First time here today. We went for lunch, was seated quick, there was only a few people there. Once seated we looked over the menu. Pretty decent selection, fajitas, combo platters, tacos etc. We had 2 combo platters, both burritos and enchiladas. I had shredded chicken burrito, and ground beef enchilada the plate came with rice and beans. The time to get food was quick. Agave Cantina in Summerville was very good. This time we did takeout delivery, but I've also been there in person before. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and the prices are very reasonable. My main complaint is actually with the seating. They use those car-style bucket chairs, and they're just not comfortable--my butt kind of hangs off, which makes it hard to fully enjoy sitting there for a meal. That said, the food is definitely the highlight and keeps me coming back. I also believe they have an outdoor seating area, which is a nice option if you want to bring your dog and eat outside. read more

My husband & I love Mexican food. After trying many places, we now size up a Mexican restaurant by the following two criteria: do they offer complimentary chips & salsa, & do they have an IPA on draft? Agaves does both && they have nicely shaded outdoor seating! Honestly, this place hit all of the marks for us, & the food was tasty to boot! I've been here twice. I love the chicken street tacos. They're delicious. We have had great service both times as well. On our second visit, my husband had a hair in his food so he was not happy. My new favorite Mexican restaurant! Agaves Cantina opened not long ago, and it's hitting the restaurant scene with a Bang! Great open floor plan with plenty of seating inside and out. It has a well appointed bar with seating inside and out. The outdoor space has a beautiful fountain, a place for a band and many options for seating. We were immediately greeted by the hostess who was very friendly and professional. The menu had many selections including vegetarian. The cocktail menu has a great variety of drinks, beer and wine. Complimentary chips and salsa were provided upon seating. I got a griiled fish taco topped with a Chipotle crema, and I got the portobello taco as well. The portobella mushrooms were grilled which added a really nice smoky flavor. Both tacos were yummy! My husband got the shrimp salad and a grilled fish taco. His salad was huge with plenty of grilled large shrimp. Our server was very nice and attentive. The restaurant atmosphere was relaxed with a rustic flair. We are definitely coming back. Had a great dinner at Agaves Cantina! Service was spot on and the food was fantastic! I had a Shrimp Salad and was so impressed by the size and amount of shrimp on the salad. They do not skimp and we loved it! The seating was nice and spread out so you can relax and not feel like you're up in your neighbors table. It was really a treat to finally find a place that had nonalcoholic beer selections as everyone doesn't drink! They even had a selection for vegetarians, something you don't often see. When it warms up some we're going to enjoy the ample outdoor seating and bar. We will definitely be checking this place out again.!!! read more

This is a great addition to my local neighborhood spots. Plenty of seating outside and a large bar with four large flatscreen TVs for sports.. great service here as well. Decent drinks, but as far as the food, it's nothing special, southern Mexican type/Central American fare. Not a whole lot of flavor with the meats and the carne asada was dry and overcooked. Service was great being attentive, quick, and friendly to which our gentleman brought plenty of chips and salsa to enjoy. Happy hour is from 4-6 to which there's $5 house wines, liquor, $1 off classic margaritas. Tried the mango grande on ice, did not taste the tequila at all but at least it was refreshing. My friends all enjoyed their meals plus took some to-go for family members. Interior is wonderfully decorated and the outdoor seating is a'plenty! The bar has TVs so folks can watch games/sports. My first impression wasn't great based on the exterior of the building, it looked a little "rough around the edges." As I approached I could see the expansive outdoor patio and the indoor outdoor bar and I felt the place had some nice attributes. I ordered the classic gringo tacos, a couple of hard shell beef and one soft shell chicken and they were good, not overly fancy but I enjoyed them, they came with lettuce and shredded cheese. I added a side of refried beans which were pretty standard, next time I'd likely skip those. The issue was with the fried chimichanga that my friend ordered. It was cut in half and placed on top of a sauce and became soggy to the point where the filling completely spilled out of one half of the chimichanga, it didn't look appealing, but I was told it tasted fine. I was disappointed in the presentation. We ate outdoors and were terrorized by bees that seemed to go from table to table harassing patrons. I literally was ready to go because the bee problem was an issue. I hope they spray tomorrow to prevent future patrons from being harassed by flying pests. Our server was nice and assisted with any needs that we had. I felt it was a place with potential and would consider returning at some point. read more

The drinks are definitely strong for frozen margaritas which we loved !! The queso is really good as well. We did glance at the menu and the prices were pretty average ! Also happy hour is everyday from 4-7!! It's decorated nicely outside and inside with your typical Mexican flare. We tried this on a beautiful summer day. This restaurant was recently renovated from an old Asian Buffett. They did a beautiful job and the location is perfect. Lots of outdoor seating. We enjoyed the comfortable weather while eating our delicious food. Waiter told us they are looking for a band that they hope will play on the weekends. It definitely has the potential to be a great party place. Lunch menu was perfect portions. We enjoyed every bit of a vegetable bowl made with fresh vegetables. We were out and about yesterday looking for a fun new restaurant to try out. Well we found a fantastic place called Agave Cantina on the corner of Dorchester Rd and Ladson Rd. When we pulled into the lot we noticed a stunning outdoor patio area with great seating. Walking inside they offer tables and booths. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. When we got our food we were so impressed.it was hot and delicious, our waitress was Maria and was a great addition to their staff. We will definitely be going back to this place again. read more

We ate at the cantina near the corner of Dorchester and Ladson Road. Had the molcajete, which is enough food for 2 or more, ate half and took the other half home. It comes with two sides of rice and two sides of beans and choice of tortillas. The food was great as was the service. Would order the same again. read more

The new Agave Catina is an oasis in a sea of shopping centers. They have utterly transformed this location making it a beautiful and fun place to eat and hang out. They have created an outdoor patio space that will blow your mind! Large trees filled with lights provide a nice shady spot to escape the heat. There is a band stand for live music and a wonderful fountain bubbling in the very middle. We started with margaritas with me ordering the Texas margarita and my wife ordering the spicy pineapple margarita. Both were tasty and refreshing. The house made complementary chips were thick and crunchy and the salsa had just the right spice profile. We tried the Texas dip which had steak, chicken, and shrimp in a creamy cheese salsa which was loaded with tasty meat! Since we ordered large orders, we took this home and enjoyed it as a late-night snack! Definitely recommend! My wife ordered the Mucho Grande burrito which has steak with grilled mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes rolled in a big flour tortilla, topped with nacho cheese, ranchero sauce, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole and tomatoes. It was loaded with steak and the spice on the meat gave added flavor. As for me I ordered the Agaves Fajita with Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Pork, and Mexican Sausage. I have never seen this much meat in one fajita. All the meats had a great spice profile, and you can choose between corn or flower tortillas. I appreciated that they did not load you down with a lot of peppers and onions. I was able to make two meals out of it. Also, it's a really beautiful venue. There's an area where kids can get out their wiggles while you're waiting for food, there's a beautiful fountain and there's even a small garden area. The meat is pre-cooked and when you place an order, it simply warmed up and serve to you. I order chicken taco and steak tacos, and the steak was so dry that it was literally crispy, no flavor no sauce was served with it, just sprinkle of onion and cilantro . My husband ordered , carne asada but it was so thin and dry same meat is not seasoned or have any flavour, you can tell someone is miserable cooking there . My husband said he never eat anything worse in his life Then he added, honey. Why are you punishing me? I said what do you mean , suggesting to go out for dinner tonight that was the worst.you can make better tacos than this. we laughed we were hungry and ate it most of it then definitely regretted. This place opened recently, and we love it. The atmosphere is good. They have a large indoor and large outdoor area. The outdoor area is especially nice for families with kids because they can run around, safely climbing things and playing writhing Mom and Dad's view. I have to give this place a 1. They cannot make mole enchiladas or red rice. And they botched up a Guadalajara burrito. The enchiladas required more mole sauce and should not have cheese on them and the burrito needed an extra tortilla shell to hold up. There is a reason why the place doesnt have mexican customers like me coming in. Your food is terrible. Jalapenos and La Hacienda mexican restaurants are better. We wont be returning. I went to get food around 915 last night not thinking about what time they close. The server apparently was in the bathroom when I got there and everyone was cleaning around me. There were other people seated eating and drinking. I waited about 15 minutes before the bartender came and took my order. Long story short I now have food poisoning. Went back and it was a completely different experience. The choriqueso was full of grease and the brought out the wrong torta to me. When I said this is not what I ordered two different people asked me if I was sure. This is hands down, our new favorite Mexican place in the tricounty area. The food was delicious. My husband got the sope and a street taco, my children ordered from the kids menu, and I got the chimichanga. I get chimichangas at every Mexican place because it's my favorite. But this restaurant made all the other chimichangas very poor in comparison. The flavor was so delicious! My husband also commented that the sope was what he's been looking for. read more

From the complimentary chips & salsa (YUM), to the texas queso (forgive me if this isn't what it's called but it was a large portion of queso with shrimp, steak, and chicken), to all of our entrees.. everything was amazing and any special requests we made were handled and served perfectly. It finally opened!! We've lived here 2 years and it's been under construction all this time. First time in this brand new Mexican eatery. The place stands out as soon as you pull into the parking lot.... It's not your average restaurant. The decor outside is very well done, with giant agaves (faux), lots of outside seating, a waterfall and even garage doors that open to bar area inside. The outside lighting is really nice as well. Inside is really nicely decorated giving a great Mexican atmosphere. The bar is massive! The whole place was just beautifully done. Sorry, didn't take any pics. There was no wait, but it was only 4pm. I've seen the parking lot full several other times while driving by. The food was great. My husband got the combo (a deal for $14), he chose a burrito and quesadilla, with rice and beans, and thought it was all very good with the exception the rice was rather dry. Mind you he's not a Mexican food fan, so for him to say it was good says a lot. I had the quesadilla rellena, loaded with chicken, a small guacamole salad that included sour cream, and refried beans. All good. Service was good, they seemed to have plenty of help that was friendly and attentive. We'll be going back for sure, and try the margaritas next time. read more
