. Our server was helpful and took good care of us. Food and drinks were nice too. We enjoyed our time here. Would recommend this place.

Meat found in the vegetarian burrito

This is the second time trying their food, first time was in person and the food/service were both phenomenal! The second time was takeout through Uber eats and it was highly disappointing as we discovered meat in our spinach mushroom burrito. As someone who avoids meat due to religious reasons, this was highly unacceptable. Thankfully Ubereats was able to refund the burrito amount but we had to throw the food away. I will definitely think twice about visiting this place as it doesn't seem like they are careful with how they handle food. Definitely warrants 1 star but the extra star is just for how tasty their food is. otherwise.

First I apologize I didn't get the waiters name. I did enjoy this restaurant today. It was very masculine and kind of lounge vibez. I had the carne asada which was very flavorful. The mimosa flight was delicious. The choice of champagne was very good instead of a cheap alternative. The guava choice needs to be changed; its not as good as the other two. I didn't understand the music choice but I did enjoy the atmosphere.

Chips, salsa, and my ultimate margarita

Tried Agave for dinner last night, primarily because they had a covered patio that was dog friendly and it was raining a bit. A "I wanna be the authentic Mexican food restaurant in Issaquah Highlands" and they might just have this down. Ample parking in the lot front door opens to, but also on the curb of the Main Street behind the restaurant (Park). Enthusiastically greeted by young lady at door who showed us to a table on the patio we had to ourselves until right as we were leaving. Nice environment. The main dining is tables and booths, tastefully done. The di rigor basket of chips and salsa arrived right away as did a glass of water and an old tequila bottle filled with cold water to help yourself at the table. I like that. Chips were fresh, red and green salsa were just kinda blah, but maybe that's what the toney whites and Asian crowd in this neighborhood enjoy. I ordered the "Ultimate" margarita courtesy of a recommendation by my server. Being ultimate carries an ultimate price! It was just ok as well, but I drank it all so a thumbs up. For my main course, I had the two brisket enchiladas. I was expecting that Smokey flavor of shredded beef brisket, but the flavor came more from the sauce on the meat as opposed to the meat itself. So just average on the enchiladas as well. They offered a grilled asparagas side option to the normal beans and rice that I appreciated. My server was very efficient and effective, checking in with me frequently. I didn't have to wait around for the check. He was right there with it at the appropriate time. Cost was $30 ish for me to include the margarita ex gratuity. It'll be $40 pp+ is your an appetizer and a more expensive entree All around pleasant. I'd give 3 stars to a meal like this, but the dog acceptance and covered patio worth a star for me!!!!

Dinner Flat Iron Steak Salads.... Steak lacked seasoning
    Ash A.

Location is easy to find in the Issaquah highlands with ample parking. We had a 45 min wait on a busy Friday evening, lot of shops around to while away time. Every table was given complimentary chips and salsas. We ordered the chicken wings and they were tangy and yumm. Tacos were soggy and a disappointment. I ordered the steak salad and the steak lacked any seasoning. The rice & beans that came as sides were flavorful. Definitely not authentic Mexican. Definitely save a trip here if you're craving some good Mexican food!

Food was great and filling, with good portion sizes. There was live music and great outdoor seating ambiance.

    Plain chicken quesadilla and sides

Service: Now, this was impressive. A group of friends and I made the mistake of coming to Agave on homecoming night. So they were crowded and had tons of people there. However, my group got our food in probably twenty-ish minutes. A few orders were messed up a little, including mine, but that was fixed as soon as I pointed it out to the waitress. So, at its very least, Agave has AMAZING service, especially considering how crowded it was and how quickly my order was fixed up. The food: The food was amazing, I got a plain chicken quesadilla. As aforementioned, my order was a little messed up and I received a steak quesadilla. However, that was quickly resolved and I received the plain chicken quesadilla I had ordered. It was delicious The environment: It's darkly dim inside the building, but you can still see your way. There's outside seating as well, and that's what my group had. It started sprinkling a little and there were no umbrellas for the table lol but it was a good experience! Final notes: I would definitely recommend Agave, as their food is as amazing as their service. It was a spectacular experience overall!

    Dinner Pomegranate Chile Relleno
    Portia C.

Came in to have some dinner alone while I kill some time before picking up my son. I've driven by multiple times and wanted to try their food. I came in around 4 pm on a Saturday and they weren't too busy. I was seated immediately. I decided on the Dinner Pomegranate Chile Relleno and a jalapeño margarita. The Dinner Pomegranate Chile Relleno came with asparagus. The asparagus was cooked to perfection in my opinion. It was crisp and juicy. Not chewy. Lightly seasoned. Very good. Only down side was there wasn't more, hehe. The Chile was filled to the brim with gooey cheese. Each cut oozed. The shrimp and scallops were plated on the sides of the chile so I could add some to a bite or eat it alone. They were also seasoned lightly and very flavorful, but you could still taste their authentic seafood flavors so it wasn't over powered. The sauce on top of the chile added a pop of flavor and sweetness to the chile. It all complements each other very very well. I was pleasantly surprised. The margarita was amazing. I ended up ordering two. Not too spicy, but there is a kick. The flavor of the cilantro and jalapeños with the drink were very refreshing. From other places I've tied this margarita here was definitely the best. They gave me chips and salsa while I waited for my order. Red sauce and green sauce. Lots of flavor and the chips were fresh and warm. Res sauce was very mild while the green sauce was on the spicier side, but not too bad. There was the perfect ratio of spice and flavor. I loved that the red sauce was a little chunky as well. As I said earlier they weren't very busy. The staff were very attentive and very kind. The lighting set the mood and I felt very relaxed. Normally eating alone makes me feel weird and I'm anxious, but I was very much at ease. Ate at my own pace and didn't feel rushed. All in all it was a great experience. I will definitely be back with my son who also enjoys good authentic Mexican food.

    Regular margarita
    Stesslo S.

Very pleasant atmosphere warm and inviting. Had the chili relleno and a margarita. With chips and salsa the bill was $56 so not an inexpensive endeavor. That being said the service was excellent tje food was outstanding and the margarita was top shelf. Would do again.

We chose the bar patio, which was cozy, fully covered, and set up with a handful of small high-top tables, making it a really comfortable spot to relax. The drink menu could use a little more detail, since none of the draft options were listed. When we asked about cider, our server checked and let us know they had a cherry pomegranate cider on tap. For beer, the options were simply described as an IPA and a lager, so we went with the lager. It was good, though we never found out which brewery it was from. We also ordered a mule, which was well made. For happy hour, we shared the half charcuterie board ($12), and it was beautifully presented with a great variety. We were impressed enough to stay for dinner afterward. We ordered the burger and the Greek salad with chicken after learning they were out of prawns. Our server also thoughtfully mentioned they were out of Kalamata olives in case that changed my order, which I appreciated. Both entrees were delicious. The burger stood out thanks to the homemade ketchup, which was especially good. The Greek salad was fresh and flavorful, though a bit light on portion size. Service throughout the evening was friendly and attentive, and by around 7 p.m. on a Friday, the restaurant had become quite busy. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with great patio ambiance, solid food, and warm service.

Small parking lot shared with Benjamin Moore Paint I think and a small coffee shop. There is some benches for seating and a couple picnic tables. I had two tacos (chicharron & encebollados) and found it filling where I didn't feel overstuffed. The tortilla's are like dinner size (not street taco size) and doubled up. The amount of protein they put into it is literally PERFECT. They don't overfill but it's definitely enough, and the way they place the portions, it doesn't overflow or spill out. Minimal mess to clean up afterwards. I thought the chicharron pork rinds would be crispy, but it wasn't as there was a chile sauce on top. I still enjoyed it and found it flavorful, even though the texture had changed. CK let me try the cochinita pibil and it was flavorful, and more of my preference. My favorite had to be the encebollados (steak w/ sauteed onions). Flavorful, sliced in good portions, and wasn't dry it at all since there was a good amount of sauce on there. Next time I'd love to try the Rajas (poblano peppers)!
